!!Shinnosuke Tomari/Kamen Rider Drive

[[quoteright:153:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cast01_3060.png]]

Shinnosuke is a policeman of the Metropolitan Police Department. In his past, he was a hot-blooded elite detective, but he lost his motivation in the first "Global Freeze" incident when he severely injured his partner. Shinnosuke was then "exiled" to the Special Unit, traumatized by hurting his colleague and permanently removing him from the force.

Several months later he comes into the possession of the Tridoron, a car that can seemingly talk to him. He discovers that the voice is the Drive Driver, who encourages Shinnosuke to become the secret hero Kamen Rider Drive.
----
* AccidentalMurder: Not outright murder, but during the initial Global Freeze incident, he accidentally caused an explosion that would cause permanent injury to his partner.
* {{Adorkable}}
* AmbiguousDisorder: He seems to be suffering from some kind of depression.
* AttentionDeficitOhShiny: It doesn't matter if he's in the middle of an investigation or not - the moment he sees a classic car, he will drop everything and start gushing over it.
* {{Badass}}: Comes with the territory of being a cop and a Kamen Rider. He's a GreatDetective, a BadassDriver, and an InstantExpert with his new powers.
** BreakTheBadass: Was an ace policeman before the series start, but due to an accident he lost all motivation in his work.
** BadassDriver: The first Kamen Rider to exclusively use a car as his main vehicle.
** BadassInANiceSuit: To an extent. In all the material seen thus far, he is commonly wearing a suit.
* BareFistedMonk: Though he has access to a variety of weapons, in fights he mostly uses his punches and kicks mixed with the Shift Cars' powers.
* BrilliantButLazy: A very good cop, but he tends to slack off during work.
* {{Catchphrase}}: "I'm done thinking about it!"
** "My brain's in top gear now,'' when he gets serious.
* CharacterTics: He'll adjust his tie, signaling that he's about to do something [[LetsGetDangerous really badass]].
** Just like [[Series/KamenRiderFaiz Takumi]] and [[Series/KamenRiderW Shotaro]], he'll sometimes flick his right hand while opening and closing it during battle.
* {{Expy}}: With Mr. Belt, he's the show's [[Series/KnightRider Michael Knight]], though his design and profession is more similar to [[Series/KamenRiderW Terui's]].
** His relationship with Kiriko resembles both [[Series/KamenRiderDouble Shoutaro and Akiko's]], as well as [[Series/KamenRiderDecade Tsukasa and Natsumi's]].
* CompositeCharacter: He seems to combine [[Series/KamenRiderDouble Shotaro and Phillip]] together. He has Shotaro's half-boiled personality and gut instinct combined with Phillip's intelligence and BatDeduction powers.
* CoolCar: Tridoron provides him with his sweet transportation, his [[CoolSword Handle Sword]] and [[CoolGuns Door Gun]] and his tires for his weapons and special abilities. Tridoron itself is armed with lasers, transforms with him depending on his form, and can even be enhanced with Tires of its own.
* TheDreaded: Because he took up the mantle of the original Drive, the Roidmudes gave him the Kamen Rider title, the masked warrior who destroys their kind.
* FinishingMove: As per tradition. He has a Rider Kick called the [[DivingKick SpeeDrop]] and a Rider Punch called Turbo Smash.
* GenreSavvy: Immediately deduces in episode 2 that the Shift Cars, Mr. Belt and the Roidmudes all have the same source. With the franchise's long-standing tradition of PhlebotinumRebel heroes, he's perfectly right in assuming, and Mr. Belt confirms it.
* HenshinHero
* TheHero
* LegacyCharacter: As displayed through flashback, there was another Drive before him.
** And of course, just like [[Series/KamenRiderFourze Gentaro]], he's one of the few Heisei Riders who's actually called Kamen Rider in-series.
* LetsGetDangerous: Whenever he adjusts his tie, he shifts into his GreatDetective persona, solves crime and kicks ass.
* [[spoiler:MidSeasonUpgrade: Type Deadheat]]
* MultiformBalance: Known as "Types". There are two kinds: Different forms and different weapons. The weapons also change his stats.
** JackOfAllStats: Type Speed
** Type Wild
** Type Technique
** Type Fruit
** [[spoiler:Type Deadheat]]
* MyGreatestFailure: Him accidentally injuring his old partner Hayase has made him suffer depression.
* RunningGag: Like [[Series/KamenRiderWizard Haruto]], he'll never finish his [[TrademarkFavoriteFood box of milk balls]].
* SuperCop: Being both a police officer ''and'' a Kamen Rider, Shinnosuke is definitely this.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: He'll often be seen eating milk balls when off the job, [[TheSlacker which is often]]. Like [[Series/KamenRiderWizard Haruto]], he often gets interrupted before he finishes the box, though it looked like he might have managed to polish the box in #3, if the shear amount of wrappers was a hint.

The heroine of Drive, she is a cop belonging to the Special Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department. * {{Catchphrase}}: "I'm taking you in!"
* ColdHam: She is perpetually stoic even when making car puns or performing over the top action.
* TheComicallySerious: Her exaggerated stoicism generates most of her humor.
* {{Expy}}: Her hairdo (especially her bangs) and cold-blooded demeanor makes her suspiciously similar to [[Anime/DigimonTamers Ruki Makino/Rika Nonaka]]. Though most Kamen Rider fans might think of this as the second coming of [[Series/KamenRiderWizard Rinko]].
** Her coldness and general badassness also bring to mind [[KamenRiderGaim Yoko.]]
* HiddenDepths: She's actually a pretty good artist, though most of her drawings are just a way of keeping track of Shinnosuke's habits.
** Her heavy pressure on Shinnosuke is due to her being saved by the original Drive: Since SHE can't become the Kamen Rider, she wants his successor to act like he does.
* HypercompetentSidekick: Far more focused and driven than Shinnosuke's and doesn't suffer from the limitations of being a belt.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt
* TheStoic: Has a cold personality that borders on robotic.
* SecretKeeper: Is the only member of the Special Unit that knows Drive's true identity.

* NerdGlasses: They fit nicely with his otaku persona.
* {{Otaku}}: Of the occult.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jun Honganji]]
!!Jun Honganji

He is the section chief of the Special Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department. He is a political centrist who really hates trouble, and orders Kiriko to keep an eye on Shinnosuke because of his habit to skip work. He is interested in fortune-telling and feng shui, and the color of his necktie matches the lucky color of each day.
----

!!!Portrayed by: Taira Imata
He is the assistant police inspector belonging to the Metropolitan Police Department's first investigation division. A very active detective, he has been dispatched from his division to liaison with the Special Unit. He thinks that the work of the Special Unit is completely terrible, mocking it as an "occult club". In reality, he is an amazingly doting parent, and if's the one thing he doesn't want anyone to know.

!Roidmudes
The Roidmudes are a group of OneHundredAndEight androids that first appeared during the "Global Freeze" incident. They can evolve by [[PowersAsPrograms copying people's]] [[PowerCopying body parts and physical attributes]], making them more and more powerful.

[[folder:General Tropes]]
* AnimalMotifs: The basic Roidmudes are segregated into categories based on this trope: Spider, Bat and Cobra.
* TheAssimilator: They evolve by taking traits from humans and adding them to their human form.
* BlankSlate: All Roidmudes start as this. They are designed to evolve by absorbing knowledge and information, upon with they start to form a personality. If they become unruly and jeopardize the Roidmude objectives, they will be hunted down and returned to this state by Brain.
* EliteMooks: The ones that are perpetrators in the cases are usually accompanied by two or more basic Roidmudes.
* {{Expy}}: They share many similarities with the [[KamenRiderKabuto Worms]], what with the {{Mooks}} getting the option to evolve into the MonsterOfTheWeek, the Slowdown concept being the inverse of Clock Up, and the ability to take human form.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Well, from a ''lesser'' Nightmare to a bigger one, but still. All major Roidmudes like Heart or Brain started out as basic ones, having evolved into much more powerful forms.
* FingerFirearms: Minor Roidmudes' basic form of attack.
* FromASingleCell: So long as their their number is still intact, they can resurrect after some time with the help of a Viral Core. But if it's destroyed, they're gone for good.
* HiddenAgendaVillain: In general the Roidmudes pursue their own desires, but Heart and Brain have been tasked with gathering Roidmudes with unique powers in search of something called the "Promised Number". And apparently they're on a time limit.
* MixAndMatchMan: The human form of a Roidmude takes attributes from their victims.
* SpidersAreScary: To the surprise of no one, the Spider-type Roidmudes.
* TimeStandStill: They all have the power to induce "Slowdown"/"Density Shift", which causes time to get all wonky for everyone except themselves, Drive and anyone in possession of a Shift Car.
* WingedHumanoid: Bat-type Roidmudes can sprout wings out of their backs.
* YouAreNumberSix: Their true form is literally nothing but floating numbers.

* PsychopathicManchild: Type C.
* {{Yakuza}}: Heart comes off as something of a gangster.

Drive's rival, an evil warrior working for the Roidmudes. His mission is to defeat Drive and also assassinate Roidmudes that donít follow their orders.
----
* BadassBiker: Rides a motorbike called Ride Chaser.
* TheGrimReaper: Often introduces himself as one. [[TheDreaded Most Roidmudes have taken that to the heart]].
** Interestingly he says that Drive is more of a reaper than he is, as Drive kills Roidmudes while Chase only "resets" them.
* PurpleIsPowerful: In both his forms he wears plenty of purple, and can kick everyone's ass like there's no tomorrow.
* ProfessionalKiller: Goes after all his bosses' targets, whether they be rogue, idiotic Roidmudes or their enemies like Drive. [[TheStoic All the while showing no emotions whatsoever]].
* PunnyName: A play on the word "Machine", and the kanji used can mean "advanced demon".

* HenshinHero
* KnightInShiningArmor: In Kiriko's eyes at the very least, since he saved her during the Global Freeze incident, even going so far as to preform a post-rescue BridalCarry. [[GenreSavvy Shinnosuke quickly identifies this trope.]]
* PosthumousCharacter: He unfortunately lost his life fighting the Roidmudes.
* SinisterSilhouettes: A heroic example. He is almost completely silhouetted in shadow in every flashback he appears in (though at least one sequence gives us a glimpse of some strangely ''purple'' armor).

----
* BadassBiker: Rides a motorbike called Ride Chaser.
* TheGrimReaper: Often introduces himself as one. [[TheDreaded Most Roidmudes have taken that to the heart]].

----

* ChekhovMIA: Six months after saving the world during the Global Freeze crisis he's nowhere to be seen.
** Mr. Belt says he [[PosthumousCharacter fell in battle]].

* FlawedPrototype: According to Mr. Belt, Proto-Drive could not destroy Roidmude cores.
* TheGreatestStoryNeverTold: Apparently, he saved the world during the Global Freeze, but it seems no one even knows this guy existed.
** This story will be told with a special DVD for movie goers of ''Movie War Full Throttle'', the special DVD being titled 'Episode 0'.
