* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: She acts more like a thuggish boy than a girl most of the time, but she's also shown to enjoy reading shoujo manga and typically wears her hair in GirlishPigtails when it isn't in her default hairstyle.

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Because the [=OTF=]s cannot accept a pilot who has fallen in love, Iiboshi devises a plan to prevent that: [[spoiler:make the girls hook up with partners and then brutally cut down their relationships to make them reject love as a whole. Alas Hisone and El fall in love before the second part of the plan can be carried out, causing their [=OTFs=] to reject them a few weeks before the Ritual.]] The plan does end up working in the latter's case though, so it didn't completely backfire.
* NotSoStoic: Only on two occasions does Iiboshi lose his cool. The first time, he gets upset when Nao refuses to trade her kiwi joa for his custard. The second time, [[spoiler: he gets enraged when the D-Pilots, including Hinomoto, decide to complete the Ritual in a way that breaks from tradition.
