Uncanny doppelgangers that are created from Iris cryptid encounters. Woodcrawler Fake People are synthesized based on the victim, while humans infected with Deep Root Disease are transformed into another type of Fake People. The whole ordeal is a bit complicated due to how little information there is, and it is unknown if these two Fake People undergo the same process or not.

* BodyHorror: The ones created by Nature's Mockery are the products of humans experiencing sudden muscular paralysis, body disfigurement and flesh decay. This leads to the Fake People barely resembling human beings.
* DecompositeCharacter: Where to even begin with this. So, there are two types of Fake People, created by two different creatures: one from Woodcrawlers, the other from Nature's Mockery. The Woodcrawler's Fake Human is a MeatMoss replica which is produced once a Woodcrawler infects a human - and for all intents and purposes, it eventually ends up something at least ''outwardly'' resembling a human being. [[NothingIsScarier Whatever happens to the human being used as a base is anyone's guess.]] On the other hand, the Fake People produced by the Nature's Mockery is a ''real'' human being that has been infected by Deep Root Disease, eventually becoming [[TranshumanAbomination a completely alien abomination]] which only ''vaguely'' resembles a human.
* KillItWithFire: Apparently an effective way of dealing with the Woodcrawler variant of Fake People, or at least preventing them from getting back up once killed.
* MeatMoss: The final forms of the Woodcrawlers' Fake People seem to look more-or-less like regular human beings, but they're obviously... off. If ''Home Invasion Help'' is any indication, however, they seems to ''begin'' "life" as a mess of meat moss which eventually amalgamates into a humanoid form. Now, the Nature's Mockery's Fake People on the other hand apparently remain as meat moss the entire way through.
* StumblingInTheNewForm: The organisms that produce Fake People are big, multilimbed StarfishAliens, so it's only natural that the resulting "humans" don't move like actual people.
* WasOnceAMan: Arguably. While the fake people produced by Nature's Mockery seem to definitely been regular humans at one point, the Woodcrawler's Fake People appear to be mimics and not human beings proper.

It is said to be the 'lens' of the Iris, but much like Saturn's rings are the 'gateway', we have no idea what this actually entails. We see it shoot a beam of light, and that's it. In retrospect, the phrase "enter via proboscis" more likely indicates the ''Woodcrawlers'' have a proboscis which they use to infect people, and not that they enter through the human equivalent of the proboscis, but in any event, this still would imply the trope.

Renaming it to the Wretch because that's what the GHE wiki calls it, and apparantly Remy's said that Woodcrawlers and Skinwalkers are one and the same.

* BigCreepyCrawlies: The only part of them that has been clearly seen are their long segmented legs, suggesting a spider-like appearance.

* DigAttack: Woodcrawlers often break into domiciles by burrowing into them from underground. And seemingly not even metal-lined bunkers are safe from this.

* {{Skinwalker}}: Their habit of snatching people's bodies makes them analogous to skinwalkers, with visitors to Moonlight Acres during the 1930s purporting to have sighted them as such.

** Somewhat averted, as its long, spindly legs are quickly overshadowed its massive bodies, which are... [[BizarreAlienBiology incredibly hard to describe]]. Just take a look at Beau Nadler's folder further down.
* BodyHorror: Its feet are essentially hands, and its legs are unnaturally long and many.
* BodyOfBodies: Unlike what the name would have you believe, a Skinwalker does not disguise itself as a human (or animal) by [[BodySnatcher inhabiting them]] like a parasite, instead, it takes entire living beings and incorporates them into itself. It is not something that walks in skins, it is a walker ''made of skins.''

* BodyHorror: Extreme. It's a plant that treats people as living soil. ''Old Bones'' elaborates a little on what exactly happens as the roots spread; the body welcomes the foreign tissue, the organs fuse together blindly, the bones don't decay, and the tissue refuses to die. And it's best not to dwell on the state of the patient's mind during all of this.
