* BadassNormal / GeniusBruiser: He is an advanced practioner of anti-cyborg version of Koppo, and specialises in handstrikes that penetrate the targets to deliver shockwaves that demolish them from inside in a similar fashion to Alita's Heartz Hauen attack; he can even control how deep will the shockwave go. A heavily armored cyborg ended up with a brain concussion after facing him. Another one with much weaker protection didn't survive the ordeal. * BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: She becomes strongly smitten with Figure Four in a matter of mere days as a result of him being the first person in years to treat her like a genuine human being and reminding her that she's more than just a living weapon. Though she DID appreciate him challenging her to a fist fight and not getting K.O.-ed after the first hit she landed.

* BadassNormal: Can perform a shockwave attack in a human body and knows how to fight full-body cyborgs. While fighting with [[spoiler:Sechs]] he still managed to give [[spoiler:[[RunningGag then]] her]] a lot of trouble.

Added DiffLines:

* DefrostingIceQueen: He has his effect on Alita, who at the point of their meeting is a very distressed and depressed soul that lives on solely in hopes of reuiniting with Ido, and tries to numb her existentional pain by letting go of her humanity in the heat of constant battle. Figure is not only arguably the first person in a decade to treat her like a real person, but by being a version of GeniusBruiser himself can also relate to some of her issues while reminding her of what life can offer beyond the rush of fighting.

Added DiffLines:

* DidYouJustRomanceCthulu: Yolg pictures Figure's early attempts at hitting on Alita as this.

Added DiffLines:

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Two, representing the main aspects of his character. First, he defeats a  a much bigger cyborg while having a normal organic body, showing what a powerful fighter he is for a baseline human. Then, when faced with the prospect of getting killed by a destroyed train's nuclear reactor exploding, something he couldn't escape on his own, he prompts Alita to leave him behind and save herself while she can, displaying his kind nature - something that arguably made her decide he's worth saving.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: For Alita, and managed to become one in just days after meeting her, showing how starved of interacting with someone showing her genuine kindness she was. [[spoiler: It shows how much she needed that kind of person near her when assuming Figure got killed by Barjack instantly turned on her rage mode.]]
* LovingAShadow: His romance with Alita can be interpreted as such as of Last Order: [[spoiler: the Alita he reunites with after Z.O.T.T. ends has her original, organic brain that was put into cold storage at the beginning of Last Order. As a result, Figure's Alita has memories and personality traits that don't go beyond her fight with Desty Nova in Granite Inn (at the end of original manga), making her virtually a seperate character from the Alita that we follow during Last Order and Mars Chronicle.]]

Added DiffLines:

* MeetCute: He first caught Alita's attention by grabbing her harmonica and making a total idiot out of himself while trying to play it.

* ReplacementLoveInterest: Alita [[spoiler:has her organic brain restored into a clone to keep her promise with Figure while she deals with unfinished business on Mars]].

Added DiffLines:

* BroughtDownToBadass: She overtaxed the Tunguska's Wormhole Reactor in between the events of ''Last Order'' and ''Mars Chronicle'', meaning that she no longer has an infinite energy supply to instantly regenerate with.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Hypocrite}}: Played rather tragically regarding Alita's views of WhatMeasureIsANonHuman. [[spoiler: She's completely bewildered that both Ido and Bigott end up [[GoneMadFromTheRevelation Going Mad from the Revelation]] that their brains had been replaced by chips. Ido chooses to have his memories erased while Bigott gets DrivenToSuicide. When Alita finds out that the same ends up getting done to herself in ''The Last Order'', she doesn't take it well either.]]

Added DiffLines:

* BringMyBrownPants: Den's ScareEmStraight threat described below actually results in Koyomi not only breaking down crying for her life, but also relieving herself in fear.

Added DiffLines:

* HappyEndingOverride: Lou finds herself a victim of this due to ''The Last Order'' retconning the ending of ''Alita Battle Angel.'' With the final arc no longer canon, this means that Alita never arrives on Zalem in time to save her. [[spoiler: While Lou does eventually get revived in ''Last Order'', it's explicitly a version of her before she had met Alita.]]

* EntitledToHaveYou: [[ZigZaggedTrope This trope goes back and forth]] as, through the first four volumes, Zapan treats any sign of Alita developing independence from him with pure hostility. First when she becomes a Hunter-Warrior and later on when she runaways from home and joins the Murderball Circuit. At first, it seems like he's just being an OverprotectiveDad, but later implications hints that he may harbor unrequited feelings towards her.

Added DiffLines:

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Zapan's framing Hugo and causing him to gain a bounty. On the one hand, Hugo was blatantly taking part in the illegal black market and robbing cyborgs of their spines. On the other, Zapan frames him for murder that ''Zapan'' committed, all to spite Alita.

Added DiffLines:

* UsedToBeASweetKid: Relatively, but the first time we meet Zapan he actually warmly greets Dr. Ido. It's revealed later on that Zapan was also the one to help build the bar that all the Hunter-Warriors hang out at.
