[[folder: The Fear Family]]
The family that started it all. The Fears were wealthy benefactors of Shadyside when it was first founded and as such had great influence over the town during the 19th Century. But that was also because the Fears were practitioners of witchcraft and black magic, responsible for tormenting anyone who caught their annoyance and ultimately cursing the town forever.

!!Angelica Fear
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/houseofwhispers.jpg]]

Angelica Fear, nee Pierce, was a SouthernBelle who came from a family of witches, and captured the heart of Simon Fear when she revealed just how ruthless she truly was after murdering her other suitors. Angelica was the family's matriarch up until the early 20th Century, when she died in the inferno that destroyed the Fear Street Mansion.

----
* TheCorrupter: She tried to force her cousin Amy Pierce towards learning the dark magic inherent in their family's blood, but was unsuccessful.
* DespairEventHorizon: She crossed it when [[spoiler: she watched Simon murder Hannah by mistake.]]
* DotingParent: To Hannah over Julia, to the degree she'll even brainwash men into loving Hannah as long as Hannah wants them.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Her two daughters and three sons.
* EvilAllAlong: Simon was shocked to learn that Angelica was not only a witch in her own right, but quite frankly more evil than he was at that point.
* EvilMatriarch: Of the Fear Family. She'll go as far as to murder other children if it means she can bring back her own daughters.
* InTheBlood: The women of the Pierce Family apparently know a thing or two about magic themselves, with Angelica demonstrating powers independent of Simon Fear's magic. This just proved to Angelica and Simon they belonged together.
* MamaBear: She's as fucked up as her husband, but they both loved their kids and didn't exactly rush them into learning the family's darker secrets. However, this didn't mean she was above ParentalFavoritism which led to [[spoiler:Julia trying to kill Hannah and Hannah killing Julia in self defense]].
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Together with Simon, by the time of their deaths in ''The Burning'' the two had successfully outlived their two daughters and three sons.
* ParentalFavoritism: Towards Hannah over Julia.
* RapeByProxy: She's considered brainwashing young men into loving Hannah for as long as Hannah's interested in them.
* SouthernBelle: A rather dark example.
* YouKilledMyFather: Inverted. When Angelica learns Simon killed her father so they could be together, she's ecstatic.

!!Edward Fier
A member of the original Fier family who lived in Wickham Village in the late 1600s, featured in ''The Betrayal''. He fell in love with Susannah Goode, much to his father's disapproval, which kickstarted the plot.

----
* ArrangedMarriage: His father arranges for him to marry a merchant's daughter far away, and rebels, being in love with Susannah at the time.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He has a moment of this when the Goode's curse rears its ugly head, realizing that he should have stood up for Susannah when his father accused her of witchcraft.
* KilledOffscreen: [[spoiler:He dies during a time skip, having worked himself to death while living in the wilderness to escape the curse.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: When his father tells him he's in an arranged marriage, Edward rebels against him and tells him of his love for Susannah. His father promptly sentences her to death and the Fier family is cursed by Susannah's father.

!!Emma Fier Reade
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/circleoffire.jpg]]

An elderly Fier featured in the prologue of ''Circle of Fire''. Emma kept a powerful book of spells which she was unable to pass on as she did not have any children, but she hid it in her house before she died so that others might find it.

----
* BlackAndWhiteMagic: Her book of spells doesn't appear to fall under simply "good" or "evil" but depends on how the power is used.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Comes across as one of the more innocent Fear Family members in that not much is revealed about her before she dies, but she is given the opportunity to die peacefully of old age. At the very least she avoids making any grand proclamations about all that evil may bring.
* TheDeterminator: It's said she refused to show any kind of weakness and made sure to carefully hide her spell book before dying.
* MysteriousPast: All that's said about Emma is that she was married and had no children of her own. The headmistress of Mia's school seems frightened when Mia asks her about Emma's past but doesn't elaborate, brushing it off as just stories. Of course, considering the Fear Family, even the good relatives, are ConvictedByPublicOpinion, this should be taken with a grain of salt.

!!Ezra Fier
Edward's son, and the father of Jonathan, featured in ''The Betrayal'' as a child, and later in ''The Secret.'' A great deal of his close family fell victim to the Goode's curse, and he grew up bitter and revenge-seeking as a result.

----
* ImDyingPleaseTakeMyMacGuffin: As he lays dying, he gives the Fier family amulet to Jonathan, pressing him to continue seeking revenge for him with it. [[spoiler:Jonathan buried the amulet and ignored his father's wishes.]]
* ParentalFavoritism: He clearly prefers Abigail over Rachel or Jonathan.
* ParentalMarriageVeto: When Jonathan is in the process of marrying Delilah, he barges into the church waving a gun around [[spoiler:as he was duped into thinking she was a Goode.]]
* RevengeBeforeReason: He pursues revenge against the Goodes over the health and safety of his family.

!!Jake Fear
From ''Door of Death''. Jake was an older man who fell in love with the beautiful Cassandra Ryan, a girl young enough to be his granddaughter. Cassandra stole everything that Jake owned and murdered him via poison. After death, he became a vengeful spirit that rises from the grave every Halloween to merit vengeance on those considered to be "Cheaters."

----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: To Amy Burke. After she performs a "Backwards Supper" with her friend, Amy has a vision of Jake as her future husband. [[spoiler: The ending implicitly reveals that Jake kills Amy, and she becomes his bride in the afterlife.]]
* AndNowYouMustMarryMe: As a result of Amy Burke performing the Backwards Supper, [[spoiler: and because the practical joke she pulled made ''her'' a cheater as well.]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: It doesn't matter if it's someone pulling a practical joke or someone who cheats others out of their hard earned money, Jake bestows gory, sadistic death on ''anyone'' who could be called a cheater.
* IJustWantToBeLoved: Jake never had any kind of romantic relationship before he met Cassie, which made it all the more easier for her to trick him into signing over his entire estate.
* ImplacableMan: Absolutely nothing can stop him from meeting out cruel "justice" on those he's marked for death.
* LonersAreFreaks: When he was alive, the people of Shadyside feared him just because he was a Fear even though he hadn't actually done anything to anyone. He didn't become evil until ''after'' he died.
* MayDecemberRomance: His doomed relationship with Cassie Ryan. [[spoiler: And later with Amy.]]
* TookALevelInJerkass: Cassandra stealing and destroying everything he owned for the money, manipulating his need for love, and his agonizingly slow death turned him into a sadistic monster.
* TragicMonster: Really, how could anyone ''not'' have become a monster after all the shit that was dumped on him in life?

!!Jamie Fier
From ''Heart of the Hunter''. Jamie was traveling with his family through the Cumberland Gap when they were abandoned by the superstitious pioneers and left to die. Jamie was found by the Shawnee Nation and given the power to transform into a wolf, which he has decided to use to avenge the deaths of his parents against Lucien Goode and his daughters.

----
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler: Being seen by Amanda Goode, whom truly loves him, traps Jamie for all eternity in the body of a wolf.]]
* BalefulPolymorph: His first transformation was very painful.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: His quest for revenge ultimately turns him into a brutal killer.
* HoneyTrap: He tells Lucien Goode he'll rid him of his wolf problem in exchange for marrying his daughter.
* ManipulativeBastard: He terrorizes Lucien Goode's farm in his wolf form, then shows up as a hunter promising to get rid of said wolf for him in exchange for his daughter's hand in marriage. All so he can firmly destroy all three Goodes. [[spoiler: He kills Lucien, but Amanda kills Laura before he has a chance to do so, and Amanda traps him in a cage and makes him shift permanently into a wolf.]]
* MommasBoy: Subverted, in that he deeply cared for his mother Dora Mae before she died.
* NoAccountingForTaste: He used to have a crush on PrettyFreeloader Laura Goode before ultimately realizing just how spoiled and self-centered she actually is.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: He's not so much a werewolf as he can turn into an actual wolf every night.
* TheTease: A rare male version. He plays along with Amanda Goode's infatuation with him just to humiliate her when he announces his plan to marry Laura.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Becomes a VillainProtagonist and just as bad, if not worse, as Lucien Goode.
* YouKilledMyFather: He blames the deaths of his mother and father on Lucien Goode, who was the primary instigator for the hate aimed at the Fiers.

!!Justin Fear
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/danceofdeath.jpg]]

A wealthy and handsome doctor living in the town of Shadowbrook, Justin courts the recently orphaned Madeline Simms in ''Dance of Death''.

----
* BlackWidow: He's been married four times [[spoiler: over the span of a century.]]
* TheCasanova: Is utterly charming and possesses an almost supernatural ability to court women.
* CompellingVoice: [[spoiler: He actually has the power to seduce and control women with his voice. Madeline almost falls under his sway completely before Auntie's voice is able to snap her out of it.]]
* EvilerThanThou: [[spoiler: Auntie says when other members of the Fear Family wish to scare each other, they talk about Justin.]]
* EyeScream: [[spoiler: Madeline cuts his eyes open when she's able to get close enough to him.]]
* NoImmortalInertia: [[spoiler: All it takes is for someone to physically damage his good looks in order for the youth he's stolen to wear off. Madeline accomplishes this by slashing his eyes opening, causing him to rapidly age and decay.]]
* SmugSnake: [[spoiler: All Madeline had to do was pretend Justin had an effect on her and he completely believed she was still under his control.]]
* SomethingAboutARose: He cultivates different varieties of roses. [[spoiler: It's implied his four other wives were buried in the rose garden in his mansion, as their spirits cause the roses to go berserk and engulf the mansion with their roots once Justin is finally killed.]]
* VainSorcerer: [[spoiler: He's kept himself looking young and handsome since the 18th Century by feeding off the youth and beauty of young women.]]
* YourSoulIsMine: [[spoiler: He's referred to as the Soul Stealer by Tobias and Honoria.]]

!!Lucy Fier
A cousin of Tyler Fier who has lived with him and his family ever since her parents died in a fire. Lucy looks like a child, but she's really 17 years old. An emotionally stunted, unstable 17 year old with a collection of creepy dolls and a love of fire.

----
* AllThereInTheManual: Lucy's relation to Tyler wasn't completely clear in ''Forbidden Secrets'', but the Fear Family Tree, for whatever it's worth, showed the two were cousins whose respective fathers were brothers.
* KissingCousins: Since the Fear Family Tree revealed they are indeed related by blood, this makes her infatuation with Tyler even more disturbed than it already was.
* LonelyDollGirl: Her room is filled with identical dolls that look just like her, and she names them all Lucy. One of the few dolls that doesn't look like her got smashed, and she claims the other dolls "Killed her" out of jealousy. [[spoiler: She has a breakdown after Savannah and Tyler officially marry and destroys her dolls, sick of how Tyler keeps giving them to her.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: She looks and acts like a child but she's a teenager and almost a woman. As it stands, she's sick of being treated younger than she is and hates Tyler for not seeing her as a woman.
* PlayingWithFire: She vividly remembers the fire that killed her parents and describes in detail the way the colors shifted as they burned. [[spoiler: This allows Victoria to frame her for setting a fire in Savannah's room. Tyler then mentions Lucy is the one who set the fire which killed her parents, but whether or not this was true or Tyler trying to scare Savannah is still up for debate.]]
* PunnyName: Lucifer, anyone?

!!Margaret Fier
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/handofpower.jpg]]

A citizen of the village of Tilburg from ''The Hand of Power''. Margaret was ostracized by the other villagers because of her psychic abilities, and they hunted her down believing she murdered her best friend. Margaret was saved by Peter Sturdevant, the handsome and reclusive village patroon, but Margaret soon fond herself immersed in the search for Peter's family legacy, a severed human hand capable of great power.

----
* BlessedWithSuck: She has the power of {{psychometry}}, and because of this she's afraid to handle anything that has belonged to someone else as she can't control the ghastly visions it will bring.
* BurnTheWitch: Surprisingly averted. The villagers planned to hang her when they finally caught her.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: She traveled to the new world with her mother, but she died shortly afterwards.
* DamselInDistress: Is saved from the mob by Peter, and he gets them off her back for good by exposing the actual killer they were after. Unfortunately, being with Peter puts her in more distress thanks to the hand's corruption.
* DarkIsNotEvil: The only thing "dark" about Margaret is her psychic power, which she has no control over and isn't exactly capable of hurting anyone.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: She helps Peter destroy the hand once and for all, saving him from the same insanity that plagued his grandmother and allowing the two to live in peace.
* LoveMartyr: To Peter Sturdevant. She loves him so much she's practically desperate to find his family's heirloom to repay his kindness, even after Peter begs her not to look for it without him.
* NiceGirl: Margaret is one of the nicest relatives of the Fear Family ever featured in the whole franchise. She's not evil, has no ulterior motives or hidden dark side, and doesn't suffer any horrible fate just because of her family tree. In fact, just about everyone ''else'' in ''The Hand of Power'' was evil or cruel.
* PsychicPowers: {{Psychometry}}, which allows her to experience the past of whoever owned the object. However, the only way Margaret can have visions is if the person had a very strong, emotional connection to the object, or they experienced something traumatic or emotionally charged while wearing or using said object.

!!Priscilla Fier
A wealthy cousin of Trevor Fier and the richest woman in the village of Shadow Glen. Priscilla appears in ''One Last Kiss'', where she offers her home to Eleanor Rawlins after the death of her father. But Priscilla has two secrets: [[spoiler: she's not only the queen of the vampire colony that resides in Shadow Glen, she's also Eleanor's long believed to be dead birth mother.]]

----
* DrunkOnTheDarkSide: [[spoiler: She loved being a vampire so much she acquired enough power to become the queen of her colony.]]
* EvilMatriarch: [[spoiler: Both as the queen of her vampire colony ''and'' as Eleanor's long-assumed dead mom. She proved to be more vindictive than the rest of her vampire brethren and is determined to convert Eleanor or even kill her if Eleanor fights back.]]
* InNameOnly: [[spoiler: She's not related to Trevor in any way. She only took the name "Fier" and pretended to be his cousin to get closer to Eleanor.]]
* LukeIAmYourFather: [[spoiler: She's Mrs. Rawlins.]]
* ManipulativeBitch: [[spoiler:She presents herself as a wealthy and generous woman, offering her home to Eleanor in her time of need and doting on her because Eleanor's fond of Trevor. It eventually turns out Priscilla's really Eleanor's mom and was grooming her to become a vampire, having waited for Eleanor to grow up before attempting to convert her. She also played multiple mind games with Trevor with Eleanor as the prize.]]
* NiceGirl: She offers Eleanor a place to stay in her lavish mansion after Mr. Rawlins is killed, and acts nothing but hospitable to Eleanor. [[spoiler: It's mostly an act, as Priscilla is indeed a very vicious and power hungry vampire.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: Becomes one to Eleanor after losing her father, but this gets subverted. [[spoiler: She actually ''is'' Eleanor's mom.]]
* RichBitch: Is considered the richest and most affluent woman in Shadow Glen.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Eleanor and Trevor.

!!Sarah Fear
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/awakeningevil.jpg]]

The Fear who was deeply connected to the plight of the cheer squad in ''Fear Street Cheerleaders'', as the Evil Spirit festered in Sarah's grave before the bus crash awoke it. She's the focus of ''The Awakening Evil'', which not only explains her origins but the Evil Spirit's as well.

----
* ArrangedMarriage: Her wedding to Thomas Fear was set up by Sarah's grandmother Althea.
* BecomingTheMask: [[spoiler: The woman called Sarah Fear should've been called Jane Fear. Jane Hardy switched places with her best friend, Sarah Burns, when Sarah was engaged to wed Thomas Fear. Jane took on Sarah's name and relied on the fact that no one in Shadyside ever met Sarah Burns before. After Sarah, in Jane's place, died in a boat accident, Jane no longer had the option of revealing her true name. Unfortunately, because of this Sarah Burns returned to haunt Jane, claiming Jane was the one who should've died and vowed to destroy her life. So while Sarah ''Fear'' wasn't the Evil Spirit, Sarah ''Burns'' was.]]
* ConvictedByPublicOpinion: No one ever learned the real truth about the Evil Spirit, so people assumed Sarah herself was evil and responsible for the myriad of deaths that occurred around her. Technically, they were right in one regard. [[spoiler: It was ''a'' Sarah responsible for the deaths, but not the Sarah they were thinking of.]]
* DemonicPossession: As the first host for the Evil Spirit.
* GoodAllAlong: ''Fear Street Cheerleaders'' implies she was evil or at least complicit in creating the Evil Spirit. [[spoiler: She wasn't. Jane was possessed the whole time and fought to trap the Spirit inside her body so it wouldn't kill anyone else.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: After Sarah Burns tries possessing her one last time, Jane realizes her only option to stop Sarah is to kill herself, thereby trapping Sarah's vengeful soul inside her dead body. And it worked... until Sarah possessed Jennifer's body in ''The First Evil''.]]
* MamaBear: Becomes one to her niece and nephew. [[spoiler: Jane tried to pull off her sacrifice to save Margaret and Michael from being killed, but unfortunately their boat on Fear Lake capsized and they drowned anyway.]]
* SealedInsideAPersonShapedCan: Sarah was the can.

!!Simon Fear
The most well known member of the Fear Family besides his wife, Angelica, Simon was the family's patriarch up until the start of the 20th Century. After losing most of his loved ones at the hands of the Goode Family, Simon believed that the only way to survive was through obtaining power, and tried to alter his family's destiny by changing the spelling of their last name to "F-E-A-R" from "F-I-E-R."

----
* BeingEvilSucks: His inability to recognize messing with his family's evil power would only cause misfortune doomed him and his entire family. Sure he married a woman he loved, got rich, and had five kids, but by the end of his life [[spoiler:he outlived all five of his children (one he killed by accident), his wife's insane, and they're both loathed recluses.]]
* EvilIsNotAToy: Thought he could still take advantage of his family's dark legacy without succumbing to the curse. [[spoiler:He was wrong to the degree he got to watch all his kids die and eventually did himself and Angelica in thanks to his stubborn refusal to let go of his hatred for the Goodes.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: The ending of ''The Secret'' showed how he crossed into becoming a sadistic asshole.
* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler:He ''literally'' died before he was ever willing to make peace with the Goode Family, even though he had nothing to lose with Daniel marrying Nora.]]
* InsaneTrollLogic: He genuinely believed altering his last name was enough to protect him from a curse that's hounded his family for centuries.
* TheLoad: The events of ''The Burning'' showed Simon eventually became this for the Fear Family as a whole. [[spoiler: None of the Goodes were responsible for the harm done to his and Angelica's children or grandchildren. It was Simon's paranoia and favoritism of Hannah over Julia that led to the deaths of both daughters, which eventually alienated them from their sons who died later on. His refusal to ever make peace with the Goodes directly led to his, Angelica, and Daniel's death when he violently protested Daniel's marriage to Nora Goode.]]
* ManipulativeBastard: Had no qualms of using his power to threaten anyone who crossed him or to just get whatever he wanted.
* OffingTheOffspring: [[spoiler: In a moment of panic, he confused his daughter Hannah with the servant girl Lucy Goode and killed her. This drove Angelica insane and turned her and Simon into recluses.]]
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Together with Angelica, by the time of their deaths in ''The Burning'' the two had successfully outlived their two daughters and three sons.
* PapaWolf: Like Angelica, they may be messed up, but they'd do anything to protect their children. [[spoiler:And yet he ended up killing at least one of them.]]
* TooDumbToLive: His idea to spare his family from the curse, by changing the spelling of their last name from "F-I-E-R" to "F-E-A-R," wasn't short sighted so much as it was completely stupid. Other than this, Simon does absolutely nothing to distance himself or his surviving relatives from their family's evil heritage and he refuses to make peace with the Goode Family. [[spoiler: He also accidentally started the fire that burned down the Fear Street Mansion and killed him, his wife Angelica, and their grandson Daniel when he learned Daniel married Nora Goode.]]
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Until he lost his parents and one of his sisters.
* YouCantFightFate: He thought he could outsmart his family's curse by changing the spelling of their last name. [[spoiler: He couldn't.]]

!!Tyler Fier
From ''Forbidden Secrets''. Tyler is a wealthy Northerner who courts SouthernBelle Savannah Gentry, but when the Civil War begins Savannah chooses her home over Tyler, and he swears she'll regret that decision.

----
* DarkIsEvil: Has jet black hair and dark eyes, and lives in a mansion literally devoid of color.
* DeadAllAlong: [[spoiler: It turns out Tyler died at the Battle of Gettysburg, but has been keeping himself alive by feeding off of living people. His first victim was Savannah's brother, who was also the man who originally killed him.]]
* IfICantHaveYou: He's extremely bitter over Savannah choosing the South instead of him.
* KissingCousins: Subverted. Lucy's implied to be his cousin and is romantically obsessed with him, but Tyler sees her only as a child at best and a burden at worst and has no desire to fuel her delusions.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: [[spoiler: He's some kind of ghoul who kept himself alive by feeding on other people, but it's not clear if he feeds of blood or human energy.]]
* ShellShockedVeteran: He fought in the Civil War and claims to be haunted by his actions on the battlefield. After returning to Blackrose Manor, he starts slashing up his family portraits ranting they don't understand what he had to do to survive.
* SomethingAboutARose: He lives in Blackrose Manor, a mansion appropriately named after the multitude of black roses growing on the grounds.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Notable Protagonists]]

!! Becka Norwood
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bestfriendfs.jpg]]

A young woman whose life is destroyed by the appearance of Honey Perkins, a girl who claims to be Becka's "Best best friend" when they were younger. No matter what Becka does, Honey clings to her side and goes to extreme methods to keep Becka all to herself.

----
* DatingWhatDaddyHates: Her parents hate her boyfriend Bill because of his bad reputation and forced Becka to dump him. Ironically, while they went about this in the wrong way, the Norwoods are right that Bill's bad news because he's an asshole who tries to guilt Becka into going out with him.
* {{Gaslighting}}: Has been suffering from this thanks to nearly everyone in her life.
** Her parents forced her to break up with Bill because of his supposed bad behavior. Trish and Lilah remember breaking up with him caused Becka a lot of distress and messed her up. When brought up around her parents, Mrs. Norwood says it was ''Bill's'' fault Becka was distressed and doesn't acknowledge how forcing the break-up is what caused Becka's unhappiness.
** Lilah, Trish, and Bill repeatedly downplay Becka's concerns about Honey Perkins and are treating her like she's either imagining things or making a big deal out of nothing. Bill even admits Honey came on to him and acts like it was nothing, despite how it proves Becka's point that Honey is bad news.
** Ultimately, there's the rampant emotional and mental abuse Honey puts Becka through. She lies about things they did as kids that never happened, steals Becka's clothes and tells Becka she was allowed to keep them, and keeps Becka unable to focus by spinning sob stories and having mood swings that scare Becka.
* ItsAllMyFault: By ''The Best Friend 2'', Becka blames herself for what Honey did to Trish and Bill to the point she couldn't bring herself to visit them at the hospital. [[spoiler:Because Trish and Bill are both assholes, they ''agree'' with Becka instead of acknowledging how their disregard of what Honey was capable of led to their near-death experiences and accuse Becka of being a bad friend.]]
* NoSympathy:
** None of her friends and her parents are particularly bothered by what Honey is doing to Becka. Mr. and Mrs. Norwood love the girl because Honey is so sweet to them, while Lilah and Trish think Honey's behavior is funny and Bill thinks Becka is overreacting.
** Come ''The Best Friend 2'', [[spoiler: Trish and Bill have been terrorizing Becka as punishment for not visiting Trish in the hospital and not getting back together with Bill after Honey stabbed him and left him with one lung. This is despite that Becka suffered an emotional breakdown after the torment Honey put her through, which the two repeatedly ignored as it was going on. Had Trish and Bill listened to Becka about what Honey was really like and done something to help keep Honey out of Becka's life sooner, Honey wouldn't have attempted to kill them.]]
* SanitySlippage: By ''The Best Friend 2'', the memory of what Honey put her through and [[spoiler: Bill's death]] have taken their toll on Becka to the point she's slowly starting to act like Honey. After transferring to Waynesbridge, Becka befriends a girl named Glynnis and starts copying Glynnis the way Honey copied her. [[spoiler: Subverted when it turns out "Becka" was Honey the entire time (and Bill's not dead), after trying to steal Becka's identity following an escape from a mental hospital.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: She wasn't all that nice when she was a kid, as it turned out [[spoiler:she and her group of friends tricked Honey (then Hannah) into humiliating herself to make Honey leave them alone. However, Becka wasn't doing this out of cruelty alone, but because Honey had already been badgering Becka's friends for a long time. That said, as a teenager Becka's genuinely disgusted by what she did and tries to apologize to Honey for what happened.]]

!!Cally and Kody Fraiser
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/99fs.jpg]]

Fraternal twin sisters who lived in ''99 Fear Street''. Kody had an interest in the occult and the supernatural, while Cally had typical teenager girl interests like finding a job and a boyfriend. Their lives get destroyed by their new house's malignant power. [[spoiler: Cally doesn't survive.]]

----
* ActionSurvivor: Kody. Out of everyone in her family Kody is the only one who [[spoiler: escapes from being physically maimed, psychologically broken, or killed by the house.]]
* AgentMulder: Kody. In fact [[spoiler: she was partly responsible for some of the weird things going on in ''The First Horror'' in an attempt to get her sister to take her seriously. She's right.]]
* AngstySurvivingTwin: [[spoiler: Kody.]]
* BrokenBird: Both sisters to different degrees. [[spoiler: Cally becomes a bitter, murderous ghost, while Kody is left alive after losing her sister and her little brother.]]
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Well, more like Earn Your Bittersweet Ending, but after [[spoiler: having died and become a malevolent ghost haunting the house for years Cally eventually has a [[HeelFaceTurn change of heart]] and helps Kody (who has come back to look for her spirit) burn down the house and free her soul, along with countless other ghosts trapped within]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[spoiler: Cally was legitimately saddened and relieved when her brother's corpse was found in ''The Second Horror'', grateful that at least he hadn't become an angry spirit like she did. ''The Third Horror'' showed that Cally still loved her sister and helped her escape.]]
* EvilTwin: [[spoiler: Cally after she dies.]]
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Kody is the foolish to Cally's responsible.
* FraternalTwins: The original cover artwork demonstrates that the sisters don't look alike except for both having blonde hair. However, this gets played with in ''The Third Horror'' when Kody gets a role in a movie being produced about 99 Fear Street. Who's she playing? Her sister. Cally[[spoiler:'s ghost]] was shocked by how similar looking Kody had become.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: They both have blond hair and are quite [[NiceGirl Nice Girls]] [[spoiler: at least until Cally becomes a VengefulGhost]].
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: [[spoiler: After she died, Cally became a bitter spirit haunting 99 Fear Street and waiting for the day she could get revenge on her sister for having the nerve to survive. When Kody returns and makes Cally finally understand how the house has been manipulating her, Cally saves her sister and helps destroy the house for good.]]
* NiceGirl: Cally before being [[spoiler: turned into an evil ghost]]
** Kody as well, she is willing to risking going back to the house in the third book in order to put an end to the whole haunting.
* ProperlyParanoid: [[spoiler: Kody had every reason to believe something was wrong about 99 Fear Street, but her views are validated after her entire family is ripped apart.]]
* TheScully: Cally. [[spoiler: She's proved wrong in the worst way possible.]]
* {{Yandere}}: Cally to Brandt in ''The Second Horror''.

!!Corky Corcoran
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thenewevilfs.jpg]]

The main character of the majority of the ''Fear Street Cheerleaders'' series. Corky and her twin sister Bobbi were hoping to join the Shadyside High Cheerleading Squad after moving to Shadyside, but they were met with some animosity from the veteran members of the team. Things got worse when their bus crashed in the Fear Street Cemetery, and awakened an evil spirit in Sarah Fear's grave.

----
* AngstySurvivingTwin: Her sister Bobbi is killed off in ''The First Evil'', and she sometimes visits Corky as a ghost to warn her when the Evil Spirit returns.
* ArchEnemy: Of the Evil.
* CartwrightCurse: Awful things tend to happen to her boyfriends because of the Evil Spirit.
* DemonicPossession: Is controlled by the Evil Spirit in ''The Third Evil''.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: One of the more likable of the protagonists.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: She attempts to drown herself in ''The Third Evil'' when she becomes the newest host for the Evil Spirit, but thankfully it doesn't come to that.]]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: [[spoiler:She disappears after ''The New Evil'', and the only mention of her in ''The Evil Lives!'' has a coach saying "Poor Corky," either referring to all the awful shit Corky went through or implying she's dead.]]

!!Felicia Fletcher
[[quoteright:216:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/felica.png]]

A girl with extraordinary psychic abilities which she fears, Felicia fled to Shadyside believing she accidentally killed two people with her powers, making her a ''Runaway''.

----
* BlessedWithSuck: Her telekinetic abilities which she has little control over. [[spoiler: As ''Runaway'' progresses she gets better at controlling them.]]
* DoomMagnet: [[spoiler: She leaves one friend who turns out to be a psychotic {{Yandere}} who wanted her dead, only to befriend ''another one'' who also wanted her dead.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Her powers have done nothing to improve her life, instead they've made her a guinea pig for experimentation and have made her believe she's a murderous freak. [[spoiler: It later turns out half the things she thinks are her fault were really because of Debbie.]]
* MindOverMatter: She's a telekinetic.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: She used her powers to level an abandoned house, unaware there were two kids inside when it came down. [[spoiler: Her friend Debbie actually caused the house to collapse, and made Felicia think she did it ''and'' that the police were after Felicia to get rid of her.]]

!!Holly Flynn
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lightsoutfs.jpg]]

From ''Lights Out''. Holly is spending the summer as a counselor at the camp owned by her uncle, and the only one who realizes the disturbing number of accidents happening around the camp are in fact deliberate. Which makes her the target of a killer bent on revenge for something that happened in the camp's past.

----
* ButtMonkey: It's an understatement. Holly is treated like absolute ''shit'' by nearly everyone at the camp, which is worsened by her ex-best friend Geri Marcus working as a counselor alongside her.
* CassandraTruth: No one else is willing to believe the accidents are really planned and think Holly's just exaggerating, even as she keeps finding red feathers conspicuously placed at the scene of each "accident."
* HeKnowsTooMuch: When the "accidents" start getting aimed at her. Sadly for Holly, there's an abundance of suspects for her to choose from.
* OnlySaneMan: The only character in ''Lights Out'' who isn't stupid, cruel, or homicidal.

!!Hope Mathis
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fearhallfs.jpg]]

A neurotic college student attending Ivy State in ''Fear Hall''. Hope's life is pulled inside out when her boyfriend goes on a killing spree, and despite her best efforts she is unable to stop him.

----
* BeautifulAllAlong: [[spoiler: Hope's implied to be much more attractive than she gives herself credit for, with the subtle implication her mother imagined her supposed "Weight problems" and she was never chubby to begin with.]]
* BerserkButton: Being called fat.
* BigBeautifulWoman: Hope doesn't have a very positive body image, but it's implied she's rather beautiful even with her plus size. [[spoiler: Since the Angel personality has so many different admirers, this means those boys have been attracted to Hope.]]
* BrokenBird: Her mother was an unrepentant, abusive monster, and she broke Hope so badly she's unable to function without her three best friends and beloved boyfriend. [[spoiler: Who are all her imaginary friends.]]
* DeathByFallingOver: [[spoiler: After [[SplitPersonalityTakeover Darryl]] tries and fails to kill Chris and Melanie and it's revealed he never existed and was just Hope's split personality, she, Angel, Darryl and Jasmine are chased by the police to a balcony. Hope tearfully hugs them, thanking them for being them for her. Then the railing behind her breaks and she plummets to her death, all the while believing her imaginary friends are falling with her.]]
* TheDogBitesBack: Her first attempt at getting back at her mother was by sending her an insulting birthday card.
* EmbarrassingNickname: "Buttertubs."
* InsaneEqualsViolent: [[spoiler: She has multiple personalities, one of which is responsible for violently murdering five people and attempting to kill two more.]]
* IRejectYourReality / GoMadFromTheRevelation: Happens to her in ''Fear Hall: The Conclusion'' after being told that [[spoiler: her roommates and boyfriend are split personalities and refuses to believe it. She even dies denying it.]]
* IJustWantToBeLoved: The only reason she refuses to get rid of Darryl despite his anger and borderline psychotic personality is because he was the only person who ever actually "loved" her.
** ''Fear Hall: The Conclusion'' reveals that all Hope ever wanted was for someone to treat her like a human being. Sadly, by the time she actually is around people capable of treating her with love and kindness (Chris expresses interest in her and Melanie is worried about her) [[spoiler: her psychosis ruins it for her. Especially once the Darryl personality becomes more dominant and tries to kill Chris and Melanie.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Hope just wanted to have a normal life where she could wear what she wanted, have friends, and someone who loved her. Her mother Helayne made that impossible by humiliating her every chance she got and alienating anyone who ever got close to Hope.
* WeightWoe: She's always been a little on the chubby side, but growing up with a woman like her mother made this torture. When she wasn't being starved, Hope was forced to wear clothes that were never big enough for her and it made her feel like a freak. To this day, her weight is still something she's bitter about. [[spoiler: Her mother was so high strung and neurotic about Hope's weight, it's implied Hope was never chubby to begin with and Helayne only imagined it.]]

!! Lisa Blume
A character who appears in multiple books, most prominently ''The New Girl''.

----
* DeadpanSnarker: All the time.
* GossipyHens: Of the non-malicious sort.
* LovableAlphaBitch: She's pretty, popular, and rather sarcastic, but is really quite a nice person.
* PetTheDog: In ''Missing'', when she finds out her friend Cara's parents are, well, missing, she offers to let her stay with her until they're found.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Cory Brooks, although she wants more [[spoiler: at the end of ''The New Girl'' [[TheyDo they become more than just friends]]]]

!!Nicole Darwin
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/switchedfs.jpg]]

A depressed young woman from ''Switched'', whose best friend offers her a bizarre solution to her troubles: they switch bodies.

----
* ButtMonkey: Subverted. Nicole doesn't come across as a whiny protagonist, but more as a girl suffering from legitimate depression.
* ClearMyName: She tries to find Lucy, in her body, to prove that she didn't kill the Kramers.
* DrivenToMadness: [[spoiler: The ending of ''Switched'' reveals she's still in a mental hospital and she still believes Lucy is alive.]]
* TheEeyore: She's very gloomy and depressed over how things are going in her life.
* InsaneEqualsViolent: [[spoiler: Subverted. Her hallucinations are graphically violent, but Nicole herself is harmless.]]
* SanitySlippage: [[spoiler: Hallucinates her dead best friend is still alive and has suddenly become a vicious murderer.]]
* TheScapegoat: Lucy tricked Nicole into switching bodies with her because Lucy murdered her parents. [[spoiler: Except Lucy's parents aren't the ones who're dead. Lucy is.]]
* ThroughTheEyesOfMadness: [[spoiler: The real Lucy Kramer died three years ago in a car accident, and because Nicole was so close to Lucy her mind has not been able to accept that she's dead. She regularly hallucinates that Lucy is still alive, or that she ''is'' Lucy, but these hallucinations always turn extremely violent and bloody. The main clue to this is that, even though Nicole thinks she's in Lucy's body, everyone still addresses her as Nicole.]]
* TragicHero: [[spoiler: She thinks she must stop her best friend from killing people, but Nicole is just a sad, disturbed young woman who can't accept that her best friend is dead.]]

!!Niki Meyer
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/halloweenpartyfs.jpg]]

A deaf teenager with an uncanny ability to lip read, Niki is one of several teens invited to Justine Cameron's ''Halloween Party''.

----
* AmateurSleuth: Her suspicions about Justine nag her to the degree that she uses the scavenger hunt as a cover to do some snooping and figure out what her actual motives are.
* AmicableExes: With Alex.
* BadassNormal: Manages to keep her wits together during the finale of ''Halloween Party'' and helps everyone escape the fire in the Cameron Mansion.
* DisabilityImmunity: [[spoiler: When Justine traps everyone in the dining room and forces them to listen to recordings of car crashes to drive them insane, Niki's the only one not affected because she can't hear anything.]]
* TheFashionista: She's an accomplished seamstress. That dress she has on the cover of ''Halloween Party''? She made it herself.
* InsistentTerminology: She's repeatedly referred to as being "Special" because of her impaired hearing.
* NiceGirl: One of the more likable protagonists and one smart enough not to get involved in stupid pranks.
* OnlySaneMan: Absolutely refuses to partake in the "Jocks Vs. Wimps" prank war and is the only one willing to investigate Justine's shady backstory. If it hadn't been for Niki everyone would've most likely died.
* ProperlyParanoid: Out of all the guests at Justine Cameron's party, Niki's the only one who doesn't stop wondering why Justine specifically invited each of them. Niki also wonders about the inconsistencies in Justine's stories about her life like how she could've become so world weary at a young age, is suspicious of Justine's behavior during the party, and notices nothing about her bedroom looks as though it belongs to a teenager. [[spoiler: This is because Justine's really a grown woman and is manipulating the guests in order to kill them all as revenge for the deaths of her parents.]]
* SurroundedByIdiots: Well she doesn't think Terry and the others are ''idiots'', but she gradually loses her patience with everyone at the party because they're too hung up on that stupid prank war to listen to her and Terry when they learn the truth about Justine.

!!Reva Dalby
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/silentnightfs.jpg]]

The main character of the three ''Silent Night'' books. Reva's father is the owner of Dalby's Department Store, a staple in Shadyside's economy. Reva herself is a haughty spoiled brat who somehow manages to always piss someone off to the degree that, every Christmas, she's been stalked, terrorized, and almost murdered.

----
* AesopAmnesia: Oh so very much. ''Every'' book she's in ends with her promising to be a better person after going through something horrible... only she's still the same spoiled brat she was the year before. Unlike most examples of this trope, it actually becomes a plot point in the second book, [[spoiler: when her friend is revealed to have helped the villains kidnap her because she didn't keep her promise to change.]]
* AlphaBitch: Although people are dying to be invited at her parties, she's not very well liked by the kids at Shadyside High.
* CoolBigSis: As mentioned below, her little brother is one of maybe two or three people on the planet who she's actually nice to.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Her ex-boyfriend tells Reva that, despite how much of a giant bitch she is, he doesn't hate her. Worse, he feels ''sorry'' for her, because she's incapable of ever getting close to anyone and because she's just a miserable person. Reva... doesn't take this admission well.
* FreudianExcuse: The first book states her mother dying when she was young is what led her to be so mean, as she keeps her other emtoions bottled up. Which could also explain why her [[DaddysGirl father]] and [[CoolBigSis little brother]] are the only people she's actually nice to: they are the only immediate family she has left.
* {{Jerkass}}: She does show some signs of a HiddenHeartOfGold, but it's ''very'' well hidden.
* PetTheDog: ''Very, VERY'' rarely she will do something praiseworthy. In the second book she seems genuinely concerned about her cousin Pam [[spoiler: when the two of them are kidnapped]]. She also genuinely cares about her father and brother, who are pretty much the only people she is actually nice to.
* PrettyFreeloader: When she's at work in Dalby's she barely lifts a finger. Reva spends most of her time either insulting the customers, lying about being on break, or getting someone else to do her work for her.
* RichBitch: Her family owns Dalby's, an upscale department store in Shadyside Mall. Consequently, she's a very spoiled girl--and a very nasty one as well.
* {{Sadist}}: She seems to really like hurting people through pranks/cruel words etc. The beginning of the first book has her cruelly dumping her current boyfriend, who [[TheWoobie seems to be on the verge of tears]].
* SpoiledBrat: Her father makes her work at Dalby's to teach her some responsibility, but it's not working.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Devra Dalby (the implied niece of an unseen and now adult Reva) from ''Give Me a K-I-L-L.''
* UsedToBeASweetKid: She was apparently much nicer when she was younger, but that was before her mother died and she had a fight with her best friend.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: The Doomed Class]]
The Doomed Class, a.k.a. the Senior Class of Shadyside High 1999, was the subject of the year long ''Fear Street Seniors'' maxi series. In an attempt to get revenge on her math teacher for giving her a bad grade, Josie Maxwell accidentally cursed her entire grade with a "Doom Spell," leading to over a dozen deaths in the senior class and the fear that no one would live to see graduation.

!!Dana Palmer
The BetaBitch to Jade Feldman and another member of the cheer squad. She helps Jade stage a coup against Phoebe Yamura. When she's not with the squad she's either with her longtime boyfriend Mickey or with her twin sister Deirdre.

----
* AutoErotica: Lists "the back seat" as something she'll remember about high school in her yearbook page.
* BetaBitch: Specifically in ''Fight, Team, Fight!'' She suddenly starts acting as Jade Feldman's second-in-command and helps her screw with Phoebe's head so Jade can becoming captain.
* BreakTheHaughty: Has had it ''really'' bad by ''Graduation Day''. [[spoiler: She loses a few of her friends ''and'' her twin sister, and by June she's almost a nervous wreck.]]
* CainAndAbel: She's somewhat Cain compared to Deirdre, if only because she acts like such a bitch.
* {{Expy}}: She comes across as a version of [[Literature/SweetValleyHigh Jessica Wakefield]].
* MomentKiller: Deliberately. While serving as a summer camp counselor she makes sure to keep reminding Kenny that he has a girlfriend (her friend Jade) when another counselor keeps flirting with him.
* PolarOppositeTwins: With Deidre (one example is how sharing clothes is listed as one of Deidre's likes and Dana's dislikes in their yearbook pages), although they still form a SiblingTeam for the climax of ''The Thirst''.

!!Danielle Cortez
The first senior to die in ''The Thirst''. Danielle was a member of the cheer squad, and she was killed on the first day of school. Her body was found by Dana Palmer in the school gymnasium.

----
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Is implied to have dark skin if her pallor during her funeral is anything to go by.
* GenkiGirl: Was described as being very energetic and her yearbook entry mentions she loved dancing. Her teammates reminisce that she was always getting them to put some extra effort into their practices.
* TheHeart: Is often talked about as if she was the nicest member of the cheer squad. Seriously, no one ever says anything bad about this girl.
* ImColdSoCold: [[spoiler: She briefly awakens in her casket during her funeral, telling Dana Palmer she's cold.]]
* NiceGirl: The way the rest of the squad talks about her implies Danielle was incredibly well liked because she was friendly and energetic.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Never mentioned before the book where she died, something that, given the whole Doomed Class plot line, many fans found irritating.
* SacrificialLamb: She only got a few pages in before she died.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Her death set the tone for the rest of the school year.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: She doesn't even get an addition in the yearbook section until three books after she died.

!!Debra Lake
Was the center of a love triangle between her, Josh Maxwell, and Clark Dickson. Even though Josh and Debra broke up during junior year, Josh still wants to be with her causing her no end of annoyance.

----
* AgentScully: Looks for a rational explanation for things like Trisha's vision, although never unkindly.
* CrazyJealousGuy: Strongly dislikes both male and female examples of the trope and doesn't shy away from saying so in her yearbook page.
* TheConfidant: Many of the others trust her to confide worries in, and she generally does a good job of thinking on them and replying.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Jokingly implied by her yearbook quote "I would do anything for you, but I won't do that," the context of which is vague.
* HeKnowsTooMuch: [[spoiler: Mira kills Debra after she finds out about Mira's real feelings for Will and what they play in Justine Turner's death.]]
* TheLostLenore: [[spoiler: To Josh and Clark after she dies.]]
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Lists "sensitive guys" as being among her Yearbook likes, which probably explains why she broke up with Josh.
* SlutShaming: Pulls this on Mira Block. Debra doesn't trust Mira because she's been with so many guys.
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: Her relationship with the mysterious Clark gets some of this, although to be fair, it's largely her jealous ex Josh whose thinking that, and Clark ''is'' believed to be a vampire by most of the class. [[spoiler: and in fact he is, although a [[FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire not necessarily a bad one]]]].

!!Greta Bradley
Another member of the cheer squad and a friend of Dana Palmer's, Greta is considered the senior class's resident IceQueen.

----
* AlphaBitch: Carries this vibe, although she doesn't come off as nearly as bitchy as Jade Feldman does.
* AscendedExtra: In ''The Gift'', where she finally gets an entry in the yearbook section [[spoiler: and dies.]]
* DeathByIrony: [[spoiler: Ceramics and New Year's Eve are listed as her dislikes in the yearbook section. She's killed at Jennifer Fear's New Year's party, when a heavy decorative bowl is brought down on her head and cracks her skull open.]]
* IceQueen: Is described as being "made of ice" by Jennifer Fear.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Possibly towards Jennifer Fear. Some of her dialogue implies she assumed Jennifer had known Ty had multiple girlfriends and was ok with it.
* MisplacedRetribution: [[spoiler: Dominique Fear possesses Trisha and uses her to kill Greta because she's seeing Ty, or as she thinks of him, "Nigel." While Dominique eventually tries to murder Ty as well, it's distressing Greta was killed off first before Ty.]]
* ReallyGetsAround: Implied by her quote in the yearbook section, "That Boy Is Mine." Sort of makes more sense as to why she'd go out with Ty Sullivan who has a similar reputation, since it looks as though she didn't care if he saw other people.
* SatelliteCharacter: Particularly around Jade Feldman and Ty Sullivan.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: She suddenly becomes much more fun when she's with Ty Sullivan.

!!Jade Feldman
The AlphaBitch of the cheerleading squad and girlfriend of Kenny Klein. Jade is jealous of Phoebe Yamura for getting the captain slot since this is their last year on the squad before graduating, and will do anything to get it from her.

----
* AlphaBitch: The most prominent example in the ''Seniors'' books besides Trisha Conrad.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: Or rather, contrasting sequel rival and RedHerring. She serves as one in many respects to Kimmy Bass from the ''Cheerleaders'' miniseries, who also ends up feuding with their cheer captain (and her sister), and rallies a lot of the squad in a campaign against her. Kimmy is a BigBeautifulWoman whose spirit and pep are emphasized over her athleticism, was recently dumped by her boyfriend the quarterback, has low self-confidence, first turns against the main character on behalf of a friend (who got cut from the team when the Corcoran sisters were accepted) and gradually becomes FireForgedFriends with Corky. Jade is in better shape, with her athleticism being emphasized over her pep and spirit, is in a stable relationship with [[TheSmartGuy the valedictorian]], is kind of arrogant, turns on Phoebe out of resentment for a perceived wrong to herself, and doesn't end up FireForgedFriends with Phoebe [[spoiler: although she might have if she'd gotten away from the stalker, like Dana did based on the epilogue]].
* CrazyPrepared: Deconstructed. She spends the summer before senior year at a study camp to prepare for the [=SATs=]. It doesn't seem to have been either enjoyable or successful, considering she lists SAT prep as something she hates (along with cheer captains and ghosts) in her yearbook ''and'' she has to cheat on a test to keep her grades high enough to stay on the squad.
* DirtyCoward: [[spoiler: When the cheerleaders are abducted by Phoebe's ''real'' stalker, Jade quickly loses her bluster.]]
* DudeWheresMyRespect: She believes she deserves to be the head cheerleader because she can perform a triple back flip.
* {{Flanderization}}: While upset Phoebe got to be head cheerleader over her all the way back in her first appearance, it's not portrayed as being such a toxic and driving obsession for her until ''Fight Team, Fight!''
* GossipyHens: Lists "gab fests with Dana" as one of her yearbook highlights.
* GreenEyedMonster: To Phoebe.
* [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Hoist By Her Own Petard]]: Only gets kidnapped along with Phoebe by the stalker due to [[spoiler: having engineered a fake kidnapping right beforehand as a cruel prank]]. Possibly a CallBack to her yearbook quote: "You get what you pay for."
* JerkassToOne: Aside from showing Jennifer Fear some of the wariness and distrust that everyone else does, she isn't mean to anyone besides Phoebe, but her treatment of Phoebe is ''awful'' and entirely undeserved.
* LockedInAFreezer: [[spoiler: Jade gets impaled on a hook inside an old meat locker.]]
* ManipulativeBitch: She leads most of the cheerleaders, except Caitlin Lemonda and Samantha, against Phoebe.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Her boyfriend Kenny is the valedictorian and a fairly mellow person, while Jade's arguably the most athletic of the cheerleaders and a volatile when it comes to things like who gets to be head cheerleader.
* SeriousBusiness: Being head cheerleader is this for her.
* SweetTooth: Lists ice cream as something she looks back on in her yearbook page.
* TeensLoveShopping: Yet another tidbit from her yearbook page, and she's seen at the mall with Greta and Dana a few times.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Her worst qualities aren't really apparent until the seventh book, although delayed character focus is probably part of that (and how she doesn't share much screen time with Phoebe until that book) making it hard to tell if she's this or a BitchInSheepsClothing.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: She has this on Dana Palmer. Compare Dana in ''The Thirst'' to ''Fight Team Fight!'' Dana's generally more nasty if she's around Jade.

!!Jennifer Fear
Jennifer has been picked on her whole life for being associated with the cursed Fear Family, and while her bullying isn't as severe now that she's in high school, her family roots still make life difficult for her.

----
* BerserkButton: She's quietly resigned to it for the most part, but lists people being afraid of the Fear Family as something she hates in her yearbook entry.
* ButtMonkey: For being a Fear.
* CallingTheOldManOut: [[spoiler: After her father admits that she's not a Fear, Jennifer calls him out for lying to her all her life even as the kids in school bullied and mocked her because of her supposed background.]]
* DaddyIssues: [[spoiler: When Jennifer discovers she's not actually a Fear and that her father lied to her and her mother about their heritage, Jennifer goes absolutely ballistic realizing her life has been a living hell for nothing. Her relationship with her father gets badly damaged as a result of this, as Jennifer believes she can no longer trust him. This goes on for months.]]
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler: Dominique Fear briefly used her in her early stages of trying to kill Ty Sullivan, in an effort to set Jennifer up as a patsy.]]
* IAmNotWeasel: [[spoiler: Jennifer's family aren't actually related to the Fears. Her grandfather just took the last name when he moved to Shadyside because it had influence.]]
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: Despite how much she has to gain from revealing that [[spoiler: she's not really a Fear]]. She chooses not to because of the negative side effect it would have in [[spoiler: revealing that Trisha ''is'' a Fear]].

!!Justin Thompson
A computer geek regularly picked on by most of the other guys in the senior class.

----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: To Trisha Conrad.
* AscendedExtra: Suddenly becomes prominent in ''Sweetheart, Evil Heart'' [[spoiler: where he kills Ty Sullivan and tries to kill Trisha Conrad]].
* BestYearsOfYourLife: Absolutely hates Shadyside High and mentions in his yearbook page that he doesn't want to remember a single thing from it afterwards.
* TheChewToy: Is beaten up, dunked in the toilets, and overall is used as a punching bag by most of the guy seniors.
* EntitledBastard: [[spoiler: He thinks he's owed Trisha Conrad's love for "Saving her" from Ty Sullivan, even though Trisha had already humiliated and dumped Ty shortly before his death.]]
* FourEyesZeroSoul: In ''Sweetheart Evil Heart''.
* FreudianExcuse: [[spoiler: After all the humiliation and physical abuse he endured from most of his guy classmates, it's no wonder he finally had enough and killed Ty.]]
* HiddenDepths: Lists the Beach Boys and Barry White as among his Yearbook likes.
* IfICantHaveYou: [[spoiler: He expected Trisha Conrad would be grateful when he told her he killed Ty, and when she rejects him he decides to kill her too.]]
* {{Nerd}}: Seriously, just look at his photo in the yearbook entry as proof.
* NotSoHarmless: When Trisha finds out [[spoiler: he ran down Ty in cold blood. Justin suddenly becomes utterly terrifying and tries to kill Trisha when she rebuffs him.]]
* WhosLaughingNow: [[spoiler: He kills Ty Sullivan as payback for all the abuse Ty's heaped on him, and probably would've done the same to the other guys if he hadn't died.]]

!!Marla Newman
Contender for Valedictorian with Kenny Klein, Marla is rather haughty and has a prominent dislike of Josie Maxwell.

----
* AcademicAlphaBitch: Has a high opinion of herself and looks down on others.
* TheBGrade: Receives one on an important French exam, ruining her chances for valedictorian... until her latent magical abilities, boosted by Roxanne and Elena, turns the grade into a 98.
* BreakTheHaughty: The opening chapters of ''Wicked'' has got Marla humiliated numerous times, leaving her stressed and desperate enough to join Roxanne and Elena's coven.
* CantGetAwayWithNothing: After a particularly stressful day, Marla relieves her tension by writing a list of everybody she dislikes and why. The next day the list is tacked on one of the school's bulletin board, royally pissing off most of her classmates.
* DraggedOffToHell: [[spoiler: ''Wicked'' ends with Marla dragged under the ground by black roots due to her disobeying the rules of the contract she signed.]]
* DroppedABridgeOnHer: [[spoiler: A common criticism of her fate is that it made no sense, given how Roxanne and Elena had also broken the rules of the coven and not been punished for it]].
* EvilIsNotAToy: She joins a coven with two juniors in ''Wicked'' and learns all too quickly why messing with dark forces beyond her understanding is ''not'' a good thing.
* ForTheEvulz: She took a job at her dad's hardware store during the summer simply because Josie Maxwell applied for it and knew it would mess Josie's summer.
* GassHole: She embarrasses herself during a class debate by loudly belching in front of the whole class. It gets worse when someone made a recording of it and played it over the school's intercom system.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: When Roxanne and Elena use their power to push Josie through the school's glass doors, severely injuring Josie and sending her to the hospital. Marla feels guilty because she secretly wanted to make Josie suffer and likes to screw with her, but didn't actually want to hurt Josie. She even sends Josie flowers while she's in the hospital.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Her mom sets some unhealthy standards of achievements from Marla.
* WomanScorned: A lighter version when she [[spoiler: Trisha and Phoebe prank Ty for three-timing them]].

!!Mary O'Connor
A girl from the poor side of town who's got it rather rough. She gets arrested for shoplifting, and early in the school year it becomes an open secret that her boyfriend is seeing Trisha Conrad behind her back. This is all before she becomes the subject of a disturbing project...

----
* BrokenBird: Gets it rather hard in the beginning of the school year when she gets arrested for shoplifting and her boyfriend cheats on her with Trisha Conrad.
* DisappearedDad: Her father walked out on her family a few years ago.
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler: She gets some very epic revenge on Mr. Morley and Rob by tricking them into thinking she's poisoned them as revenge for manipulating them, when she just spiked their drinks with sleeping pills she got from her mother.]]
* TrueCompanions: She's very close with Stacey Malcolm, and Stacey is the only person willing to get angry at both Gary ''and'' Trisha for how much they've hurt Mary.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: She seems to completely disappear from the series after her focus in ''Last Chance''.
* YouHaveToBelieveMe: When she actually tries to tell someone about what Mr. Morley is making her do, they don't believe her.

!!Mira Block
One of Clarissa Turner's best friends. Mira is absolutely boy crazy and if she's got her eyes on someone, she'll stop at nothing to get him. [[spoiler: She's even willing to resort to murder]].

----
* FalseFriend: To Clarissa.
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler: The first character to kill a prominent and sympathetic Senior]].
* KarmaHoudini: In a much broader sense. [[spoiler: She gets sent to a mental hospital after she's revealed as the killer of Justine Turner and Debra Lake, but this means she might be one of the few surviving seniors left after the Doom Spell entity's implied to kill the rest at the end of ''Graduation Day''.]]
* ReallyGetsAround: Has a new boyfriend almost every week.
* SlutShaming: She gets scrutiny from Debra Lake because she has so many boyfriends.
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler: She openly torments Clarissa's adopted brother Aaron by taking him on a boat ride on Fear Lake, knowing full well he's deathly afraid of water. She planned to kill him along with Clarissa.]]
* {{Yandere}}: [[spoiler: She's been lusting after Will Reynolds for years and murdered both Justine Turner and Debra Lake when they got in the way of making that happen.]]

!!Phoebe Yamura
Captain of the Cheerleading Squad and one of the smartest kids in class, Phoebe's life isn't exactly easier when her parents hover over her shoulder to make sure she gets straight A's, and when certain other members of the squad wish to make life miserable for her.

----
* AsianAndNerdy: Phoebe is Japanese-American and probably the third or fourth smartest student in her class, [[AcademicAthlete although she's also a cheerleader.]]
* ButtMonkey: To most of the cheer squad thanks to Jade's influence.
* CantGetAwayWithNuthin: The one time she decides to be NotSoAboveItAll and gets involved in pranking anyone, [[spoiler: out of revenge for being cheated on]], she ends up feeling guilty about it even before [[spoiler: Ty]] gets murdered by one of their other enemies and she is briefly suspected of killing him by the police.
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: [[spoiler: After making it up to the last book, she's killed off during the school's award ceremony in ''Graduation Day''.]]
** [[spoiler: Given how this incident receives no real explanation, it almost felt like a buildup to a FakingTheDead or HesJustHiding reveals but as far as we know, it was neither]].
* ImmigrantParents: Both of her parents were born in Japan and have conservative views about dating.
* SitcomArchNemesis: With Jade Feldman.
* WomanScorned: A lighter version when she, [[spoiler: Trisha and Marla prank Ty for three-timing them]].
* YankTheDogsChain: Things are looking up for her at the end of ''Fight Team, Fight!'' with her relationship with Ty seeming more stable her fences being mended with her parents and fellow cheerleaders, and no one threatening her life. By the next book [[spoiler: She's found out Ty is cheating on her]]. and then things start going bad for her again.

!!Trisha Conrad
One of the richest kids in class thanks to her father owning the Division Street Mall. Trisha suffers from prophetic visions she can't control, and is the one who predicted none of the senior class will live to see graduation.

----
* AlphaBitch: The books try to present her as a LovableAlphaBitch, but she comes across as more of an ass than that would allow.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: People act surprised when Trisha acts bitchy and mean, but the truth is she's only just barely hiding this side to her personality. She's a home wrecker who steals boyfriends, and is more than happy to [[spoiler: make sure Jennifer Fear never lets anyone know Trisha is actually a member of the Fear Family so she doesn't get ostracized. You know, the way Jennifer has been her entire life.]]
* BlessedWithSuck: Her visions which she can't control. [[spoiler: She inherited them thanks to her ancestor, Dominique Fear.]]
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler: Was being controlled by Dominique Fear's vengeful spirit in ''The Gift''.]]
* DreamingOfThingsToCome: Claims to have psychic visions. A lot of what she claims to see is total BS (to the point where amused chuckling is a common reaction to her announcing she's had a vision of someone dying) but some of it does indeed happen.
* InTheBlood: [[spoiler: One explanation for some of her inner-selfishness, which a lot of her Fear ancestors also had]].
* KarmaHoudini: For stealing Gary Fresno. In the long run, Trisha is still this despite what is listed in LaserGuidedKarma, as [[spoiler: she somehow manages to survive the entire series.]]
* LaserGuidedKarma: Slightly subverted. She's frequently at the center of horrible events during the senior year, which can be considered payback for the way she treats everyone else. This includes [[spoiler: being possessed by Dominique Fear and being used to kill Greta Bradley, being terrorized by Justin Thompson, and almost being pushed to her death during her vacation in Arizona. In the larger scheme of things, Trisha doesn't punished as much as some of the other Seniors for her horrible attitude since she survives.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler: When Gary Fresno is killed in ''Prom Date'', Trisha is absolutely horrified and blames herself for it happening.]]
* SerialHomewrecker: She had two boyfriends throughout the series, and she dated them while they were dating other girls.
* TheUnfairSex: The blame is placed solely on Gary Fresno for the fiasco with Mary O'Connor, and the only person willing to admit Trisha's being a bitch is Stacey Malcolm. Then, when she starts going out with Ty Sullivan while she's still with Gary, ''she'' has the nerve to actually get revenge on Ty for cheating on ''her''.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: [[spoiler: She never tells Jennifer Fear that she'd been going out with Ty ''before'' he broke up Jennifer, and her internal thoughts make it clear she's prepared to threaten Jennifer if she ever considers telling anyone about her family heritage.]]

!!Ty Sullivan
Ty's family moved to Shadyside the summer before the senior year began, and he quickly establishes himself as a ladies man.

----
* BastardBoyfriend: He was especially terrible to Jennifer Fear and treated her the worst of all his girlfriends. Ironically, she's the only one he actually broke up with yet his behavior towards her gets even worse ''after'' he's no longer seeing her.
* BrokenAce: [[spoiler: Is thoroughly humiliated in ''Sweetheart, Evil Heart'' before he's killed by Justin Thompson.]]
* ChickMagnet: Was dating 5 girls at the same time.
* {{Expy}}: His DayInTheLimelight storyline is similar to that if [[spoiler: Bobby Newkirk]]. From the original series who also [[spoiler: Was a serial cheater who got punished by a bunch of girls he dated teaming up for a complicated prank that involved making him afraid of a girl who didn't actually exist]]. Although unlike Ty, [[spoiler: No one killed Bobby afterwards]].
* FireForgedFriends: With Kenny, after the second book.
* JerkJock: Like most of the prominent male characters in ''Seniors'', he especially loved to beat up Justin Thompson. [[spoiler: Justin gets his revenge.]]
* ReallyGetsAround: Has dated Jennifer Fear, Greta Bradley, Trisha Conrad, Phoebe Yamura, and Marla Newman.
* SmallNameBigEgo: He thinks he's God's gift to the girls of Shadyside, and openly brags about dating three girls at once with none of them being the wiser. [[spoiler: Or so he thinks.]]
* SmugSnake: He genuinely thought he was smarter than Trisha, Marla and Phoebe for seeing all of them at the same time and making sure they never knew he was cheating on all of them. [[spoiler: Boy was he wrong.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Villains]]
!!Catherine Hatchett
Of the ''Cataluna Chronicles'' miniseries. Catherine was a witch girl born in the 17th Century, where she was believed to be a source of bad luck due to her red crescent moon birthmark. After she died, her spirit somehow possessed the mysterious car known as the Cataluna, where she'll gleefully murder any unlucky person to own the car.

----
* AxCrazy: Before and after she died she was incredibly vicious and inflicted some very nasty deaths on her victims. One boy was drowned alive in boiling hot motor oil in ''The Dark Secret''.
* BullyingTheDragon: Because who would have thought constantly harassing the girl you believed to be a witch would have horrible consequences?
* EmbarrassingNickname: "Bad Luck Catherine."
* MyCarHatesMe: One half of the time, as the Cataluna, she'll just kill off whoever is trying to ride her when she's not trying to brainwash them.
* RetGone: [[spoiler: The last book in the series implies Catherine had been erased from history, only William's new baby sister is born with a suspiciously similar birthmark shaped like a red crescent moon.]]
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Catherine was a poor girl who was hounded and ostracized by her community and her parents because they thought she was a monster... and then she became one.
* WomanScorned: What ultimately drove her off the deep end.

!!Chrissy Minor
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oneevilsummer.jpg]]

Summer babysitter for the Conklin family in ''One Evil Summer''. Amanda Conklin is immediately suspicious of Chrissy's odd and downright disturbing behavior, but the fact that her family adores Chrissy allows her to manipulate things to make Amanda look unstable.

----
* AnimalsHateHim: Amanda's cat hisses at Chrissy when they first meet, and Amanda discovers that her pet birds are terrified of being in her presence. [[spoiler: Chrissy kills all of them.]]
* CaptainErsatz: The way she waltzes into the Conklin family and starts manipulating them to her advantage, while clearly driving one specific member insane, makes her come across as a counterpart to [[Film/TheHandThatRocksTheCradle Peyton Mott.]]
* DevilInPlainSight: Amanda sees her actually hiss back at her cat, and late at night she sees Chrissy float in midair and laugh at her.
* EvilTwin: She has a comatose sister named Lilith whom she claims is evil. [[spoiler: She's Lilith, and doesn't have a sister.]]
* PsychicPowers: She can read minds and move things with her mind. [[spoiler: This appears to be a result of the carbon monoxide poisoning from her father's group suicide attempt.]]
* WeNamedTheMonkeyJack: Inverted. [[spoiler: Her real name is Lilith, and she took the name "Chrissy" from her pet cat.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler: Tries to kill Kyle and Merry when she has them to herself.]]
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler: Chrissy blames Amanda's father for the deaths of her parents, and planned to kill the Conklins after already killing the families of the judge and the district attorney in the arson case her father was involved in.]]

!!Darryl Hoode
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/darrylfearhall.jpg]]

Hope Mathis's devoted boyfriend from ''Fear Hall''. Darryl is insanely jealous and has a horrible temper. He will do anything to make Hope happy, no matter how much she begs him to stop. [[spoiler: He's actually a violent split personality Hope created when it looked as though the boy she liked only dated her as a joke.]]

----
* AxCrazy: Is utterly vicious and psychotic in his pursuit of making Hope happy and making sure she remains his. [[spoiler: He's basically Hope's repressed anger and hatred, a channel to act out her desire to hurt those who've hurt her. In the same sense, his idea of "love" is warped because Hope has never really known a positive version of love in her life.]]
* BastardBoyfriend: He can be just as abusive as Hope's mother, telling her she'll never be rid of him and has even pressed her BerserkButton by calling her fat.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: He's responsible for some of the meanest deaths in the franchise, including beating a man to death with a golf putter to the point he cut off the man's scalp and ear, covertly filling a jacuzzi with enough chlorine to burn someone to death, and burning a woman alive by repeatedly using a steam press on her.
* HateSink: He is an emotionally, verbally, and physically abusive bastard who micromanages Hope's relationships with other people, harasses her roommates and threatens them on a regular basis, isn't above mocking Hope's weight and appearance, and murders anyone whom he thinks is getting too close to Hope or is making life difficult for her. [[spoiler: This makes sense, as he's literally the personification of Hope's repressed anger and bitterness in the form of a split personality.]]
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: But his idea of making Hope happy amounts to sadistically killing off the people who've made fun of her.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: He kills in the name of his love for Hope.
* PsychopathicManchild: When the girls try to tell him it's time for him to turn himself, he starts screaming at them that they don't understand his feelings.
* SplitPersonalityTakeover: [[spoiler: He kills the Eden personality in ''The Beginning'', and this can be considered as the Darryl personality beginning to overpower the others. Especially since Eden stays dead.]]
* TheThingThatWouldNotLeave: No matter how much Hope actually tells Darryl to leave, he never will.
* VillainProtagonist: During the segments where he's the narrator in ''The Conclusion''.
* WouldHurtAChild: He once contemplated grabbing a baby stroller and throwing it down the street because the baby's mom bumped into him.

!!Honey Perkins
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bestfriendtwo.jpg]]

Of the two ''Best Friend'' novels. Honey showed up in Becka Norwood's room one day, claiming that Becka was her old best friend when they were little despite that Becka has absolutely no memory of Honey. From that moment, Honey starts forcing herself into Becka's daily routine before dressing like Becka, dating Becka's old boyfriends, dumping them, and ultimately tries to ''be'' Becka.

----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: To Becka Norwood. If the two of them are in the same room, Becka is the ''only'' person Honey will acknowledge in any way, shape, or form. [[spoiler: The only time Honey will acknowledge anyone else is when she's trying to kill them.]]
* AngstySurvivingTwin: [[spoiler: ''The Best Friend 2'' reveals Honey's real name is Hannah Paulsen, and she had a twin brother named Harold. When they were nine, their father shot and killed their mom and Harold before he turned the gun on himself. Hannah saw the whole thing, and it's one factor in why she's so desperate to become Becka.]]
* AxCrazy: She ''really'' goes off the deep end in ''The Best Friend 2''.
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler: She got away with ruining Becka's life at the end of the first book, making Becka think ''she'' stabbed Bill. However, the second book reveals she was briefly institutionalized and is later arrested by the police for murdering Eric.]]
* BigBeautifulWoman: Subverted. She's not considered as pretty as Becka, but has a very dramatic appearance.
* CerebusRetcon: In ''The Best Friend'', there was never a real explanation over why Honey so badly wanted to be like Becka. ''The Best Friend 2'' [[spoiler: revealed Becka and her friends cruelly humiliated her when she was 9, and shortly afterwards she watched her mom and brother get shot to death before her dad killed himself. While this makes her a ''little'' sympathetic, Becka and her friends remember that Honey was already a very whiny, needy person no one could stand to be around.]]
* DissonantSerenity: After Becka finally screams at Honey that they ''aren't'' best friends, nor does she even want Honey as a regular friend, Honey just cheerful responds she dumped her boyfriend (Becka's ex) the same way Becka did.
* EvilRedhead: She's described as having auburn hair.
* {{Expy}}: Of Hedy from ''Film/SingleWhiteFemale'', given she develops an unhealthy obsession with a young woman she starts trying to copy in ever way [[spoiler: to make up for losing her twin sibling]].
* FashionVictimVillain: Invoked in-universe. When she first shows up in Becka's room, Lilah and Trish comment on how horribly her bright orange sweater clashes with the rest of her clothes, make-up and full figure, as it makes her look like a big pumpkin.
* {{Gaslighting}}: She runs Becka through a complete gauntlet of gaslighting. Honey starts off by lying about how they were "Best best friends" in 4th grade when Becka clearly remembers her old best friend was Deena Martinson. Honey starts stealing Becka's belongings and claims Becka told her she could borrow them, and when Becka calls her on it Honey gets physically violent. Honey then brushes this off by saying it's part of "The Gotcha Game" that she and Becka supposedly had in grade school. [[spoiler: She caps it off by taking advantage of Becka's fever-addled head to convince the poor girl she stabbed Bill to death in self-defense. Thankfully the second book shows no one fell for Honey's deceit and she was arrested for almost killing Bill.]]
* IfICantHaveYou: The minute Becka finally has enough and tells Honey to get out of her life, Honey decides to get rid of Becka's friends before finally trying to kill Becka herself.
* IJustWantToBeYou: She is convinced Becka has a wonderful life and will do anything to have it for herself. [[spoiler: In fact, the second book opens with Honey trying to pull off that she ''is'' Becka, starting over at another school with forged transcripts before she has a psychotic breakdown in front of the real Becka.]]
* IRejectYourReality: Becka comes to believe Honey lives in her own little fantasy world because she refuses to acknowledge anything she doesn't want to hear. And when she does, she gets scary.
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler: At the end of ''The Best Friend''. But she's arrested in ''The Best Friend 2''.]]
* MadnessMantra: "HONEY'S DEAD! HONEY'S DEAD!"
* ManipulativeBitch: She uses saccharine sob stories to guilt trip Becka on a regular basis. When Becka tries to retrieve her parrot pin, Honey pleads with Becka that Becka "Gave" her the pin and looks like she's about to cry until Becka feels too uncomfortable to push the subject further.
* TheSpook: In the original story, Honey appears out of nowhere, without any kind of backstory or apparent motive for stalking Becka. Even the house that she claims to have recently moved into appears to be empty most of the time, including at the end of the book when it is visited by Bill and Becka. Becka and her friends at one point skim through an old yearbook and find a picture of someone who they ''think'' might be Honey, but even then, it's left vague as to whether or not it actually is Honey. [[NothingIsScarier All of this serves to just make the whole situation even creepier.]]
* SugaryMalice: She frequently talks about how much she loves being Becka's "Best best friend," but all the praise she heaps on Becka is undercut with the intention of gaslighting her.
* TastesLikeDiabetes: Invoked in-universe. Becka grows to loathe Honey because she's so goddamn clingy and smothering with all her affection and hugs. She's especially disgusting with Becka's parents, who grow to love her because she's so sweet to them which only stands to piss Becka off.
* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler: ''The Best Friend 2'' opens with Honey trying to be Becka Norwood at a new school, because she wants to "get rid of Honey" once and for all. Her ex-boyfriend Eric calling her on her charade and showing her the ''real'' Becka is nearby brings an end to this plan.]]
* TragicVillain: [[spoiler: As ''The Best Friend 2'' shows.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler: When she strangles Eric to death, she blames Becka for it, screaming over and over again "''YOU DID IT! YOU DID IT!''"]]
* {{Yandere}}: To Becka, originally. She later just comes to fully loathe her and wants her dead.

!!Justine Cameron
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/justinehalloweenparty.jpg]]

A transfer student to Shadyside in ''Halloween Party'', where she invites several teenagers from different social cliques to a private party at her uncle's mansion. [[spoiler: Her real name is Enid, she's actually thirty years old and planning revenge for the deaths of her parents by murdering the children of the teenagers responsible for their deaths.]]

----
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Justine says that she invited Niki and the others simply because she wanted to get to know them better, and people start to feel sympathy towards her when she gets repeatedly harassed by assholes who weren't invited to her party. [[spoiler: Niki is the only one is naturally suspicious of Justine's flimsy reasons, and unfortunately the sympathy gained from earlier makes it easier for the kids to walk into her trap.]]
* BuxomIsBetter: At one point, Terry comments on how "stacked" she is, much to Nikki's annoyance.
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler: When her plan completely falls apart, she tries to kill herself by running into the burning mansion but is stopped.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: She's [[spoiler: 30, but can pass herself as a teenager without even trying]].
* TheVamp: She's very attractive and sensual. [[spoiler: This actually becomes disturbing when it's revealed she's at least a decade and a half older than the kids, meaning she only just avoids committing statutory rape.]]
* WoundedGazelleGambit: [[spoiler: She rigged some accidents for herself so as to lower everyone's guard, such as staging a fall of the balcony in the living room.]]
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler: Her parents were killed in a car crash caused by a bunch of rowdy teenagers who'd been drag racing. So for revenge, Justine planned to find the children of the teenagers involved that night and kill them in a way similar to how her parents died.]]

!!Rosha Nelson
[[quoteright:236:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/theperfectdate.jpg]]

A mysterious new girl who captures Brady's attention in ''The Perfect Date'', a year after the mutilation and death of his girlfriend Sharon Noles.

----
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler: The end reveals she actually did murder Brady, and now he's a zombie like her.]]
* EvilIsPetty: Subverted. [[spoiler: She wants to murder Brady as revenge for causing her extremely graphic death by his indifference, not just that her old body got scarred.]]
* HoneyTrap: She uses this tactic on Brady to drive a wedge between him and his current girlfriend.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: [[spoiler: She's not exactly a ghost, but more of an evil spirit that stole another girl's body to come back to life and kill Brady. However, the girl she killed used Sharon's old, scarred body to stop her.]]
* SignificantAnagram: Of [[spoiler: Sharon Noles. She even points out how painfully obvious it was the entire time, but Brady was just too stupid to realize it.]]
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: Invoked. [[spoiler: After revealing she's Sharon and that her name was just an anagram, she wonders what she ever saw in Brady because he's such a complete idiot.]]
* WhoNamesTheirKidDude: She claims her mother got "Rosha" from a romance novel. [[spoiler: It's just another way to spell Sharon.]]

!! 99 Fear Street

A semi-sentient HauntedHouse in the House Of Evil trilogy
----
* TheCorrupter: [[spoiler: It kills Cally in the first book and changes her from a NiceGirl to a VengefulGhost.]]
* CoveredInGunge: At several times it makes foul green slime come out of pipes and faucets.
* ForcedToWatch: In the first book it traps the family dog inside the walls, but the family can still hear it barking until it dies. [[spoiler: later, James also gets trapped and the family can still hear his cries for help but can't do anything.]]
* GeniusLoci: It's basically an evil sapient house whose consciousness is made up of hundreds of tormented ghosts [[spoiler: including Cally's at the end of the first book.]]
* HauntedHouse: And a particularly horrible one at that
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler: it traps little James in one of its walls until he dies.]]
* YouDirtyRat: There are a bunch of really aggressive rats living in the house, although they seem to be manifestations of the evil of the house rather than mere animals.

* PunnyName: Lucifer, anyone?

* NoSympathy:

* AngstySurvivingTwin: [[spoiler: Kody.]]

* ArchEnemy: Of the Evil.

* MindOverMatter: She's a telekinetic.

* BerserkButton: Being called fat.
* EmbarrassingNickname: "Buttertubs."

----
* DeadpanSnarker: All the time.

* AmicableExes: With Alex.

* GreenEyedMonster: To Phoebe.

----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: To Trisha Conrad.

----
* FalseFriend: To Clarissa.

* SitcomArchNemesis: With Jade Feldman.

* EmbarrassingNickname: "Bad Luck Catherine."

* MadnessMantra: "HONEY'S DEAD! HONEY'S DEAD!"

Zack's new teacher, who turns out to be a ghost who wants to teach him... in the grave.

* AffablyEvil: While she does want to pull Zack into her grave, she is generally nice to her students and is well liked by them for being good at teaching.
* CoolTeacher: While she is more old fashioned than most examples, she is still well liked by the class for coming up with fun ways to teach the class and being generally pleasant. [[spoiler: Zack even admits she was a really good teacher despite trying to kill him, when he uses the book of spells she gave him to get revenge on one of his asshole friends.]]
* DramaticIrony: She's a good teacher, but she also wants to drag kids into her grave so she can teach them for all eternity. A truly ''good'' teacher wouldn't be teaching someone for that long because they wouldn't need to.
* EtherealWhiteDress: She dresses completely in white and wears a heavy veil to hide her [[spoiler: rotting face.]]
* EvilOldFolks: Her white hair and pale skin aren't just because she's a ghost, as she seems to have died when she was an old woman.
* EvilTeacher: An interesting example where she's a good teacher, who just so happens to want to pull students into the grave to teach them forever, which is where the evil part comes in. There's also the matter of [[spoiler: making their usual teacher sick so she can take over the class.]]
* MeaningfulName: Gaunt is a word meaning haggard (usually due to age) or grim, both of which describe her appearence pretty well.
* SoftSpokenSadist: Even as she's trying to pull Zack into her grave, she still talks in a calm voice and is well spoken.
* SternTeacher: She can be hard on the students when they act up, such as when Zack attempts to play a prank on her.
