!!The Murphy Family

!!!'''Immediate Family and Household'''

[[folder:Francis "Frank" X. Murphy]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_03_25_at_125825_am.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:"Oh don't start with me you fuckin' disappointment."]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/BillBurr (English), Noé Velázquez (Latin American Spanish)

Frank is the patriarch of the Murphy family. He's a working-class Irish-American man with an explosive temper.
----
* AbusiveDad: He verbally abuses his kids on a regular basis, hurling any obscenity at them he can think of. Although rarely, he does occasionally hit Kevin or Bill when they're especially annoying him.
* TheAlcoholic: He drives drunk and can't reliably complete simple tasks without getting sidetracked by booze and cigarettes.
* CatchPhrase:
** "I will put you through that fuckin' wall!"
** "Those fucking animals."
** "Does it ever fail?"
* DadTheVeteran: After graduating high school, Frank was {{conscript|ion}}ed into the US Army (14th Infantry Regiment) and fought in UsefulNotes/TheKoreanWar. After the war, he served in the US Air National Guard until he was discharged from the military.
* ElitesAreMoreGlamorous: [[JadedWashout Despite his appearance and overall attitude]], Frank was originally apart of the 14th Infantry Regiment in Korea, which was revered for its strenuous training in mountain warfare.
* EntitledBastard: Most of his angry rants involve how he feels he deserves something from other people, whether it's actually warranted or not.
* FanDisservice: The shot of his balls Bill and the audience are subjected to.
* FamilyMan: A very grudging but still mostly loving example.
* FatalFlaw: Frank's [[HairTriggerTemper wrath]] is the biggest source of conflict between him and his family, friends, and co-workers.
* FreudianExcuse: At least some of Frank's anger issues and personal insecurities can be traced back to his childhood, living with his AbusiveDad who mocked and taunted Frank for his perceived lack of masculinity.
* HairTriggerTemper: You'd better believe it. His short temper is one of his major traits, and definitely his biggest personality flaw.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Towards his new friend [[spoiler:Chet Stevenson in Season 3]]. Sue accuses Frank of being overly defensive of him, despite increasingly obvious hints that he's not such a great guy. Though granted, [[spoiler:Chet Stevenson]] was ''very'' [[FauxAffablyEvil charming and charismatic on the surface]]. Though Frank does eventually come into full agreement with his wife's suspicions ([[ProperlyParanoid which are proven to be correct]]).
* IWasQuiteALooker: As demonstrated in the intro sequence, he was quite a bit more handsome as a youth. But now he's grown a beer belly, and is starting to go bald.
* JadedWashout: Frank had dreams once. But after military service and 3 kids, they're dead and he's a bitter wage slave just living day to day.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: For all his faults, he really is trying to be a good dad. He really does love and care about his family.
** Despite his overall attitude, he does care about his job and the people there, and tries his best to be a middleman to everyone when the strike approaches, even though he notes himself that you can't choose both your job and your friends.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Is very similar to his son, Kevin, which is a big reason they don't always get along.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: With the union guys after they no longer trust him.
* LoserProtagonist: He's a wage slave who had to give up his dream of being a pilot, and was even [[spoiler:fired on Christmas Eve]].
* MenCantKeepHouse: As seen in episode 4. It's the whole reason why he doesn't want his wife to have a part time job.
* PapaWolf: Demonstrated with his brawl against the Fitzsimmons' on Christmas eve.
* ParentalFavoritism: Sure, Frank loves all his kids, but he's much more affectionate with Maureen than with his sons. He also favors Bill for having a paper route, while looking down on Kevin for his musical endeavors.
* ParentalNeglect:
** Is all but completely oblivious to his son Bill's descent into delinquency all throughout Season 2. Frank is clearly affectionate to Maureen and at least Kevin provokes a reaction out of him. He does help Bill retrieve money from some dickish customers on his (Bill's) paper route so at least he's not completely absent.
** In Season 3, this is one of the main conflicts, as his kids are all doing something and fail to communicate with him since he is worried about the new baby and obsessed with Chet.
* PoliticallyIncorrectHero: Thanks to the DeliberateValuesDissonance on display.
** He expresses quite [[StayInTheKitchen sexist beliefs]] to both his wife Sue and their daughter Maureen, not wanting the former to get a job out of his own insecurity, nor wanting the latter to pursue any "masculine" dreams like becoming a scientist.
** He also displayed some fear of African Americans (minus Rosie) due to the possibility of being mugged by them, even from one who happened to politely ask him for gas [[spoiler:(who was actually a white investigative reporter on an [[BlackLikeMe undercover story about racism in America]].]]
* TheProtagonist: He's the main star of the show.
* PushoverParents: His attempts at disciplining his children for bad behavior are almost always ineffectual.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives one to Bob Pogo in the Season 1 finale.
* RunningAwayToCry: Does this in the first episode when Kevin tells him "I fucking hate you!"
* SeductionProofMarriage: For all his complaints about her, it's clear Sue is the only woman for Frank. [[spoiler:When Chet suggests getting Frank some extramarital company, he instantly shuts him down.]]
* ShellShockedVeteran: Though not crippling, he exhibits some clear PTSD from his stint in Korea, casually mentioning all the bloodshed that he witnessed and experienced over there.
* ShotgunWedding: He got Sue pregnant with Kevin, which forced them to marry young.
* SirSwearsAlot: His dialogue is about [[ClusterFBomb 90% profanity]].

[[folder:Susan "Sue" Murphy]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_03_25_at_11616_am.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:"Outside of being a wife and a mother, Iíve got nothing! I sell plastic that I cry into!"]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/LauraDern (English), Kerygma Flores (Latin American Spanish)

Frank's wife and the mother of Kevin, Bill, and Maureen, who isn't content with her life.
----
%%* SeventiesHair
%%* AllergicToRoutine
* BatterUp: Her weapon of choice is a baseball bat. This is because she played softball in high school.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Sue is sick of her unfulfilling, soul-crushing life as an unappreciated homemaker, and yearns to have a career of her own. She then gets an unfulfilling, soul-crushing job, working for a bunch of jerks who don't appreciate her.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's the one who puts a stop to the fight with Jimmy and his scuzzy father, by giving the latter a good whack to the solar plexus with a baseball bat.
--> "Get the '''FUCK''' off my lawn!"
* CordonBleughChef: Seems she has to work with what she can, like the hotdogs wrapped in bacon from the first episode. Also, her TV dinners are still frozen in the middle.
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: Until mid-way through the series.
* FirstWorldProblems: While Sue is deeply upset about her life in Season 3, it's not until she talks with Nguyen-Nguyen, a survivor from the UsefulNotes/VietnamWar who describes in painful, excruciating detail what happened on the day that she lost her family and village, that Sue realizes she needs to be more thankful.
* FormerlyFit: Flashbacks revealed that she used to have a very small waistline. Now she sometimes gets comments about her weight.
* HartmanHips: A full figured woman with very wide hips and thighs.
* {{Housewife}}: Up until episode 4 when she's given an opportunity to take a part time job working with Plast-a-Ware.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: To Frank over his embarrassment in the electronics store.
* InSeriesNickname: Her full name is Susan.
* MamaBear
* NotSoAboveItAll: Gets noticeably upset in episode 5 when her new boss forces her to make another run out of town for a regular customer.
* ParentalFavoritism: According to WordOfGod, her favourite is Kevin.
* PushoverParents: With Kevin (at least according to Frank.) She see's herself as more of a ReasonableAuthorityFigure [[spoiler: considering Kevin's disability.]]
* ShotgunWedding: She married Frank only after she got pregnant with Kevin.
* UptownGirl: Sue comes from a rich family, with a very successful father, who also helps her family financially as revealed in Season 3.
* WhatTheHellHero: She gives Frank quite the silent one after discovering [[spoiler: he sabotaged her possible Job interview.]]
* YourMakeupIsRunning: When she cried over how dull and meaningless her life was.

[[folder:Kevin Murphy]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_03_25_at_12927_am.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:"I'm gonna go escape to a magical realm. Far from here."]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/JustinLong (English), Miguel Ángel Leal (Latin American Spanish)

Frank's and Sue's oldest son. He's a dimwitted slacker who often challenges his father's authority.
----
* BigBrotherBully: He has his moments of being this to Bill, such as beating him up and throwing his hockey stick into a tree when he made fun of him.
* BookDumb: "Did you know there were two world wars?"
* BreakTheCutie / TraumaCongaLine: Kevin suffers through continuous traumatic events during Season 2.
* CatchPhrase: "Dildo" is his go-to insult.
* ChildhoodBrainDamage: [[spoiler: According to an argument between Frank and Sue, his slowness was caused by him drowning at a bottom of a motel pool for two minutes as a child. This is further emphasized when he fell into a frozen pond during a ski trip and began to have traumatic memories of motel pool incident.]]
* CoolBigBro: Tries to be this to Bill. For example, when he signed his suspension form for him to give him a day off.
* DeadpanSnarker: Often makes sarcastic and indifferent remarks.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: In one Season 3 episode where Kevin gets arrested for [[spoiler:robbing a liquor store with his hoodlum friends]], he gets placed into a detention cell filled with women at the police station, because the cop who brought him in mistook him for a girl (due to Kevin's long hair, [[InelegantBlubbering unmanly crying]], and [[ItMakesSenseInContext wearing his mother's blouse]]). Soon afterwards when Frank comes over to bail out and scold Kevin, they pass by International Touch, who [[MistakenForProstitute mistakes Kevin for a female prostitute]], while also mistakenly assuming that his angry father was another pimp.
* TheDreaded: In the first episode Bill is being bullied by a group of three older kids until Kevin shows up and the leader of the group literally pisses himself in fear of Kevin.
* DreadfulMusician: Has the ambition, but none of the talent.
* DumbassTeenageSon: He's failing most of his classes, History in particular. [[spoiler:See ChildhoodBrainDamage for possibility on the cause of this trope.]]
* EmoTeen: He's constantly angsting about his daddy issues.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Laughing at a tape of someone's gruesome death is definitely not cool in Kevin's book.
* {{Fanboy}}: For "Shire of Frodo", a Tolkien inspired prog rock group.
* FlippingTheBird: Does it quite often.
* FreudianExcuse: Tries to invoke this by telling Frank the reason he's failing history is because his teacher is "a major perv".
* HeroesWantRedheads: He [[SubvertedTrope initially]] had Claire as a girlfriend but stops seeing her during Season 2.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Makes fun of Bill for being a "pussy", but is quite the crybaby himself.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: To Frank when he tries to show his appreciation for how difficult his job is.
* InsaneTrollLogic: Gets upset when Frank distracts him from his missing dog drawing, causing him to draw Major with two penises, because he believes now someone will "bring us a double dicked dog!"
* ItsAllMyFault: Kevin completely blames himself for [[spoiler: Vic's girlfriend taking his virginity. He see's it as a betrayal of Vic's trust on his part and becomes overwhelmingly guilty and self hating. At one point, Vic praises Kevin's character and integrity. He breaks down in tears when Vic leaves and concludes that suicide would be the only way to make things better.]]
* IAmNotMyFather: Wants to avoid being a JadedWashout like Frank.
* IJustWantToBeLoved: Is usually after approval and/or affection from his father.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: There are hints at this.
** He seems regretful over his choices, especially seeing his father's mistreatment by an elderly passenger and his marijuana-induced reflection of his memories that led him to finish his assignment.
** showed BigBrotherInstinct with him beating up the bullies when he heard of them beating Billy.
* JailBait: [[spoiler:Cutie Pie didn't realize Kevin was only 14 when she had sex with him.]]
* NostalgiaFilter: For his early childhood. Justified in that he was, well, a small child. He doesn't seem to remember a particular incident at a motel swimming pool, but Season 2 reveals that he suffers from PTSD as a result, and suffers a regressive panic attack when he falls into some water.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Blue boy to Claire's pink girl.
* ProgressiveRock: His favourite music genre.
* RapeAsDrama: [[spoiler:Kevin being statutorily raped, and the effects it has on him is a major plot point in Season 2.]]
* RomanticizedAbuse: [[spoiler:Averted. Not only is the sex between 14 year old Kevin, and Vic's adult girlfriend portrayed as extremely wrong, but we actually get to see the very realistic consequences play out, which directly stem from Kevin's young age, new-found sexual feelings, and inability to fully understand the consequences of what he was agreeing to in the moment. Vic later helps explain this to a very self loathing Kevin, putting it that at his age "once your dick gets hard, nothing makes sense."]]
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Manly man to Bill's sensitive guy. Downplayed considering Kevin is just as prone to crying as Bill.
* TheSlacker: He'd rather do anything else besides school or hard work.
* TheStoner: The boy likes himself some drugs, mostly weed.
* TeensAreShort
* WellDoneSonGuy: His motivation to actually start trying to pass his classes.
* YouNeedToGetLaid: Frank's theory as to why Kevin and Bill started being at each others throats all the time. Though Kevin did have some sexual frustration, his main issue with Bill was that he wanted privacy and for his possessions to be respected.
** This trope was pretty much averted as "getting laid" made things much worse for Kevin.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:William "Bill" Murphy]]
[[quoteright:346:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_03_25_at_13944_am.png]]
[[caption-width-right:346:"I am sick of everybody calling me a pussy!"]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Haley Reinhart (English), Héctor Cuevas Ireta (Latin American Spanish)

Frank's and Sue's second son. He's a very shy, timid, and unlucky young boy who's constantly burdened with anxiety.
----
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: He sometimes fights with Kevin.
* AuthorAvatar: Named after Creator/BillBurr himself, while possessing a similarly torrid relationship with his father.
* BreakTheCutie: He goes from one traumatic incident to the next. It's pretty sad considering how boys were still expected to hide their pain back then.
* ButtMonkey: While bad things keep happening to everyone in his family, Bill consistently gets the worst of it, like getting beaten up by bullies or suffering public humiliations.
* {{Fanboy}}: For ''Nickel and Pickle'', a Creator/HannaBarbera-esque cartoon.
* FieryRedhead: Owing to his Irish heritage and gradual hardening up. Red hair is a recessive gene, which would explain why neither Frank nor Sue have it.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: The responsible to Maureen's foolish. Though, in Season 2 this flips with Bill becoming more reckless and Maureen more level headed.
* GrewASpine: He tries to at multiple times and it is his primary arc.
* HeroesWantRedheads: He becomes attracted to redhead Bridget Fitzsimmons at the end of Season 2. Subverted after he sees her true colors.
* HeroicBSOD: When he was exposed to the disgusting stadium bathroom. Then again in Season 2 when he catches Kevin masturbating.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: [[LoveMakesYouDumb Bill's crush on Bridget Fitzsimmons]]. Simply due to [[BeautyEqualsGoodness thinking she's beautiful]], he deems her to be a "perfect" girl and ignores her glaringly obvious personality flaws (for example, he keeps a newspaper photograph featuring Bridget just to fawn over it, ignoring her [[LackOfEmpathy callous mockery of a seriously injured man]]). It's not until he starts hanging out with Bridget more often, does he begin to realize how cruel and dangerous she is.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Feminine boy to Maureen's masculine girl. He can also be this to Bridget's masculine girl at times as well.
* OrAreYouJustHappyToSeeMe: He gets an erection at the public swimming pool after seeing his crush Bridget toweling off. It leads to Bill trying desperately (and failing) to avoid public embarrassment.
* PottyFailure: Peed his pants after accidentally lighting Jimmy's entire fireworks stash.
* PyroManiac: Not really, but this is what Frank takes to calling him after the forest fire incident.
* ParentalSexualitySquick: Being stuck under the bed as his parents had sex was rather scarring for him.
* RedHeadInGreen: Always wears a green T-shirt and often a matching jacket.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Sensitive guy to Kevin's manly man.
* SirSwearsAlot: Just like his Father.
* ThousandYardStare: Has a pretty epic one whenever he gets an eyeful of something he knows [[BrainBleach he won't be able to unsee]].
* ThrowTheDogABone: Things seem to be looking up a little for him by the end of Season 2: [[spoiler:Jimmy declares that they're officially cool after Bill wheeled him to the emergency room to get help for his broken leg, and he discovers that Jimmy's little sister has a huge crush on him]].
* TookALevelInJerkAss: In Season 2, Bill becomes more aggressive and begins ditching school, shoplifting, skipping out on food bills and becoming a bully to his only friend Phillip. Though it doesn't excuse his behavior, [[ButtMonkey it's not hard]] [[TraumaCongaLine to see why]] [[BreakTheCutie this happened to him.]]
* TraumaCongaLine: Some real nasty stuff happens to him throughout Season 1.
* YankTheDogsChain: Anytime things start to look up for Bill, it's just so life can sucker-punch him again. Bridget Fitzsimmons becomes his girlfriend in Season 3, but he quickly learns she's a psychopath that makes her brother Jimmy look like a NiceGuy.
* YouthfulFreckles: The perfect complement to his red hair.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Maureen Murphy]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_03_25_at_15924_am.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:"Daddy says mommy's only work when the husband's in jail."]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DebiDerryberry (English), Angélica Villa (Latin American Spanish)

Frank's and Sue's only daughter and their third child. She has a devious streak like her brothers, but is also more intelligent.
----
* AffectionateNickname: Frank calls her "Princess".
* AlliterativeName: '''M'''aureen '''M'''urphy
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: She sometimes fights with Bill.
* BrattyHalfPint: A more realistic one, to be fair to her. It's heavily implied that Frank doesn't discipline her as strictly as her brothers (TruthInTelevision for a lot of dads in those days).
* BrainyBrunette: She's the most book-smart of her siblings, and performs very well in school.
* DaddysGirl: Frank clearly loves her. That's true for the others, but it's clearer with her in a couple scenes.
* EyeScream: She's accidentally kicked in the face by Bill, leaving a bloody, swollen gash near her eye and requiring her to wear an eyepatch while it heals (which she thinks is cool).
%%* GirlishPigtails
* HiddenDepths: Despite being a tomboy, Season 2 reveals she has an interest in working with computers, and turns out to be really, ''really'' good at math.
* LittleMissConArtist: Usually keeps her out of trouble with her parents.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Masculine girl to Bill's feminine boy.
* MistakenForGay: Frank seems to be very worried that she will turn out as a lesbian, due to her lack of interest in girly things.
* OneOfTheBoys: Maureen's friends are all male.
* TheSmartGirl: Apparently the brightest kid in her class. Her mom even jokes that she should teach [[BookDumb Kevin]] how to read.
* {{Tomboy}}: Was dead set on being a male character for Halloween, all her friends are boys, and isn't afraid to play rough.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fourth Murphy Child]]
->'''Voiced by:''' TBA

The fourth and youngest child of Frank and Sue Murphy. (S)he was conceived during the Season 2 finale. This causes Sue to become pregnant throughout Season 3. She will presumably give birth to this baby in Season 4.
----
* TheGhost: Because we haven't even seen them born yet.
* SurprisePregnancy: Much like his/her older siblings, this kid's conception was not intentional. This was all the result of Frank using a punctured condom while having sex with Sue, [[ItMakesSenseInContext due to Smokey Greenwood poking holes in random condoms]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Major]]

The Murphys' pet dog.
----
* BigFriendlyDog: A little too friendly at times, he's often seen trying to hump someone's leg.
* DemotedToExtra: He had a more significant role in the first season, with a small subplot near the end where he runs away and the family looks for him. He's seen much less in the second season save for a few cameos.
* DogsAreDumb: Often seen with a clueless look on his face.
* MeaningfulName: His name might have something to do with Frank's time in the Army.
* OldDog: He's at least over ten, as he was a puppy when Kevin was a toddler.
[[/folder]]

!!!'''Extended Family and Relatives'''

[[folder:Frank's Parents]]
->'''Father voiced by:''' TBA
->'''Mother voiced by:''' TBA

Frank's (so far unseen) father and mother, Sue's parents-in-law, and the paternal grandparents of Kevin, Bill, and Maureen.
----
* AbusiveDad: According to Frank, his father was just an utter asshole to his son. He once went to Frank's fifth-grade school play for the sole purpose of humiliating him in public, mockingly laughing at his performance. He then forced Frank to walk home because "there's no room for queers in a De Soto", and made him walk in front of the car while he yelled "Who wants a daughter?" to the neighbors. He kept calling him "Francine" for the rest of the year. Really, it's a miracle Frank isn't in prison.
* TheGhost: Frank hates his dad so much that he never even introduced his kids to their grandfather, lying to a 4-year-old Kevin that he "lives on a comet". [[spoiler:Unfortunately, Frank receives a letter from his father during the Season 3 finale, [[SequelHook announcing an unexpected surprise visit/stay at their house]].]]
* MissingMom: [[spoiler:As only Frank's father will come over to visit in Season 4, it can be presumed that his mother is deceased or at least divorced.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sue's Parents]]
->'''Father voiced by:''' Creator/KurtwoodSmith
->'''Mother voiced by:''' Carol Kane

Sue's father and mother, Frank's parents-in-law, and the maternal grandparents of Kevin, Bill, and Maureen.
----
* BourgeoisBohemian: ZigzaggedTrope, Sue's parents are wealthy and implied to be Democrat supporters based on their argument with Frank over his support for Nixon. However, the "Bohemian" aspect became less since [[spoiler: they disowned their [[ForcedOutOfTheCloset "confirmed bachelor"]] son]].
* {{Fanboy}}: Sue's dad is one for General Motors, based on how highly he speaks of his Cadillac car, while mocking the Murphys' Ford station wagon. He also tells the famous "Fix Or Repair Daily" joke.
* ObnoxiousInLaws: They hate Frank for ruining their daughter's life with a ShotgunWedding, and they even wonder about ways to get rid of him, telling Sue that they know the bishop and can make their marriage disappear. Frank shares mutual enmity for them.
* ParentalNeglect: Frank reminds them about their other child, Louis, whom they have disowned after he was outed as being gay.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Louis]]
->'''Voiced by:''' TBA

Sue's gay brother currently living in Florida.
----
* TheGhost: Is only mentioned and has yet to be seen.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted with Louis Gagliardi.
* TheUnfavorite: Is this to his parents due to him being [[ForcedOutOfTheCloset a "confirmed bachelor"]].
[[/folder]]

!!Around the Neighborhood

[[folder:Victor "Vic" Reynolds]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_04_19_at_125825_am.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SamRockwell (English), Gerardo García (Latin American Spanish)

Frank's next-door neighbor. He's a sexually promiscuous drug addict, who works as a marketing manager for a local radio station.
----
* AdvertisedExtra: Sort of. His voice actor is credited as part of the main cast, where as Haley Reinhart is not (Even the writers have stated they don't know why this is). For this reason Wiki/TheOtherWiki and some other sources list Vic as a main character and Bill as a supporting character. This was corrected in Season 2, though.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Vic's easily one of the nicest guys in the series, but when he found out that [[spoiler: Cutie Pie cheated on him with Kevin]], he ''lost it''. He came to his senses soon after, though.
* BiggerIsBetterInBed: He has a noticeable bulge.
* BookDumb: He's not the brightest guy around. This may have something to do with the fact that he's constantly doing drugs.
* ChickMagnet: Rarely seen without at least one woman accompanying him.
* DumbBlonde: A male variant. He's a handsome blond man who's very oblivious due to being high on drugs most of the time.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: As far as Babe is concerned.
* {{Expy}}: He was designed after David Wooderson from ''Film/DazedAndConfused''. Sam Rockwell even voices him with his best Creator/MatthewMcConaughey impression.
* FunctionalAddict: He acts just fine even being explicitly shown that he does large amounts of marijuana and cocaine. [[spoiler:This is later subverted in Season 2, when it's revealed that he was fired from his job a long time ago, but he keeps going to work because the use of drugs cause him to forget everything.]]
* TheHedonist: Vic seems to partake in every crazy vice known to man.
* HiddenDepths: Despite his carefree lifestyle, he secretly envies Frank's family life. Vic is also aware that his Christmases are lonely affairs because everyone else is with their families. He is sincerely appreciative of Frank's invitation to join them for Christmas dinner.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: While he tries to be nice to Frank, he seems oblivious to his struggles and assumes everything he's doing is an adventure or party. He also makes an off-the-cuff remark on how he should go to Hawaii despite that any other sane person would realize Frank is far from being able to afford that. CrossesTheLineTwice in a later episode when he assumes Mr. Holtenwasser's subtle tellings of his experiences hiding from the Nazis during the Holocaust was just one big party/orgy.
%%* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Kevin.
* JiveTurkey: His constant use of slang is just one more barrier between Frank and himself; when Vic says, "Know what I mean?" Frank's answer is, "I never know what you mean, Vic."
* KarmaHoudini: He never faces any legal consequences for shooting up his house.
* NiceGuy: He's genuinely really nice and goes out of his way to help Frank.
* PornStache: As was the look for swinging bachelors back then.
* PrettyBoy: He is handsome and good looking, much to the dismay of Frank.
* ReallyGetsAround: He has new women through his door constantly.
* SexDrugsAndRockAndRoll: Vic's lifestyle revolves around women, cocaine, and music.
* SitcomArchNemesis: Although it's very much one-sided because Vic doesn't know he's the nemesis.
* TheStoner: He smokes marijuana and stashes baggies of cocaine in his cash box. [[spoiler:This ends up costing him his job at the end of Season 2]].
* TeacherStudentRomance: With Vivian Sanders when he was in high school.
* TotallyRadical: All of his dialogue.
* UnknownRival: Seems to have no idea that Frank hates him.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Cutie Pie]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_06_28_at_20859_am.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Mo Collins (English), Gabriela Guzmán (Latin American Spanish)

Vic's girlfriend during Season 2.
----
* SeventiesHair: Her hairstyle is modeled after Farrah Fawcett.
* AnythingThatMoves: Cutie Pie [[spoiler:was cheating on Vic with men, [[BiTheWay women]], midgets, a 14-year-old boy...]]
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Seems nice at first, but not only does she wind up [[spoiler:statutorily raping Kevin, she's pretty nasty to him about it too, blaming him for the incident.]]
* DumbBlonde: Not really dumb, but shallow and self-absorbed.
* GoldDigger: Possibly why she stayed with Vic after she began feeling neglected and [[spoiler:started cheating]].
* ItsAllAboutMe: Has no concern for how her actions affect Vic, Kevin or anybody else around her.
* AManIsAlwaysEager: Pretty much uses the fact that [[spoiler:Kevin]] had an erection after seeing her breasts as an open invitation, even though he was actually quite distressed by this fact at the time as it had previously caused him embarrassment. Later, when she's yelling at him he points out that she was the one who came on to him, to which she blames on the fact that he had a hard-on.
* ManipulativeBitch: [[spoiler:Blames Kevin for her own mistake and tells him that Vic will be mad at both of them if he finds out, in order to keep Kevin from revealing what she did.]]
* MrsRobinson : She had sex with [[spoiler:14-year-old Kevin]].
* MsFanservice: Is shown naked a lot.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:Regrets cheating on Vic with 14-year-old Kevin. She even looks legitimately horrified that she had sex with a 14-year-old boy, thinking he was just short rather than underage.]]
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: We never do find out her real name. Even her birthday banner simply reads "Cutie Pie". It's implied Vic doesn't even know her real name.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: She high-tails it with the rest of the party guests once Vic starts shooting up his house and wisely does not go back.
* YourCheatingHeart: Vic is dismayed after finding out that she slept with [[ReallyGetsAround dozens of other people]].

[[folder:Otto Holtenwasser]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TrevorDevall (English), Pablo Sosa (Latin American Spanish)

A kindly old German-Jewish man who lives in the neighborhood. Despite his cheerfully pleasant personality, he has a very sadly traumatic past.
----
* AllGermansAreNazis: Subverted for laughs. The neighborhood kids are initially terrified of him, because they think he's a Nazi war criminal. In reality, he's actually a Jewish Holocaust survivor, as evidenced by the number tattooed on his arm and a Star of David necklace. However the kids believe the tattoo is actually the number of people he's killed, and they confuse the Star of David for a pentagram and start believing he's a [[HollywoodSatanism Satanist]].
* BlackComedyRape: Ginny takes advantage of him when he's drunk.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: He's a UsefulNotes/WorldWarII refugee whose whole family was murdered during UsefulNotes/TheHolocaust. Despite this, he's an awfully cheerful and optimistic person in the present day.
* TheEeyore: A small subplot in Season 3 is him realizing just how depressing he can be to hang around, and trying to ease up on discussing his past traumas.
* FriendToAllChildren: Even if the kids don't seem to return the sentiment. Though, luckily, he doesn't seem to notice their fear of him. But he does seem to [[BewareTheNiceOnes hate Jimmy]] though for being a neighborhood menace and vandalizing his house. When Jimmy hurts himself trying to explode his mailbox with a firecracker, he yells to him: "Serves you right you little [[ForeignCussWord scheiße]]!"
* GratuitousGerman: He sometimes drops a few German words in his speech, if you couldn't already tell his nationality by his strong accent.
* ImmigrantPatriotism: He proudly cheers for America while waiving a flag during the July 4th block party.
* TheLostLenore: After the war, he got married to an American nurse named Mary. It's implied that she's dead.
* NiceGuy: A very kind neighbor indeed.
* ThePollyanna: He's rather oddly optimistic for someone who survived war and genocide.
* SilverFox: Is called this by Ginny Throater when she becomes sexually attracted to him.
* StepfordSmiler: Another interpretation of his personality is that he's just trying really hard to cover up his wartime traumas. Season 3 implies this a bit more strongly.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ginny and Greg Throater]]
->'''Ginny voiced by:''' Mo Collins (English), Claudia Contreras (Latin American Spanish)
->'''Greg voiced by:''' Creator/TrevorDevall (English), Raúl Anaya (Latin American Spanish)

A married couple acquainted with Sue and Frank. Ginny constantly talks about her dysfunctional marriage, and is oblivious to the reason why: her husband Greg is secretly gay.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: In Season 3, Ginny winds up having a sexual relationship with [[spoiler:Otto Holtenwasser]] of all men. He only indulges her (very) reluctantly.
* AllGaysArePromiscuous: Greg seems to have had numerous partners.
* ArmoredClosetGay: Greg sneaks out to have sex with men, and he hides the truth until eventually coming out during a marital therapy session.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Neither of the Murphys seem to actually like Ginny.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Ginny calls Sue selfish when Sue finally blows up at her, despite the fact she spent hours talking about herself. She also immediately shuts it down when Sue tries to talk about her own problems, which Sue was too polite to do to her.
* IJustWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: In "Pray Away", Greg decides to come out to Ginny (and everyone else in the room) after he realized how unfair to Ginny and his two sons it is to be leading a double life, saying that Ginny deserved better.
* IncompatibleOrientation: It's strongly implied that Ginny and her husband are having sexual difficulties because he's secretly gay. Confirmed in Season 2 to be true.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Ginny spends her debut episode talking about her troubled marriage. When her husband begs for a divorce due to their IncompatibleOrientation, she refuses to listen.
* MakingLoveInAllTheWrongPlaces: Greg was so desperate that he had sex with a man in a department store changing room!
* PhraseCatcher: Almost every time Ginny shows up, one of the Murphys (and sometimes other characters) give an exasperated "Oh, fuck me". Ironically, Ginny herself also says these words after talking to Sue once during Season 3.
* StepfordSmiler: It's eventually revealed that Ginny wasn't just cheerfully oblivious to Greg being gay, but instead ''very'' deep in denial about it, even telling him "No, you're not!" to his face when he tries comes out to her and beg for a divorce.
* YourCheatingHeart: Greg would frequently sneak out to have sex with men. This was a constant source of anxiety and remorse for him, as he did like and care about Ginny despite lacking any sexual attraction to her.

[[folder:Goomer and Evelyn]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_06_28_at_20132_am.png]]
->'''Goomer voiced by:''' Creator/TrevorDevall (English), David Camarillo (Spanish, Season 1) and Erick Selim (Spanish, Season 2)
->'''Evelyn voiced by:''' Eileen Fogarty

Goomer is one of Frank's friends who lives on the same street, and is a weirdo who spies on all of his neighbors. He lives with his wife Evelyn.
----
* BlatantLies: Goomer lies to Evelyn when she catches him wearing Frank's clothes, claiming that they originally belonged to ''him'', and that ''Frank'' was the one who stole them (keep in mind they barely fit Goomer). Though Evelyn is gullible enough to fall for it.
* CaptainObvious: Goomer likes to show up to state what one of the Murphys is feeling at the moment.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Aside from being a PeepingTom, [[ItMakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext Goomer likes to]] [[invoked]][[{{Squick}} smell the scent of his dog's feces]]. Also once when he broke into Frank's house, he stole Frank's clothes ''and pretended to be him''.
* {{Expy}}: Goomer is basically a less pathetic, but creepier [[WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill Bill Dauterive]]. His voice also sounds rather similar to [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy Peter Griffin's]].
* FatAndSkinny: Goomer is rather obese, while Evelyn is rail-thin (if not underweight).
* FlatCharacter: There doesn't seem to be much more to Goomer other than him being Frank's neighbor and a creep.
* KarmaHoudini: Goomer lies to Evelyn about his actions while looking after the Murphy family's house and gets away scot-free.
* PeepingTom: Goomer has a creepy habit of spying on other people, allowing him to learn too much info on them. If you look closely at Frank's hidden stash behind the refrigerator, you can also see an IOU note from Goomer, indicating that he's broken into the Murphy house before. There's even a newspaper article about his spying habits.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: Goomer peeps on all of his neighbors but he seems mostly interested in Frank. Not because he's attracted to Frank, but because he wants to ''be'' Frank.
* TragicStillbirth: Goomer and Evelyn are childless, because during the only time he got her pregnant, it ended in a miscarriage. Goomer still lies to other people that his wife just had food poisoning to spare her feelings.
* UglyGuyHotWife: Downplayed. Goomer is a partially bald and obese man; and although Evelyn is a rather plain-looking and stick-thin woman, she doesn't look quite as ugly or unkempt as her husband.

[[folder:Ben and Kenny]]

->'''Ben voiced by:''' Mo Collins (English), José Antonio Toledano (Latin American Spanish)
->'''Kenny voiced by:''' Creator/DebiDerryberry (English), Xóchitl Ugarte (Latin American Spanish)

A couple of redneck brothers who are friends of Bill and Maureen. They live in extreme poverty.
----
* BlindingBangs: Ben.
* DeepSouth: Both of them have this accent.
* ChekhovsGun: The guitar Ben steals from the music store Phineas crashed into really comes in handy to him later in the season.
* CheerfulChild: They're perpetually happy, despite apparently being homeless.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Both of them are pretty weird and absent-minded kids, but especially Kenny.
* DemotedToExtra: Ben has a somewhat important role in Season 3, but they both have a lot less screentime in Seasons 2 and 3 than they did in Season 1. Kenny seems to get this the most, having his role reduced even further [[PutOnABus half-way throughout the season]] [[spoiler:after getting his hand blown up at the fourth of July party]]. From there, he has even less to do, just briefly showing up in some crowd shots.
* TheDitz: Both of them are dumber than rocks, and encourage Bill and Maureen to [[TooDumbToLive play stupid, dangerous games with them]].
* DumbBlonde: Both of them are male examples of this.
* HiddenDepths: As revealed in Season 3, Ben can absolutely ''shred'' on the guitar.
* InnocentInaccurate: They frequently allude to an absolutely horrifying domestic life, without really understanding what they're describing. They heavily imply that their parents are lousy people; their mom is a heroin addict, while their dad is a UsefulNotes/KuKluxKlan member who once [[DirtyCoward fled to Mexico to evade arrest for a hit-and-run killing]].
* LowerClassLout: They're stereotypical members of a white trailer trash family.
* NiceHat: Ben usually wears a green beanie, while Kenny always wears a green cap.
* OutOfFocus: They go from being regular characters in Season 1 to characters who only make cameos 1-2 times per episode in Seasons 2 and 3.
* ParentalNeglect: They frequently mention their parents, but they're implied to be deadbeats who don't really seem to care much about [[FreeRangeChildren what their sons are up to]].
* TooDumbToLive: They frequently do risky activities without any concern for their own safety.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: They aren't actively malicious, but they still encourage Bill and Maureen to do some pretty dumb things.

->'''Lex voiced by:''' Mo Collins (English), Miguel Ángel Ruiz (Latin American Spanish)
->'''Bolo voiced by:''' Creator/TrevorDevall (English), Alan Prieto (Latin American Spanish)

Kevin's fellow stoner friends, with whom he forms an amateur rock band.
----
* AllMenArePerverts: They're a couple of {{Hormone Addled Teenager}}s who are convinced that playing in a rock band will get them laid by girls. They even admit to just wanting to sing about dicks and sex.
* AmbiguouslyBi: Bolo is as interested in dicks as he is with girls. Lex and Kevin call him out on this occasionally. Possibly confirmed in Season 3 where he frustratingly tells Lex "I just like dicks, alright?"
-->'''Kevin:''' I'm the soul of this band!\\
'''Bolo:''' Well we're the dick and balls!\\
'''Kevin:''' Stop talking about dicks!\\
'''Bolo:''' I ''can't!''
* AlcoholicParent: When the boys are in Bolo's basement, you can see a box on the shelf labeled "Mom's Stuff", filled with nothing but liquor bottles.
* CelebCrush: Bolo has one for the former First Lady [[UsefulNotes/JohnFKennedy Jackie Kennedy]].
* CasanovaWannabe: They both see themselves as absolute lady killers for some reason, despite the fact that no girl has ever been interested in either of them.
-->'''Lex:''' "I think I hear the sound of a thousand panties dropping."
* CoolCar: Bolo's moms car he uses to drive his friends around.
* {{Delinquent}}: Bolo's name is graffiti'd on the bowling ally bathroom.
* DitzyGenius: Bolo gives Kevin the final answer on his history homework because he likes to read the presidential trivia off the "Whitehouse Beer" labels.
* DumbAndDrummer: Bolo is a drummer and a total ditz.
* FatAndSkinny: Bolo is a bit chubby, while Lex looks like he's of normal weight.
* FreudianSlip: Bolo has these sometimes. Usually in reference to dicks.
* ParentalNeglect: Bolo's mother doesn't pay much attention to him, and doesn't even know how old he is.
* GirlfriendInCanada: Bolo claims to have had a summer relationship with a girl at the lake, who happened to have died of Polio. (Which is a gateway disease to Lukemia.)
* InSeriesNickname: Their real names are Craig and Lawrence. They also tend to call Kevin "Murph".
* JewishAndNerdy: Lex.
* NerdsAreVirgins: Though, Bolo would have his friends believe otherwise (not that they buy it).
* StonersAreFunny: They often smoke weed with Kevin and Claire.
* SmallNameBigEgo: They consider themselves to be musical geniuses.
* ThoseTwoGuys: They're rarely (if ever) seen apart.
* TotallyRadical: Lex. "It's like so rad to the max!"
* WithFriendsLikeThese: They had no problem abandoning Kevin to the mercy of the cops. They also make fun of Kevin when he has a regressive panic attack.
[[/folder]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Mo Collins (English), Dafne Gallardo (Latin American Spanish)

Another friend of Kevin, and his (brief) girlfriend.
----
* GirlNextDoor
* {{Ladette}}
* NoSympathy: Like Lex and Bolo, she teases Kevin for having a panic attack, and not in a friendly way, either.
* OneOfTheBoys
* OutOfFocus: Her role greatly diminishes after the second season.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Pink girl to Kevin's blue boy.
* ReallyGetsAround: Frank thinks she's "loose" and warns Kevin not to get her pregnant, though, in reality, she's quite reluctant to do anything beyond kissing.
* RedheadInGreen: She's a redhead who wears a green army jacket.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple
* SouthernBelle: Like some of the other Murphy's neighbors, she has a Southern accent.
* TheStoner
* SixthRanger: For Kevin's friend group.
* {{Tomboy}}

!!!'''The Bonfiglio Family'''

[[folder:Babe and Marie Bonfiglio]]
->'''Babe voiced by:''' Kevin Farley (English), Ricardo Bautista (Latin American Spanish)
->'''Marie voiced by:''' Jamie Denbo

Philip's parents. Babe is his father and another friend of Frank's. Marie is his overprotective mother.
----
* AmbiguouslyBi: Even though he's married and has two sons, Babe talks highly of Vic and constantly makes remarks about how attractive he is.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Babe has dark black hair and very tanned skin, but is still considered white. His son Phillip, however, has lighter skin and brown hair. It's later confirmed that Babe is of Italian (specifically Sicilian) descent, while his wife isn't (Philip certainly got his fair skin from her).
* BrokenPedestal: Babe appears to be over Vic at the end of the third season after he almost died in a helicopter crash piloted by a coked-out Vic. He assures Marie that he will "stop thinking about Vic in the bedroom."
* FatAndSkinny: Babe is short and thin, while Marie is very obese.
* MotorMouth: Babe can talk a lot, but was surprisingly named as "[[IronicNickname Most Quiet]]" in high school.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Babe has the same face shape, skin tone, and buck teeth as his mother.
* VocalDissonance: Babe's voice is pretty high-pitched and squeaky for a man.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:"Nana" Rose Bonfiglio]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Mo Collins

Philip's grandmother who also lives at home with the family. She is of Italian (Sicilian) origin.
----
* ObnoxiousInLaws: She's very rude and verbally abusive to her daughter-in-law, Marie.
* PottyFailure: Wets herself when she gets too excited. According to Phillip, it often happens when she watches ''Dialing for Dollars''. Their living room furniture is wrapped in plastic for this reason.
* RacistGrandma: She's an Italian fascist who admires UsefulNotes/BenitoMussolini. She especially hates Jews, frequently complaining about the "Heebs" (Hebrews) in Hollywood. She also expresses her disgust towards the "Gypsies" ({{UsefulNotes/Romani}}) and the "Pollocks" (Polish).
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She has the same face shape, skin tone, and buck teeth as her son, Babe.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DebiDerryberry (English), Creator/MarianaOrtiz (Latin American Spanish)

Bill's best friend, who is also a very wimpy, pathetic geek.
----
* AmbiguousDisorder: If the throwaway line of "I don't remember doing any of this" when [[spoiler:Maureen finds his creepy shrine to Hobo Jojo]] is any indication, along with his NightmareFuelColoringBook and suppressed violent tendencies, it can indicate schizophrenia; as he may not really have a conscious clue of what he's doing.
* BestFriend: Of Bill.
* ButtMonkey: Much like his friend, he gets picked on by the local bully Jimmy.
* CreepyChild: He seems like a nice boy most of the time, but he keeps a journal filled with drawings of people who annoy him getting killed in brutal ways.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: He's been mistaken for a "fat little girl" at least twice.
* ExtremeDoormat: He's even ''[[UpToEleven more]]'' cowardly and spineless than Bill. It's implied that most of this is due to having an overprotective mother.
* HehHehYouSaidX: Giggles at the word "doobie", which he incorrectly thinks is a euphemism for sex. (It's slang for a marijuana joint.)
* LiteralMinded: His response to Jimmy making a crude joke about how he's gonna "fuck [Phillip's] mom" was; "My mom wouldn't do that..."
* NerdyInhaler
* NightmareFuelColoringBook: His "Kill Book".
* TranquilFury: When Bill starts spending more time with Bridget than with Phil, he gives a clenched smile and ''rips out an eyebrow''.

->'''Voiced by:''' Al Ducharme

Phillip's younger brother, who is not quite right in the head.
----

* AmbiguousDisorder: It's strongly implied that he has some sort of developmental disability, but what he has in particular is never elaborated on.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: His hyperactivity and weirdness is a partial contributor to Phillip's gradual SanitySlippage.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: When Bill goes missing, Anthony tells Frank he saw where he went. Anthony then proceeds to tell Frank the most pointless details he can, which predictably causes Frank to explode at the child.
* {{Catchphrase}}: "Y'KNOW WHAT? Y'KNOW WHAT?"
* ChildhoodBrainDamage: Implied to be the cause of his weird behavior, when Phillip angrily says he wishes he'd pressed ''harder'' on Anthony's fontanel when he was a baby.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: There's no telling what exactly goes on in his strange mind. He talks and rambles incoherently, eats random things he finds on the ground, and also starts humping a TV stand for no apparent reason.
* MotorMouth: He ''never'' shuts up.
* NerdGlasses: He wears a massive pair of these.

!!!'''The Fitzsimmons Family'''

[[folder:Mr. Fitzsimmons]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Joe Buck
Jimmy's and Bridget's single father. He works as a janitor at the elementary school.
----
* AbusiveDad: He frequently beats Jimmy to discipline him for his misbehavior, and doesn't seem to be much nicer to Bridget either.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite his rudeness and abuse, he will not tolerate Jimmy shoplifting or hitting girls. Though technically Jimmy was [[FrameUp framed by Bill for the shoplifting]], and the [[DudeLooksLikeALady "girl" in question was actually Phillip]], but Mr. Fitzsimmons [[LockedOutOfTheLoop didn't know about either of these facts]].
* FieryRedhead: Much like both his son and daughter, he has orange hair and is very short-tempered.
* {{Jerkass}}: Who do you think Jimmy learned to be an asshole from?
* KickTheDog:
** Sprays Phillip with a cleaning product when he cheers Bill on during his fight with his son.
** Gets the whole student body to call Bill a pussy and joins in with their jeering as he's taken away to the principal's office.
* LowerClassLout: He's a blue-collar menial laborer, and very unpleasant.
* NewJobAsThePlotDemands: He's first seen working as a janitor at the elementary school in Season 1, but is seen cleaning the public swimming pool in Season 3. Justified because it was summer and school was out.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: When he sees a black character on a TV show, he expresses a desire to have him sprayed with a fire hose, much like [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull_Connor Bull Connor]] would've done.
* WouldntHitAGirl: He never gives Bridget any beatings, and once scolded Jimmy for hitting Phillip ([[ItMakesSenseInContext whom Mr. Fitzsimmons]] [[DudeLooksLikeALady mistook for a girl]]).

->'''Voiced by:''' Mo Collins (English), Bruno Coronel (Latin American Spanish)

A local bully who harasses Bill and Phillip.
----
* BringMyBrownPants: He pees his pants out of fear upon seeing Kevin in the first episode.
* TheBully: The classic schoolyard bully, who likes beating the crap out of weaker kids.
* ButtMonkey: He has his moments. Just to name a few moments: he's beaten up by Kevin; gets his clubhouse blown up; framed for a crime he didn't do; sent to Catholic military school, where he's harshly disciplined; and he's run over by Randy.
* CatchPhrase: When he's frightened or beaten, he runs off muttering "Oh man! Oh man! Oh man! Oh man!" over and over.
* CoDragons: He has two, though they turn out to be pretty useless, as they run away leaving Jimmy to be beaten up by Kevin.
* DirtyCoward: Bullies the younger Bill regularly, but pisses his pants and runs away crying when faced with Kevin.
* TheDreaded: Until he met Kevin Murphy, who's presence caused him to piss himself.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: His father calls him "Jimmy James Fitzsimmons", implying his first name is Jimmy and his middle name is James....
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Even a delinquent like him knows that his psycho sister is a total basket case.
* EvilCripple: Jimmy reveals that he's half-blind (due to his sister poisoning his insulin pills, he lost sight in one of his eyes).
* FieryRedhead: He's certainly rather hotheaded and aggressive.
* FrameUp: In Season 2, Bill pins his own theft of a hockey stick on Jimmy Fitzsimmons, resulting in Jimmy's angry dad sending his son to a [[BoardingSchoolOfHorrors Catholic military school]]. This only [[FromBadToWorse worsens]] the preexisting conflict between Bill and Jimmy.
* GreaserDelinquents: Has the jacket and the pompadour, despite the Greaser trend being about 20 years out of date by the show's current time setting.
* HateSink: He pretty much exists just to make Bill's life miserable. This gradually wears off over Seasons 2 and 3, as Jimmy starts to develop a few sympathetic qualities.
* HiddenDepths: Despite being a typical jerkass bully, Jimmy does have a sensitive side evidenced by his room filled with stuffed animals. He's also really good at shop class and enjoys building birdhouses and marionettes.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Constantly calls Bill a pussy but is a cowardly wimp himself whenever someone bigger than him (like Kevin or Sue) takes him on.
* {{Jerkass}}: Needless to say.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Most of the time he's just an asshole, but he was legitimately worried for Bill's safety when his sister started dating him.
* MissingMom: His mother is revealed to be dead.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: Tries and keeps any boy from dating his sister. Though in a spin on the usual situation, he's protecting ''them'' from ''her''.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted. He shares the first name with the news anchor and Hobo Jojo actor James "Jim" Jeffords.
* PetTheDog: He tells Bill to stay away from his sister, but only because his sister is a massive {{Yandere}}. When Bill asks why he cares, Jimmy reveals that he now sees Bill as a friend. He also gets Bridget to reveal where Bill is when the Murphys confront them at their house as well.
* PottyFailure: Pissed himself in fear of Kevin's presence.
* RunningGag: Bill uses his name whenever he's caught with his hand in the cookie jar so that Jimmy will cop any punishment. It gets to the point where even [[spoiler: Chet]] uses his name when ratting out his neighbors.
* TheScapegoat: A RunningGag involves characters saying that they're Jimmy Fitzsimmons so that he'll be the one to take their fall for something they did.
* TroubledAbuser: Jimmy's dad beats him.
* VillainsOutShopping: In "Bill Murphy's Day Off" he's seen casually enjoying shop class without being a dick to anyone and is later shown making his own wooden puppet. This was also before he considered Bill a friend.
* VitriolicBestBuds: It's eventually revealed that he sees Bill as his best friend despite all the crap he puts him through.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bridget Fitzsimmons]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DebiDerryberry

The younger sister of Jimmy, whom Bill develops a romantic crush on. She turns out to be just as foulmouthed as her brother, and possibly even crazier.
----
* AxCrazy: She has quite an explosive temper, and holds a well-deserved reputation as a "psycho".
* BigBadEnsemble: With Chet Stevenson for Season 3.
* CreepyChild / EnfanteTerrible: Enough so, that her own big brother is ''afraid of her''. For context; Jimmy is fucked up because his father beats him. Bridget is evil straight out the gate.
-->'''Jimmy''': She scares me, Dad. She scares me right proper.
* DirtyCoward: When the train for Pittsburgh is about to leave the station, she chickens out at the last second and leaves Bill to fend for himself, all while stealing his bike.
* DisproportionateRetribution: She once put nail polish in Jimmy's insulin, permanently blinding him in one eye. Whatever Jimmy did, even with his current track record, it couldn't possibly have warranted that.
* TheDreaded: Both Jimmy and their dad are terrified of her.
* EvilerThanThou: Proves to be far more vicious and horrible than Jimmy could ever be.
* EvilRedhead: Has red-hair and is a [[TheSociopath sociopathic]] EnfanteTerrible.
* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon: She looks like an adorable little girl, but is really a sewer-mouthed, borderline-psychopathic nutjob.
* FieryRedhead: She's red-haired and quick-tempered, but legitimately dangerous.
* HateSink: Enough to make ''Jimmy'' of all people look like a sympathetic Woobie by comparison!
* {{Jerkass}}: [[UpToEleven Even more so than her brother]].
* KarmaHoudini: So far, she hasn't received any punishment for her actions.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: Insulted and scared off Jeffrey when the latter called Bill a fairy.
* LackOfEmpathy: A photo from a newspaper article of a serious car crash (involving an ice cream truck that flipped over), shows Bridget pointing at and ''laughing'' at the bloody, wounded driver lying down in pain, while the other nearby kids looked horrified.
* MissingMom: She mentions that her mother is deceased.
* {{Sadist}}: She seems to derive great pleasure at other people's suffering wether it would be abusing Bill or laughing at an ice cream truck diver suffering a car crash.
* SirSwearsALot: She puts Frank to shame with how much profanity comes out of her mouth.
* TheSociopath: Bridget displays multiple signs of being one. She's extremely [[HairTriggerTemper irritable]], [[AxCrazy violent]], [[LackOfEmpathy unsympathetic to the feelings of other people]], and impulsive to the point of doing stupid things just for the thrill of it. Even though she seems to like Bill at first, her "affection" for him is very shallow, and when he tries to leave her, she uses threats of violence and emotional manipulation to force him back in line. And at the very end, she herself leaves Bill without a hint of remorse.
* {{Yandere}}: She's utterly ''furious'' at Bill when he tries to dump her, and does whatever she can to coerce him to stay with her (mostly via threats and manipulation). Though this has less to do with craving Bill's company, and more to do with her feeling offended that he tried to defy her.

Chet is a US Air Force officer and returning UsefulNotes/VietnamWar veteran who moves into the neighborhood in Season 3. Frank quickly bonds with Chet, though there turns out to be a much darker side to his new friend.
----
* AcePilot: He's a highly decorated Air Force bomber pilot who saw plenty of action in Vietnam.
* AlasPoorVillain: [[spoiler:Despite his assholishness and downright malice, Chet's reward is to die alone, after being poisoned by the woman he tried to love. Even Frank, who is livid when he comes to visit him in the hospital, quiets down after seeing his ill state on his death bed.]]
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler:After the way he mistreats his wife, it's hard to feel sorry for him when she snaps and poisons him with drain cleaner.]]

* BigBadEnsemble: With Bridget Fitzsimmons for Season 3.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: He seems like the nicest, coolest guy when hanging out with Frank and the other neighbors, but is actually a passive-aggressive {{jerkass}} who quickly turns against his own family and friends when he thinks they're not respecting him well enough.
* DomesticAbuse: [[spoiler:He is extremely controlling and dominating towards his wife, and is implied to get violent when she doesn't obey or respect him.]]
* DyingAlone: [[spoiler:When Frank goes to visit him in the Hospital after being poisoned, Chet realizes he is fully alone and won't make it through the night. When Frank is leaving, Chet makes a joke at his expense, which seems to cement this on the stone.]]
* EvilCounterpart:
** Chet is essentially the anti-Frank. While Frank is an out-of-shape lout who communicates 99% of the time through screaming, he genuinely loves his family. Chet is a handsome, even-tempered guy, [[spoiler:who treats his wife like a slave and is implied to run around on her]].
** He also serves as one to Vic, as both are new to the neighborhood (Vic in Season 1 and Chet in Season 3), and both come off as friendly to Frank and the others around them. Vic is a genuinely good person, while Chet is most certainly not.
* {{Foil}}: Chet Stevenson serves as an adult, [[SpearCounterpart male]] equivalent to Bridget Fitzsimmons, which is fitting since they're the BigBadEnsemble of Season 3. Both characters bond and hang out with one of the Murphys; Chet forms a (very bromantic) friendship with Frank, while Bridget starts dating Bill as a couple of lovers. Both Frank and Bill respectively believe that Chet and Bridget are wonderful people at first, but it soon becomes apparent that their new friends are far more unpleasant than they think. Though Chet is more of a FauxAffablyEvil BitchInSheepsClothing who successfully pretends to be a NiceGuy until the facade slowly cracks, while Bridget is far more of an ObviouslyEvil {{Jerkass}} by comparison (due to her sharp tongue and rude demeanor, similar to both her brother and father). However, Frank and Bill are both [[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter deep in denial about what's wrong with their respective buddies]] until it's too late. The eventual termination of the relationships between Frank and Chet / Bill and Bridget are both very ugly and messy though.
* FreudianExcuse: During his last conversation with Frank [[spoiler:while hospitalized from the poison his wife fed him]], Chet claims he had a lousy childhood with an AbusiveDad who once cruelly [[spoiler:[[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals drowned a puppy]] that he had given to his son ''[[HarmfulToMinors as a 6th birthday present]]'']]. He eventually joined the Air Force to leave his crappy home life behind, [[WarIsHell but Vietnam certainly didn't]] [[ShellShockedVeteran improve his broken psyche]].
* HateSink: While he seems to be a likable guy at first, he becomes much more despicable once his true nature starts to surface, [[spoiler:as he plays cruel mind games on Nguyen-Nguyen, Sue, and Frank alike]].
* MeaningfulName: Chet mentions to Frank that Nguyen-Nguyen says his name in her sleep. [[BilingualBonus "Chết" is also "die" in Vietnamese]], and Chet has seen and caused a lot of death as a soldier.
* MightyWhiteyAndMellowYellow: Deconstructed. Chet, a white American serviceman, married a poor Vietnamese woman not long after being (partially) responsible for killing her family. Nguyen-Nguyen is indeed rather docile and submissive, to the point of being an ExtremeDoormat who reluctantly follows every arbitrary whim her husband forces upon her. [[spoiler:Though after putting up with Chet's DomesticAbuse for too long, Nguyen-Nguyen retaliates in a very passive-aggressive manner.]]
* PatrioticFervor: Much like Frank, he's a very proud American veteran, and looks down upon anti-war pacifists.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler:While talking to Frank one last time on his death bed, Chet tells him he truly does think he was a hero, that he has it all and not to mess it up like he did.]]
* ShellShockedVeteran: Although he tries hiding it under a very gung-ho and patriotic exterior, it's clear that his time during the Vietnam War messed him up quite a bit.
* YourCheatingHeart: He goes behind his wife's back to screw with other women in his jet's cockpit.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Nguyen-Nguyen Stevenson]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Eileen Fogarty

Chet Stevenson's Vietnamese wife.
----
* AsianSpeekeeEngrish: Justified due to being a recent immigrant, and she was a poor peasant in Vietnam. Though her English does gradually improve throughout Season 3. She speaks more [[YouNoTakeCandle broken English]] in the first episode, but is soon speaking close to complete sentences by the season finale.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: [[spoiler:She eventually [[TheDogBitesBack snaps from all the abuse]] her husband put her through, by poisoning his food with drain cleaner.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She lost family and friends during the UsefulNotes/VietnamWar, which she recalls while Sue is complaining about her own FirstWorldProblems, making Sue crash down realizing this.
* FunnyForeigner: Her English isn't very good, though she's learning from all the American TV shows that she watches enthusiastically.
* ImmigrantPatriotism: She loves living in the United States and immersing herself in American culture.
* IronicEcho: [[spoiler:She says she is changing Chet from the inside when Sue tells her that she needs to beware of Chet. She later repeats this to reveal the real meaning: she had been poisoning Chet by adding little by little drain bleach in his food.]]
* MeaningfulEcho: [[spoiler:She has described herself as "a survivor" a few times, especially when Sue tells her she is a victim of abuse. She however repeats to Sue "I'm a survivor" one last time, when they find out that she was poisoning her abusive husband.]]
* NiceGirl: She's pretty much the only woman in the neighborhood who's genuinely friendly with Sue. While the other housewives only hang out with her out of convenience and barely tolerate her hang-ups, Nguyen-Nguyen doesn't seem to find any fault in Sue.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: [[spoiler:When she's arrested by the police for poisoning Chet, she tells them she can't speak/read English well and therefore didn't know she was putting chemicals in his meals. However, her private exchange with Sue confirms she knew exactly what she was doing.]]
* StepfordSmiler: She's always acting very sweet and friendly, [[spoiler:which only makes it more sad to see how her husband abuses her both physically and emotionally]].
* WartimeWedding: She met Chet after a fierce battle that took place in her village, which was bombed by American forces to eliminate the local Viet Cong guerrillas.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2017_04_19_at_12056_am.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KevinMichaelRichardson (English), Eduardo Fonseca (Latin American Spanish)

A friend and coworker of Frank Murphy, and a member of the baggage handler union at the airport.
----
* BlackBestFriend: While Rosie isn't exactly Frank's closest friend, he is the fellow coworker from Mohican Airways whom he likes to hang out with the most.
* DeadpanSnarker: He's got a very quick sense of humor.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: He hates being called by his real name Chauncey.
* {{Expy}}: Rosie bears a striking similarity to the late Patrice O'Neal, a stand-up comic who was a good friend of Creator/BillBurr.
* FamilyRelationshipSwitcheroo: Rosie has an illegitimate son whom he conceived when he was 17. For years, he has been passing him off as his younger brother to his kids (and by extension, pretending he was the kids' uncle rather than their half-brother).
* GenderBlenderName: Averted; his real name is Chauncey, which he hates. His nickname comes from his last name, Roosevelt.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Rosie counts on Frank's support for the union's demands. After Frank inadvertently meets the owner of the Airlines at a ball game that was offered to him by Bob, tension build between him and Rosie as he starts to suspect that Frank will choose his own job over their need for better pay, prompting him to continue with his plans to strike.
* RepetitiveName: "Rosie" Roosevelt.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: When Pogo passes him up for a promotion (Giving ''both'' positions to Frank) he finally has all he can take and quits. Eventually throwing his hat into a race for the district Alderman.
* TokenMinority: One of the few black employees at the airport. In fact during a Memorial Day parade, Bob Pogo has Rosie placed on a Mohican Airways float, just so he can boast how their company makes their token black guy "so happy and well-fed". Rosie is not amused nor flattered.

Two slacker baggage handlers at the airport who participate in the strike, and briefly hung out with Kevin.
----
* AllMenArePerverts: Their favorite topic of discussion is their planned porno, "Fuck School".
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Red. Though, his nickname may suggest he is Native American.
* TheCorrupter: They encourage Kevin to quit school and do drugs.
* TheDitz: While they are both pretty dumb, Red actually thought a good plan to get rid of Scoop would be to create an exact replica of the airport with cardboard cutouts of all the employees to send him to work at instead of the real thing.
* HeterosexualLifePartners
* HarmfulToMinors
* LackOfEmpathy: Besides laughing at Ed's death tape, if you look closely you can actually see that Red laughs in the tape. As in, as Ed dies in front of him.
* ProfessionalSlacker: They spend more time talking about porn than actually working.
* ThoseTwoGuys: They're never seen without each other.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DavidKoechner (English), Dafnis Fernández (Latin American Spanish)

Frank's boss, the morbidly obese manager of the baggage department at the airport.
----
* BadBoss: He often mistreated his subordinates and ignored their demands. He eventually fires Frank on Roger's orders for petty reasons.
* BigEater: Even in union negotiations, he always talks about food, and is always eating copious amounts of fattening food. When he tries to eat better in Season 2, he switches to gorging on buckets of cottage cheese and handfuls of diet pills.
* TheDragon: For Roger Dunbarton before Scoop replaced Frank.
* EnemyMine: In Season 2, he teams up with Frank and his other coworkers to take down Scoop Dunbarton, even though they ''really'' didn't get along in the past.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He seems to be shocked by Scoop's erratic behavior and racism.
* FatBastard: He looks to be well over 300 pounds, and has a very unpleasant demeanor.
* FatSlob: His car and office are filled with lots of food lying around.
* FormerlyFit: A flashback to circa 1958 shows that he used to be ''much'' more slim. But his BigEater tendencies caught up to him with age. Also in Season 3, it's mentioned that he used to participate in dancing competitions.
* GoodSmokingEvilSmoking: Of the evil variety.
* HairTriggerTemper
* HeelFaceTurn: Towards the end of the second season when Scoop makes his life hell. Bob sincerely apologizes to Frank and tries to be a friend.
* JabbaTableManners: He was shown eating in a disgusting manner in his office, and his car is filled with fast food bags and cups.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's a racist MeanBoss who dismisses and mistreats his subordinates.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He does mellow out in Season 3 and becomes a little nicer towards Frank and Rosie. He even tries and fails to throw a lifesaver to Bill during the SeasonFinale climax.
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler:After saving his and everyone's job at the airline, Frank is fired by Bob and attempts to talk down on him as a failure for not standing his ground against the Union's Demands. Before he is able to drive away however, Frank Yanks the keys from the ignition gives Bob a much deserved chewing out and drops the keys between his legs leaving him stuck in the parking lot by himself.]]
* ManChild
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Bob's usual alibi after making an ass of himself is to blame a Puerto Rican. After an actual Puerto Rican gets arrested despite being innocent, Bob is visibly remorseful.
* NeverGetsFat: This ''used'' to apply for him, back during his younger days in the air force. A flashback showed him with Frank, who expressed amazement at how much Bob could eat without gaining weight, while he had to work like hell to keep his weight down. Bob claimed it was because of his high metabolism. In the series itself, which is set about 20 years later, it's clear that Bob never adjusted to his metabolism slowing down as he aged, as he's now a FatBastard MeanBoss who needs a scooter to get around. Part of his character development is him trying to eat healthier and slim back down again. Let's just say it's a work in progress.
* NeverMyFault: His go-to excuse is to [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain blame a non-existent Puerto Rican]] whenever he gets into a bind. We later find out that some random Puerto Rican guy actually ''was'' getting the blame for all this, and is understandably pissed off about it.
* PetTheDog:
** In "Landing the Plane", Bob pours his heart out to Frank, telling him that he wants to be his friend.
** In the Season 3 Finale, he attempts to save Bill from being carried away by the river he fell in by throwing a life ring at him, and only fails due to suffering a heart attack at the worst possible moment.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Rosie believes that Bob Pogo is biased against him for being black, and he may be right to an extent; when Bob argues with Rosie in a (mostly black) bar, he outright calls Rosie "uppity" before realizing where he is.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: He served with Frank in the military and worked with him during the airport's early days. They seemed to have gotten along much better back then.

----
* AssholeVictim: According to Frank, "he was kind of a [[{{Jerkass}} dick]]".
* DeathByIrony: Frank tells an anecdote involving Ed bragging about his new tie. His tie is what later caused his death.
* TheGhost: He was never physically seen alive in the series, only mentioned and on video.
* NeverSpeakIllOfTheDead: [[SpeakIllOfTheDead Averted]]. Frank was more happy about his promotion than upset about Ed's death. When Sue calls him out on this, he responds with "Yeah, but he was kind of a dick."
* OffWithHisHead: Had his necktie caught in a moving propeller, resulting in him getting decapitated. As a result, Mohican placed a rule that its workers can only wear clip-on ties.

* BackForTheDead: [[spoiler:His only significant scene in Season 2 happens moments before his death.]]
* BigBad: He's this for Seasons 1 and 2. As the owner of Mohican Airways airline all the problems that occurs at the Airport Franks works can be traced back to him.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: He's definitely a very ruthless and cold-hearted business tycoon.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: [[spoiler:He gets his throat cut open by Scoop's laminated newspaper, which was sent flying as shrapnel from an explosion.]]

* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler:He was a racist, abusive, and insane jerk who turned out to be major liability for the workers. Along with his uncle Roger from a flying framed newspaper to his neck, the explosion from the suitcase bomb showed relief for everyone.]]
* AxCrazy: The man's a complete maniac.
* BadBoss: Even ''Bob Pogo'' is afraid of him.
* BodyHorror: He's missing half of his brain after getting kicked in the head by a horse.
* CareerEndingInjury: A kick by a draft horse on his head didn't bode well for his baseball career, as well as his sanity.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He's very erratic and unpredictable because of his brain injury.
* CurbstompBattle: [[spoiler:He makes very short use of the BLABLA members.]]
* EvilCripple: He suffers from severe brain damage, but it makes him no less of a supreme {{Jerkass}}.
* EvilerThanThou: He's a worse boss and person than Bob Pogo could ever be.
* EvilVersusEvil: [[spoiler:He fights the BLABLA members once he wakes up.]]
* HateSink: Possibly the least likable character in the series, and has zero redeeming qualities. He's loud, egotistical, rude, racist, and is too stupid to even be working at an airport, let alone managing one. Probably the only good thing that can be said about him is that [[spoiler:he single-handedly thwarted the terrorist group's plans to hijack a plane... just moments before he accidentally killed himself and his uncle with their suitcase bomb.]]
* TheHeavy: Of season 2. He may be appointed as the boss by his uncle but its him that's causing all the problems in the airport, which causes all the employee to try getting rid of him.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's extremely bigoted, and a complete prick to all of his employees and customers.
* LargeHam: He's usually shouting all of his lines.
* LudicrousGibs: [[spoiler:He died from the explosion when he stepped on a bomb in his cheering run. In addition, his uncle Roger was killed from the framed newspaper flying to his neck.]]
* {{Nepotism}}: How he got his job despite his mental incapacity from the horse kick to his head, much to dismay of his coworkers.
* NoIndoorVoice: Not unusual for a character voiced by Creator/JohnDiMaggio.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: He's extremely racist; back when he was a baseball player, he wanted to re-segregate the sport. Now at Mohican Airways, he decides to sort passenger luggage ''by race''; and not by the passenger's race, bur rather by the ''luggage's'' "race", meaning he sorts the bags by if it's black or white, while yelling out "Go back to Africa!" at a black piece of luggage.
* SelfDisposingVillain: [[spoiler:He accidentally steps on the suitcase containing the bomb which not only blows him up, but also causes his laminated newspaper to impale his uncle's throat.]]
* TooDumbToLive: While he was [[AlcoholInducedStupidity drunk]], he tried to carve his initials onto a live horse; guess what that earned him. [[spoiler:And he later obliviously steps on a suitcase that was known to contain a bomb.]]

* MeanBoss

In fact, [[TookALevelInKindness she warms up quite a bit]] once Sue transfers to corporate, going from catty and vaguely contemptuous of Sue to the being the only boss at Plast-a-Ware who's actually in Sue's corner and affords her any real respect.

->'''Voiced by:''' Phil Hendrie (English), Dafnis Fernández (Latin American Spanish)

Jim Jeffords is a TV news reporter, anchorman, and talk show host who covers various then-current events. He also plays a clown named ''Hobo Jojo'' as the host of a kids' show on the same TV channel.
----
* TheAlcoholic: He once got in trouble for drunk driving, but the police arrested the bartender who served him instead. Oh, and he mentions all of this [[ItMakesSenseInContext while doing a news report about his own drunken shenanigans in third-person]].
* BlackLikeMe: He once disguised himself as a black man asking for help with car trouble, whom Frank drove away from in fear of being mugged. This all turned out to be part of an undercover story about racism.
* DepravedKidsShowHost: As the host of ''Hobo Jojo'', he's a total creep who picks audience contestants for the in-show game depending on whether or not their accompanying parent is pregnant, which he finds incredibly arousing (but only if they're white). He also stole all the prize toys from the game to use as Hannukah gifts for [[SecretOtherFamily his second family]], and rigged the game so no one will find out.
* {{Expy}}: The Hobo Jojo character is an even more degenerate version of [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Krusty the Clown]].
* {{Fetish}}: He is ''very'' attracted to pregnant women.
* HatesTheJobLovesTheLimelight: He has no love for the children that appear on the ''Hobo Jojo'' show. All he wants is the opportunity to get laid by the kids' moms.
* IntrepidReporter: He reports on various political topics, including feminism and racism.
* KentBrockmanNews: He's the main face of the local news.
* NiceCharacterMeanActor: As Hobo Jojo. When Maureen came close to winning a prize that he'd already embezzled, he rigs the game so that she loses.
* NobleBigot: Though he reported on issues like racism and feminism, he did spout some negative if sarcastic comments on them to the dismay of the interviewees.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted. He shares the same first name and a shortened nickname as Jimmy Fitzsimmons.

[[folder:Reid Harrison (Colt Luger)]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Phil Hendrie (English), Armando Coria (Latin American Spanish)

Reid Harrison is a Hollywood actor who stars as the [[CharacterTitle titular protagonist of]] ''[[ShowWithinAShow Colt Luger]]'', which is Frank's favorite action show on TV.
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Sort of. Despite having a huge beer belly and not much muscle, Reid still plays an action hero on TV. Though he drunkenly admits that a Chinese stunt double performs most of the feats for him on his show.
* TheAlcoholic: Reid seems to like his booze, which leads to some embarrassing outbursts with the media.
* BadBadActing: Reid Harrison doesn't seem like he deserves to win an UsefulNotes/EmmyAward any time soon.
* CatchPhrase: Colt Luger often says, "[[BadassBoast Sometime's a man's gotta do]]... ''[[LetsGetDangerous what a man does]]''."
* CelebrityCameo: Colt Luger appeared as a SpecialGuest in a cartoon that was a spoof of ''WesternAnimation/TheHarlemGlobetrotters''.
* CowboyCop: Colt Luger is an exaggerated parody of these kind of characters. In fact, he has no problem with roasting criminals to death with a ''[[KillItWithFire flamethrower]]''.
* HorribleHollywood: Implied, as Reid Harrison seems to be a rather [[TheAlcoholic miserable drunkard]] of a celebrity who [[YourCheatingHeart commits adultery]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: Harrison hosts an annual charity for sick children, but he recoils in disgust when a boy tries to hug him.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: He appears to be a pastiche of Creator/CharlesBronson.
* NobleBigotWithABadge: Aside from the white biker gang he fights in his initial appearance, every other time we see Colt Luger he's fighting stereotypical black, Asian, and Hispanic gangsters. In Season 2, he's seen fighting a white hippie woman, so this may be a case of HatesEveryoneEqually.
** Reid himself shows a bit of racial insensitivity when he says that his stunt double is a "Chinaman" with an unpronounceable name.
* PunnyName: Colt and Luger are both names of handguns.
* SerialSpouse: True to his depiction as a washed-up Hollywood actor, he has been married and divorced multiple times.
* ShowWithinAShow: ''Colt Luger'' is based on [[invoked]]([[NarmCharm very]] [[StylisticSuck cheesy]]) action/cop shows from TheSeventies.
* TestosteronePoisoning: Even though Colt Luger isn't a particularly impressive character or show, Frank seems to hold him up as an ideal example of a real "[[RatedMForManly man]]".
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: In-universe with his show. It's a violent crime show that airs on prime time, but an animated Colt Luger appears as a celebrity guest in a children's cartoon, and there's also a ''Colt Luger'' themed board game aimed at kids. Bill and Maureen are also fans of the show, the former having posters in his room and the latter wanting to dress as him for Halloween.
* YourCheatingHeart: Reid's current wife claims that she caught him having sex with one of his ''ex-wives''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Father Pat]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/BillBurr

A local Catholic priest.
----
* CureYourGays: Takes Greg Throater to a Bible Cruise to try to "cure" his homosexuality, it doesn't work.
* NiceGuy: He's one of the nicer characters on the show.
* PerpetualSmiler / ThePollyanna: He has a rather absurdly cheerful demeanor.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Louis Gagliardi]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Joe Buck

A labor union boss (and also apparently a mob boss) who is the president of the International Brotherhood of Baggage Handlers, Skycaps, Roadies and Circus Roustabouts. He is an associate of Rosie, Carl and Red who helps them out with negotiating their strike at Mohican Airways.
----
* {{Ambiguously|Gay}} {{Gayngster}}: He is possibly sleeping with a man based on this dialogue exchange:
--> '''Louis:''' I'm do back in Indiana, gotta be in Gary by midnight.\\
'''Roger:''' Well I want to be in ''Brandy'' by midnight.\\
'''Brandy:''' ''[giggles]'' I'm Brandy!\\
''[a man emerges from Louis' limo]''\\
'''Gary:''' And ''I'm'' Gary!
* {{Expy}}: In terms of physical appearance and mannerisms, he's very heavily based on [[Film/TheGodfather Vito Corleone]], along with having some features of [[Series/TheSopranos Paulie Gualtieri]].
* TheMafia: It's very unsubtly implied that he's an Italian-American [[TheDon mob boss]], and he clearly isn't afraid to get his own hands dirty.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: Given his ties to organized crime, it's not really surprising. He carries a concealed pistol, [[ItMakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext casually "kills" an animatronic robot bear at a pizzeria]], and also suggests killing Scoop Dunbarton (which Frank rejects).
* OneSteveLimit: Averted. He shares the same first name with Sue's unseen brother.
* WeirdTradeUnion: He represents a rather diverse variety of labor interests, including airport baggage handlers and circus performers.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:International Touch]]
->'''Voiced by:''' ???

A local pimp who works around the shadier parts of town.
----
* EveryoneHasStandards: He tries to get a girl to work for him and not the man whom he assumes is the girl's pimp. When he's told the "[[DudeLooksLikeALady girl]]" ([[MistakenForProstitute Kevin]]) is actually the man's (Frank's) son, [[ItMakesSenseInContext just wearing his mother's blouse]], International Touch had this to say:
--> '''International Touch''': ''Damn''. ''[to Frank]'' You sir, have failed as a father.
* MeanBoss: Being a pimp after all, he constantly berates his prostitutes.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ms. Vanderheim]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Mo Collins

A morbidly obese prostitute who works for International Touch.
----
* BailEqualsFreedom: While she's often arrested, International Touch always bails her out and she's back on the streets offering blowjobs.
* {{Catchphrase}}: "Suck jobs!"
* FatGirl: She looks to be somewhere in the range of 300-400 pounds.
* {{Gonk}}: Exaggerated; she is extremely obese and ridiculously ugly. However, this doesn't stop her from attracting some occasional clients.
* HookerWithAHeartOfGold: She does deeply care for her son Quincy, who's in Maureen's computer club.
* SingleMomStripper: She keeps her son Quincy ignorant about what she actually does for a living, but does warn him to not kiss her lips.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Smokey Greenwood]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Michael Kenneth Williams (English), Daniel del Roble (Latin American Spanish)

A friend of Rosie's who runs a business that delivers vending machine goods by van. He hires Frank after the latter lost his job at Mohican Airways.
----
* TheCameo: Has a non-speaking cameo in "The Stinger" sitting on the toilet at the bar.
* DeadpanSnarker: Much like Rosie, he's quite a smartass.
* DysfunctionalFamily: Smokey's anecdotes reveal that his family life is ''far worse'' than Frank's. He had an [[YourCheatingHeart unfaithful wife]] who ReallyGetsAround, and is troubled by deep remorse over [[ParentalAbandonment leaving behind his albino baby]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He is nice to Frank but he tends to be lax on business standards, such as poking holes in condoms and taking no liability for them. Unfortunately, [[spoiler:Frank happened to take one of them in the Season 2 finale]].
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: [[spoiler:By carelessly poking the condoms he was selling, he was indirectly responsible for Frank impregnating Sue, and thus half the problems that arose during Season 3.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Randy]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TJMiller (English), Eduardo Ramírez (Latin American Spanish)

Bill's boss for his paper route. He's also a drug dealer who convinces Bill to deliver weed on the side.
----
* AccidentalHero: [[spoiler:He accidentally runs over Jimmy Fitzsimmons right when the latter was about to slash Bill and Phillip with a switchblade.]]
* AMFMCharacterization: Played with, he's your typical 70's rocker but once his favorite rock station sells out and starts playing teen pop, he switches to blaring Polka music instead. He stated himself that he thinks that "The music sucks, but at least they're honest."
* AxCrazy: He's pretty quick to jump to threats.
* DirtyCoward: [[spoiler:He non-fatally injures Jimmy Fitzsimmons in a hit-and-run incident. And he implies that this wasn't even the first time he accidentally ran over a kid.]]
* DrivesLikeCrazy: Possibly because he's stoned all the time.
* FieryRedhead: A red-haired ball of fury.
* {{Jerkass}}: He can come off as this at times.
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler:He doesn't receive any punishment for running over Jimmy or the other unnamed kid before the former.]]
* MeanBoss: While not as bad as Dunbarton or the Plast-a-Ware executives, he can still be a huge JerkAss at times.
* MeaningfulName: "Randy" can be a loose term used for someone who's rude and aggressive, which is what he can be at times.
* PetTheDog: He scares off Jimmy when he was mugging Bill, and calls Phillip out for not helping him.
* WhatTheHellHero: He calls Phillip out on him not helping Bill out when the latter was being mugged by Jimmy Fitzsimmons.
* WouldHurtAChild: Or at least threaten to do so.

[[folder:Jefferson Davis (Tecumseh X. [=DuBois=])]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/PhilLaMarr (English), Roberto Carrillo (Latin American Spanish)

A radical leftist militant who leads the Black Liberation Alliance for Black Liberation.
----
* AngryBlackMan: He's based on [[MalcolmXerox black nationalist leaders]] of the '60s and '70s.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Just look at the name of his organization.
* EarlyBirdCameo: He makes a brief debut being interviewed by Jim Jeffords on his show just before the Season 2 finale.
* FreudianExcuse: He was [[MiscarriageOfJustice wrongly imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit]], but he eventually became a real criminal, wishing to get revenge on American society for the racism he suffered.
* IronicName: He hates his birth name of [[UnfortunateNames Jefferson Davis]] (calling it a "slave name", not to mention [[UsefulNotes/JeffersonDavis whom that name invokes]]). It's no surprise why he really doesn't want to be associated with one of the greatest proponents of black slavery and white supremacy in American history.
* MeaningfulName: However, his alias of Tecumseh X. [=DuBois=] is based on two historical black civil rights figures; UsefulNotes/MalcolmX and [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._E._B._Du_Bois W.E.B. [=DuBois=]]]. The first name might possibly be a reference to [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tecumseh Tecumseh]], a Shawnee Indian chieftain who led a few Native American rebellions, which is rather fitting for a non-white militant who wants to violently resist the US government.
* WesternTerrorists: He's a domestic terrorist, specifically a radical black communist. He kidnaps a rich white college student named Danielle Kerry [[note]]([[NoCelebritiesWereHarmed an obvious stand-in for]] [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patty_Hearst Patty Hearst]])[[/note]] and forcibly recruits her for his cause. His group later stages an attack on the local airport, taking Frank and his ex-co-workers as hostages, while attempting to hijack an airplane with a suitcase bomb.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Scott Ichikawa]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DebiDerryberry

A Japanese-American boy in Maureen's class.
----
* AsianAndNerdy: [[StereotypeFlip Subverted]]. Frank and Sue are summoned by Maureen's schoolteacher, who claims that she cheated on a math test by copying Scott Ichikawa, [[DoubleStandard due to believing that a white girl couldn't get a better score than an Asian boy]]. Scott eventually breaks down and tearfully confesses that ''he'' copied off ''Maureen'', revealing that he's not even good at schoolwork and prefers sports.
* BookDumb: Despite being of Asian descent, he admits to being bad at math and doesn't really like being in school. He'd rather prefer to get involved in bicycle sports.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jeffrey Dahmer]]
->'''Voiced by:''' ???

An obnoxious little boy who enjoys annoying other people. He's the son of a local police officer.
----
* BrattyHalfPint: He usually shows up to be an asshole to Frank or Bill.
* FourEyesZeroSoul: He wears glasses and he's a huge JerkAss.
* {{Jerkass}}: Whenever he shows up, it's just to harass one of the Murphys for his own amusement.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Yes, he does in fact [[https://i.redd.it/r89rvljmsm121.png share his name with]] the real-life SerialKiller '''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Dahmer Jeffrey Dahmer]]'''. Though for now, this is just an (in-universe) coincidence. Also, the real Dahmer would be Kevin's age in the year 1974, rather than Maureen's age.
* SitcomArchNemesis: For Frank. Even taking Frank's temper into account, Jeffrey's dickish behavior must push him pretty hard for Frank to try and beat him up.
* YoungFutureFamousPeople: If one interprets this kid as being this show's in-universe version of the ''real'' Jeffrey Dahmer.

* AccidentalHero: [[spoiler:An odd variant of this. The problem is that he still had to face a shit load of obstacles and nearly died.]]
--> '''Bill:''' I was trying to thank you!\\
'''Nuber:''' Fuck you and you're welcome!
* CarpetOfVirility: Morehead has a very hairy body, which is attributed to his Greek heritage.
* {{Delinquent}}s: They commit pretty crimes and hooliganism just for fun.
* EasilyForgiven: Kevin doesn't really hold any hard feelings against them after they bullied him on his first day of summer school.
* EveryoneHasStandards: They'll crash parties, but they'll still have the decency to bring their own booze (or at least steal some from somewhere else).
* LastNameBasis: Nuber and Morehead's first names are never revealed.
* SmurfettePrinciple: Nikki is the only female member of the group.
* TokenMinority: Nikki is a black girl hanging out with two white boys (or three when Kevin joins them).
* ToxicFriendInfluence: They easily convince Kevin to do bad things, up to and including [[spoiler:stealing a crate full of liquor for them]]. They even lampshade how they're such a gleefully corrupting influence on him.
* TwoGuysAndAGirl: Whenever Kevin doesn't hang out with them.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: Subverted. Kevin ''thinks'' this is the case when he meets back up with them in the "Bill Murphy's Night Out," only for them to get confused at this.
--> '''Kevin:''' Look guys, I know we had a falling out, but-\\
'''Morehead:''' We had a falling out?
* YoungerThanTheyLook: They're all around the age of fifteen-years-old, but they look like they can pass for college students. Morehead being hairy can help him look older than he already is when he goes to purchase alcohol for the gang.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mr. Durkin]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Phil Hendrie

Kevin's abusive summer school teacher.
----
* ButtMonkey: Basically nothing good ever happens to him.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Gets one thanks to Kevin. When he introduces himself to the class, he says nothing rhymes with his last name. This comes back to bite him in the ass. The end result is him now being stuck with the nickname "Mr. Jerkin."
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Him wearing glasses doesn't make him less of a JerkAss.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: He's an abusive teacher who claims that he's only hard on his students because [[SaveOurStudents he cares,]] but he's really [[OnlyInItForTheMoney only a teacher because he needs the money.]]
* SadistTeacher: He's a huge hardass on his students.
* SaveOurStudents: Subverted. While he claims he's taken the job because he cares, the reality is that he's OnlyInItForTheMoney.
* SternTeacher: Subverted. He claims to care for his students deep down, but in reality, he's only concerned with his paycheck.
* StrawLoser: His life makes Frank's life look like paradise in comparison.

[[Characters/FIsForFamilyBusinesses Businesses]]
* CatchPhrase:
* ParentalNeglect:

* TeensAreShort

* {{Fanboy}}: For ''Nickel and Pickle'', a Creator/HannaBarbera-esque cartoon.

* AlliterativeName: '''M'''aureen '''M'''urphy

->'''Voiced by:''' TBA

[[folder:Frank's Parents]]
->'''Father voiced by:''' TBA
->'''Mother voiced by:''' TBA

[[folder:Sue's Parents]]
->'''Father voiced by:''' Creator/KurtwoodSmith
->'''Mother voiced by:''' Carol Kane

->'''Voiced by:''' TBA

Sue's gay brother currently living in Florida.
----

----
* SeventiesHair: Her hairstyle is modeled after Farrah Fawcett.
[[/folder]]

->'''Goomer voiced by:''' Creator/TrevorDevall (English), David Camarillo (Spanish, Season 1) and Erick Selim (Spanish, Season 2)
->'''Evelyn voiced by:''' Eileen Fogarty

----
* BlindingBangs: Ben.

-->'''Kevin:''' I'm the soul of this band!\\
'''Bolo:''' Well we're the dick and balls!\\
'''Kevin:''' Stop talking about dicks!\\
'''Bolo:''' I ''can't!''

* JewishAndNerdy: Lex.

* OneOfTheBoys
* TheSmurfettePrinciple
* SouthernBelle: Like some of the other Murphy's neighbors, she has a Southern accent.

!!!'''The Bonfiglio Family'''

[[folder:Babe and Marie Bonfiglio]]
->'''Babe voiced by:''' Kevin Farley (English), Ricardo Bautista (Latin American Spanish)
->'''Marie voiced by:''' Jamie Denbo

* BestFriend: Of Bill.
* NerdyInhaler
* NightmareFuelColoringBook: His "Kill Book".
* TranquilFury: When Bill starts spending more time with Bridget than with Phil, he gives a clenched smile and ''rips out an eyebrow''.

* {{Catchphrase}}: "Y'KNOW WHAT? Y'KNOW WHAT?"

->'''Voiced by:''' Joe Buck
* KickTheDog:

* {{Jerkass}}: Needless to say.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DebiDerryberry

* FieryRedhead: She's red-haired and quick-tempered, but legitimately dangerous.

!!!'''The Stevenson Family'''

[[folder:Chet Stevenson]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/VinceVaughn

* BaitTheDog: He agrees to help out Frank and Sue with building an extra room in their house for their new baby, [[spoiler:but he soon reports an anonymous tip to the authorities (it was constructed without any legal permits), just to get back at the Murphys for the July 4th debacle]].
* EvilCounterpart:

->'''Voiced by:''' Eileen Fogarty

* RepetitiveName: "Rosie" Roosevelt.

* HeterosexualLifePartners
* HarmfulToMinors
* LackOfEmpathy: Besides laughing at Ed's death tape, if you look closely you can actually see that Red laughs in the tape. As in, as Ed dies in front of him.

* HairTriggerTemper
* ManChild
* PetTheDog:

----
* SeventiesHair: Has a Farrah Fawcett haircut, similar to Cutie Pie.
* BareYourMidriff
* BigEater: She defiantly eats a large sandwich despite her husband warning that she'll get fat.
* BrainlessBeauty: She's very attractive but just as airheaded.
* FieryRedhead: She's shown to be this whenever she's not around Dunbarton at least.

Sue's main supervisor at the Plast-a-Ware company.
----
* ChildHater
* CoolCar: Is very proud of her lime green lady Lincoln.
* {{Ephebophile}}: Back when she was a school lunch lady, she was sleeping with Vic while he was a student at the school.
* FamilyVersusCareer: Vivian had no problem choosing a career over children. Mainly because she seems to dislike kids, especially Sue's.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Ends up dropping her partnership with Sue and returning to her old job at Plast-a-Ware when it becomes clear that Sue's Forkoontula isn't going to be a winning idea.
* MeanBoss
* MrsRobinson
* NecessarilyEvil: "Evil" might be too strong a word for it, but a lot of her meanness seems to stem from dealing with the deceptively unpleasant working environment at Plast-a-Ware, and a bunch of ''ridiculously'' misogynistic, asshole bosses. In fact, [[TookALevelInKindness she warms up quite a bit]] once Sue transfers to corporate, going from catty and vaguely contemptuous of Sue to the being the only boss at Plast-a-Ware who's actually in Sue's corner and affords her any real respect.
* StepfordSmiler: You can hear the fakeness dripping in her voice.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: When she drops the faux-cheerfulness, her actual personality is fairly blunt and sarcastic at best, but she's not a bad person deep down, and helps Sue to develop her Salad Tosser invention because she thinks it's a great idea and genuinely wants Sue to succeed.

!!Other Characters

[[folder:James "Jim" Jeffords (Hobo Jojo)]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/BillBurr

->'''Voiced by:''' Joe Buck

->'''Voiced by:''' ???

->'''Voiced by:''' Mo Collins

A morbidly obese prostitute who works for International Touch.
----
* BailEqualsFreedom: While she's often arrested, International Touch always bails her out and she's back on the streets offering blowjobs.
* {{Catchphrase}}: "Suck jobs!"

* FieryRedhead: A red-haired ball of fury.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DebiDerryberry

[[folder:Jeffrey Dahmer]]
->'''Voiced by:''' ???

--> '''Bill:''' I was trying to thank you!\\

* FourEyesZeroSoul: Him wearing glasses doesn't make him less of a JerkAss.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: He's an abusive teacher who claims that he's only hard on his students because [[SaveOurStudents he cares,]] but he's really [[OnlyInItForTheMoney only a teacher because he needs the money.]]
* SadistTeacher: He's a huge hardass on his students.
