When the scene is revisted, Cooler gives a more elaborate rationale that hints at his deeper resentment of his brother.

* FreudianExcuse: PlayedForLaughs. He hates Goku because the latter cried when they were babies. A lot. For like three hours. TFS doesn't hesitate to mercilessly lampshade how ludicrous his motivation is.

* AdaptationalVillainy: Minor example all things considered, but [[spoiler:when Trunks kills his sister in canon, 17 is horrified and enraged. In this version he instead asks if Trunks would consider sparing him and doesn't comment on his sister's death. To his credit though, he was pants-shittingly terrified of Trunks at that point.]]
* AffablyEvil: Much like Present Android 17, he only wants to have fun... only instead of driving trucks, it's bringing the human race to near extinction. He even gets bored of destroying things and decides to range a park. At least before Gohan "slaps [his] shit".

* BondOneLiner: "Kakarot." After Broly devolves into saying "Kakarot," Broly says it as a one-liner after crushing his dad to death in his space pod and hurling the crushed pod into the oncoming comet.

** The commentaries confirm that he survived, but [[UnreliableNarrator Vegeta]] specifically thinks he's dead.

* HarmfulToMinors: The most prominent Shamoshan who gets off on the sadism is mentioned to be a podling.

* AmbiguousSituation: Tarble is stated to have been killed by Vegeta trying to kill off Santa, although they NeverFoundTheBody.

* NeverFoundTheBody: Vegeta blew up his pod when he was a kid, and states they never found his corpse.

* GutturalGrowler: Once he goes Legendary, his voice gets noticeably rougher.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Embalming fluid, particularly the ingredient formaldehyde, is both toxic and a carcinogen. The fact that Wheelo's brain soaked in it for ''fifty years'' did him no favors whatsoever, and as a result (according to ''Broly Abridged'') he died of brain cancer shortly after getting his new body.

* CanonImmigrant: Cooler is actively referenced many times by Freeza during the series before he shows up, and his first special fits snugly in the three-year wait for the androids, thus seemingly counting as a part of TFS ''Canon''. During the making-off of ''Cooler 2'', however, [=KaiserNeko=] went on a mini-rant on ''that'' movie's ''many'' continuity errors that prevent it from fitting in the timeline, and has expressed that the movies in general do not occupy the same continuity as the main abridged series. He eventually makes a proper appearance within the main ''DBZA'' continuity in episode 9 of ''WebAnimation/{{HFIL}}'' and mentions the Big Gete Star solidifying its canonicity.
