* GratuitousJapanese: After Grandis utters the [[MemeticMutation memetic]] "[[WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy SUBALUWA]]" [[spoiler:upon proceeding to DropTheHammer on Darigus]] during ''Digimon Re: Tamers'', not even Renamon can understand what Grandis had actually said.

[[spoiler:On the surface, he appears to be using the name of the author himself; '''Martin W. Mollohan''', but this appears to be because Grandis, despite his usual impressions he gives, is often seen as a {{Puppet King}} in more ways than one; it is briefly implied in ''Sword Art Online: Special Edition'' that Grandis has a mind separate from the author himself, but it's constantly being pushed to the sidelines in favor of Grandis serving as a lab rat for everyone else. Regardless, he's stated by the author to be a more idealistic, albeit incredibly exaggerated, take on his more aggressive personality; while some friends have compared him to Odin, the author instead feels "Bowser as a good guy" better sums up the nature of his character, especially considering Grandis' physical abilities.]]

[[spoiler:It's worth noting that during the events of ''Digimon Re: Tamers'', Grandis is seemingly killed off, only for the events that occurred with the Digimon known as Brondramon to have been a simulation. Despite that, the RealityBreakingParadox that would occur upon the death of an Ultimorian Deity still took place, and the Grandis that awakens from the simulation is actually not Grandis-Prime, but rather a reincarnation that was immediately swapped into existence as Grandis-Prime was now just a heavily scorched corpse. All who witnessed the simulation, except for Henry, don't immediately know that Grandis-Prime is long gone, since they had never dealt with these events before at all, leaving them initially clueless as to why Grandis is behaving so weirdly throughout the next several chapters. Henry eventually confronts the new incarnation of Grandis, and is bluntly informed that Grandis-Prime is no more, because even attempting to simulate the RealityBreakingParadox caused the death of Grandis-Prime to be accelerated into motion, and thus the new incarnation's sudden appearance happening at the same time, conveniently placed in a point in time where he at first gives the impression Grandis-Prime survived the ordeal. In addition to this, Grandis-Prime still ''technically'' survived due to his now temporally displaced "Kid Grandis" incarnation winding up in the present, and proving to be a much bigger hassle than Grandis ever was known to be prior. It's slightly mitigated in terms of Grandis' death, though, in that due to him being the Omniscient, he slowly regains old memories of his from his past incarnation, and is only helped further with this by the laser beam Kizmel had fired into space to summon Ultima's attention to the situation. Ultima's exact role in the sudden appearance of a new Grandis is questionable, though, as Grandis himself showcases quite an ungrateful nature towards Ultima, as this distrust towards him would be seen decades later in ''Sword Art Online: Special Edition''.]]

[[spoiler:In the non-canon installment ''You Have Entered The Uninvited World'', Grandis does not have any offspring, with the role of Chronicler's father going to Zaalim. Other than that not much has changed aside from Grandis' having always been single in this version. He tends to carry on hand the RIOT Brigade weaponry as opposed to storing it in HammerSpace, usually always having a Megatron-esque fusion cannon attached to his right arm.]]

* TheOmniscient: {{Deconstructed}}; it's borderline HiddenDepths of his that this is actually the case, as when other characters state him to be this it usually comes across as an InformedAttribute because of [[TheDitz the obvious lack of common sense and social understanding Grandis has]]. [[LetsGetDangerous When he actually takes the time to]] ''[[LetsGetDangerous think]]''[[LetsGetDangerous , however,]] [[{{Reconstruction}} this is when the omniscience is displayed in full force]] [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome even if it does confuse him as to where to even begin to search for information in his head regarding it.]]

* SuperPrototype: Designated as "AI-000" by Dr. Devoniak in ''Sword Art Online: Special Editon''. At first seems kind of jarring considering Mirror M's actual placement as this trope, but then you consider that Dr. Devoniak and Grandis are both TimeAbyss entities who are ArchEnemies...
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Because of his abilities being CastFromStamina, [[spoiler:he spends much of his time in ''Digimon Re: Adventure'' sleeping because he's mode locked into his Phase 4 form, which simply burns stamina through ordinary movement alone, not even taking into account all 100% of his base power is unrestrained in this form as well. As a result, considering it's far easier to waste power in this form, he spends much of his time asleep as to make sure he can make every drop of his stamina count for when he needs it the most.]]
** [[spoiler:He completely decimates an already abandoned area of the state to glass when he transforms into Exalted Grandis and uses his immense strength and gargantuan size to pulverize Ogudomon, resulting in the place looking nothing less than like an impact crater from an asteroid.]]

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: His ability to only see the true forms of people also applies to those who have true forms which are harmful to simply look at. [[spoiler:He can't look at the Dragora for too long without suffering some kind of SanitySlippage from doing so, since he can easily see their true forms no differently from being able to see the true forms of everything and anything else.]]

* HurtingHero: ''Good lord''. [[spoiler:In addition of being the only Ultimorian Deity to retain ''all'' of his prior memories from before the multiverse-wide reset, he's suffering initially from having so much anger and frustration with nobody to call a companion as none of his co-workers have been reborn yet. He tries to peacefully get Ultima and Dragora Galaxia to side with him as the Ultimorian Deity Big Three instead of violently like before, but the two Ultimorian Deities refuse to listen so the confrontation goes down exactly like it did prior. Then that's not even getting started on what happens between himself and his wife to which Chronicler has no idea so far as to how badly Grandis had been hurting ever since he was captured within this world for so long.]]

* TokenWhite: He's the go to [[{{Eagleland}} Eaglelander]] in ''Sword Art Online: Special Edition'', ''Reflection Code'', '''and''' ''Digimon Re: Tamers''. He's technically not the sole white to appear in some of them, especially ''Reflection Code'' and ''Digimon Re: Tamers'', but due to his AscendedExtra status in both fics, he more or less fits the bill as he's otherwise surrounded by either Whites from European origins, all sorts of types of Asians be it full or half, various AmbiguouslyBrown characters of differing descents, and other ethnicities one would find in Europe such as Germans, French, or even Russians.

Grandis is an enigma of a character once you're in the know about any of the above information, or to anything of what is below. Being a character who is guaranteed to appear OnceAnEpisode will do that for you, even among his fellow Ultimorian Deities and his son, whom sometimes don't even get appearances as often as Grandis does. To date, Grandis is the first Ultimorian Deity who has finished his debut arc in terms of establishing his overall presence and character, but due to his lazy nature, he tends to give Ultima the primary leadership of the whole group unless Grandis has his hand forced otherwise. In such a situation, Grandis will be the one calling the shots. Oddly enough, Grandis ''does'' seem to call the shots a lot more often when he's in a role of leadership ''not'' of the Ultimorian Deities; why he's this inconsistent has yet to be cleared up, but it's already been established he's already an OxymoronicBeing due to the fact he's ThePigPen despite having a SuperOCD attitude towards everything not related to himself.

* AlmightyJanitor: A ''very'' literal example; often times when Grandis is posing as a civilian, he's in some way or form a guy who works as a janitor or at least as a groundskeeper type of job. The {{Irony}} comes into play when you consider Grandis himself is ThePigPen type of cleanliness, and yet he has SuperOCD about everything else except himself.

* InsaneTrollLogic: His occupation as a janitor much of the time leads to many questioning him as to why he's ThePigPen and yet he has SuperOCD for everything else in comparison.

** He takes the job of a janitor a lot and is SuperOCD, and yet can't even be bothered to avert ThePigPen for himself.

* SuperOCD: Why he takes the job of janitor a lot whichever universe he winds up in next.

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Had to kick Ultima and Dragora's asses to get the role he's in now. [[spoiler:When the two threaten to glass the ''Sword Art Online'' multiverse just to prevent EXODUS from escaping, Grandis doesn't waste time in proceeding to kick both of their asses again [[IronicEcho to remind them who is their one true king]].]]

* RichIdiotWithNoDayJob: Technically speaking, nothing is stopping Grandis from living a feral lifestyle as his Phase 3 form and being left to his own devices, but considering how much Grandis feels the need to at least ''attempt'' to socialize without [[GoMadFromTheIsolation Going Mad From The Isolation]], Grandis attempts to take an {{Inverted}} GodGuise in which he's either a hobo or a garbage man of some variety, and has a very small sense of common sense and a lack of proper grasp on social customs that you honestly would never guess that Grandis is actually TheOmniscient but is severely hampered with his intelligence by his previously mentioned lack of common sense and social understanding.

* AnAxeToGrind: His RIOT Brigade Hammer he's most associated with nowadays can actually transform itself into a gigantic two-handed axe, which as far as effectiveness against various opponents go, two-handed axe weaponry is superbly effective against Zenithian entities.

* GrumpyBear: When he's at his most tame he comes across as this if he doesn't know about you very much; when he's more familiar with you he'll treat you rather casually, but only if he has some semblance of familiarity with your person. It ''also'' varies on whether or not Grandis is going through an arc in which he's in a more somber mood, such as when we first see his RageAgainstTheHeavens rant in ''Sword Art Online: Special Edition''.

* {{Teleportation}}: Grandis can teleport to anywhere so long as he has the intended destination within his line of sight. While Grandis would at first appear limited to get from point A to B across the entire Earth, Grandis has been noted to use the Moon or passing space debris big enough for him to land on to quickly teleport from one side of the planet to the other in a MultistageTeleport. There is one minor problem with this at times; there doesn't appear to be any upper limit for the actual distance in which Grandis can teleport in an instant. This has lead to Grandis misfiring this ability and winding up traveling several thousand lightyears into another star system by complete accident at times, sometimes even going as far as to wind up in an entirely different galaxy millions upon millions of lightyears away.
