* BareYourMidriff: He usually wore some short, sporty tanktop in the beginning.

* {{Bishounen}}: Quite handsome for an assassin/bodyguard.

* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Serves this purpose to Touya over the course of the series. He's shown to be much more open with his emotions around her, and he tries to rein in his indiscriminate killing of enemies because it upsets her.
* LotusEaterMachine: Gets placed into one by Alec, which is described as being a happy dream for her, when they intend to place a microchip into her brain, to make her compliant. She manages to break out of it through Touya's and Ceres' help.
* MissingMom: Her mother remains in a coma for majority of the series.
* NewTransferStudent: Changes school several times in the series, usually because there's a legend of a celestian maiden nearby, and her robe may still be around.

* ATragedyOfImpulsiveness: Before becoming a couple with Touya, Aya has a habit of acting impulsively, like any teenager, which often lands her in trouble. When Touya becomes Aya's lover and Living Emotional Crutch, he has a way of getting her to think and act with a clearer head in a way no one else can. Without him, she is prone to revert to this. This trait is best shown during the Tango arc, while she is separated from Touya and still reeling from Miori's suicide. With Mikagi actively threatening Yuuhi and the lives of those close to her, she becomes prone to try handling matters entirely by herself and once again not thinking things through, including vowing never to work with Ceres again. This leads to her almost getting raped multiple times, being captured by Mikagi and her brain nearly being rewritten.

* PregnantBadass: Volume 11 onward. She may be pregnant, and does her best to take care of herself and the baby, but she isn't above being as headstrong and feisty as she was before. Though she leaves Ceres to do the really physical things.
* SexForSolace: Offers to fulfill Yuuhi's wish of having her when she's still too vulnerable from losing Touya. They don't go through with it, and Aya ends up ashamed for offering.

* ForgottenFirstMeeting: Aya met him when she was around 8 years old, when she visited the island that Touya was on for a vacation. Due to it being a vague childhood memory and Touya's amnesia, they both forgot until they returned to the island to jog their memories.

* DeterminedWidow: She got herself back onto her feet and took care of Yuuhi. She also joins Aya's quest to find a celestial robe and take on the Mikage family, though she mostly remains in the background and only researches things.

* HotScientist: He is very easy on the eyes.

* IllGirl: Yuki has a weak constitution and is seen fainting repeatedly.

* BlindingBangs: After his eye gets destroyed, he changes his hairstyle to cover it up.

* BlindingBangs: His hair is always falling into the right side of his face.

* BlindingBangs: The left side of her hair is always falling a bit into her face.

* [[CoolBigSis Cool Big Sis-In-Law]]: For Yuuhi, though she also takes on this role for Aya, despite no relation.

* [[YouKilledMyFather You Killed My Mother]]: Miori hates Aya because her powers as Ceres awoke and she killed most of her relatives, which included Miori's mother.

* IllBoy: Introduced as a patient in the hospital, and wheelchair-bound because of non-functioning legs.

* BeautyMark: Below her right eye.

Shouta is Chidori's younger brother and was a patient in the Tochigi prefecture hospital during the C-Project induced 'illness'. His legs have been paralyzed since the accident that killed his parents, and thinks it's hopeless that he'll ever get better. He manages to strike up an odd friendship with Touya while at the hospital. Shouta eventually does choose to go through physical therapy and regain the useage of his legs.

* PutDownYourGunAndStepAway: He's held hostage by the Ancestor and Touya demands him to be let go, dropping his weapon in the process. The Ancestor does let Shouta go [[HostageSituation in exchange of Touya staying]].
* SatelliteCharacter: Shouta himself has not much meaning to the plot, beyond introduction Chidori and being the means of her motivation.
