[[folder: Chaos]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b9ee110be4dca5ab5f376b1f7bcfaec7.png]]

The water god and guardian of the Chao.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: While his power level is largely the same as a villain, Chaos never really did anything after his HeelFaceTurn in the games. Here, he comes back as an ally and he's still quite powerful. Notably when the planet breaks apart for the ''Unleashed'' adaptation, Chaos was added and it's through his power that the oceans don't drain.
* AdaptationalVillainy: In the games, his RoaringRampageOfRevenge was a result of the Knuckles Clan attempting to steal the Chaos Emeralds and hurting the Chao he was protecting in the process. In the comic, this event never took place, [[AdaptationExplanationExtrication effectively removing Chaos' motivation]] [[AdaptationInducedPlothole and rendering his rampage unexplained.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: Pulls this in #263 to save Sonic and Rotor from drowning.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: Became this in the comic as a result of the comic removing the very reason for his rampage.
* HeelFaceTurn: His purification at the end of ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'' has turned him into a valuable ally.
* KillItWithWater: His specialty. He can manipulate and shoot/throw water jets and spheres, and he even slams a Dark Gaia Guardian down with the freaking ''ocean''.
* MakingASplash: He ''is'' made of water.
* PhysicalGod: Powerful enough to hold back the oceans from draining out of Mobius and still slap around Dark Gaia's minions!
* TheVoiceless: In his normal 0 form, he doesn't speak or make any vocalizations. Averted with the bone-shaking roar his Perfect form can unleash.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Tikal]]
[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e28e770a5f86648954f06ca469b173d6.png]]
The spirit of Pachacamac's daughter.

* BigGood: The fact that she realizes what's going on with the Shattered World Crisis seems to lead her to be this.
* TheGodsMustBeLazy: Averted. Her lack of response towards Coral's prayers were less because Coral was a failure at reaching and more because Dark Gaia's influence was screwing everything up.

!!New Universe Characters (Post-Genesis Wave)
!!! Shattered World characters
[[folder: Chip]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c1a0ad72f0c88fbb443a9a1a69a87e97.png]]

A.K.A Light Gaia. The same winged furry fella from ''VideoGame/SonicUnleashed'' introduced in the comic proper in the new universe, he's put in charge of guarding a Chaos Emerald which got the Hooligans after him. Team Chaotix managed to save him and he's hung around with Knuckles helping to find the missing pieces of the Master Emerald. Eventually he meets up with Sonic and joins the Freedom Fighters in helping to restore the broken Earth following the ''Worlds Collide'' crossover.
----
* AdaptationExpansion: In the game he mostly just hung around Sonic, here he interacts with more of the cast. In fact he meets Knuckles first before Sonic.
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: The Gaia Colossus which is needed to fight the Dark Gaia to which he controls it.
* ButNowIMustGo: As in the game, he returns to the Earth once Dark Gaia is defeated.
* DistressedDude: Ends up getting kidnapped by the Battle Bird Armada and brought to Eggman in the climax of the ''Sonic Unleashed'' adaptation.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Has amnesia due to being forcefully awaken when the Genesis Wave broke apart the world and as such doesn't really know his role as Light Gaia as of yet. He gradually gets it back over the course of the Shattered World adventure however.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: The comic doesn't hide that he's the Light Gaia not long after he's introduced. So if you haven't played ''Sonic Unleashed'', well...
* NervousWreck: When we first meet him since he was stuck in a mine in Pumpkin Hill in the dark and guarding a Chaos Emerald to boot. Can't blame him really.
* PalsWithJesus: Close to it anyway, Tikal and he get along pretty well. This is also essentially his dynamic with Knuckles, Sonic and the Freedom Fighters.
* SealedGoodInACan: What he was countered with Dark Gaia's SealedEvilInACan. Ultimately has to return to it when Dark Gaia is beaten.
* SweetTooth: Can always be seen eating something sugar related.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: First Spark]]
The entity that began all life in the universe. Appeared before Chip in the Mazuri Gaia Temple and helped him regain his memories.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Dark Gaia]]
The dark entity that slumbers within the Earth's core. Normally only to be awoken every thousand years, the Earth being split apart due to all the Genesis waves and Eggman ramming into Sonic after the end of ''Worlds Collide'' caused it to awake prematurely. With it's dark power spreading across the planet as monsters and likewise causing negative influences in certain areas as well.
----
* EldritchAbomination: It's final form is a big serpentine like monster with multiple eyes for a head.
* EvilIsNotAToy: Eggman thought he could use it's power to power Eggmanland and his Death Egg. All he accomplishes is helping reform it, it's powers decimating Eggmanland at the same time and nearly bringing about the end of the world.
* FinalBoss: Dark Gaia's Perfect form is the final foe Sonic battles in this continuity.
* GreaterScopeVillain: For the whole of the Shattered World arc. While Eggman and his Egg Bosses are the central threat through most of the story. It's influence is still heavily felt what with it's monsters causing problems for both the Eggman Empire and the Freedom Fighters.
* HijackedByGanon: As in the game, it the ultimate threat of the Shattered World arc. Heck Eggman practically and unwittingly helps reform it when he tried to use it's power to charge up the Death Egg.
* SealedEvilInACan: What he is countered with Chip's SealedGoodInACan. Wasn't intentionally awakened however in this rendition, but came about due to all the Genesis Waves finally taking their toll on the planet. It's ultimately defeated and resealed back in the Earth.
* TheCorrupter: Somewhat. Sonic breathing in some of it's mist caused him to turn into a were-hog and go feral intially before he learned to control it's power. It causes the king and queen of Meropolis to act irrationally which nearly doomed their people. Ellidy and Sally to get into a heated argument at one point due to it's influence and it turned the guardian of Chun-nan BrainwashedAndCrazy with it's power.

!!! Meropis Kingdom
A underwater kindgom of fish people within the South Ocean lead by King Puff and Queen Angelica.

[[folder: King Puff and Queen Angelica]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/archie_sonic_king_puff_and_queen_angelica.jpg]]
King and Queen of Meropis. A pufferfish and Angler fish respectively.
----
* FacePalm: Angelica is seen doing this in a side panel during the "Champions" arc when Puff loses a wager with Razor from a bet on one of the fights.
* HairTriggerTemper: King Puff has a pretty short fuse and prone to outburst when he hears something he doesn't like.
* OhCrap: Not stated out loud, but their expressions when they re-instate Coral seem this when they realize said outsiders whom they didn't believe at first are ''friends with Chaos''.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Subverted initially as they didn't believe Sonic's explanation about Eggman and the Dark Gaia and nearly dismissed Coral when she couldn't seem to wake their guardian. Once the Dark Gaia influence is cleared from the area however, they become more rational in their decisions, apologizing for their distrust and re-instating Coral as the head priestess of their city.
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: King Puff is comically short compared to his wife, whom is more normal-sized.
* WomenAreWiser: It's pretty obvious Angelica is the main voice in her marriage with Puff, as she's the one who usually always speaks on their behalf.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Princess Undina]]
[[quoteright:245:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/archie_sonic_undina.jpg]]
Princess of Meropis and daughter of Puff and Angelica.
----
* DidntThinkThisThrough: She thought she could use the pirates to her advantage to travel the world, since she was too valuable a ransom, as well as the fact she can use Mystic Melody to locate ruins which could potentially contain treasure as payment for the travels. However, considering she was dealing with pirates, she didn't take into account the fact that they would be too greedy to listen to reason about certain warnings on the ruins they raided, or the fact that they may discard her if they get something more valuable. She especially gets worried when Shellbreaker admits to wanting to invade her home once he get his hands on a supposed weapon she found.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Shows up first during the "Champions" arc (#271 to be exact) as one of the crowd enjoying the fight between Sonic and Knuckles and makes scant background appearances in following issues. She's finally introduced proper during the "Search for the Princess" arc in ''Sonic Universe''.
* HiddenDepths: She comes off a bit lackadaisical at first, but can be more on the ball then a lot of people give her credit for:
** During a conversation with Espio, she hints that she doesn't mind staying with the pirates that "kidnapped" her, since it allows her to see more of the world more freely and without having to worry about funds, essentially stating she's using them for her benefit.
** She covered for the Chaotix when they were discussing their plan, keeping suspicion off of them from the Setting Dawn pirates.
** At the end of the arc, she ends up saving everyone by revealing she knew the password to the Setting Dawn, allowing the Chaotix, Razor, Crusher, Echo and herself to escape, explaining it was all part of her plan to take the ship for herself and continue traveling without worrying about them or money, as well as revealing that she was leading them on treasure hunts so as to keep them from targeting other ships.
** The reason she wants to travel in the first place? She'd like to be an ambassador to the surface world when she finishes her studies and returns home.
* InsistentTerminology: Prefers to be called Deena rather then her royal title.
* RealityEnsues:
** Wanderlust is fine and all, but you still need funds to travel, and since Undina didn't tell her parents that she had decided to tour the world, she quickly found herself running low on money. It's only thanks to running into Honey and being offered a job that she managed to continue funding her trip.
** Likewise not contacting home to let her parents know she's alright. Naturally, they start becoming worried for her.
** As she found out later, pirates aren't the most trustworthy people to deal with.
* WalkingTheEarth: She was initially studying at a college in Spagonia before deciding to travel the world. Fine and all... except she didn't bother to tell her parents. She reveals later that her parents were already adamant about her going to the surface for school and figures if they hear of the "kidnapping" incident, they'll force her to come home.
* ValleyGirl: Talks like a stereotypical one. Noticeably, she drops it near the end of the story when she and the others are safe, suggesting it was an act.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Captain Striker]]
[[quoteright:249:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/archie_sonic_captain_striker_2.jpg]]

Leader of the Meropis city guard. A Mantis Shrimp.
----
* EyepatchOfPower: Has one on his right eye.
* HookHand: Claw in this case. He has a golden one on his left hand.
* {{Jerkass}}: Comes off as a bit of one. He doesn't really believe Coral is best suited for the job of priestess, claiming she's a fraud when she can't seem to raise their guardian and refusing to send backup when the temple is under attack. However, he changes his tone when Chaos helps fend off the threat and Tikal manages to help Coral fix the barrier over the city.
* OhCrap: Seeing Chaos come to aid Sonic and Rotor during the fight against the Dark Gaia monster, which pretty much validates Sonic's story from earlier, which he had dismissed. In turn, this meant he had to swallow his pride and admit that he was wrong about Coral as well, since Sonic vouched for her earlier in front of Puff and Angelica.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Echo]]
[[quoteright:254:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/archie_sonic_echo.jpg]]
The lieutenant of the Meropis City Guard. A dolphin.
----
* AlreadyDoneForYou: Non-video game example. During the "Search for the Princess" arc in ''Sonic Universe''. She comes to the Chaotix Detective Agency to ask their help in finding her princess. When Vector starts going over where they need to start looking, Echo reveals she's already covered most of her bases in her search and only came to them because she hit a dead end with a dock worker who refused to help her, much to Vector's chagrin.
* AmphibiousAutomobile: Owns one, oddly enough, despite being an aquatic being. It's just a simple pink colored car that's modified to survive the ocean depths.
* AscendedExtra: A bit character during the "Waves of Change" arc. She gets a more expanded role in the "Search for the Princess" arc.
* BeleagueredAssistant: Ultimately becomes one to Undina, when she reveals she won't return home before traveling the world (as her parents were against her going to the surface in the first place and hearing of the pirate incident certainly won't help matters), and gets shanghaied into coming along with her on her trip to make sure she stays safe.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: When it seems Razor and the Chaotix have joined the side of the pirates who "kidnapped" Undina, she's unaware that the two are doing it to keep said pirates from harming them until they can come up with a plan. Espio eventually clues her in later on.
* MythologyGag: Her name to one of Sega's older games. I.E: ''VideoGame/EccoTheDolphin''.

[[folder: Feist]]
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px-feist01_181.jpg]]

A giant panda bear-like entity who lives in and controls the Special Zone, formerly the Zone of Silence aka the Void.
----
* ArchEnemy: To Naugus ''big-time.'' He fought against him some time in the past and lost, which is what led him to being stuck there in the first place. Since Sonic and the gang are also enemies of Naugus, he's following the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" attitude with them.
* AGodAmI: When the entire galaxy's collection of Chaos Emerald enter the Zone of Silence, he takes the opportunity to go full out this.
* DimensionLord: As mentioned above, when all the Chaos Emeralds fell into the Zone of Silence, he took all of them and formed the seven Chaos Emeralds from the games while making himself the absolute ruler of the new Special Zone.
* ItAmusedMe: Apparently, his entire ''modis operandi'' as ruler of the Special Zone is basically having individuals who arrive there undergo inane challenges for his amusement, offering up a Chaos Emerald as a prize. He lets Team Dark run around his realm for an Emerald in the hopes of getting entertainment. Likewise when Eggman and Snively end up in the dimension, he has the two race for a Chaos Emerald.
* PutOnABus: Gone after the Penders lawsuit.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Downplayed example. When Sonic and Tails meet him, he gives Sonic the gray Chaos Emerald as a thank-you gift since it was their actions that allowed him to become DimensionLord in the first place. However, he did say that was the only freebie and they'd have to earn one the next time they visit. He's also a guy of his word if you meet his challenges. Piss him off though, and "reasonable" goes out the window.
* WhateverHappenedToTheMouse: He's the answer to the question, according to WordOfGod. The residents of the Zone of Silence and the Void, including the original Freedom Fighters were ''destroyed'' and reduced to raw material that Feist used to make his Special Zone.

!!!Echidnas

[[folder: Locke]]

Knuckles's biological father and member of the Brotherhood of Guardians. When he had a nightmarish vision about his then-unborn son dying in battle against a horrible threat, he consulted his grandfather Athair and was advised to prepare. Applying genetic experiments to himself for Knuckles to inherit, and exposing Knuckles's egg to Chaos energy tapped from Angel Island's own emerald, Locke sought to give Knuckles the power to protect his people. However this, along with the traditional Guardian training, caused his wife to divorce him. After faking his death in front of Knuckles when the latter was 10, Locke watched over his son from inside Haven, the stronghold of the Brotherhood of Guardians. Locke ultimately died to save his son from Dr. Finitevus' schemes.
----
* AbusiveParents: He blasted Knuckles' egg with Chaos energy to turn him into a living Chaos Emerald, abandoned his son at the age of 10 and spied on him until their eventual reunion. After the events of Return to Angel Island arc, he effectively disowns Knuckles and tries to blackmail him by threatening his mother's safety. Under Ian's pen, he slowly begins to redeem himself.
* BreakThemByTalking: In ''Enerjak Reborn'' Julie Su and Archimedes call Locke out on his seeming hatred for Knuckles. When he tries to explain that he doesn't hate Knuckles but can't ignore the danger he's become, Archimedes flat out tells him that Knuckles has become ''exactly'' what they were making him into with their training and Locke's experiments, and the real blame for all this lies with them. Julie Su and Archimedes leave to go Sonic and "the guardian we love enough to rescue" while Locke stews over what he's done.
* DependingOnTheWriter: Though many characters were affected by the change in writers having different directions for them, Locke's was pretty distinct. Though a lot of Locke's fundamental traits were the same, the way he approached his duties and Knuckles took on a harsher tone when Flynn took over from Penders. Locke's OmniscientMoralityLicense was criticized much more and gave him an almost antagonistic position to Knuckles and the heroes.
* KilledOffForReal: Died of cancer in the Light Mobius timeline, a result of his earlier genetic experiments. In the regular timeline, he sacrificed himself to break Knuckles' transformation into Enerjak and restore his son to normal.
* LaserGuidedKarma: He ignored Robotnik along with the Brotherhood, as mentioned in their entry. His experiments on Knuckles gave him the potential to gain incredible power. Said potential made Knuckles a target for Dr. Finitevus' "Enerjak Reborn" project, which Locke eventually died to save Knuckles from.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: His experiments on Knuckles allowed his son to reach unparalleled power for a Guardian. This power would later be targeted by Mammoth Mogul, causing a chain of events that led to Knuckles essentially dying, Mammoth Mogul nearly destroying the multiverse, which was stopped by Tails gaining his Titan form. Knuckles came back to life, but exhausted his Chaos powers.
** And as a result of Locke's experiments on his son, Finitevus was warped and twisted by Chaos Energy when he attempted to siphon away said energy from Chaos Knuckles, thanks to outside interference by Charmy and Saffron. Locke was indirectly responsible for Finitevus' rise as a villain, the destruction of Albion and the exiling of the Brotherhood of Guardians.
** Dr. Finitevus convinced him to leave Angel Island under his protection to search for his ancestors, kicking off a series of events that led to the doctor brainwashing Knuckles into becoming the new Enerjak and Locke sacrificing his life to free him.
* PapaWolf: Sacrificed his own life to save Knuckles. Many years prior he and the Brotherhood of Guardians threw Monk the Gorilla, who was bullying Knuckles, off of Angel Island.
* ParentsAsPeople: While he initially had good intentions, Locke manipulated Knuckles from birth to fulfill a prophecy, took him from his mother, and pretended to die so Knuckles could fulfill his role as Guardian. Even after that, it's clear that he sees Knuckles as the Guardian foremost and his son second. He effectively cut ties with Knuckles after he chose to take the fight to Eggman instead of guarding Angel Island and threatens his mother's safety. Locke realizes the errors of his ways during the Enerjak Reborn arc and comes to realize how serious the mistakes he's made are and how badly they've ruined Knuckles' life.
* PutOnABus: Gone after the Penders lawsuit. Even if Penders hadn't created him, being the father of Knuckles (a Sega character) might still have gotten him booted from the reboot continuity.
* UnPerson: According to Ken Penders of all the characters removed, he is one of the three who are truly banned from appearing in the comic.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: The Brotherhood of Guardians]]

A collection of Knuckles' ancestors, including his father Locke and several other ancestors, that protect Angel Island and the city of Echindnaopolis. For most of the book, they chose not to interfere with world events more than they had to, feeling that deploying their advanced technology in an unprepared world would be more harmful than good, allowing Robotnik to operate freely. Eventually, Eggman would advance his own technology enough that, with some assistance from the Dingoes, he eventually stormed and razed Echindnaopolis, slaughtering most of the population. After a final, taxing battle with Eggman's forces, the exhausted Brotherhood was captured by Dr. Finitevus.
----
* EpicFail: Not realizing that the guy who's capable of building giant flying battle stations and apocalyptic doomsday weapons with the intent of enslaving the world and turning it into a lifeless husk, nor his alternate universe counterpart who is even ''more'' vicious, is someone that they should deal with.
* FantasticRacism: They were echidna supremicists and considered the dingos violent savages. As a whole, they considered the other races to be lesser beings.
* FatalFlaw: Their over-reliance on guardian traditions. If they weren't so determined to not get involved in matters outside of their own, they might've been integral in defeating Robotnik. This in turn would've kept the Dingoes and the Dark Legion at bay, which would also have prevented both Chaos Knuckles and Dr. Finitevus.
* {{Hypocrite}}: It's been pointed out that, despite espousing that echidna society should refrain from excess technology, they kept the most advanced equipment to themselves.
* LaserGuidedKarma: As stated, they ignored Robotnik until it was too late; the Ultimate Annihilator helped free the Dark Legion, whose antics resulted in Chaos Knuckles and, indirectly, Dr. Finitevus. Also, their treatment of the Dingoes meant that they JumpedAtTheCall to work with Eggman to get revenge. In the end, battling Eggman's forces to protect the Master Emerald left them exhausted enough to be captured by Dr. Finitevus.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Standard procedure for Guardian training, it started when a past Guardian's son committed a HeroicSacrifice to stop the Dark Legion many years ago. The practice was designed to help the current Guardian-in-training become self-reliant. However, the Guardian-in-training is kept under constant surveillance by the Brotherhood in case of problems they couldn't handle.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: By allowing Robotnik-Prime to run free, the following happened:
** He created [[http://archiesonic.wikia.com/wiki/E.V.E.#Battles_with_Sonic EVE]], who went on to destroy many inhabited worlds across the galaxy before being stopped by Sonic.
** He fired the Ultimate Annihilator, which led to the Dark Legion being released and everything that happened as a result, like Chaos Knuckles and Dr. Finitevus.
*** The UA's firing tipped Robo-Robotnik off that Robotnik-Prime had died, providing a reason to go to Mobius. Robo-Robotnik would become Dr. Eggman and we know how that turned out.
** Heck before the reboot, practically every bad thing could be traced back them in some fashion and a good chuck of the planet's populace are not fans of them due to their indifference and handling of matters.
* NotSoDifferent: In their use of advanced technology and Chaos-Energy derived powers, like the Dark Legion and Enerjak.
* PutOnABus: They were cast into the Twilight Cage (bar Knuckles and Locke) along with Moritori Rex by Dr. Finitevus; not returning due to legal matters.
* ReedRichardsIsUseless: Despite all their resources, they never did a thing to stop Dr. Robotnik, even when he was clearly a threat to them. It was suggested by some of their allies that they ''should'' help their fellow Mobians and help usher in a golden age for the world, but this never happened either. In fact, Sally asked for their help in fighting Dr. Eggman, but they would only do so if she agreed to the use of their most advanced weapons, implied to be nuclear weapons. Since she couldn't agree to that, they turned her down. Deconstructed because by letting Eggman go for so long, he ended up closing the tech gap enough to attack them directly and wiped out much of the echidna population.
* SuicidalOverconfidence: Robotnik Prime had, before Endgame, discovered their island, weaponized it, endangered it indirectly several times, and tried to ram the island into the sea with the first Death Egg. They didn't do anything to stop him, thinking he wasn't a threat to them, taking the same approach with Eggman (who admitted to nuking his own Mobius into oblivion). They also felt that their traditions would see them through, even though they had indication enough that they wouldn't be dealing with just the usual threats like before. To say this backfired is an understatement.
* WouldHarmAChild: They once threw Monk the Gorilla, who was bullying Knuckles, off of Angel Island. Even though they likely had enough options to dispose of him more humanely.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Athair]]

Knuckles' grandfather and an outcast from the Brotherhood. The only member of Knuckles line to forgo becoming a Guardian, opting instead to become a mystic and protect the world from mystic threats along with the Ancient Walkers.
----
* CanonImmigrant: Eventually migrated to ''WesternAnimation/SonicUnderground'', making him one of the few comic-original Sonic characters to appear in other media.
* PutOnABus: Gone after the Penders lawsuit; actually a Micheal Gallagher creation. However being the grandfather of Knuckles (a Sega character) might still have gotten him booted from the reboot continuity.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Unlike the rest of the Guardians, he's more than willing to work outside of the guardians traditions, seeing a much bigger picture than simply Angel Island. He's also willing to aid those outside of echidnas and guardians interest. Its safe to say that he set the first steps for Knuckles CharacterDevelopment in later books. Among other things, he;
** Healed Tails, preparing him for his final battle against Crocbot, and gave him information towards his destiny as TheChosenOne. Much later, he gave Tails and Knuckles advice leading to the sword of acorn.
** Led the lost echidna tribe, guiding them for years until they reached Albion.
** Directly aided Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles when they were banished by Mogul, and provided them with the means to attain super form to combat the villain.

!!!Light Mobius
Alternate future versions of Mobius ten years later. Light as you can imagine is the somewhat good version where civilization still stands albeit just ruled under the tyrannical grip of King Shadow [[spoiler: least till Sonic returns]].

[[folder: Lara-Su]]
[[quoteright:229:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Lara-Su_4470.png]]

The future daughter of Knuckles and Julie-Su seen in the "Mobius: 25/30 Years Later" storyline [[note]]Known as "Light Mobius"[[/note]].

Confusingly, due to some very convoluted TimeTravel plotlines there have been two (or depending on how you count, three) distinct versions of Lara-Su shown in the comic: one affected by time travel, and the other a time traveler herself. For tropes pretaining to her Dark Mobius counterpart, see "Jani-Ca".

She is the second, and better known, version of Lara-Su appears in the "Mobius [X] Years Later" storylines as a would-be successor to her father as the Guardian of the Master Emerald. Initially [[OverprotectiveDad Knuckles resisted letting her take the job]], but ultimately relented. Her reality was re-written due to King Sonic's own tampering with the timeline, but this worked out mostly to her advantage as one of the major changes was that Knuckles allowed her to train as a Guardian much earlier and ascend as a full-blooded ActionGirl.

Both versions of Lara are feisty and hot-tempered, much like her parents, and both ultimately became full-blooded {{Action Girl}}s. However Lara-Su of the "Mobius [X] Years Later" arc seems more peppy and cheerful. As a Guardian, she possesses all of Knuckles' abilities, including {{flight}} and Chaos Control.
----
* ActionGirl: She goes head to head with [[UltimateLifeForm Shadow]]. And wins!
* DistaffCounterpart: Takes a lot after her dad, in [[LamarckWasRight more ways]] [[IdenticalGrandson than]] [[GenerationXerox one.]]
* FieryRedhead: Is she ever!
* PutOnABus: Gone after the Penders lawsuit.
* SoProudOfYou: Gets one from her dad in the MXYL plotline after teaming up with Sonic and Tails.
* UnPerson: According to Ken Penders of all the characters removed, she is one of the three who are truly banned from appearing in the comic.

[[folder: King Sonic]]
[[quoteright:283:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_sonic.png]]
* ButterflyOfDoom: Apparently, Sonic's past actions nearly caused time and space to tear itself apart. Sonic goes back in time to fix it, but ends up completely changing the world, and not exactly for the better.
* CoolOldGuy: Relative to everyone else, King Sonic is this.
* DentedIron: He can still fight but due to his age, he's not as tough as he used to be.
* FeelingTheirAge: While he retains his SuperSpeed and is still a good fighter, he's still in his 40s and thus not as strong as he used to be. Best shown when he takes on Shadow, who's TheAgeless, and gets his ass kicked.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Looks like the same blue blur we all know, but that due to time travel shenanigans which kept him youthful looking. He still aged naturally and by the time of the story is in his 40s.
* ReluctantRuler: In the original timeline, Sonic was having doubts about whether or not he was cut out for the life of being a king.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Despite being in his 40s, Sonic still shows no hesitation about being the first to leap into action.
* [[SlapSlapKiss Yell Yell Kiss]]: Sonic and Sally have one of these moments just before [[spoiler:The Dark Presence Invasion.]]

* PutOnABus: Gone after the Penders lawsuit.
* ShipTease: Implied to be in a relationship with Lara-Su.

[[folder: Belle and Jacques D'Coolette]]

Antoine and Bunnie's future children.
----

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3de131a9f99caa961fa54811a11ae3d7.jpg]]

In the Light Mobius timeline, after Sonic vanished following Dr. Eggman's demise, Shadow rose to power and conquered all of Mobius in one year. He brought his own version of unity and peace to Mobius through brutal law enforcement, with the Dark Presence (formally the Dark Legion) as his enforcers. Sally Acorn married him in an attempt to bring some stability and leniency to his brutal leadership, with very little success.

Things only got worse over the following two decades, as due to his Chaos abilities, Shadow was fully aware of the original timeline, and was determined to keep anyone with lingering memories from trying to restore it. Arresting individuals such as Rotor, Sonic, Tails, and Lara-Su for "treason". His brutal rule came to an end thanks to the efforts of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Lara-Su, who used Chaos Control to place him in suspended animation.

However, five years later, the Dark Presence successfully invaded Castle Mobius and revived the former king from his imprisonment, enraged, Shadow proceeded released Tikhaos upon the world as revenge. While Tikhaos was stopped by the Future Freedom Fighters, what became of Shadow is unknown.
----
* BigBad: Acts as this for the ''[[TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture X Years Later]]'' stories.
* CurbStompBattle: When Sonic fights him in this timeline, Shadow easily smacks him around, as Sonic had aged and gotten weaker while Shadow, being [[{{Immortality}} immortal]], did not. Ironically when Lara-Su took over the battle, she proved to be more then a match for him, beating him in a battle of Chaos Control.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: As with the normal Shadow, he loved Maria, and as King he seemingly deified her. A large angelic statue of her is seen being worshiped, and characters swear by her as they would a religious figure.
* PutOnABus: Gone after the Penders lawsuit; actually an Ian Flynn creation.
* RepressiveButEfficient: It's noted that while Shadow's regime was brutal, it still brought peace and stability to all of Mobius.
-->'''Knuckles''': Things may have been bad under King Shadow, but at least he knew how to keep the warmongers in line.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Shadow took over the world in order to [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans bring peace to it.]] After being sealed away for five years thanks to Lara-Su, he unleashes Tikhaos and super-charges her with Chaos Energy to destroy the world, so the survivors would once again accept King Shadow's rule.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: After he release Tikhaos, he just sorta disappears from the story and isn't seen again. Most likely this was meant as a SequelHook for a future "X Years" issue. But the lawsuit nixed those plans.

[[caption-width-right:350:As Enerjak]]

The future daughter of Knuckles and Julie-Su seen in the "Fractured Mirror" arc of ''Sonic Universe''[[note]]Known as "Dark Mobius"[[/note]].

Confusingly, due to some very convoluted TimeTravel plotlines there have been two (or depending on how you count, three) distinct versions of Lara-Su shown in the comic: one affected by time travel, and the other a time traveler herself. For tropes pretaining to her Light Mobius counterpart, see "Lara-Su".

Tecnically the first version of Lara-Su shown in the comic. She had gone back in time attempting to SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong by rescuing her father from an assassination attempt that had led to her growing up in a a BadFuture, only to find that Knuckles had never died and in fact had been the ''cause'' of the BadFuture. This instance of Lara's personality introduced herself as "Jani-Ca" and was dropped from the comic after her introduction, not getting a full resolution to her plotline until the "Fractured Mirror" storyline in ''Sonic Universe'', where she is shown as the battle-hardened leader of the last remaining Freedom Fighters.

Both versions of Lara are feisty and hot-tempered, much like her parents, and both ultimately became full-blooded {{Action Girl}}s. However Jani-Ca's personality became noticeably more brittle and jaded as a result of having grown up in a BadFuture ruled over by [[ArchnemesisDad her own father]] as the BigBad,
----
* ActionGirl: She is forced to continually contend with the likes of [[PhysicalGod Enerjak]].
* ArchnemesisDad: Dark Enerjak is this for Jani-Ca.
* CoolSword: She wields the Sword of Acorns. [[spoiler:After she uses it to absorb Enerjak's energy, however, she shatters it.]]
* FutureBadass: While her Light Mobius counterpart is a spirited ActionGirl, Jani-Ca is [[DarkerAndEdgier gritty and tough-as-nails]] to the point she makes her counterpart seem like a GranolaGirl in comparison. This was {{lampshaded}} in an Off-Panel strip.
* KidFromTheFuture: At one point, she travels back to the past, giving her name as "Jani-Ca." She later takes on that alias backin her own time.
* SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong: She tries, but not being informed as to what needed fixing in the first place, she doesn't do so hot. [[FailureHero Silver]] relates to this frustration very well.
* UnPerson: According to Ken Penders of all the characters removed, she is one of the three who are truly banned from appearing in the comic.
* WomenAreWiser: Unlike Dimitri and Knuckles, Jani-Ca retained her sane state of mind after transforming into Enerjak, and is implied to be smart enough to dispose of her powers after she briefly utilizes them, solely for ([[KnightTemplar genuinely]]) benevolent purposes.

[[caption-width-right:350:De-powered]]

A version of Knuckles from Dark Mobius who went mad with power after becoming Enerjak.
----
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: This version has gone so insane with power that nobody on the planet wants him around, and none of them can still do anything to stop him regardless.
* AGodAmI: Naturally, as Enerjak.
* BigNo: [[spoiler:When the Sword of Acorns is smashed by Jani-Ca, preventing Knuckles from taking back Enerjak's power from her.]]
* EvilCounterpart: To Knuckles, much more than his Moebius Counterpart; most notably to Knuckles time as Enerjak. When Prime Knuckles became Enerjak he was mind-controlled but still his Enerjak almost had a nobility to him as he tried to save his people and the Dark Legion (for better or worse). Dark Knuckles has a selfishness to his beliefs and the future he wants to form is born from that self righteous desire rather than Prime Knuckles Enerjak's warped but genuine one.
* TheJuggernaut: While this trope could be applied to the Proime version as well, this incarnation fits it the best. He turned evil and alienated anybody who was on his side, but even with that nothing on his planet for decades could stop him. In his fight with Silver, he [[NoSell No Sells]] everything thrown at him, with the best Silver can do is make him mad. [[spoiler: He's only stopped by his own daughter using the Sword of Acrons to drain his power.]]
* HeroKiller: This incarnation had already beaten every hero and villain from the main stories (including Super Sonic), the Freedom Fighters in that timeline were only still alive because he was bored and let them live for his amusement.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Silver realizes Dark Knuckles has been all powerful because all his adversaries have been trying to match their power against his which he can easily counter against. So Silver uses Dark Knuckles' own power against him which sure enough damages him.
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler: He forces Jani-Ca to fight the Prelate of her own mother Juli-Su.]]
* KnightTemplar: ''Much'' less of a WellIntentionedExtremist than his Prime Counterpart.
* PhysicalGod: This ersion is in fact Chaos Knuckles with ''full mastery of his powers''.
* PutOnABus: Gone after the Penders lawsuit.
* SmugSnake: Dark Enerjak is even more smug than the original version since he's had the entire planet to torment with nothing to stop him.
* UnskilledButStrong: When Silver fights this incarnation, he matches him blow-for-blow in terms of raw power, and when he starts using strategy in conjunction, Enerjak can't adapt and ultimately loses.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: He was our lovable doofus, Knuckles, a long time ago. Now...not so much.
* YourSoulIsMine: He can pull out the core of a person and reshape it into artificial warriors called Prelates with no emotions to fight for him. Even if they're slain, all he needs to do is re-collect the core and remake them.

!!!Argentium

A planet in the shape of a ring. It's unique gravity allows for life, cities, forests, oceans, etc. to form on its inner and outer perimeter. It is the home-world of the BEM, a four-armed race of scientists.

[[folder: BEM]]

The dominant race on Argentium. The BEM are scientists famed across the universe for their resources and ingenuity. Their actions on Mobius lead to far reaching consequences.
----
* AlienNonInterferenceClause: After a disastrous attempt at saving a species resulting in its extinction, the BEM have adopted this mindset, although it is contested within their ranks.
* BaldWomen: The BEM are all hairless green humanoid alien women.
* [[BarefootCartoonAnimal Barefoot Cartoon Alien]]: Apparently the BEMS DoNotLikeShoes.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: A Downplayed example especially because InUniverse the BEM leadership has disagreements not only on what's right but if it's up to them to impose their ideas of right on other species. Their handling of roboticization is a major one. Their actions on Biotex where the population was de-roboticized was one that the government took issue with as it resulted in mass death. However when they examined Mobius and saw the superiority of Robians they decided that the population should be roboticized. Their focus was on whether the procedure would cause a greater benefit rather than if the species wanted it.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: BEM are four-armed.
* OneGenderRace: All BEM are female.

[[folder: Ceneca-9009]]

A BEM scientist with a focus on roboticization. She discovered a society, on the planet Biotex, many years ago that had turned themselves robotic. Her well-intentioned but naive attempts to reverse the process lead to the species' extinction and since then her attempts to correct her mistakes have had mixed results.
----
* TheAtoner: She believed that the Biotexians, a race who'd turned themselves into robots were in trouble and labored half a century to find a cure. In converting them back to organics, they're bodies were unable to handle the polluted atmosphere as the roboticization was actually part of their alien evolution to adapt to the planet. The whole race died before Ceneca-9009 could correct her mistake and since then she's wanted to use her technology to rectify her mistake. This is why she returned the Robians of Knothole to their original Mobian state.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Ceneca-9009 was only in a few issues, but it was she who saved Tails's parents, turned Eggman and Snively back into organics, and de-roboticized almost all of the Mobians.
* UnwillingRoboticisation: Inverted. Ceneca-9009's studies are to deroboticize organic creatures, but unfortunately she's done it to many against their will, to disastrous consequences. She's also demonstrated the know how to roboticize organics, having done it to Sonic and the Freedom Fighters once.

Naturally he get's caught up with whatever shenanigans the Chaotix get up to.
----
* TheEveryman: Harry is for the most part just an ordinary working class guy. He has no special abilities like other Mobians nor any significant combat skill like the Dingoes.
* TheFaceless: After Kage discovered his betrayal he did "something" to Harry that was incredibly painful and disfiguring. The audience never really sees his face after that, he wears a hood and his face is in shadow. Only his snout is visible and a scar can be seen running down it; the wrappings on his hands are implied to be bandages for his wounds.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Harry is cynical and jaded but never malicious. His debut was him happening upon two strangers (Charmy and Mellow) and rushing them to the hospital when they took ill.
* TheMole: When Eggman conquers Angel Island he appoints Kage as his sub-boss and a regime of Dingoes as overseers. Harry is revealed to have joined them and then revealed to be a double agent, assisting the Echidna/Dark Legion resistance.

* BigGood: The fact that she realizes what's going on with the Shattered World Crisis seems to lead her to be this.

* RealityEnsues:

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Unlike the rest of the Guardians, he's more than willing to work outside of the guardians traditions, seeing a much bigger picture than simply Angel Island. He's also willing to aid those outside of echidnas and guardians interest. Its safe to say that he set the first steps for Knuckles CharacterDevelopment in later books. Among other things, he;
** Healed Tails, preparing him for his final battle against Crocbot, and gave him information towards his destiny as TheChosenOne.

** Scarlette Rabbot: Bunnie Rabbot
** Dagger Walrus: Rotor Walrus
** Payback Fox: Fiona Fox

* PutOnABus: thanks to the Penders Lawsuit, there's no hope for their return due to how closely tied they are to Jani-Ca.

* AGodAmI: Naturally, as Enerjak.

* MultiArmedAndDangerous: BEM are four-armed.
* OneGenderRace: All BEM are female.

[[folder: Ceneca-9009]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ceneca_9009.png]]

[[folder: Harry]]
A Dingo in the Dingo Regime. Harry was born into military service but never really fell into step with the others of his militant upbringing. When the Dingoes are freed from the pocket-dimmension and forced to settle in Echidnopolis, Harry is willing to settle down as a Cabbie and live a normal life.
