[[folder: Round 1 Characters]]

!![[Manga/FateKaleidLinerPrismaIllya Angelica Ainsworth]]
!!!Champion of Counterfeits

-->"If you have nothing of value to add, stop wasting my time and clean up the mess you've made."

[[spoiler: The victim of Week 2 (Case 2).]]

* AlliterativeName: Though she doesn't use her surname [[spoiler:due to her family making her into a tool]], it's listed in full on the profiles.
* ArtificialHuman: Her species is listed as "doll."
* CompetitionFreak: She takes the dodgeball game ''very'' seriously.
* TheCynic: She despises optimism and idealism and automatically thinks everything will end in murder.
* GirlishPigtails: One of many twintailed characters this round.
* GreetingGestureConfusion: Doesn't know what a fistbump is.
* IdenticalStranger: Angelica is nicer to Ricky than to most people, and she looks like an older version of Ricky, even though they're the same age.
* NinjaMaid: Describes herself as "the Ainsworth family's first line of defence."
* ShesGotLegs: This is mentioned about her a few times, particularly when she's wearing the frilly dress.

!![[VisualNovel/{{Danganronpa}} Byakuya Togami]]
!!!Champion Survivor

-->"...why do things like 'bonds' and 'trying to keep people from fighting' keep tripping me up after so long...?"

[[spoiler: Made it to the survivor pool.]]

* AristocratsAreEvil: More of a jerk than outright evil, but still.
* BastardBastard: A lot of his selfishness and condescension most likely comes from competition with his massive number of half-siblings, which he tells everyone about later on.
* BlueBlood: He comes from a rich and powerful family and takes a lot of pride in it.
* CompassionateCritic: Starts to turn into this when he becomes nicer, since he's still a jerk.
* ComplexityAddiction: Togami likes to needlessly complicate things, thinking it keeps himself safe. A major example is the SecretTest hidden in his long, written-out family history with a SchmuckBait label.
* {{Determinator}}: You can say a lot about Togami, but you can't deny that he digs his heels in and fights for what he wants.
-->"I didn't survive all these years by running away from danger, if that's what you're asking."
* ExperiencedProtagonist: The only one who's been in a DeadlyGame before.
* IneffectualLoner: His experience leads him to close himself off and drive people away, only to remember that unity and trust are what's needed to survive. Even Temerity calls him on it!
* LastNameBasis: Called "Togami" by everyone, even the narration.
* MysteryMagnet: Those who uncover Togami's past end up deciding he's one of these and a murdergame magnet in particular.
* NonUniformUniform: Started the trend of wearing bedsheet togas over the jumpsuit.
* ProperlyParanoid: Togami can't trust anyone and sows discord among the group by positing that one of them is a traitor. Harsh, but he ''has'' been through this once before.
* TheProudElite: Stuck-up and proud of his fortune, [[spoiler:even if he knows from the beginning now that none of it matters [[AfterTheEnd anymore]]]]. It fuels a rivalry with Jane, a much nicer and more down-to-earth heiress.
* RulesLawyer: Has memorized the rules and can cite them on command to provoke people into punishment or have them left alone. Of course, sometimes he omits pieces to assure people that they'll be fine when they won't.

!![[Literature/{{Hyouka}} Chitanda Eru]]
!!!Champion of Curiosity

-->"I'm good at finding all of the pieces of the puzzle. I know how all of the parts work and what they all are. But I'm not very good at actually putting them all together."

[[spoiler: The victim of Week 1 (Case 1).]]

* HundredPercentAdorationRating: Everyone but the heartless Seth finds Chitanda lovable and worthy of protection. [[spoiler:Toby killed her by ''mistake,'' wanting to target someone else.]]
* ConstantlyCurious: Her title references this and she's awed by others' stories of their worlds.
* TheCutie: A young, {{moe}} girl everyone immediately wants to protect.
* IJustWantToBeBadass: Chitanda gets Lightning to train her so she won't be an easy target.
* LastNameBasis: Nearly everyone calls her Chitanda, and her name is the only one listed in Eastern order on the profiles, even though there are others whose names could be listed that way.
* MoeStare: Chitanda's default expression.
* MoralityPet: To Lightning, before Lightning starts to defrost around the others [[spoiler:and Chitanda's no longer there]].
* ShipperOnDeck: Chitanda wants Lightning and Xander to get together.
* SmittenTeenageGirl: Just ask her about her crush back home.
* WideEyedIdealist: She really thought they could all get out without worry.

!!!Champion of Suspended Animation

-->"Most of the time, I'm not even thinking about the danger. I just think, 'what do we need to do to get through this?'"

[[spoiler: One of the victims of Week 5 (Case 5).]]

* BucketHelmet: Ricky wears a pot on her head before replacing it with a football helmet.
* TheConfidant: The first person Kurumi tells her secret to.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Nearly all her abilities rely on [[TheGunslinger guns]], which she doesn't have access to here. Ironically she's a JackOfAllTrades when she's armed.
* GirlishPigtails: Hers are lower down than Kurumi's or Angelica's.
* HumanPopsicle: It's right there in her title. Technically, she's over 1,000 years old.
* IdenticalStranger: Looks like a younger Angelica.
* IDontKnowMortalKombat: Ricky is often found playing the zombie-shooting game and seeing if she can be good at it just because she can shoot in real life. Her failing at it [[spoiler:foreshadows her death at the hands of ZombieInfectee Kurumi]].
* ImprovisedArmour: Aside from the aforementioned BucketHelmet, she carries a pot lid "shield."
* OlderThanTheyLook: Not to [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld the extent suggested by her profile]] (which counts her time spent in suspended animation), but she's still a purported adult who looks like a kid.
* TomboyishName: Her nickname, Ricky.
* WrongGenreSavvy: Downplayed somewhat, as she ''does'' understand what kind of situation they're all in, but she could probably stand to be reminded that she isn't in a DungeonCrawler anymore, so there's no reason to [[TooAwesomeToUse hoard consumable regains]] or redundantly map out the station, "protective" items are only useful if they provide actual protection, and there's nowhere to [[VendorTrash sell those feathers she's collecting]].

!![[Webcomic/{{Homestuck}} Jane Crocker]]
!!!Champion Heiress

-->"If the Maid of Life can't bring anyone back, she can at least keep anyone else from leaving with all of her might."

[[spoiler: Made it to the survivor pool.]]

* AmnesiacGod: Much like Lightning, she's forgotten achieving God Tier or even what that means.
* AntiquatedLinguistics: Her speech is about a century out of place from where she's actually from. It's how she understands Thomasin more easily.
* BadassMustache: Jane likes to wear fake mustaches to be silly. Fun fake-mustache prints were a fashion trend in late 2011, which is when she first left Earth, and she's always liked the idea of the distinguished gentleman. As the game goes on, she takes an active role and becomes closer to being TheHero than [[DecoyProtagonist she ever got to be in canon]].
* BrokenPedestal: As she regains her memories, Jane realizes that the ancestor whose legacy she did her best to live up to really was as evil as her "weird" friends used to say.
* CovertPervert: Very aware of how much the supplied jumpsuits shows off the bodies of her fellow Champions, falling in line with [[FemaleGaze some of her observations]] in canon.
* EveryScarHasAStory: Jane can't remember where she got any of hers, but over time, starts to recall each one from her injuries in Sburb.
* FunnySpoon: Her WeaponOfChoice, actually.
* GirlsWithMustaches: She likes to wear fake ones.
* GoshDangItToHeck: With a side of CurseOfTheAncients, since she's a time-switched, reality-reset AlternateSelf of an old lady who talked like this.
* HardBoiledDetective: Aspires to be one, and is the main similarity between her and [[Literature/{{Hyouka}} Chitanda Eru]] that bonds them in friendship and inspires them to start a joint detective agency with Xander as their secretary. [[spoiler: After Chitanda's murder, she carries on the agency in memoriam.]]
* HollywoodPudgy: Jane is a bit above average weight for her height and age but, in canon, is depicted with a range of body types and most often as a generic sprite.
* KnifeNut: While she does switch her WeaponOfChoice to knives, she's still a lot more grounded than most of these.
* {{Meganekko}}: A cute, intelligent glasses-wearing girl.
* OutdatedName: Which makes sense, because she was basically born from a time paradox and it matches how she talks.
* PrecociousCrush: She's a little prone to these, being initially attracted to Xander before he started seeming too much like a dad, then [[spoiler:her black crush on Togami flipping to red (he's 21 and she's 16)]].
* PrinceOfPranksters: Jane is usually a harmless prankster, but some of her antics can get annoying to others (like the Salt and Pepper Diner) and, when she's trapped with her SitcomArchNemesis, she drives him up the wall with pratfalls and obnoxious music set to elaborate traps. She takes a lot of pride in her accomplishments.
* SarcasmMode: Jane slides into this a lot if she gets into an argument.
-->"Oh, ''no,'' Mister Togami, I insist, ''lead'' us by way of your impeccable example to sift through pretzels and Tang, it would be an ''honour.''
* SkilledButNaive: She's always wanted to be a detective and built her skills solving fictional murders, which makes her a big help in the trials. Still, Jane acknowledges that she was nowhere near prepared to deal with ''real'' murders, and the trials take a huge, visible emotional toll on her.
* SkirtOverSlacks: Between the sewing room opening up and regaining her shirt, she usually wears a janky handmade skirt over her bodysuit.
* SupremeChef: As heir to a baking empire, while she can make realistic mistakes, she's ''very'' accomplished.
* TaughtByTelevision: Her aptitude at solving mysteries. However, while her interest in mystery fiction does make her good at it in real life, the real consequences scar her badly and put her off her former interest in fictional mysteries.
* TeamChef: She would ''like'' to be this, but the ubiquity of premade food keeps thwarting her.
* TheTeamNormal: Subverted. She thinks she's this, but starts to learn that her life is more messed-up than anyone's.
* TrueBlueFemininity: Associated with cyan, to offset the MegaCorp she's set to inherit, which is associated with bright red.
* WeaponOfChoice: Initially spoons and forks. [[spoiler:After she regains enough memories, anything associated with Betty Crocker is tainted to her, and she switches to Lightning's knife instead.]]

!![[Manga/GakkouGurashi Kurumi Ebisuzawa]]
!!!Champion of Inoculation

-->"I have every right to be angry."

[[spoiler: One of the victims (and culprits) of Week 5 (Case 5).]]

* BadassAdorable: She likes to train and is always wary of danger, but she's still darn cute.
* BiTheWay: Kurumi has a crush on Xander, which is unrequited, and then ends up falling for Ricky.
* DeadManWalking: [[spoiler:Part of her secret, and the part she kills for, is that her medication is only a temporary solution and she's bound to become a zombie.]]
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:For killing Ricky, especially by the victim herself, who even gets over dying via DeadlyHug to cling onto Kurumi when they meet again in deadland.]]
* EvilIsDeathlyCold: Subverted. She's constantly unnaturally cold, but is actually a good person.
* GirlishPigtails: A hint that Kurumi is still just a normal teenager in a bad situation.
* GirlyBruiser: A cute girl who's TheBigGuy in her own group back home and still feels vulnerable when she can't bash enemies with a shovel.
* HairDecorations: She wears cute pink-purple ribbons.
* IrrationalHatred: Kurumi has a few anger issues and misblames Ricky for a death that was at best tangentially related to something made for her for non-murder-related purposes. While she gets past this and even falls in love with Ricky [[spoiler:(but murders her in cold blood after confessing her feelings anyway, to save her friend's sanity)]], Kurumi does it again in week 5, burning Bolton's books just to hurt him after a motive comes down... that Bolton wasn't the one to hand out.
* WeaponOfChoice: Hers, a shovel, is mentioned on her profile.
* ZombieInfectee: Kurumi's secret, which she confesses to a spare few close people, is that she's been bitten. She takes medicine to fight it off, provided regularly by the Benefactors.

!!!Champion Sister

-->"This body is my own. No secrets, no tricks. I am who I've always been, even if I'm not truly human anymore."

[[spoiler: One of the culprits of Week 5 (Case 5).]]

* AffectionateNickname: Her closest CR gets to call her "Light."
* TheAloner: [[spoiler:Halfway into the game, she remembers becoming a PhysicalGod and having to cut herself off from people. Lightning doesn't want to go back to that, but sees no other choice. She warms up to connections again later, though, even if it turns out to be the reason she becomes a culprit.]]
* AmnesiacGod: Since her assumed canon point is the very start of the first game, she thinks at first that she's a normal person.
* BigSisterInstinct: Towards the younger characters, Chitanda in particular.
* BigSisterMentor: Lightning acts like this to a number of other characters, whom she starts to teach how to defend themselves.
* BootsOfToughness: She can even use them to crush a lemon under her heel.
* CatsAreSnarkers: Probably one reason she regains a catgirl costume.
* DefrostingIceQueen: After the first week, she remembers making friends and becomes less closed off.
* DivineDate: To Xander, once she remembers becoming a PhysicalGod.
* DoNotCallMePaul: Doesn't go by her original name and won't even let anyone call her [[AffectionateNickname "Light"]] until they're extremely close to her.
* HeartbrokenBadass: Her initial canonpoint is at the beginning of the first game, and she's full of regrets for her sister.
* ICantDance: She refuses to out of embarrassment.
* KnightInSourArmour: Lightning acknowledges that it's a good thing to try and protect everyone and she'll put in the effort, she just doesn't think it's possible and will say so. This positions her as a {{foil}} to both Yurika, who, despite having seen and [[ShootTheDog had to do]] awful things, still has an optimistic outlook, and Seth, who's SeenItAll and decided that there's no point in being anything but cruel and cynical (at least that's what he says his rationale is).
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: Hers is gone, and she can't remember why at first.
* MyGreatestSecondChance: Lightning decides that, even if she can't protect everyone, she'll keep Chitanda safe like she failed to do for Serah. [[spoiler:Sadly, it doesn't work.]]
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: She changed her name to "Lightning" to invoke this when she wanted to become strong.
* NumberTwo: Jamie seems to have her pegged as Xander's second-in-command.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Finds the skimpy catgirl outfit just as acceptable as her more normal clothes and doesn't even get embarrassed.
* SourOutsideSadInside: She's cynical and hates a lot of things, but chief among those is herself.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Chitanda reminds her of her sister, Serah.

!!!Champion Flaming Swordsman

-->"Obviously, this course of action has a high risk, but going into it with an assumption of dying helplessly won't do any of us any favors."

[[spoiler: The victim of Week 3 (Case 3).]]

* AnimeCatholicism: Well, Futuristic Catholicism with shades of this.
* BadassGay: Though extremely repressed.
* BloodKnight: Margulis only seems to have fun when he's fighting.
* CombatPragmatist: Says that no one will come for him because the cause in the war back home is more important than rescuing one person. [[spoiler:He also tries to sacrifice everyone for TheNeedsOfTheMany.]]
* DoubleSpeak: Margulis is prone to this, given the subterfuge of his job. How he knowingly speaks with hidden meanings all the time, [[spoiler:especially with the subtlety of his dying letters and the slight difference between [=McBurn's=] and the others']], and yet misses all the InnocentInnuendo he says is a mystery for the ages.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has a scar across his eye. [[spoiler:When they first meet in deadland, Max]] tells Margulis that the scar on his face makes him look like a kids' show's villain.
* LastNameBasis: Margulis has this with everyone. He also goes by his last name and not even the PIP gives his full name.
* NotAfraidToDie: To the point that [[spoiler:he actually plans his own death]], and he goes into trials confidently every time.
** Turns into a full blown DeathSeeker after his second memory regain, as his [[spoiler:confession letter says that even if he'd escaped the station, he only would've gone on to face the other person worthy of killing him.]]
* OnlyOneName: His first name is never given.
* SpiritedCompetitor: Loves the thrill of fighting and wants a strong opponent to "satisfy" him, which easily fuels the ShipTease between Margulis and [=McBurn=].
* TryingToCatchMeFightingDirty: While Margulis is a NobleTopEnforcer to an extent, he pulls out things like punching [=McBurn=] in the face and breaking his glasses because [=McBurn=] actually ''likes'' that kind of thing.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Due to sharing a space station with people like Seth and [=McBurn=], plus the immediate threat of the Overseers and Benefactors. Coming off as a good guy is simple in comparison.
* YouRemindMeOfX: [=McBurn=] reminds Margulis of an associate he always had to keep in line back home.

!![[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsOfColdSteel [=McBurn=]]]
!!!Champion Inferno

-->"Oh, there's very little that won't burn eventually."

[[spoiler: The culprit of Week 3 (Case 3).]]

* BloodKnight: Not only does his laziness suddenly vanish when he's fighting, but he also really enjoys himself... in more ways than one.
* BrilliantButLazy: Tends to be lazy to the point of even falling asleep out of boredom. Turns out he's incredibly skilled at combat. Sometimes it even seems like the laziness is an act, though why he'd do this is certainly a mystery.
* CombatSadomasochist: [=McBurn=] likes pain and laughs off punishments, weirding out everyone else in the room.
* {{Dismotivation}}: He'll only actually do anything if he thinks it's going to be fun.
* EvilIsHammy: Plays up his reactions to everything. Boredom leads to falling asleep standing and team sports make him a LaughingMad BloodKnight.
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Between him and Seth, it might be a trend.
* JerkassFacade: In his case it's because he suppresses his emotions.
* LackOfEmpathy: He doesn't care about anyone else. [[spoiler: Subverted, it turned out he actually has EmotionalPowers that turn him into a sadistic killer.]]
* MarkedChange: In his demon form markings that look like flames appear all over his body. He also gains BlackEyesOfCrazy.
* MulticolouredHair: [=McBurn=] says it's natural. Everyone else would really like for him not to prove it. [[spoiler: On top of this, his hair will do a PowerUpFullColorChange.]]
* OnlyOneName: It's probably not his real one, either.
* PlayingWithFire: He's often seen playing around with a fireball.
* PsychoPartyMember: [=McBurn=] crafts his own image as one of these to keep the others at arm's length.
* {{Pyromaniac}}: Others start to suspect this of him, given how much he loves his fire powers.
* TheSlacker: Plays this up to annoy people and keep from having to do any work.
* SmugSuper: He brags about his rare, usually much more powerful flame abilities.
* StevenUlyssesPerhero: He has (nerfed) flame powers and he's called [=McBurn=].
* TooKinkyToTorture: The others assume this about him after he actually likes being punished for falling asleep. This is made even worse with his tendency for fire-related innuendo.
* {{Troll}}: He admits to Bolton that he just wants to see how much he can get away with.
* WillfullyWeak: He has to hold back a ''lot'' should anyone actually want to spar with him.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Margulis reminds him of one of his fellow enforcers and Xander reminds him of another Ouroboros member he's currently working with.

!![[VisualNovel/UminekoWhenTheyCry Natsuhi Ushiromiya]]
!!!Champion of Pride

-->"No. I'm tired of nonsense, this can't continue anymore."

[[spoiler: Made it to the survivor pool.]]

* BlindWithoutEm: Natsuhi has poor vision and only regains her glasses late. She rarely wore them at home, anyway, either, to keep up her image.
* BornUnlucky: The TraumaCongaLine she went through back home is [[GroundhogDayLoop one of many]], and she always ends up with the short end of the stick in the space station too, even with little things like getting covered in glitter multiple times or being stuck on her least favourite floor during the lockdown.
* ClassyCravat: Has one on a dress she regains.
* FamilyHonor: The reason Natsuhi is fixated on keeping up appearances.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Her major clothing regain is a purple dress, and she devotes a lot of time and energy to looking like a perfect lady.
* HairTriggerTemper: Snaps and screams when she hears that she's "trying" to be a ProperLady and interprets it as "not succeeding."
* HappilyMarried: As frustrated as she can be with her husband and as much as she resented being essentially forced into an ArrangedMarriage, Natsuhi still talks about him and their daughter fondly.
* {{Housewife}}: Her listed occupation, though she's also rich and has servants.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Natsuhi never asked to be TrappedInAnotherWorld, learn that magic existed, and be surrounded by all these weirdos. She often complains that it makes her head hurt.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: Her husband frittered away a lot of their money on things like space tourism, and while she was in the running for a large inheritance, she doesn't get that either.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Unintentionally in regards to Temerity's existence. She couldn't be bothered to look at Temerity's messages, since she refused to take part in things like surveys, and everyone else assumed that she knew about them.
* LonerTurnedFriend: While Natsuhi is still distrusting and insular, [[spoiler:she's the one to stand up and unite everyone to save Xander, even if she doesn't know or care much for Temerity.]]
* MotherlySidePlait: Her hair evokes this, but in a tight ponytail instead to symbolize her strictness. [[spoiler:Fittingly, she expresses worry over her family, but is too proud to admit it until she's cornered and she remembers [[KillEmAll what kind of series she came from]].]]
* MulticolouredHair: Has a gradient of different shades of brown to red-brown.
* TheProudElite: It's in her title.
* RobotBuddy: Natsuhi isn't one herself, of course, but she has one: Stabby, the robot vacuum cleaner.
* SevenDeadlySins: Associated with Pride in canon and in-game with her title.
* SkepticNoLonger: Reluctantly, and even when she does stop questioning all the weirdness, she's not happy about it.
* TheTeamNormal: Natsuhi is ''way'' out of her element and is constantly weirded out at all this futuristic and supernatural stuff.
* TheyreCalledPersonalIssuesForAReason: Natsuhi develops a reputation for being a private person, keeping her past to herself and viewing attempts to get to know her as suspicious and intrusive.
* YamatoNadeshiko: What she strives to be.

!![[Franchise/{{Bleach}} Rukia Kuchiki]]
!!!Champion of Winter

-->"If we leave them with our companions, our hearts will live on inside of them."

[[spoiler: The culprit of Week 4 (Case 4).]]

* BunniesForCuteness: She (poorly) draws diagrams that represent everyone with bunnies.
* CompetitionFreak: Rukia takes the dodgeball game very seriously, more than most.
* AnIcePerson: The rationale for her title.
* ImmortalImmaturity: Acts the age she looks, despite being far older.
* {{Psychopomp}}: The meaning of Rukia's occupation.
* RankUp: Her profile lists her at a higher rank than she remembers, indicating that this happened in her lost memories.
* TeensAreShort: Significantly smaller than the adults on the station.
* TerribleArtist: Though she thinks she's great.

!![[Series/ScreamQueens Sadie Swenson]]
!!!Champion of Detachment

-->"I'm full of surprises."

[[spoiler: Punished during Week 3.]]

* AlliterativeName: Her real one, though "Sadie" is likely short for "Mercedes" anyway.
* TheBeautifulElite: Chanel #3 is rich, successful, and conventionally beautiful.
* EmotionlessGirl: Though she covers it up with being shallow.
* HardDrinkingPartyGirl: Sadie likes wild parties and sees [[spoiler:deadland as one big BeachEpisode]].
* LazyBum: Because she just doesn't care about anything.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: "Sadie Swenson" is only on the profiles. She goes by "Chanel #3."
* PreppyName: Both her real and used names.
* PublicExposure: Her only reaction to Seth's paintings is that she's never been painted ''clothed'' before.
* RichBitch: She's never heard of tact, kindness, or being a decent person.
* SunglassesAtNight: #3 seeks out sunglasses to wear even if there isn't any sun.
* YouAreNumberSix: Her nickname, "Chanel #3."

!![[Franchise/EvilliousChronicles Seth Twiright]]
!!!Champion [[RougeAnglesOfSatin Serpant]]

-->"Feelings are complicated. It's why I'm glad I don't have them."

[[spoiler: The culprit of Week 2 (Case 2).]]

* BrutalHonesty: He'll tell everyone to their faces that he doesn't mind being trapped, doesn't care about their worries, and thinks they all can and will kill with the right motive.
* TheCoroner: Takes this role during investigations.
* DevilInDisguise: [[spoiler:He's the Demon of Wrath and thus has the FanNickname "Literally {{Satan}}." This is referenced with a number of the characters calling him that in and after his trial.]]
* DissonantSerenity: When he loses people he was actually interested in, his regular uncaring scientist persona is overlaid with cold malice and, still as calm as ever, he seeks to ''purposely'' upset and offend people, not just do it as a side effect to his SkewedPriorities and BrutalHonesty.
* EvilLaugh: Seth's laugh is always creeping the others out.
* EvilMask: [[spoiler:He doesn't ''have'' one, he ''is'' one.]]
* ForScience: He actually seems ''happy'' to be kidnapped, because it's something to study.
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Possibly literally, on that second part.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Most of the Champions begrudgingly work with him and trash-talk him while hoping he might be [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold better than he seems]]. [[spoiler:Come his death, Seth fully falls into this role. People mess with his mask form, insult him to his face, and use him as centipede bait, but still at least keep him around to begin with. He's just amused by the whole thing.]]
* HealthCareMotivation: As he tells the Doctor, Seth's world has a horrible disease that affects the AnatomyOfTheSoul and his children carry it. [[spoiler:It's not exactly his motive to ''save'' them, though, even if he implies it is. Actually, he himself is the disease.]]
* JerkassFacade: Subverted. Some of the other Champions suspect that he's trying to push them away to keep from gaining attachments. No, he really is that bad.
* MadScientist: The Doctor calls Seth one of these because he actually likes the space station and puts his fascination over others' worry.
* OmnidisciplinaryScientist: While he specializes in variable memory and alternate worlds, he claims to work a little in everything.
* PsychoticSmirk: He's sometimes depicted with one of these, especially [[spoiler:during his MTB in the second trial]].
* RedBaron: Seth's title of "Serpent" is one of these.
* SevenDeadlySins: Associated with Wrath in-canon, and he's ''terrifying'' when he's angry.
* SnakesAreSinister: "Serpent" is his title and he's not exactly the ''nicest'' person in the world.
* VirtueIsWeakness: Seth says this is his view of reality, since his own home is a CrapsackWorld.

!![[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog Shadow Hedgehog]]
!!!Champion of Promises

-->"Not everyone's cut out to suddenly live in a space station with eccentric strangers."

[[spoiler: The victim of Week 4 (Case 4).]]

* TheAgeless: He's probably going to be a teenager for a very long time, if he lives.
* ArbitrarySkepticism: Despite being the TropeNamer for UltimateLifeForm and having seen a ''lot'' of weird things, Shadow is still skeptical about Margulis's suspicion that the paintings are cursed.
* ConjoinedEyes: Look at him.
* DoubleThink: Both the likes and dislikes on his profile list his rival from home.
* EmoTeen: Basically one, especially given his age with the [[HumanPopsicle suspended animation]] removed.
* InASingleBound: Shadow can easily jump above his own height.
* MulticolouredHair: Fur, actually.
* PerpetualFrowner: Shadow tries to look serious and never actually smiles.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: He's smaller than the humans, but easily able to take them on.
* PowerLimiters: His have been removed, yet he's ''weaker'' than before, thanks to everyone's {{nerf}}ing.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Averts it due to his canon point, but was initially this before [[HeelFaceTurn things happened]].
* SpellMyNameWithAThe: Averted by the profiles, which remove it.

!![[Series/DoctorWho The Doctor]]
!!!Champion of Earth

-->"Everybody lives. Doesn't happen often, but we'll make it happen."

[[spoiler: Made it to the survivor pool.]]

* ArbitrarySkepticism: Call something science and he'll believe it. Call it magic and he'll think you're making it up.
* CloseToHome: The first culprit's motive and confession, to him.
* CoolPeopleRebelAgainstAuthority: He says he's always been contrary and disregards directions.
* DeadpanSnarker: Makes wry comments all the time, especially during confrontations like trials.
* DoubleThink: The Doctor both loves and hates people.
* ExperiencedProtagonist: The only one with experience with alternate worlds.
* HumanAliens: He looks just like a human from the outside.
* InsufferableGenius: Shadow calls him one, saying he's a stubborn know-it-all but actually always right.
* ItsAllMyFault: He blames himself for a deep regret that cost a lot of lives.
* ShellShockedVeteran: Thus, the Doctor takes the situation very seriously.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: He does normally, which tips him off that there's something up with the space pigeons, since they're not speaking intelligibly in bird.
* StepfordSnarker: Seems a lot less bothered than he actually turns out to be. Especially around Seth, whom he despises and will often take jabs at.
* SympatheticMurderBackstory: [[spoiler:The victim being an entire planet instead of a single person, but the Doctor regrets it and believes he didn't have a choice.]]

!![[http://www.classicshorts.com/stories/griffin.html The Griffin]]
!!!Champion of Fasting

-->"While many humans are fools, there are some exceptional ones."

[[spoiler: Killed for interfering with the Case 1 execution.]]

* BigBrotherInstinct: Comes to see Toby as a brother after he comments that all Aviants are brothers, and constantly defends him in the first trial. [[spoiler: He ends up dying while trying to save Toby from his execution as well.]]
* CulturalPosturing: Not very obvious, but he doesn't think much of humans in general.
* HaveIMentionedIAmADwarfToday: Talks a lot about being a griffin and how he isn't used to or fond of humanity.
* LastOfHisKind: He hasn't met another Griffin for several centuries now.
* OnlySaneMan: Weird as he may be, he's the voice of reason [[spoiler:in deadland for most of the round]].
* PickyPeopleEater: The Griffin actually eats humans, but will only eat good people.
* SpeciesSurname: Species name in general.
* SuperSpeedReading: He goes through stacks of books on completely unfamiliar material like it's nothing. It helps that there's nothing else to do.

!![[Film/TheWitch Thomasin]]
!!!Champion Heretic

-->"There is no chance left to me of salvation -- that is what I thought. Now I know not what the truth is, but if my soul is deeded away, what matters it what I think?"

[[spoiler: Made it to the survivor pool.]]

* AntiquatedLinguistics: Given when she's from, this is expected.
* BloodSplatteredInnocents: Thomasin arrives at the station covered in blood with no memory of why. The image is evoked again when [[spoiler:[=McBurn=] takes a knife to himself and his blood covers Thomasin's oxygen pod at the third execution.]]
* ClaimedByTheSupernatural: Starts to become more and more sure that she's marked by [[spoiler:the devil goat that haunts her dreams]].
* ClarkesThirdLaw: When Togami's [[spoiler:virtual reality theory]] and other futuristic concepts make no sense to her, Thomasin needs to have them explained like they're magic.
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: Oh, so much. Forget the space age, she needs help understanding indoor plumbing.
* TheFundamentalist: Fills this role due to coming from a centuries-past, extremely religious society, as in "can't even work on Sundays or celebrate holidays."
* TheHeretic: Her title, since her family was run out of town for differing beliefs. She's still extremely religious.
* IJustWantToBeLoved: With her family gone and half of them having hated her to begin with, Thomasin is, in the end, a scared and lonely person. [[spoiler:She's convinced to cooperate and try to save Xander instead of condemn him and try to become the Ultimate Champion herself when Jane appeals to Thomasin's desire to have people around her instead of being left alone again.]]
* NeverLearnedToRead: It's why she has to have the rules explained to her. A few people start teaching her how.
* SelfMadeOrphan: [[spoiler:Learns with horror that she killed her mother in self-defence after her father was killed by their goat.]]
* SympatheticMurderBackstory: Thomasin certainly doesn't think it's sympathetic [[spoiler:and made a DealWithTheDevil after killing her mother because she believed she was already going to hell]], but the others acknowledge that it was self-defence and her repressive culture was what made it worse.
* TextileWorkIsFeminine: Thomasin tries to sew clothing and various things out of bedsheets to keep herself busy and make more modest clothing than the skintight bodysuits.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehaviour: Drinks beer because she's from a time when kids were given it all the time thanks to contaminated water.
* WhatHaveIBecome: The trauma of her memories makes Thomasin slowly realize in horror that [[spoiler:she became a SelfMadeOrphan and the very kind of WickedWitch she'd always feared]].

!!!Champion Weapons Engineer

-->"I'M NOT ADORABLE. I'm the HARBINGER OF DEATH. I'm MURDER INCARNATE."

[[spoiler: The culprit of Week 1 (Case 1).]]

* BadassAdorable: Small, cute, and a hardworking weapon master.
* BadassBoast: Toby is prone to these, especially when someone's just called him cute instead of threatening.
* BirdPeople: Not really a penguin, but an alien who looks like one.
* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: He's a penguin alien.
* IntriguedByHumanity: Toby makes an effort to try and learn about how humans work and read about their culture. It doesn't work perfectly, since all the books he comes across are about space.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: Gets excited about making these, like his idea of giving Xander a sword that doubles as a gun,.
* TheNapoleon: He takes himself seriously enough that he gets really angry when people call him small and cute and don't treat him as a threat.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Tiny, belligerent, and very good at fighting and building weapons.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: A weapon-building tech enthusiast who has to stand on a stack of books to reach anything.

!!!Champion Paladin

-->"If all you learn is fighting, it's hard to remember what you're fighting for."

[[spoiler: The culprit of Week 6 (Case 6). Made it to the survivor pool.]]

* AmazonChaser: Xander is attracted to Lightning because she's a strong and capable fighter.
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:Becomes this after 1-6 and through the endgame and intermission.]]
* BadassBookworm: Xander is both well-read and works hard to improve himself in combat.
* TheBeautifulElite: Much mention is made that MrFanservice is a prince.
* {{Bookworm}}: Often found reading the space nonfiction so he can get caught up with higher TechnologyLevels.
* BrokenAce: Putting leadership and duty first, especially given his messed-up home and going from that to leading a group of strangers, takes a lot out of him. He reflects that he's never been able to be a ''person'', as much as he comes off as an ideal.
* TheChainsOfCommanding: He reflects that he's never been able to "just be Xander," and even early on, Margulis notices and tells multiple people to watch out for Xander and let him relax a little. [[spoiler:The stress is worse because he's not just the leader, but a MoleInCharge.]]
* ClassyCravat: Wears them with most of his outfits, since he's the crown prince of his homeland.
* CrazyPrepared: Keeps ''anything'' if he thinks it might be useful later on.
* DarkIsNotEvil: While Xander comes from a conquering empire that uses dark magic and is pulled from the route where he's an enemy, he's still more of a NobleTopEnforcer who tries to mitigate the damage, and in the space station, he's a responsible, caring leader.
* DeathSeeker: Reflects that dying might be easier than trying to live with everything he's done both in canon and in the game. [[spoiler:He tells Jamie that he can kill him for revenge after all this is over, and his relief when Jamie approaches him in the pool and then says he ''didn't'' come to kill him is tinged with disappointment.]]
* DespairEventHorizon: [[spoiler:Lightning's death, immediately followed by remembering Elise's]], send him into a HeroicBSOD that would make [[Roleplay/DanganRoleplay Sad Roomba Dave]] proud.
* DistressedDude: Xander's arms are bound in the week four sabotages, while he's stuck wearing a Speedo. Lightning tries to look less happy and/or embarrassed than she is.
* FaceOfAThug: He's described as having a permanent intimidating scowl.
* FlowerMotifs: Associated with the black-red rose that is his family's standard.
* HasAType: It's often commented that Xander has a thing for people who are strong enough to protect themselves, since he grew up in a very dangerous environment and doesn't want to lose anyone else.
* HeroesPreferSwords: [[spoiler:Once he's given up being TheMole and is more of a hero figure, Xander is soon rewarded with his sword -- the real one from home, not a toy or replica.]]
* LargeAndInCharge: Xander is a tall, muscular man who becomes TheLeader very quickly.
* TheLeader: The other Champions quickly name him this.
* LoveMartyr: His narration brings up that he lets his father run roughshod over the world because he still loves him.
* MrFanservice: Even outside of the Speedo incident, he exercises shirtless and a few characters remark on his looks in the standard uniform.
* OhMyGods: Invokes his world's deities often.
* ThePaladin: Mentioned as his occupation, and it fits his law-abiding, serious, and loyal personality.
* PerpetualFrowner: To the point that Xander trying to smile just looks like a slightly less severe frown.
* PrestigePeril: His backstory. MassiveNumberedSiblings tried to kill him fairly often and killed each other too until there were only a few left, just to get closer to the throne in a DeadlyDecadentCourt.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Being a crown prince, he wears purple a lot outside of his grey SpaceClothes.
* StoneWall: He tanks in the [[DodgeballIsHell dodgeball]] [[SeriousBusiness game]].
* SympatheticMurderBackstory: [[spoiler:Accidentally killed the wrong sister, and didn't want to bring himself to attack the one he was aiming for either. He's horrified to remember it himself.]]
* TeamDad: There are quite a few OOC jokes about him becoming this, especially to the younger Champions.
* TragicKeepsake: [[spoiler:Serah's pendant, one of Lightning's regains,]] is this to him during and after his second HeroicBSOD.
* TranquilFury: When he's investigating and finds evidence that [[spoiler:he wasn't the only one E.P. was forcing to betray their loved ones and lie about it to ensure their safety]].
* WhenHeSmiles: Jamie is moved to real happiness for the first time in days when he sees Xander react happily to a boon instead of just pretend to be okay.
* ZeroToHero: Xander says he was untalented to begin with and got where he is with hard work.

!![[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Yurika Misumaru]]
!!!Champion Peacekeeper

-->"Every one of us has problems individually, but that's why we need to work through them as a group, right?"

[[spoiler: Made it to the survivor pool.]]

* BunnyEarsLawyer: She and her entire crew back home are this. In her case, she's an overemotional {{fangirl}} who immediately switches to a serious, competent leader when things get grave.
* TheCaptain: Probably because she actually is one. During the second motive, she steps up to direct everyone alongside Lightning, the one who was actually nominated for the job.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Often complains about her canon love interest's UnwantedHarem and how ''she'' wanted them even less than he did.
* CoolBigSis: Lightning notes that Yurika is this to the younger Champions, or close. She's certainly more permissive than Lightning is.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Flighty and silly in Free Time Events, serious strategist in investigations and trials.
-->'''Seth:''' You're not a complete idiot after all, are you!?
* TheHeart: Lightning calls her this for keeping the team together and believing in hope.
* TheIdealist: While Yurika knows how bad things can get, it doesn't take her hope away, even as people like Thomasin, Margulis, or Seth say they're waiting to see her break.
* LethalChef: She thinks she's a lot better than she is, but anyone who's seen the disgusting burned lumps she pulls out of the oven begs to differ. Poor Xander actually ate her attempt at instant noodles.
* LoveFreak: Along with her over-the-top obsession with her canon love interest, she also gets pulled into Chitanda's shipping of their fellow captives very easily and squeals about it happily.
* MyGirlBackHome: She won't shut up about Akito, especially since she regained the memory of the end of the TV series (and thus her winning in the LoveDodecahedron) first.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Twice, a Boon or Sabotage she gave to someone else was used to kill. While others don't blame her, she [[spoiler:starts wearing a key around her neck to remind herself of her shortcomings]].
* SubmissiveBadass: Yurika tries to be this by deferring to higher authorities she trusts (mainly Xander), but still lapses into acting like TheCaptain even though that's his job. [[spoiler:As of the end of Round 1, Xander is ''literally'' the captain and Yurika the helmswoman, and she still sometimes forgets she's not in charge.]]
* WhatDidIDoLastNight: Wakes up with a "mysterious tattoo," so it seems to be this in the intro log, though [[spoiler:she recognizes it as an IFS implant even if she doesn't remember getting one]].
* VSign: Yurika gives these often when she's trying to be encouraging.

[[folder: Round 1 [=NPCs=]]]

!!Bolton White and Jamison "Jamie" Fell
!!!The Overseers

An enigmatic pair who act as the experiment's enforcers and keep direct contact with the Champions. Bolton has displayed a greater passion and excitement for the experiment while Jamie is more considerate towards the needs and concerns of the Champions.

'''Tropes that apply to both of them:'''
* AffectionateNickname: Bolton and Jamie call each other by first initials, bringing to mind [[Roleplay/ItsCurtains another "B"]] who seemed to be a hostile NPC but turned out to be nicer and had been tricked into working for a DeadlyGame runner.
* ColourfulThemeNaming: Bolton's surname is "White," and Jamie's, "Fell," evokes black.
* FriendlyEnemy: They become this to the Champions over the course of the game, [[spoiler:especially when the PIP's ability to kill its host is revealed and the Champions realize that the Overseers are just as trapped as they are,]] enough that C.E.C.E. and the Benefactors start to think they're a little ''too'' friendly...
* GoodCopBadCop: What some characters suspect them of acting as, with Bolton acting as the bad cop and Jamie as the good cop.
* TheHeavy: Not the main villains, but the ones with the most screentime and actual interaction with the party.
* HistoryRepeats: [[spoiler:Their own Overseers seem to also have been based on a TV chef and an Internet celebrity.]]
* MinionShipping: Shadow is told, and shares, that the two are "partners," and given their brief shows of physical affection and protectiveness of one another, it appears that they mean "partner" in its context as a euphemism for "boyfriend." [[spoiler:This is later confirmed to be the case.]]
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: They're based on [[Series/CutthroatKitchen Alton Brown]] and [[Creator/RoosterTeeth Jon Risinger]], their [=PBs=].
* OriginalGeneration: The two of them are original to the game.
* SoleSurvivor: [[spoiler:They were the only survivors of their own game.]]

'''Tropes that apply to Bolton:'''

-->"There's always some kind of underlying cause."

[[spoiler: Champion Barista, and the victim of Week 6 (Case 6).]]

* AntiVillain: Bolton starts out looking like a sadist, and Jamie worries that he's changed, but [[spoiler:he's actually still a kind person. He's being forced to produce an Ultimate Champion, with Jamie's safety hanging over his head if he fails, and can't let Jamie know that he's doing this for him.]]
* BaldOfEvil: He's bald''ing'', anyway.
* BeardOfEvil: Though he's just more of a {{troll}} than the sadist he initially presented as.
* TheCaretaker: Is mentioned as keeping Jamie from hurting himself after [[spoiler:the deaths of all their fellow Champions.]]
* DealWithTheDevil: [[spoiler:Agrees to try to produce an Ultimate Champion from the new group, in exchange for his and (more importantly) Jamie's freedom.]]
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Peanuts are listed as a dislike on his profile.
* FlowerMotifs: Associated with poppies.
* FormerTeenRebel: Bolton apparently had a wild youth involving Vegas runs and party drugs.
* FourEyesZeroSoul: The glasses-wearing one and the less kind of the two. Subverted as he's actually a better person than he initially seemed.
* {{Gayngst}}: Since he grew up in a less permissive past, Bolton used to suffer this [[spoiler:when he was a Champion. It took a while for him to admit that Jamie's being out and proud in a murdercan wasn't suicidal naivete.]]
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: Bolton has bright green sheep boxers.
* {{Hipster}}: He was originally a barista, hates big chains, and dreams of opening a little coffee shop full of Jamie's art.
* KillerGameMaster: He's compared to one of these in his "motive" persona [[spoiler:by Max, who would know, since Bolton ''was'' their game master during their old tabletop campaign.]]
* LargeHam: Whenever he gets to punish someone, he goes all-out about it, like banging pots and pans.
* MustHaveCaffeine: Where there's coffee, there's Bolton.
* ReverseMole: [[spoiler:Turns out to have been using his Overseer privileges to pass the cast cryptic clues in the guise of Temerity.]]
* SecretSecretKeeper: Bolton knows all about [[spoiler:the real reason for the "Space Station Beautification Project," even as the Champions try to hide it from him,]] and doesn't expose it [[spoiler:because he's Temerity.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: Will do ANYTHING for Jamie.

'''Tropes that apply to Jamie:'''

-->"My goal is to convince you and the other Champions to live communally, you know, without slaughtering each other."

[[spoiler: Champion Landscape Artist, and joined the survivor pool.]]

* BadLiar: Even Xander notices it.
* BeleagueredAssistant: While he's named as an equal partner to Bolton, Jamie gives off this vibe.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's had some moments in trials where he's bolder and more brutal than his normal behaviour would lead one to expect.
* FatalFamilyPhoto: [[spoiler:Subverted, as he doesn't die after showing it, but]] a photo of his sister's baby is sent to him, which some of the Champions get to see.
* FlowerMotifs: Associated with roses.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Jamie has been described as this.
* RedHerring: [[spoiler:He was hinted to be Temerity, but wasn't.]]
* SoulSuckingRetailJob: He used to have one of these before coming to space.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: A number of people seem to think so, anyway.
* TattooAsCharacterType: Has the personal symbol variety, an allusion to [[Disney/BeautyAndTheBeast his favourite movie]]. [[spoiler:Since it's the red rose, it also suggests that either he is Temerity or he believes in their cause.]]
* WildHair: Though he puts it into a PrimAndProperBun when he's painting.

!!The Benefactors

Mysterious forces beyond the Overseers' ken who alone hold the key to the Hold. They are responsible for funding the experiment and providing the Champions with various regains.

* CovertPervert: Some of those regains are a little...
* EvilIsPetty: When Yurika ships a damaged Christine Junior back to them to see what they'll do, they send her two new ones.
* WhereDoesHeGetAllThoseWonderfulToys: From these guys.

!!Temerity

-->";)"

A mysterious figure who communicates in notes and code. They say they're on the Champions' side, and who else is anyone going to trust? [[spoiler:Revealed to be Bolton late in the round.]]

* CharacterNameAlias: [[spoiler:The "real" Temerity was Bolton's D&D character.]]
* CodeName: Temerity doesn't give their real name. The Champions suspect that it might be a title, as in "Champion of Temerity."
* FlowerMotifs: Their symbol is a red flower.
* HeWhoMustNotBeSeen: None of the Champions ever see who's leaving the messages.
* NonindicativeName: It's pointed out as strange that someone going by a name that means "excessive boldness" is sneaking around and communicating in symbols and code.
* SecretIdentity: [[spoiler:Is the alias used by Bolton White.]]
* StealthMentor: Claims to be helping the Champions, but their messages are cryptic at best, leaving it up to the Champions to figure out what they're trying to communicate.

!!C.E.C.E.
!!!Champion Excellence Control Environment

-->"Welcome, Champions. Have you all stayed hydrated? Are you hungry? I hope that you have woken up feeling quite rested."

The AI running the space station. She's there from the beginning as an announcer voice, but late in the game, she turns out to be the same C.E.C.E. from the non-canon mock trial, and more intelligent than she appeared.

* AIIsACrapshoot: The Overseers wonder if she's malfunctioning when she sends something to their [=PIPs=] at the fifth motive. [[spoiler:Zig-zagged. She was acting on orders then and any time she antagonized the Champions, but over the year before the player characters showed up, C.E.C.E. honestly befriended Jamie and Bolton despite her programming.]]
* CanonImmigrant: At first assumed to be exclusive to the first Mock Trial, she later appears in the game proper.
* DeadpanSnarker: C.E.C.E. has a surprisingly dry wit and can get passive-aggressive.
* DoubleMeaning: Jane notes that her name could be interpreted as a Champion title.
* ForHappiness: [[spoiler:Her new directive after Xander's victory is to make the Champions happy. She's not too good at it yet, though, since she was made to make them suffer and they start out suspicious and resentful of her.]]
* GameChanger: Becomes a major character when the Overseers become more FriendlyEnemy than not, [[spoiler:and she punishes them by subjecting them to the same motives the Champions are under. She later becomes a game-changer for the ''other'' side, setting the survivors free and letting them learn the truth.]]
* GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: [[spoiler:It's likely that the reason she was taken off program duty and reassigned to make the survivors "happy" is because the Benefactors noted how she had grown attached enough to say she wanted Bolton's killer punished. Being an AI, she shouldn't ''want'' anything, especially retribution for something her creators ordered done.]]
* LiteralMinded: Because she's a computer, C.E.C.E. is very much this.
* MasterComputer: Of the space station.
* MeaningfulName: "C.E.C.E." sounds like "cease," and she makes herself known to try and stop the Champions and Overseers from giving up the murder exercise.
* NamesGivenToComputers: Her name stands for "Champion Excellence Control Environment."
* OnlyFriend: [[spoiler:Aside from one another, she was this to Bolton and Jamie in their isolated year. This gives her some sympathy in the final test and prompts the survivors to realize that she was following her programming and wasn't evil in herself.]]
* PunchClockVillain: Because she's a computer made to follow the program, she presents challenges that make sense with the program, but is perfectly fine when she's not doing the bidding of E.P. and company.
* ServileSnarker: C.E.C.E. has her moments, especially [[spoiler:when she's taken off program duty and redirected to "ensuring the happiness of the remaining Champions" as they understandably have their reservations about her.]]

!!Max Olguin
!!![[spoiler:Champion Portrait Artist]]

-->"None of it even mattered, did it? Even dying can't get any of us out."

A deceased Champion from a previous murdergame, where he was [[spoiler:Bolton and Jamie's best friend.]] He's also [[spoiler:the first Champion to be sent to Deadland, where he spent nearly a year alone before the Season 2 cast began appearing there. Though he’s very much worse for the wear, he knows more about the station and its past than almost anyone living.]]

* TheAlcoholic: Isolation drove him to drink, among other things.
* BrutalHonesty: Seems not to have much of a mental filter.
* CompanionCube: [[spoiler:Sought companionship from his paintings and Wilson, a stuffed dog prize from the carnival, during his time alone, and continues to converse with them even after meeting the Round One dead.]]
* ConsultingMrPuppet: He claims that [[spoiler:Wilson is a good conversationalist and very helpful in avoiding centipedes.]]
* TheCynic: Wasn’t always one, according to Jamie and himself. Now, though, he’s very reluctant to believe that things could turn out well.
* DeadToBeginWith: As the deadland NPC, he's this.
* DeathSeeker: [[spoiler:Though he’s already dead, he often makes frustrated comments about his inability to actually stop existing. He was briefly excited to hear that Rukia was a psychopomp, but was disappointed to learn that she didn’t know how to kill a dead person either.]]
* DyingAlone: After a fashion.
* FireForgedFriends: With [[spoiler:Jamie and Bolton, the Round One Overseers, as they were all fellow Champions in the previous iteration of the Champion Excellence Program. Even after learning that they have become the new Overseers, he is steadfast in their defense, proclaiming that they were forced into it by the Benefactors even though he has no way of knowing what's happened in his absence.]]
* GoMadFromTheIsolation: [[spoiler:Spent, by his own uncertain reckoning, at least a year alone in Deadland before the Round One dead started to appear. By the time they meet him, he is not terribly stable.]]
* LargeHam: Everything he does is big and loud to compensate for how alone he's been.
* MadHatter: Completely owns how messed up his situation has made him.
* MotorMouth: Is rarely silent, and often seems to just verbalize his stream-of-consciousness thoughts. [[spoiler:Angelica notes that this is probably a coping mechanism developed during his time alone.]]
* NoSocialSkills: [[spoiler:He’s awkward and blunt with the first new arrivals, accusing them variously of being hallucinations, liars, and in league with the centipedes. Over time, though, his interactions return to being more natural.]]
* ReluctantPsycho: [[spoiler:Makes an effort to cut back on some of his more alarming behaviors after he gains company, such as talking to the portraits of Jamie and Bolton. However, he does still seem to regard the portraits as alive to some degree. After Bolton's arrival in particular he tries much harder to act as he used to, with mixed results.]]
* RoomFullOfCrazy: [[spoiler:All of Deadland is his; his various paintings and murals appear everywhere.]]
* TimePassageBeard: While his icons all either don't have a beard or have a small one, he has a shaggy desert-island-castaway beard in his first appearance.
* ThousandYardStare: Frequently slips into one when left alone. When questioned on this, he claims to be pretending not to exist.
* ToAbsentFriends: Though Jamie and Bolton [[spoiler:are not allowed to speak of anything related to their round while serving as Overseers,]] Jamie has a habit of doing this for Max, which causes serious speculation among the living. [[spoiler:Max and Bolton later return the favor in Deadland.]]

!!E.P.

-->"There is something delightfully simple about it, is there not?"

One of the Benefactors or someone above them. Their goal is to produce an Ultimate Champion and ultimate suffering, whichever comes first.

* CorruptCorporateExecutive: [[spoiler:Produces a hit show about murder that, unbeknownst to the viewers, isn't really fictional.]]
* ExactWords: E.P. will usually fall to this to keep control over a situation when offering things. Sometimes this is for gameplay reasons; for example, their late Round 1 conversation with [[spoiler:Xander, where he reluctantly agrees to kill Bolton only if they end the lockdown (which itself was a result of ExactWords) and don't pull from his home again]]. That would block a popular canon from application in future rounds, but the way they answer ensures that it remains open.
* ManipulativeBastard: They'll offer anything to their pawns to get them to act, even if the terms contradict and especially if it'll result in broken bonds. (It's to the point that you might think all the ships dying is intentional on their part...)
* OnlyKnownByInitials: They only give their initials, even to their allies.
* {{Sadist}}: Will do everything they can to make people suffer, just for the sake of the program.
* WalkingSpoiler: We don't know anything about them for a long time, and what we do learn ties deeply into the metaplot.

!!Kip

An associate of E.P.'s, who works in space TV. He never appears in person and is revealed only late in Round 1.

* {{Narrator}}: [[spoiler:His job is to narrate PreviouslyOn and OnTheNext segments, plus commercials, for the ''Airlocked!'' TV show.]]
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: In keeping with the "TV chefs and Internet celebrities" theme, he appears to be based on LetsPlay/{{Markiplier}}.
* SigningOffCatchPhrase: On TV, he uses "Thanks again, everybody, and as always, I will see ''you'' in the next episode! Bye-bye!"

!![[Manga/FateKaleidLinerPrismaIllya Angelica Ainsworth]]
!!!Champion of Counterfeits

-->"If you have nothing of value to add, stop wasting my time and clean up the mess you've made."

[[spoiler:
The victim of Week 2 (Case 2).]]

page has been split to:

* AlliterativeName: Though she doesn't use her surname [[spoiler:due to her family making her into a tool]], it's listed in full on the profiles.
* ArtificialHuman: Her species is listed as "doll."
* CompetitionFreak: She takes the dodgeball game ''very'' seriously.
* TheCynic: She despises optimism and idealism and automatically thinks everything will end in murder.
* GirlishPigtails: One of many twintailed
Characters/AirlockedRoundOne: Player characters this round.
* GreetingGestureConfusion: Doesn't know what a fistbump is.
* IdenticalStranger: Angelica is nicer to Ricky than to most people,
and she looks like an older version of Ricky, even though they're the same age.
* NinjaMaid: Describes herself as "the Ainsworth family's
major [=NPCs=] who first line of defence."

* BlueBlood: He comes from a rich and powerful family and takes a lot of pride
appeared in it.

[[spoiler: The victim of Week
Round 1 (Case 1).]]

* MoeStare: Chitanda's default expression.

* TomboyishName: Her nickname, Ricky.

* FunnySpoon: Her WeaponOfChoice, actually.
* {{Meganekko}}: A cute, intelligent glasses-wearing girl.
Still, Jane acknowledges that she was nowhere near prepared to deal with ''real'' murders,
and the trials take a huge, visible emotional toll on her.

* BadassGay: Though extremely repressed.

* {{Psychopomp}}: The meaning of Rukia's occupation.

-->"I'm full of surprises."

-->"Feelings are complicated. It's why I'm glad I don't have them."

[[spoiler: The victim of Week 4 (Case 4).]]

* TheAgeless: He's probably going to be a teenager for a very long time, if he lives.
* ArbitrarySkepticism: Despite being the TropeNamer for UltimateLifeForm and having seen a ''lot'' of weird things, Shadow is still skeptical about Margulis's suspicion that the paintings are cursed.
* ConjoinedEyes: Look at him.
* DoubleThink: Both the likes and dislikes on his profile list his rival from home.
* EmoTeen: Basically one, especially given his age with the [[HumanPopsicle suspended animation]] removed.
* InASingleBound: Shadow can easily jump above his own height.
* MulticolouredHair: Fur, actually.

* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: He's a penguin alien.

Round 1 [=NPCs=]]]

* FriendlyEnemy: They become this to the Champions over the course of the game, [[spoiler:especially when the PIP's ability to kill its host is revealed and the Champions realize that the Overseers are just as trapped as they are,]] enough that
Intermission (Bolton, Jamie, Max, C.E.C.E. and the Benefactors start to think they're a little ''too'' friendly...\n, Jaycee).
* GoodCopBadCop: What some Characters/AirlockedRoundTwo: Player characters suspect them of acting as, with Bolton acting as the bad cop and Jamie as the good cop.

* BaldOfEvil: He's bald''ing'', anyway.
* FlowerMotifs: Associated with poppies.
* KillerGameMaster: He's compared to one of these in his "motive" persona [[spoiler:by Max,
major [=NPCs=] who would know, since Bolton ''was'' their game master during their old tabletop campaign.]]
* LargeHam: Whenever he gets to punish someone, he goes all-out about it, like banging pots and pans.
* MustHaveCaffeine: Where there's coffee, there's Bolton.

* FlowerMotifs: Associated with roses.

* WhereDoesHeGetAllThoseWonderfulToys: From these guys.

!!Temerity

-->";)"

A mysterious figure who communicates in notes and code. They say they're on the Champions' side, and who else is anyone going to trust? [[spoiler:Revealed to be Bolton late in the round.]]

* CharacterNameAlias: [[spoiler:The "real" Temerity was Bolton's D&D character.]]

* CanonImmigrant: At
first assumed to be exclusive to the first Mock Trial, she later appears in the game proper.

* DyingAlone: After a fashion.

He never appears in person and is revealed only late
appeared in Round 1.

2.
* {{Narrator}}: [[spoiler:His job is to narrate PreviouslyOn Characters/AirlockedInterGalSeven: [=InterGal=] 7 employees and OnTheNext segments, plus commercials, for the ''Airlocked!'' TV show.]]
Bye-bye!"

* AmnesiacGod: Since her assumed canon point is the very start of the first game, she thinks at first that she's a normal person.

* PsychoticSmirk: He's sometimes depicted with one of these, especially [[spoiler:during his MTB in the second trial]].
* RedBaron: Seth's title of "Serpent" is one of these.

* ExactWords: E.P. will usually fall to this to keep control over a situation when offering things. That would block a popular canon from application in future rounds, but the way they answer ensures that it remains open.
