* Franchise/AvatarTheLastAirbender:
** In a rare moment in The Search, after Sokka expresses his care for Katara, Zuko follows his example and puts his blanket over Azula. Pretty heartwarming to be that gentle to the girl who manipulated and tried to kill him a dozen times... but at the end of the day, she’s still his sister. Both Zuko and Azula have this for their younger half-sister, Kiyi, in the comics.
** In Rebound, Mai takes down a room of Ozai loyalists to save her little brother from being indoctrinated into their father's radical group.

* In ComicBook/2015, Mary, the protagonist, explains that she once saw a boy getting bullied but left pretending she hadn't seen anything. In contrast, when a giant monsters throws a van against her little brother, she rushes to get him out of the way and gets crushed instead (though the Witchblade heals her injuries).

* Franchise/Batman: Dick Grayson's relationship with everyone he knows, him being on both ends. Be they a Titan, Leaguer or one of the Batfamily, Dick will make sure to get you messed up for harming them. Be they a Titan, Leaguer, or Bat, they will make sure to get you messed up for harming him. As Jason Todd found out, even if you're his brother, you do NOT hurt one of the other brothers... or one of his sisters for that matter.
** Special mention to his relationship with Tim Drake, the third Robin and Dick's adopted little brother. One issue had Tim believed to have been killed by the Joker when a mass Arkham escape was in progress. Nightwing then beats the Joker to death with his bare hands, it didn't help that the Joker decided to bring up how he had also killed Jason Todd (the first of Nightwing's adopted little brothers). The Joker was just lucky Batman was around to revive him.
** And a second one to Dick's relationship with Batman's biological son Damian Wayne, who eventually softens up to Dick, though he probably wouldn't say it out loud.
** ComicBook/Batgirl (Barbra Gordon) has a Big Sister Instinct for Tim, Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain and Damian and much like her love interest Dick she takes any injury or insult towards her “Bat-siblings” very personally. Babs even journeyed to freaking Apokolips alongside Bruce and Jason and fought Parademons to get Damian’s body back and resurrect him.
** Helena Bertinelli aka ComicBook/Huntress similarly acts like this towards the younger members of the Bat-Family on occasion, she’s shown explicit care for Tim, Cassandra and later Damian and even played TeamMom in Public Enemies.
** ComicBook/Catwoman tends to be a female version of this whenever she acquires a female tagalong who's too old for this to be considered MamaBear.
** Kate Kane was this to her twin sister Beth, whose personality was meeker than Kate's. On one occasion Kate even beat up an older boy who was bullying her.
*** Kate also tried to be this for her cousin Bette but it didn't work out. Bette thought she was babying her and hated it.
* ComicBook/TheFlash: Dick Grayson’s best friend Wally West is just as protective of Bart as Dick is of Tim. When he returns to Earth to find out that Bart’s been killed by Inertia he’s so pissed that he almost kills him by running him full speed into a mountain. He changes his mind last minute but still steals all of his speed turning him into a living conscious statue after which he puts him into the Flash museum forcing him to look at a statue of Bart. Do NOT EVER fuck with somebody that Wally cares about.
** Barry Allen aka (The Flash II) relationship is this for Wally himself having travelled through time and death to protect him including once from 2 Reverse Flashes, in ComicBook/DCRebirth Barry even cried when he learned he had forgotten Wally due to a CosmicRetcon and hugged his protege. When the Justice League namely Aquman doubt Wally’s integrity Barry threatens to King of Sea right then and there.
* It's complicated, but both Franchise/Superman and Comicbook/Supergirl are this to each other (Supergirl is technically at least fifteen years older, but due to suspended animation shenanigans, Superman is a grown man while she's still a teenager).
** In the ComicBook/RedDaughterOfKrypton arc, Superman was NOT amused when he found out what his cousin had became a Red Lantern, and both Green and Red Lanterns were frightened of what he would do should he blame them. Later on, when one of Supergirl's enemies mentioned that he would go after her cousin after defeating her, she pounced on him and beat him.
** In Comicbook/WarWorld Superman is trying to find Supergirl, who has gone missing. When Comicbook/TheSpectre -literally God's Wrath's embodiment- gets in his way, Superman tries to punch him. Superman is not prone to listen to reason if Kara is in danger.
** In Comicbook/TheSupergirlFromKrypton, Superman is very overprotective of his long-lost, new-fond young cousin. Very, very overprotective and short-tempered. Darkseid found out the hard way.
** In ComicBook/SupergirlCosmicAdventuresInThe8thGrade, Superman is protective from his cousin... and Comicbook/LexLuthor from Lena. Say whatever you want about Lex, but he cares for his little sister.
--->Lex: Lena is my sister, alien... I'm going to save her.
** Say what you will about Bizarro, but in ComicBook/Bizarrogirl , he intended to flee because he wanted to protect his young cousin at all costs.
* ComicBook/WonderWoman could, would and has fought gods and monsters to protect her fellow Amazon sisters, especially Donna Troy whose Diana’s actual sister or clone in some continuities. To a lesser extent Diana also cares for Cassie Sandsmark, whenever they meet.
** In the DarkerAndEdgier ComicBook/New52, Diana in her solo series sets up a male colony on Themyscira as a sign of progression, and comes to cherish her “brothers”. So later upon returning home to discover that conservative Amazons have butchered the men, Diana goes on a massive UnstoppableRage and takes bloody revenge on those responsible for their massacre.
* Billy Batson aka Captain Marvel loves his little sister Mary dearly as well his younger friend Freddy (whose his adoptive brother in later continuity) and unleash lightning powered butt whooping to Dr Sivania, Black Adam or anyone stupid enough to hurt or threatened them.
* ComicBook/GreenLantern: Post-Rebirth, Hal is attentive to and protective of Kyle. As Kyle regards Hal with a large dose of BigBrotherWorship, he generally appreciates the concern, but sometimes finds it aggravating:
--> Kyle: Always playing me like your kid brother, Hal. I can hold my own!\\
White Lantern Ring: RAGE.

!!Marvel comics
* It’s a usually DownplayedTrope but Bruce Banner aka ComicBook/TheHulk still cares for his cousin Jeniffer Walters especially in his Smart Hulk transformation in the John Bryne era. Hell Bruce saved Jeniffer’s life with a blood donation when she got shot and unintentionally made her incredibly badass. Case in point, Banner Hulk was getting his ass kicked by the KillerRobot Arsenal who had previously required an entire team of Avengers to subdue. Jennnifer rushes in to help her cousin only get swiftly knocked out. Cue the Hulk's signature UnstoppableRage fuelled NoHoldsBarredBeatdown.
** There’s also the inverse Shulkie tends to believe she’s the only one who can reach her cousin when he’s on a UnstoppableRage. The quickest way to piss She-Hulk off is to hurt her cousin especially when he’s in his weaker Bruce Banner form.
** Besides Jen, Hulk does share the same sentiment with his sidekick Rick Jones and surprisingly ComicBook/SpiderMan who he even lets take a ride on his shoulders and will get very, very mad if “Bug Man” is hurt around him.
* ComicBook/BlackPanther does not take violence or insult towards his younger Shuri well at all though she can usually look after herself well enough. In more recent comics he’s gone above and beyond to bring her back from the spiritual afterlife.
* ComicBook/CaptainBritain: Brian Braddock is protective of his twin sister, Betsy, even though these days, she's plenty capable of taking care of herself. He's also shown as being particularly protective of ComicBook/RachelSummers and ComicBook/KittyPryde during their time on , when both were teenagers. In Rachel's case, this involves dealing with/trying to deal with creeps on at least two occasions -- ironically, both were technically same guy (or rather, alternate versions of the same guy, Nigel Frobisher, Catchphrase Merchant Banking). The first time, he pulls a "your lips are saying that, darling, but -" and Brian promptly looms up behind him and says, "So do mine. Go away." The second time, he's admonishing her for literally tarring and feathering the local version of Nigel Frobisher when they're in another universe. Then she shows him what alt!Frobisher was thinking. It isn't revealed what that was, but it was bad enough that it makes Brian go from issuing a stern rebuke of Rachel in one panel to forcing his entire team to hold him back from beating alt!Frobisher into paste in the next.
* Susan Storm from ComicBook/TheFantasticFour is a very compassionate woman, but god forbid you hurt her baby brother Johnny because those force fields have beaten Marvel’s strongest heroes and villains. A great example of this was the Grandmaster forced to Sue and Johnny to fight to the death, Sue through sheer force of will defied Grandmaster refusing to hurt her brother no matter what. spoiler: When Johnny died (he got better) in a HeroicSacrifice against Annihilus‘s army, Sue was utterly devastated and put a force field around herself refusing to let anyone including Reed and her children near her.
** Reed and Ben also don’t take harm towards Johnny lying down and have got particularly violent when it comes to his safety, .
** Johnny himself has this towards his nephew and niece Franklin and Valeria though it overlaps with PapaWolf more often then not.
* The third ComicBook/GhostRider, Robbie Reyes, is the legal guardian of his little brother Gabe, and will gladly and quite literally unleash Hell if it keeps him safe.
* ComicBook/TheMightyThor: Thor treated Loki this way in early flashbacks to their childhood; however, it only aggravated Loki's already raging inferiority complex, putting him on the path to villainy.
** However, after Loki accidentally brought about the near-total destruction of Asgard, was killed in a last-ditch heroic sacrifice to save what was left (that may have been part of ThePlan) and reincarnated as a kid with only his childhood memories, he appreciates this protection a lot, since the only reason most people in Asgard haven't killed him yet is because they know Thor would go on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge on them and the city if Loki is harmed.
*** Kid Loki seems to be similarly protective of Thor. During the Comicbook/FearItself event, he engages in dark dealings and all to save Thor from being killed by The Serpent.
** Thor has always been like this towards Loki even when the latter was a villain. For better or for worse, Thor sees Loki as his responsibility. Thor will always foil Loki's evil plots and step in to save him from worse threats.
* ComicBook/Quicksilver is protective to the point of jealousy when it comes to his sister the ComicBook/ScarletWitch. This is Twincest taken further in ComicBook/UltimateMarvel.
** Apparently, it runs in the family, with the next Maximoff witch, Wiccan being protected by his twin, Speed. Unlike Ultimate ComicBook/Quicksilver and ComicBook/ScarletWitch, however, there's been no Twincest.
* In ComicBook/ThePunisherMAX story "The Tyger" which details Frank's childhood years, one of Frank's best friends is raped by the son of local mob boss, and she killed herself shortly thereafter. Frank (who is not yet even a teenager) steals his dad's gun and sets out to kill the rapist. He's beaten to it by her big brother, a Marine, who lures the man away from his bodyguards, beats him half to death, then tosses him in an open grave, pours a can of gasoline all over him, and sets him on fire.
* May Parker aka ComicBook/SpiderGirl adores her literal baby brother Benjamin aka “Benjy” and will do anything to protect him, including travelling across multiple universes to save him. One time when the ComicBook/Carnage Symbiote latches itself onto Benjy, May was forced to use Ultrasonics on him which damaged his ears, at which May was stricken with guilt and blamed herself.
* ComicBook/XMen:
** From the original X-Men Hank Mcoy aka ComicBook/Beast cares deeply for his fellow less strong teammates, he even gave Iceman a spine cracking hug upon discovering he was alive. Hank is also protective of Jean though his feelings weren’t always brotherly. Later in the 90s Beast insisted on joining Gambit and Rogue’s date alongside Wolverine and Jubilee making sure Gambit “treats her right”.
** ComicBook/Colossus may be GentleGiant be anyone foolish enough to hurt his little sister ComicBook/Magik is in for a world of organic steel pain.
** Both Colossus and ComicBook/Nightcrawler invoke this towards ComicBook/Storm, they even saved her from Dracula once. Nightcrawler even made Storm’s room more African so she’d be more comfortable.
** Between ComicBook/Wolverine's kids, Laura is one of the few people ComicBook/Daken openly cares for, and she is likewise protective of him.
*** Still gender-inverted, but otherwise played straight between Laura and the Sisters — four clones of her created by Alchemax Genetics — in ComicBook/AllNewWolverine. She goes through great lengths to protect and help them, nearly loses her cool when she thinks Comicbook/Taskmaster killed them, and is visibly upset when Comicbook/DoctorStrange admits he can't help her cure the girls despite her assurances she would get them through it.
*** Honey Badger/Scout is very protective of her big sister, Comicbook/X 23. If you so much as threaten to give Laura a bad day, Gabby will come for you.
** Anyone who messes with Nightcrawler’s stepsister ComicBook/Rogue is in for a TeleportSpam. On the flip-side Rogue cares deeply for her adoptive blue brother and once carried him in her arms to save him falling off a waterfall.
** ComicBook/Gambit’s first canon appearance was looking after Kid Storm and same as Wolverine he explicitly cares for Jubilee and X-23 greatly.
** Due to being older than them ComicBook/Cable is quite protective of his alternative universe counterpart siblings Rachel and Nate, although his interactions with Nate were initially pretty violent.
*** Separately, Rachel was very protective of Cable when he was growing up, forming a psychic bond with him as a baby that led to her going full Phoenix during Inferno and hurtling over to New York to try and protect him. She also, in the Mother Askani timeline, arranged for Jean and Scott to come to the future to raise him.
*** Nate was also protective of Cable at times, with the flashbacks in the 'Metus' arc of Cable's 2017 series showing Nate nearly getting himself killed to warn his older brother that Metus was coming for him. More generally, despite his often gruff demeanour and occasional WellIntentionedExtremist[=/=]AntiVillain moments, he's always a FriendToAllChildren and acted very brotherly towards his first cousins once removed, Gailyn and Joey Grey-Bailey, protecting them from the Prime Sentinels during Operation Zero Tolerance, including using the last of his powers to create a construct of Joey's bear.
** Though they can find it hard to get along, ComicBook/Cyclops still tends to treat Havok this way, insisting on carrying his coma-ridden brother into the X-Mansion despite the presence of a wheelchair and being so protective and interfering that they're mistaken for a couple in an issue of X-Factor.
** X-Men also has a lot of sister versions of this: ComicBook/JeanGrey to ComicBook/Storm, Storm and Jean to ComicBook/KittyPryde, Storm to Rogue, Rogue and Jean to Jubilee and Jubilee herself to X-23. Kitty Pryde ironically acts like this to the time traveling younger original five X-Men (specifically Jean, which is quite the role reversal compared to the 80s).
** Downplayed but once in a blue moon ComicBook/ProfessorX and his stepbrother Cain Marko aka The Juggernaut have shades of this of this. Although they’re fierce enemies, deep down they still care for each other quite bit, due to growing up and suffering abuse together. Notably Charles tried to stop Marko from touching the Gem of Cyttorak and even when attacked by him Charles never wishes harm upon his brutish stepbrother despite being giving many reasons to do so. Jugs himself has protected Charles and his school from World War Hulk, though he would sooner die than admit he actually cares little for his stepbrother and threatened those who dared suggest it.
*** Played completely straight in the recent Juggernaut comics where Xavier despite being AmbiguouslyEvil at this point in the X-Men comics being more concerned with Mutantkind than humanity, still checks up on on his stepbrother in hospital as a telepathic projection. Charles even apologises to Cain for being barred from joining the X-Men in Kraoka but also tells his stepbrother that he believes in him and knows he can turn over a new leaf, which Cain does.
