Added example(s)

Added DiffLines:

* TheBadGuyWins: There's been a few seasons where a houseguest who was particularly manipulative and/or unlikeable ended up winning the top prize.
** Will Kirby, the very first contestant to win after the format change, counts as this. He, along with Boogie and Shannon, were the villains of the season, more willing to strategize and play the game than the seasons heroes of Monica, Nicole, and Hardy. Although Boogie and Shannon were evicted fairly early, Will managed to subtly build relationships and maneuver his way to the end of the season.
** One of the few criticisms of Big Brother 6 is that it ends with a final 2 of players from much disliked Friendship alliance, after all the fan favorite members of the Sovereign Six alliance (especially Janelle) were evicted.
** Big Brother 7: Will and Boogie once again served as the de facto villains of the season, to the extent that Will took the opportunity during a Veto ceremony to tell everyone how much he hated all of them. Again, the two were able to maneuver to the end in spite of this, and although Will was taken out in 4th place after Janelle caught on to his tricks, Boogie was still able to grab the ultimate win.
** Evel Dick on Big Brother 8 is perhaps the most clear cut example of this. Extremely confrontational, extremely critical, the man all but had "BAD GUY" written on his forehead. Although most of the house comes around to him as the season goes on, and he gets some depth of character as he reconciles with his daughter Danielle, he still remains an antagonist figure throughout.
** Adam Jasinski from Season 9 was not well-liked by fans, starting off the season with controversy after it was revealed he worked as a hairdreser for special needs children but had no problem calling his clients the r-word in front of the other houseguests. Many people would have preferred to see Sheila or Sharon win this season, but Adam was able to eke out the win in part due to the controversial "guinea pig" question during the Final 4 [=HoH=]
** Although almost all of the veterans on Season 13 had a petty, holier-than-thou attitude toward the newbies throughout the season, Rachel was particularly volatile and seemed to go back and forth between antagonizing someone and having an emotional breakdown. She managed to beat out the "heroes" of Shelli, Kalia, and Danielle by virtue of her strong competition winning skills (along with a few conveniently timed twists).
** Jackson Michie was one of the ring leaders of the cliquey Gr8ful alliance, and had the demeanor of a stereotypical JerkJock. Although it seemed like heroes Cliff and Nicole might have been able to eke out a win as Gr8ful turned on each other, Jackson proved adept enough to survive the alliance's collapse and win the season, only to immediately be grilled by Julie on some of his behavior during the show.

Removed some examples that were left behind when You Gotta Have Blue Hair was removed

** A literal example would be Joey from Season 16, who could best be described as "The One with Blue Hair". Well, at least until she changed it up for the finale to cotton candy pink, and turns out to sport a wide variety of hair colors, with blue being the only one she got to show off in the house.
** Also from Season 16, Frankie had bright pink hair.
** Season 19 had bluenette/multi-colored streaks of pink and blonde Megan.

Added DiffLines:

** Averted by Season 25, which had 9 houseguests over the age of 30 and usurped Season 10 for oldest average cast age. Wheter or not this was done to benefit Cirie is a point of debate.

* CallBack: Episodes will frequently feature flashbacks not only to past episodes but even past seasons.

to:

* BrotherSisterIncest: Implied during the Season 25 finale. When Julie asks Matt which two houseguests he thinks are secretly related, he suggests Cory and AmericaWho had been in a relationship all season long. After a mixture of horrified and amused reactions from the houseguests, Julie asks Matt how he thinks they are related, before he admits he was joking.
* CallBack: Episodes will frequently feature flashbacks not only to past episodes but even as well as past seasons.seasons whenever context is necessary. In particular, anything notable that happens before the live broadcast on eviction day is usually flashed back to in Sunday's episode, since the editors wouldn't have time to put it in the same day's episode.

Added DiffLines:

* HandicappedBadass: Matt from Season 25 was born deafBy his own account, he has roughly 50% hearing in one ear and 20% in the other, but mostly relies on lip reading. Despite this, he won several competitions, formed strong connections with everyone else in the house, and made it to the season's Final Two.

Decided it was time to remove the list of gay men and give this trope some historical context

** The US version has (in order): Marcellas (3 & 7), Will (5), Beau (6), Joe (8), Joshuah & Neil (9), Steven (10), Kevin (11 & 22), Ragan (12), Lawon (13), Wil (14), Andy (15), Frankie (16), Jason (17 & OTT), Jozea (18), Ramses (19), Ross ([=CBB1=]), JC (20), & Derek F (23).
** Subverted by Bunky, who was the show's first openly gay contestant but was otherwise a quiet, withdrawn man. Also downplayed by Will from Season 5, who did have some effeminate mannerism but was nowhere near as extreme as contestants who would be on the show in years to come.
** Zig Zagged with Tommy from Season 21. He's a Broadway dancer with some flamboyant mannerisms, but shows way fewer camp mannerisms than previous gay men on the show, and could more closely be associated with BigApplesauce.

** Subverted
a long history among the casting of gay men on the US show. It was subverted by Bunky, who was the show's first openly gay contestant but who was otherwise a quiet, withdrawn man. Also downplayed by Will from Season 5, who did have some effeminate mannerism but was nowhere near as extreme as contestants who would be on quiet and withdrawn. Following that, the show in years to come.
** Zig Zagged with Tommy from Season 21. He's
would make a Broadway dancer with habit of casting some very flamboyant gay men, usually capped out at one per season. This trope would peter out as the show entered TheNewTwenties: homosexuality became more accepted in US society and the pool of gay applicants (presumably) grew. Tommy, Derek F, Michael, and Hisam all had some gay mannerisms, but shows way fewer camp mannerisms than previous none of them fell as squarely into this trope as the gay men on the show, and could more closely be associated with BigApplesauce.contestants before them.

* WokenUpAtAnUngodlyHour:
** Season 8 of the US show had Daddy-Daughter Duo Richard "Evel Dick" and Daniele Donato . Evel Dick realizes that Daniele may be up for eviction and decides the best way to save her is to get the other houseguests to hate him even more than her. He does this by getting up in the middle of the night and waking them up by turning on their lights, banging on a pot lid, and insulting them. For their part, the others simply try to ignore him and decide to start getting ready, wishing each other a good morning. .
** Evel Dick is back in Season 9 to host one of the Power of Veto competitions. He wakes up the houseguests the same way he did the previous season, banging a couple of pots together before the sun is up. This time however, the houseguests are much more receptive to his antics, treating him as a celebrity.

Format fix

** As a mistake on the producer's part, Tommy and Christie knew each other prior to Season 21, as Christie had dated Tommy's aunt for a few years. However, close friends and family of the houseguests have to sign release forms allowing them to be talked about on the live feeds and the edited show. Tommy's aunt did not sign one such form, and so the only mention we got on the show of how Tommy and Christie came to know each other was a Diary Room where Christie mentions she recently ended a relationship with "a member of Tommy's family".

** Season 24: Paloma leaves the house for mental health reasons at the end of week one. As a result, the planned week one eviction (which included a new twist) was cancelled,

** While most seasons have 30 to 40 episodes, Season 1 had an astounding 70 episodes. Each week, the show would air 4 half hour episodes and 1 hour long episode. The latter hour episode served as part recap and part new footage. Starting with Season 2, the show retooled the format to 3 hour long episodes per week, with recaps being regulated to the start of each episode.

The Chick disambiguation

** A quite literal example occurs in Big Brother 6. After Kaysar's friend Michael was evicted, he forms a counter alliance made up of everyone in the house who's not already in the Friendship alliance: Janelle, Howie, Rachel, James and Sarah. Following Eric/Cappy's eviction, the [=HoH=] flips week to week between the Friendship and Kaysar's alliance (dubbed the Sovereign Six), and no one except for James ever even attempts to make a deal with a member from the other side following Kaysar's second eviction. You could taste the vitriol the two opposing alliances had for each other.

** Many viewers had considered Kassting Inc to have been incompetent and should have not been the casting director. (Even though the Canadian casting is also handled by Kassting Inc!) After all, people considered Over the Top to have had a solid cast - and rejoiced when Tannenbaum was announced as the casting director, the same one was Over the top. What followed was Big Brother 23 - a season considered to have had one of the weakest casts.

** The game evolved a lot in its early years, with many of the game's most notable features added slowly over the first seven years. The first year is practically unrecognizable, BB2 only had the HoH and food competitions, BB3 introduced the veto (albeit a version that everybody competes for and the winner cannot use on themselves) with BB4 adopting the current Golden Power of Veto. BB5 saw the players develop the backdoor strategy, and finally All-Stars replaced PB&J with slop and responded to backdooring by randomizing the POV competitors.

** Taken literally in the first season by Chiquita the pug. Introduced during a live nomination episode, the dog wandered into the pool less than ten minutes after entering the house. She was promptly rescued by Eddie, who jumped in without hesitation to save the dog. By the next episode, either houseguests or the production team had put a fence around the pool to prevent another such incident.
