Max is a human, and Milia is a Zentradi, but after she defects, the two end up marrying ''and'' Milia gets a red variable fighter to match her husband's blue one. They even lead different squadrons together for a time span of about 30 years after the events of the original ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross''.

** Nanoha and Fate, but the fact that they're a couple has only been confirmed by WordOfGay from the writer and their voice actresses ([[HoYay/LyricalNanoha not that it wasn't obvious to anyone who watched the show]]). They're even [[HasTwoMommies raising a kid together]]. While we, the audience, see them work together, they're actually something of an subversion. Being in separate branches of the TSAB and having very different jobs (Nanoha as a Combat Instructor in the Air Force and Fate as an Enforcer in the Dimensional Navy) means that they're rarely in the same place at the same time while on active duty. Nanoha even points during the first battle in ''[[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers StrikerS]]'' that it's been a long time since they've fought side by side.

* ''LightNovel/{{Inukami}}'': Youko would ''like'' to be this with Keita, and from the perspective of [[EveryoneCanSeeIt EVERYONE ELSE]] they are. From his perspective she's just his demon busting assistant.

* Saito and Louise from ''LightNovel/TheFamiliarOfZero'' used to be the page image for SwordAndSorcerer. That alone should tell you about how awesome a Battle Couple they are. Similar to the Negima example, Louise summoned Saito to be a warrior/bodyguard for her in battle.

* Rookie Warrior and Apprentice Cleric from ''LightNovel/GoblinSlayer'' are not yet officially together, but they are moving in the direction of becoming a Battle Couple. The two go on adventures together, fight side by side, reaffirm their loyalty to each other, and each of them puts each other's needs above their own. For the rest of the guild, they act like an old couple.

* Kazuma and Ayano from ''LightNovel/KazeNoStigma''. He is a super [[BlowYouAway Wind Contractor]], she is a [[PlayingWithFire literal]] FieryRedhead. They are often paired up for missions.

** In some of the Baldur-route endings in ''[[FictionalVideoGame Magikoi]]'', this is played straight as well, as Baldur will elope and marry Fiene as commoner adventurers.

* Due to the explosively violent nature of Zanpakutō releases, this isn't a common trope in ''Manga/{{Bleach}}''. However, towards the end of Thousand-Year Blood War arc [[TheHero Ichigo Kurosaki]] and [[BarrierWarrior Orihime Inoue]] face the [[PhysicalGod ascended Yhwach]] in this manner, with Ichigo attacking while Orihime heals and shields, [[spoiler: and Yhwach has to make quiiiite the effort to disrupt their shared teamwork]]. As for the romance part Orihime is in love with Ichigo, he [[DeclarationOfProtection swore that he would protect her]] ''and'' the ShipTease between the two increased through the arc itself, so despite them not being an OfficialCouple they fight together as if they had done so for years. [[spoiler: The DistantFinale has them HappilyMarried [[BabiesEverAfter with a little son]].]]

Syaoran decides to stay in Japan so he can help Sakura transform the Clow Cards into Sakura cards. On another note, Meiling would ''like'' to be this with Syaoran and they work well together but she's an [[ChildhoodFriendRomance Unlucky Childhood Friend]].

** Dauf and Riful also qualify for this. They met when they were both warriors, Dauf fell in love immediately, and Riful liked him at least. Perhaps they soon became a love couple. Later, however, they are seen only as Awakened Beings, which is why it is more a case of [[UnholyMatrimony Unholy Matrimony]].
* Kiri and Elraine in ''Manga/DoubleArts''. They even developed the {{Titl|eDrop}}ular ''Double Arts'' fighting style to fight while constantly connected. They are the official couple of their series and will never let go of each other. [[CantLiveWithoutYou No matter what]]. Elraine is afflicted with a special disease that killed a third of the world's population, and the only reason she isn't dead yet is because of Kiri's mysterious ability.

* ''LightNovel/HorizonInTheMiddleOfNowhere'': The lesbian witch couple Margot Knight and Malga Naruze. Working together they can take down a [[HumongousMecha God of War]] which is generally considered impossible by anything other than another God of War or a battleship.

** [[PuppyLove Erio and Caro]] from ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers''. While other {{ship|ping}}s had fought together, they're the two that are rarely seen in battle without the other. They're also a lot more dependent on each other than the other pairs; Caro powers up Erio and serves as the primary transportation, while Erio handles the actual combat. Finally, they're one of the few couples that's [[OfficialCouple official]], rather than just loads of ShipTease. They also double as a SiblingTeam (both were adopted by Fate, but they didn't meet each other until they were ten).

** As of chapter 252, TheMedic Konoka and her [[BodyguardCrush bodyguard]] Setsuna [[spoiler:form a Pactio]]. They are a LadyAndKnight pairing instead of the more-or-less platonic Negi and Asuna.

* Kirito and Asuna become one in the first arc of ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline''. Specially impressive in the anime, where seeing them fighting together, coordinating their attacks, is truly spectacular. Although it gets played down in the later arcs, as most of the stories usually keep them apart (most of the times, focusing on Kirito, although Asuna gets to be focus instead in the "''Mother's Rosario''" arc). However, whenever they ''do'' battle together, expect much pure, unadulterated awesomeness.

** Eventually, [[spoiler:[[PsychoForHire Claire]] and [[KnifeNut Chane]]]]; he proposed to her while they were fighting a mafia hitman on top of a train.

** The [[HugeGuyTinyGirl Curtis family]]. [[{{Housewife}} Izumi Curtis]], a powerful and impatient alchemist, and her husband, the [[TheBigGuy seven foot tall]] [[FaceOfAThug Sieg Curtis]]. Together, they run a butcher shop and kick so much ass, you could fill the ocean with it... unless they're [[TastesLikeDiabetes being lovey-dovey]]... and sometimes even then.

* Downplayed with Oga and Hilda in ''Manga/{{Beelzebub}}''. They're not a couple though almost everyone assumes Oga and Hilda are this trope. As of now, they definitely fight well together and are the surrogate parents of Baby Beel. So, it's a bad idea to mess with Baby Beel if Papa Wolf and Mama Bear are here.

* ''Anime/SenkiZesshouSymphogear'': Kirika and Shirabe from their introduction in ''Symphogear G'' are always together, forming a lesbian couple and perfectly complementing each other in battle.

* ''Franchise/SailorMoon'': One would think Sailor Moon herself and Tuxedo Kamen would be this, being the main characters, but this trope instead goes to [[SchoolgirlLesbians Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune]], who arrive together and usually attack in tandem. The former couple ''do'' fight as a unit once in a while, and in the ''Sailor Moon S'' anime their strong bond is what allows her to get the first of her {{Mid Season Upgrade}}s, but despite his efforts Tuxedo Kamen [[DistressedDude isn't up to par]] with [[ActionGirl Sailor Moon]] as much in the first anime.

* ''Manga/SoulEater'': This trope is a common fandom interpretation of the meister-[[EquippableAlly weapon]] partnerships. Shipping aside, canon does ''nothing'' to dissuade this [[YaoiGenre whatever your]] [[SchoolGirlLesbians pairing preferences]] in most cases. The only truly canon pairing of this nature is Maka's parents; her father was her mother's Weapon. As of the end of the series [[spoiler: Marie being pregnant with Stein's child would suggest they are the second canon example]].

* Played with in ''Manga/HowToTreatALadyKnightRight''. [[AmazonChaser Houli]] declares his love for [[WorldsBestWarrior Leo]] at the very beginning and becomes her battle partner on missions for the kingdom, but the two of them technically aren't a couple because [[SacrificedBasicSkillsForAwesomeTraining Leo's upbringing]] has left her completely cluless in anything beyond combat ([[whatIsThis let alone romance]]). [[spoiler:That said, Leo does come to realize her own feelings for Houli as the series progresses, and story ends with them still going on missions together as a married couple.]]
