[[AC:VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft]]
* ''VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft'' has the dubious distinction of creating music so epic that it took ''years'' for the developers to find a place in the game worthy of it: "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhrxGCMzRL0 The Shaping of the World]]".
* They learned their lesson in the ''Burning Crusade'' expansion, and had a specific quest in mind when writing "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbO66QPIFlc Lament of the Highborne]]".
* The music that plays in [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtQqxSKU0dE Shadowfang]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI5W2yuGHbo Keep]] is pretty darn awesome.
* The music in Arcanist Doan's room in the Scarlet Monastery. It plays elsewhere as well (including one place in the Molten Core). It's the last few seconds of a track called "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1XphAkdFxg Legacy]]" from the main game's [=OST=] (the rest of the piece isn't used).
* The [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXoFxYutRm4 newest log-in music]] is pretty awesome.
* Some of the ''Burning Crusade's'' ambient music is subdued but spectacular, be it the haunting swells of organs and strings in [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8IW1Qd-SE8 Terokkar Forest]], or the ominous chants of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFZMQyC1jJ8 Shadowmoon Valley]].
* The music for [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAME_nxccpM Shalandis Isle]] took new Blood Elf players by surprise, but in a very good way. It was so popular that Blizzard has since stuck it in Night Elf inns and the Temple of the Moon in Darnassus (possibly providing the first reason to [[ScrappyLevel hang around the city]]).
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLvsMi6I6Ro Sit back, buy a drink, set your Hearthstone, stay awhile!]]
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNVomngq-Qc A Call to Arms]] doesn't appear very often, but you've gotta love the epicness of the second half. And the nice lead-in from the first. An upgraded version of it appears in the ''Wrath of the Lich King'' [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFPT77FQ3vM#t=7m31s log-in music]].
* The distinctive leitmotif of Illidan Stormrage, found inside the Black Temple and in various places across Outland. (Unfortunately, the best examples can only be heard by going into the game's .mpq files.) A melody of ominous strings and bitter reed instruments.
* And then, there is [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86f_U_q4SFg Arthas, My Son]], that song playing behind the incredible intro cinematic for WOTLK.
** Or the more militarized [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn5j431zI_M Assault On New Avalon]] arrangement that serves as the Death Knight theme.
** Or just listen to everything in the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Euw5gJbtvE4 Arthas Medley]].
** The conclusion piece, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyIliL2Ciss Invincible]].
* The melodies of the Storm Peaks are quietly dignified and tend to give a feeling of sadness and great age. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xH1ERCemdZ4 Mountains of Thunder]] includes some of them.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-9Vla35woc The Culling of Stratholme]] for the Caverns of Time 4th dungeon.
* Silvermoon City is the only city to have separate music for [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsK5z96zE64 day]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA8XdeJAs7Q night]] (note that the first two minutes on those videos are the same, being the theme that plays in Falconwing Square regardless of the time of day). It's so awesome it made it into the title theme for both expansions!
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpyInx0ldfo Another beautiful piece of Northrend music]] can be found in the found in the Grizzly Hills, a gorgeous redwood forest with a distinct old American Midwest vibe, complete with lumberjacks, trappers, beavers, grizzly bears, and Native Americans-erm, trolls.
* The foreboding and gloomy theme of the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7n-f9iafm0 Un'Goro Crater and the Swamp of Sorrows]] is great, but the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8LB3aShZv8 Sholazar Basin]] theme is also good. Another theme that fits the zone is the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ham5gJWxLUM Burning Steppes]] theme: you can almost feel the heat. Unfortunately, the theme for the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JreM2xEyfJ0 Battle of Mount Hyjal]] was not used in the raid instance itself. Fortunately, the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMZ85HlW0es Karazhan]] theme did eventually appear in the game.
* The [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvKRNUEjStY Joust]] music, new to the game from Patch 3.1, is also pretty amazing.
* The eerie tribal music in Zul'Drak really sets the mood. Bonus points for the music around the altars of the troll gods, which features choirs chanting the respective gods' names.
* The latest background music to the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlSh1ZDlAbg Trial]] of the Champion/Crusader instance is incredible at setting the tone of the instance. It's a lot more noticeable than the music in many other dungeons.
* The newly introduced 5-Man Dungeons for Patch 3.3 have some very nice dramatic/epic sounding pieces. Such as [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ahoyn4R_lo The Forge of Souls Dungeon]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3jSY5fIeDA Boss Fight]] who [[spoiler:is an Expy of JamesBrown no less)]], or [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3rtxfyu_Hc The Pit of Saron]] which has so far been appraised as an improvement. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTUFxghzDoM The last of]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBx9VWryw4M the three new dungeons]] where [[spoiler:you finish with an escape from the [[BigBad Lich King]].]] Certainly doesn't disappoint in the [[OminousLatinChanting dramatic factor]] either.
* The ambiance music in the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HheNISaBHjc Auchindon]] is absolutely fantastic.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_jJtySnwpA The gunship encounter]] from Icecrown Citadel. Reused in Cataclysm and one scenario in MoP: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H__y5ewyQME Gunships.]]
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCuJiVctshc Tempest Keep's ambiance music]]. It's serene and kinda ominous at the same time. Perfect for a base full of pretty but villainous elves.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2-CabYoAUk The Antechamber of Ulduar]]. The majestic brass and haunting chants echoing through the ancient Titan fortress's vast halls and corridors... Perfection. Remade as [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9xKv6aS1v4 Thaurissans Reach]] in Cataclysm.
* And now the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-2ZGmF5ZH8 Cataclysm Main Theme]] has been put up on Youtube. Contains pieces of previous themes and zones.
* The theme for Stormwind definitely catches the heroic, righteous nature of the alliance. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYidb1LvMs8 Listen to it here]].
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj7LRDLpG4Q The Night Elves]] get a new theme in Cataclysm, and it is incredible.
* The new [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSjf5ChDDqQ Orgrimmar theme]]for Cataclysm is the perfect representation of the Horde.
* And a new entry into the rolls of music tracks that really shouldn't be bad guy themes, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YCyTinIMCY Breath of Al'Akir]] is the sweeping theme of Skywall. Sadly, the main place players will hear this piece is [[ScrappyLevel the Vortex Pinnacle]].
* The theme from the Cataclysm cinematic, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yvZue32m0Y Xaxas]]. Bonus points for awesome: the voices of the Old Gods!
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WOfhWkgKvE The Noble Tauren.]] Rest in peace, Cairne...
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFqVWvPr2yE Nightfall.]] The anthem for all Death Knights.
* Patch 4.3 released this [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Cl8MW-quzY awesomeness]]. It almost becomes AutobotsRockOut in some places, but it's done so incredibly well that you truly feel like you're fighting against a force that seeks to annihilate the entire world.
* The music from Mists of Pandaria gives off an Asian vibe while remaining true to Warcraft. And it is awesome.
** The new main theme [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bLwzMmGC6w Heart of Pandaria]].
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAjFoTuo0Es A singing panda.]] Move along.
* Warlords of Draenor's soundtrack is, from the serene tunes of Shadowmoon Valley and Frostfire Ridge, to the vibrant sounds of Gorgrond and the harsh barbaric and tribal tunes of the orc clans, just a glorious soundtrack.

* ''VideoGame/WarcraftII'': It's called simply [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6Za0rZs0Qk Human 1]], but the name is the only non-epic thing about it.
** "Human 1" got taken UpToEleven, literally, with a [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP5_VHpWhqs heavy metal remix]] in ''VideoGame/HeroesOfTheStorm''.

* The [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ndjcgfUbYg "First" Human song]] does a good job of tying together the overall medieval-kingdom-feel of the faction. Be sure to hear the track at 3:28, where is the music segues into what sounds like an anthem for the Human Alliance; it really encourages you to get your army moving into battle.
** From the ''Frozen Throne'' expansion, "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXajx7l4VxE Human 4]]", which sums up the state of the Alliance perfectly.
