* In the April 2017 video, we get to see a brand new way of eliminating Osana — by grabbing her MegaTwintails and sticking them into an industrial fan, resulting in her getting dragged into said fan and messily decapitated. Gory? Yes. Disturbing? Yes. ''Awesome''? Yes.

If you're unlucky and someone saw you - which, with over 90 students and several teachers patrolling the hallway at all times, is extremely difficult to avoid - you've got five minutes to get rid of all evidence implicating you. Doing so, especially when you've got a [[KillEmAll high body count]], is incredibly satisfying, as the cops are powerless to do anything and the students begin to fear for their lives.

** You wouldn't think the Gardening Club would be very impressive. Well, you would think wrong. Not only does everything Yan-chan does to hurt Rival-chan not even scratch the girl, but the sheer effort Yan-chan expends in her futile attempts is itself something to behold. Not even the Easter Eggs – Cyborg Mode and the Demonic Ritual – do a thing to her.

** You wouldn't think the Gardening Club would be very impressive. Well, you would think wrong. ** After Matchmaking was further refined in October 2016, this also became true of couples you set up together. Seeing [[TheChewToy Kokona]] of all people take down Yan-chan is extremely satisfying, considering the eighteen months of torture she had to endure at the hands of her creator and thousands of players.

*** Also, other students have a WeirdnessCensor when it comes to the Occult Club, meaning it'll take them significantly longer to notice you. Great for getting those elusive panty shots without getting caught - or slipping past witnesses while armed and covered in blood. Like Oka herself, it's understated awesome.

* In the June 1st 2016 build, you can help Kokona out by [[spoiler:kidnapping the daughter of the loan shark who's been sucking money out of her father, and holding her ransom until he agrees to clear all debts]]. There's something so satisfying about getting to see [[ButtMonkey Kokona's]] issues finally resolved.

** Unintentional, but still an awesome moment: if you pair Kokona and [[spoiler:Riku]] together, they will be holding hands on the way to school every morning thereafter. In the first few builds after it was implemented, if you then kidnapped Kokona and made her a mindslave, Riku would still hold her hand anyway, like the most dedicated and loving boy in school. What a guy.

* Now that Osana has officially been released as of August 31st, 2020, the player now gets to play Osana's equivalent arc: [[spoiler:Osana is being harassed by a stalker, because the stalker thinks Osana resembles his favorite anime character Miyuki. Normally Osana would call the police, but the stalker has kidnapped Osana's cat as leverage so Osana can't call the police on him. To befriend Osana, Ayano can sneak into the stalker's house, make her way past the stalker's sister, father, and mother, and finally sneak into the stalker's bedroom and retrieve the cat. Once Osana has her cat back, if Ayano doesn't betray her, Osana will voluntarily agree to stay away from Senpai for the sake of Ayano's feelings.]]

** The first possibility is [[spoiler:using a screwdriver to take the cover off a fan and then feeding one of Osana's pigtails into the fan so Osana gets decapitated.]]

* [=YandereDev=] loves fanworks. He said in 2017 that one of his life goals was to create something people would make fanart or videos or cosplay of. Obviously, he succeeded beyond his wildest dreams, which is extremely awesome considering ''[=YanSim=]'' still doesn't even have a demo.
** He's said many times showing him fanwork is pretty much the ''only'' thing he wants people emailing him about other than bug reports. He is known to comment on works he likes – be it on deviantArt or Youtube – which is almost invariably met with this sort of response by the work's creator:

* This game has acquired the type of fanbase that takes great pleasure in modding the everloving hell out of it. Many of the earliest examples [[https://youtu.be/O6Reu7-s5E4 (like this one that swaps Kokona and Ayano)]] are fairly simple texture or JSON mods ([[https://jsonformatter-online.com/ JSON formatter]]). But others are ''far'' more elaborate, and thus awesome in their own right.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt4GAyZM70kk9-brR0WLRMw kgftbz]], who clearly has a good deal of experience with coding, has created a number of well-regarded transformative mods of the game.
*** Most notably, he created the "Pose Mod" which [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin allows Yan-chan to spawn and manipulate any character]] to create interesting scenes. This gained the ApprovalOfGod as [=YandereDev=] admitted in a video that he liked the mod so much that he wanted to put a version of it in the game officially. A couple months later, he did just that (though the unofficial version is still more robust).
*** Earlier, he created the "Horror Mod", which is a short NintendoHard game where Yan-chan must spend three days in a nightmare of dark atmosphere, maximum insanity, and [[EldritchAbomination evil white spectres]] chasing you. This one was also later added to the official game (sort of) in the form of the Easter Egg "Horror Prototype." In the official version, it's Nemesis chasing you, and you're in the school at night with nothing but a flashlight.
*** Before that, he created the "Osana Mod", an attempt to allow players to finally have a win condition (which the real game still lacks) by killing "Osana"[[note]](actually Yuna Hina with her look and pathfinding altered)[[/note]]. It was also made [[NintendoHard much tougher]] than the real game – Senpai's aura is ''doubled'' in size; his own fuse is much shorter[[note]](in the actual game, if you're not being yandere, you have to annoy Senpai five times before he'll yell at you; in this mod, he tells you to take a hike on annoyance #2)[[/note]]; gossiping hurts you more and counts for less[[note]](in the actual game, gossiping does two points of damage to your target's reputation but three points to yours, and the gossip buff reverses that ratio; in this mod, without buffs, gossip only deals one point of damage to Osana's rep but ''five'' points to yours)[[/note]]; useful club benefits are disabled[[note]](masks don't conceal your identity and the painter's smock doesn't fool anyone into thinking blood is red paint)[[/note]]; and anyone witnessing your crimes (even if you get rid of all evidence) leads to an immediate GameOver.
** The Pose Mod has been used as a base for several other mods and even short games. Youtuber [=GZeus=] Kriest created a short ([[NintendoHard and brutally difficult]]) horror game called "Escape From FUN GIRL", in addition to several other wonderfully bizarre mods before his retirement.

*** He created the "Size Mod", which allowed the player [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin to grow or shrink Yan-chan]]. Doing this created clipping issues and allowed players to enter the locked Info Club room to get a close-up look at Info-chan. Somewhat ''less'' awesome was that [=YandereDev=] specifically inserted code to disable this mod because dumb kids kept sending him bug reports about this thing he didn't create and it annoyed him. Pikachuk found a workaround, but opted to move on to other projects.
*** He [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MZOS3tGXXo modded Yandere-chan]] as a model swap for Lucina in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Wii U''. He didn't just swap the model, though; he added character portraits, palette swaps, her own victory theme (custom made by the composer of much of ''Yandere Simulator'''s original music), and even got her voice actress to do in-game lines specifically for the mod! [[UpToEleven They went whole hog for this mod]], and it shows!
*** His final, greatest achievement before he retired from modding to work on engine-building and music, was the "Survival Mod". In it, you are [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin running around Akademi to avoid the Nemeses constantly spawning every few seconds that chase you down and try to kill you]]. As the seconds tick by, this mod gets [[NintendoHard utterly insane]] as you find yourself facing down ''literally hundreds'' of Nemeses. And it's ranked. You can't get an S-rank unless you manage to survive for about twenty minutes, by which point there are some '''''300 Nemeses''''' roaming around the school.
** Although it has since morphed into a game on its own terms, ''Hiwata no Nadoko ~ Bullied Simulator'' started as a ''[=YanSim=]'' mod, albeit with nearly everything except the basic code altered – unique characters, unique story, different uniforms[[note]](still one of the Game Asset Studio model's defaults, but not one used in ''[=YanSim=]'' itself)[[/note]], different music, altered NPC AI, and the creators managed to mess with the HUD/UI to the point that [=YandereDev=] admitted he was impressed.
*** Different members of the ''Bullied'' team have said different things about [=YanDev's=] opinion of the game, specifically whether he approves of its existence or not. This may be why the team opted to change the school environment to one not ripped directly from ''[=YanSim=]''. [[note]]Dev generally has no problem with people modding his game, as long as no one emails him about mod-based bugs or charge money. He has a much bigger problem with people stealing what he feels are his ideas – he specifically cited ''Yandere School'' (an ad-supported mobile game made by a Ukrainian team that, although it uses none of ''[=YanSim's=]'' assets, is clearly inspired by ''[=YanSim=]'' and its differences are mostly superficial) as a shallow bastardization. That ''[=YanSchool=]'' will probably be finished long before ''[=YanSim=]'' doesn't help. By contrast, [=HnN=] openly claims inspiration from ''[=YanSim=]'' but tries to be different in everything except the basic kill-one-rival-per-week structure (a format [=YanDev=] didn't invent).[[/note]]
** Special mention goes to [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoIV0N0w8pxwEXekBhAJS7g Monsterette's]] mods, many of which morph the school to a specific theme (such as an official rival). Said mods not only include simple texture switches, but also outright change models and other details – including students, weapons, the vending machines, blood puddles, and the loading screen, among other things. Some of them even open with quick cut-scenes. The amount of detail and thought put into them is impressive.
*** He made one to celebrate Summer 2017 that is simply called "Pool Party". It is ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin – the entire school is hanging out at the then-new swimming pool and everyone is wearing non-school swimsuits, all of which are unique (except for the classroom teachers). Monsterette could have just left it at that, but he also retextured the completely empty school to make the doors bamboo and the roof look like water… and as usual turned the vending machine into a trademark IncrediblyLamePun. He also replaced some stock dialog with more fitting (and hilarious) lines.

** The only downside of the game's switchover to C# and Unity 5 is that all mods of the game (based on the old JS/[=U4=] codebase) immediately became obsolete and unplayable. Fans mourned the loss of mods – which played a ''huge'' role in sustaining the fanbase and Youtubers during the long wait for Osana. Cue [[https://youtu.be/qsRxF3_0Zu4 a video from Pikachuk]] declaring that ''[=YanSim=]'' modding is NOT dead because he refuses to ''let'' it die. That video shows his progress in porting his modding engine to the game's new codebase so that players will soon be able to mod again. He also stated in the comments that he had contacted kgftbz and requested the Pose Mod be ported to the new codebase as well.
*** Even though he'd officially stopped modding, he created a quick mod to test out his engine. In the same video tied to the post, he states that releasing the other nine rivals should take nowhere near as long as this, since most of the code required for them to function is in the game making Osana function; the game is now, in his words. "91% complete": 90% is gameplay, 10% is story; with Osana in, that's 1%.

For a game that still lacks even an official demo, to say nothing of an actual beta, there are a lot of awesome things about it – in the game itself, within the development videos, and from the game's dedicated fanbase.

** The voice acting in the cassette tapes is especially good. [[spoiler:The Journalist's]] description of [[spoiler:Ryoba]] is spine-chilling, and the character progression of [[spoiler:the Headmaster]] is fascinating to listen to.

* Genka Kunahito, the school's guidance counselor, is willing to [[spoiler:risk her entire career]] for the wellbeing of her students, staking [[spoiler:her job]] on [[spoiler:being able to reform the delinquents within 8 weeks]] - this because [[spoiler:she feels responsible for their destructive path, having done nothing to stop the bullying that nearly drove them to a suicide pact]]. We've all had [[ApatheticTeacher bad]] (or [[SadistTeacher worse]]) teachers who [[spoiler:ignored or played down bullying]], and the fact that she is willing to sacrifice so much to [[spoiler:[[TheAtoner atone for]] such actions]] is pretty awesome.
* Megami Saikou will get a SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome during her week. Unlike all other rivals, she appears to [[spoiler:know who Yan-chan is and what she's capable of]]. So what does she do? She [[spoiler:disobeys her father's orders]] and uses her StudentCouncilPresident abilities to make life difficult in as many ways as she can. She will [[spoiler:install security cameras, hire security guards, institute a zero-tolerance policy]], ''everything'' to make sure [[spoiler:Yan-chan is caught]].

* The July update gives a proper identity to the "Mysterious Obstacle" that is keeping you from taking out Osana right there and then - none other than [[spoiler:Rival-chan, renamed ([[PunnyName sorta]]) Raibaru Fumetsu]]. She is Osana's best friend, and an absolute badass. In the JSON files, her Self-Defense rating is listed as "Invincible", meaning that [[spoiler:if you attack her, or Osana when she is present, she will instantly pin you down and ''break your arm'' in ''two places'', regardless of your Strength stat]].
** [[spoiler:Raibaru]] is also the [[spoiler:former leader of the Martial Arts Club,]] and was [[spoiler:completely undefeated until Budo came along]]. Imagine [[spoiler:her tiny frame, bouncy pigtails, and cutesy TaremeEyes ''kicking the ass'' of every single student who dared to challenge her]].

* Osoro Shidesu, the Delinquent leader, is a walking SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome. To give you an idea of just how dangerous she is, she is stated to be the [[WorldsStrongestMan strongest student at school]]. Yes, even stronger than Budo - and yes, even stronger than [[spoiler:Raibaru]]. She is the eighth rival, meaning that eventually Yan-chan will have to face her - and will be one of her most challenging enemies. Her initial introduction was via a teaser from [=YandereDev=] in the video that introduced the Placeholder Delinquents. The camera pans slowly up to reveal her standing with her back turned, with flames surrounding her and her CoatCape gently flapping in DramaticWind. You just know she's going to be a great challenge.

* [[WordOfGod [=YandereDev=] has stated]] that in the final game, there may be a character who is capable of outright ''killing'' Ayano, after an extended period of emotional torment. It's [[spoiler:''Senpai''.]] Yes, that's right, the biggest [[spoiler:NiceGuy - and ExtremeDoormat]] in the game may [[RoaringRampageofRevenge snap]] if you put [[spoiler:him]] through too much. (That means [[spoiler:killing too many of your rivals]], and especially [[spoiler:killing [[PatientChildhoodLoveInterest Osana]] or [[LittleSisterHeroine Hanako]].]]
* In the video detailing [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydIf-EAmn0c Yan-chan's childhood]], it's revealed that Ayano's father [[spoiler:tried to get mental health treatment for Ayano when she was younger]]. It may not seem like much, but consider this: Mr. Aishi, a man who was [[spoiler:kidnapped, [[HenpeckedHusband walked-on]], probably [[RapeAsBackstory raped]], and subject to who knows what else by Ryoba for years, was able to openly act against her]]. One scene even implies he [[spoiler:got into arguments with Ryoba]] over it. You have to admit, that's a pretty ballsy thing for someone in his position to even ''think'' about.

* [[spoiler:Raibaru]] is a walking SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome. She exists to make it more difficult to eliminate Osana, and so you'd think her presence might be annoying or frustrating. Not so. Her backstory and the sheer ''badassery'' with which she will take you down makes it impossible to hate her.
** If you attack her directly - or even through a sneak attack - she will [[spoiler:[[SpiderSense sense your presence]] as a literal manga panel pops up showing electricity crackling around her head, then turn around, grab your arms, slam you down onto the ground and ''break your arm in two places,'' complete with an especially dramatic ScareChord.]]

* If you dismember five bodies and place their arms in the Occult Club's Sacred Circle as of the [[BlatantLies "Totally Normal"]] Update, you [[spoiler:slowly float up with blank white eyes as demonic arms sprout out of the ground. You can then rampage through the school as the arms rip everyone (except Senpai) to shreds.]] [[NightmareFuel Terrifying]], but also so ''satisfying''.
** If you heat up the Ritual Knife with a blowtorch, kill a student with the hot knife, and then insert the hot, bloody knife into the skull, [[spoiler:the Flame Demon will [[FlamingSword set your knife on fire]]]], meaning that any student you stab with it will instantly ''catch on fire and die a screaming death.'' Horrible, but ''awesome.''

** If you kill all the club leaders and drag them inside of the ritual circle, [[spoiler:the Empty Demon will thank you for "reclaiming our birthright."]] The next day, [[spoiler:all the club leaders will have been replaced by empty husks, also known as the Placeholder Club Leaders of earlier builds.]] The awesome comes in that [[spoiler:Yandere-chan will have a horrible spider-thing on her back, and will be able to target any student of her choice for the husks to ''devour alive.'']]

** Nemesis becomes even more awesome when you read her backstory manga, which reveals that [[spoiler:she's actually a [[TookALevelInBadass screwed-up]] alternate [[AlternateUniverseReedRichardsIsAwesome version]] of ''Hanako Yamada'']].
