His actor Brian Dennehy's grounded performance makes him not as campy, stereotypical or absurd as the later [[EvilIsHammy villains]].

* Rambo, faking his death after his helicopter is shot down, gets up and blows up [[BigBad Podovsky's]] helicopter with a rocket launcher.
* Upon confronting Murdock at the end, Rambo shoots the place up and slams his knife between Murdock's fingers, coolly telling him to get on with finding the rest of the POW's, or else.
* Rambo's speech to Trautman at the end.

* One of the most awesome moments is the entire climax, in which [[TheWarSequence Rambo and Trautman face off against the entire Soviet military]] plus their leader [[BigBad Zaysen]] who is piloting a helicopter. And halfway during the battle, [[BigDamnHeroes the Mujahideen rebels arrive and attack the Soviets]]. The scene climaxes with Rambo fighting Zaysen personally in a tank, then ramming the tank into Zaysen's helicopter.
