* It's hard to imagine nowadays, but when Jim Ross first started working for WWE, he was shunned big time by pretty much the entire roster, mostly because of the fact that he had come in from WCW and had been so closely associated with that company. Monsoon, recognizing that Ross had been in the business long before he worked for WCW, called a meeting and fiercely called everyone out for their behavior. From that point on, things were different. To this day Ross fondly recalls Monsoon sticking up for him and mentoring him in his early WWE days.

* Monsoon was so instrumental to the backstage management of shows, WWE to this day literally calls the producer spot just behind the curtain the “Gorilla Position.”

* When Monsoon finally gave [[JerkAss gadfly]] Bobby Heenan his comeuppance (kayfabe). He came down to the commentary table, told Bobby he was fired, physically dragged him through the back and then quite literally threw him out of the arena. Turns out it was entirely Heenan's idea, believing it would be the perfect way to end their on-camera rivalry. Once the cameras stopped taping, [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments the two men embraced and said their goodbyes]].

* Shortly after Vader's debut in the then-WWF, Monsoon, in his on camera role as Commissioner, came down to halt Vader's post match beatdown of a referee on an episode of Monday Night Raw. Vader advanced threateningly on Monsoon... [[NervesOfSteel who proceeded to back Vader up into the corner of the ring]]. The crowd went berserk at this, especially when Vader tried it again, [[BadassGrandpa only to have Gorilla chop him back into the corner again!]]
