* AdaptationalProtagonist: In ''ComicBook/TheInfinityGauntlet'', the Avengers are basically there to help up the death toll and make for an exciting battle with the all-but-godlike Thanos. In particular, Iron Man has his head unceremoniously pulled off and Captain America is the last man standing before Thanos shatters his shield and snaps his neck. Instead, Adam Warlock is the one who plans and finally carries out a plan to bring Thanos down. When the story was adapted into the events of ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar'' and ''Avengers: Endgame'', the Avengers take center stage, with Iron Man being the one to put Thanos down once and for all; at this point in the MCU, Adam Warlock had yet to exist aside from a cameo in ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2'', and would not surface until the aftermath in ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3''.

* BrokenAesop: Steve Rogers hosts a support group for people who lost loved ones to the genocide of Thanos. He tells them that loss is a natural part of life and that sooner or later one needs to start moving forward, using his own loss of Peggy Carter as an example. At the end of the film when the Avengers have perfected the science behind time travel, Steve goes back and reunites with a young and living Peggy. So in other words Steve's whole viewpoint is dictated entirely by his options.

* BackportedDevelopment: When revisiting the events of ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'', Thor acts much more like his jokey and relaxed self as seen in ''Film/ThorRagnarok'', rather than the more serious ProudWarriorRaceGuy he was in that movie. Furthermore, The Hulk is shown ranting about stairs in his traditional HulkSpeak, a sharp contrast to how most of his vocalizations in ''The Avengers'' were beastly roars (discounting his infamous "Puny god" one liner).
