''Lupin III: The First'' (2019) is [[{{Pun}} the first]] [[ShiftedToCGI CG animated]] ''Franchise/LupinIII'' theatrical release (though not the first CG production, that would be the short bundled with the ''Lupin: Master File'' 40th Anniversary box set). The film was directed by Takashi Yamazaki, and is a co-production between Creator/TMSEntertainment (through Marza Animation Planet) and Creator/{{Shirogumi}}.

It follows Arsene Lupin III as he goes after "The Bresson Diary", the only thing that his grandfather ever failed to steal, which supposedly leads to a hidden treasure.

** Dodging the blasts of a deadly LaserHallway is meant to be a callback to ''Anime/TheMysteryOfMamo'', the first Lupin III motion picture. Lupin's attire in this movie (red jacket, yellow tie, black shirt and black pants) is also the same he wore in ''Mamo''.

** Uh, Fujiko, we know you're a strong girl, but how heavy is an airplane-mounted Lewis Gun? Why are you holding the exposed barrel like a rifle stock? And why is its pan magazine not rotating when you're firing it?

* VariableTerminalVelocity: After [[spoiler:Gerard throws Laetitia out of the plane]], Lupin dives out after her and is able to catch up to her mid-air.

** Tricking Nazis by [[spoiler: dressing up as Hitler]] may [[Recap/LupinIIIS2E3 sound familiar, too]].

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:Lupin's clearing the trials to get to the Eclipse allows Gerard and Lambert to follow in their wake, overpower the gang, and take the Eclipse for themselves.]]

* BadBoss: When Professor Lambert realizes that the ruins they're exploring may be booby-trapped, he decides to send one of their underlings, [[RedShirt Hans]], first. Not surprisingly, Hans is killed off. Even worse, once Eclipse is secured, Lambert and Geralt abandon their goons altogether. The lack of gunners on the plane comes back to bite them hard.

* BondVillainStupidity: Great idea, Geralt and Lambert, just fly away with the Eclipse without ordering your underlings to get back to the plane. It's not like Lupin and his friends can slip their ropes and stop you or anything...

[[spoiler:He then dies TakingTheBullet for [[LoveRedeems his adopted (grand)daughter Laetitia]] when Geralt attempts to eliminate her.]]

* RunningGag: If Lupin touches, looks at, or so much as acknowledges another character's gun, the next time they attempt to use it they'll discover that he's stolen all of their bullets. [[spoiler:Especially notable when "Hitler" takes an interest in Gerald's Mauser and gets to hold it offscreen for a few seconds...]]
