* CentralTheme: ThePowerOfFriendship. Not like other ''Aikatsu!'' properties haven't relied upon it before, but the tagline for this series states that it's going to be "Aikatsu you can do with your Friends!" emphasizing its importance in the new story.

** This also fits just about every other unit as well.

* AllegedLookalikes: Though Sakura and Kaguya are twin sisters, their hair colors are reversed, they wear different hair accessories, and they have different personalities making it easy to tell them apart. Despite this, on first meeting with Kaguya, Mio is confused and believes she's speaking with Sakuya.

* CharacterShilling: Pure Palette gets quite a bit of lee-way compared to other Friends units. Honey Cat are often seen making stronger appeals, pushing each other to their limits, and interacting with their fans outside of their ridiculously busy schedules making their accomplishments justified. Pure Palette on the other hand often are a step behind Honey Cat in terms of raw performance, so other characters will play up their [[PowerOfFriendship 'Frienergy']] or dress designs to drive home the point that they're likely to be the favorite to becoming Diamond Friends.
** [[spoiler: The Best Friends Cup displays the amount of shilling Pure Palette receive in full force. Honey Cat pull off a Miracle Appeal, one step above a Friends Appeal and the first time it's been shown in series, and successfully complete the trials first. Pure Palette very nearly miss the timing to perform on stage but when they do, perform in a new dress that essentially mixes and matches two previous sets of dresses they wore. Despite the event slating to only allow one unit to move forward, Pure Palette earn a spot along with Honey Cat on the basis of having created "unprecedentedly perfect Best Friends Dresses".]]

Added DiffLines:

* LightDarknessJuxtaposition: Reflect Moon and its members, Sakuya and Kaguya, have this type of contrast going on. Invoked in series as Kaguya's brand, Moon Maiden, was made as a direct complement to Sakuya's Luna Witch. Moon Maiden features outfits using bright colors like white and gold as a base, while Luna Witch emphasizes black and dark blue.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Aine's hair is mostly pink, while Mio's hair is literally blue with a purple ombre. Maika also has pinkish violet hair. Sakuya has blue-silver hair with an indigo ombre, while her sister Kaguya's hair is reversed in order. Nana also has pale pink hair.

* TheWorfEffect: The Brilliant Friends Cup had Baby Pirates, the previous finalists against Love Me Tear, and Pure Palette (Aine and Mio's group said to be quickly rivaling Love Me Tear) competing. [[spoiler: Both teams are quite decisively defeated by Reflect Moon, consisting of Sakuya who only recently debuted and Kaguya who was debuting for the first time.]]

* RomanticTwoGirlFriendship: The idea of Friends units in general seem to revolve around this idea. Episode 11 pulls out all the stops with this concept and Mio ends up taking Coco's advice to confess at a Ferris wheel which Coco illustrated the concept with images of boy-girl couples.
