K: Moving this here. I'll concede Kurama is damn near invincible up to a certain point, but he's not boring about it. His basic strategy is "stand there and get beaten up until I find the perfect weakness to exploit." ^_^ Not to mention he lost the Karasu fight on a technicality (didn't get up before Juri finished the count or something), despite killing him.

  • Boring Invincible Hero: For much of the series, Kurama is pretty much unbeatable, barely even getting a SCRATCH. Hell, he beats one of the villains in the Tournament, while completely immobilized, by using his HAIR.
    • 'Scuse me? He gets jacked up plenty.
    • The fight immediately after the mentioned fight, he gets tons of flesh wounds and nearly kills himself to defeat Touya. Then, he's unconscious but still in the ring, and he nearly gets slaughtered by that dude with the mist attack. And he gets severely owned in the Karasu fight. He easily gets hurt the worst of the finals, even more than Yusuke.

Sir Psycho Sexy: I kind of take issue with just Kurama and Hiei being listed under Ho Yay. This series is pretty much slathered in it: Kuwabara's Homoerotic Dream and his being The Rival to Yusuke; Yusuke and the Big Bad's Foe Yay (most notably Younger Toguro and Sensui); the subtext between Yusuke and anyone he defeats, including Kurama and Hiei...yeah. (Plus, in my humble opinion, Sensui is like a big old Ho Yay bomb. Yusuke, Kuwabara, Itsuki (his canon BF), Hagiri, Koenma, etc.)

Can somebody please elaborate on the Adaptation Decay/Distilation examples?

  • Well, off the top of my head: in the manga, Yusuke has a few chapters full of adventures (while he's still dead) that don't show up in the beginning of the anime... it's hinted his mom has ties to the yakuza... his mom comes with the girls to watch the Dark Tournament... There's a bonus chapter about how Hiei and Kurama met up (featuring Kurama's only canon possible love interest)... The end of the manga also elaborates a bit more on back story, as well (I think), but I haven't gotten that far yet...

Sir Psycho Sexy says:

Dammit, it sucks I can't find a trope for Yomi. Any help?

Regiment: The page seems schizophrenic about whether or not Muroka's gender is a spoiler or not. Someone more familiar with the series, help me out. I'd say it should be spoiler-tagged, but it's always annoying to have

  • Trope: nothing but spoiler tags.

What do the WikiMagicians think?

Rakuen: The consensus of my friends is that it's not much of a spoiler. So I have unspoiled the two applicable entries. - 08/02/09

Is all the stuff under Byronic Hero and '90s Anti-Hero really necessary? Yusuke is undoubtedly a flawed Anti-Hero, but it's not like he's without his good qualities and humanity.
