Why does this entire community seem to treat FLCL like a completely pointless, intentionally plotless and nonsensical mess? The surrealism is a pretty big part of its charm, but truth be told anyone who's ever sat through Kazuya Tsurumaki's DVD commentary should be able to tell that quite a bit of effort and thought went into the story and writing. I find it absolutely mind-boggling that so many people managed to sit through the entire thing while missing so much obvious, completely in-your-face symbolism.

It's about puberty, for christ's sake. All the crazy sci-fi stuff isn't meant to make any kind of logical sense; just think of it metaphorically and it'll suddenly add up. It's also got a pretty clear message that's pretty much hammered into your face near the end.

Honestly, I think this article could use a pretty huge revamp.

Chrome Newfie: I can find no reference that Hideaki Anno had anything to do with FLCL; rather, it appears to be the work of his protege, Kazuya Tsurumaki.

Ununnilium: You seem to be right; weird. Suppose I'll have to take that out, then.

YYZ: The only thing Anno did on this series was voice acting. He's the cat.

Sillybear25: Should the FLCL manga be listed on a separate page? I've read it (and added examples of many of the tropes in it), and it's almost, but not entirely, unlike the anime. It's darker, more serious, completely diverges from the storyline, and introduces new tropes which do not exist in the anime version (again, I added examples on the relevant trope pages). While I have put the trope examples, most of them are written as "The FLCL Manga", where, if there were a separate page for the manga, they would likely be written as "FLCL The Manga", which would be far more relevant; again, many of the tropes are not in the original anime. Wow, this was a bit longer than I thought it would be...

Charred Knight: We generally don't list adaptions as separate pages unless they are really popular, and the manga simply doesn't have the popularity.

Burai: Regarding ...
Yandere (Haruko, Mamimi and Ninamori)
"Yandere" is, hyperbriefly, when you love someone and it drives you crazy. However you characterize Haru's relationship with Naota, she was pretty much nuts from the get-go, and on the other side, Ninamori isn't really all that crazy — just immature. (Being, y'know, a kid.)

Anyone notice that Robot looks vaguely like Halo's Master Chief ?

Sean Tucker: GRAAH WHAT IS IT WITH YOU PEOPLE. Quit removing I Am Not Making This Up if you're going to leave the sub-bullets or context in, it leaves a portion of the article completely nonsensical if no one comes in and fixes it.

ninjacrat: 'you people' == script

BritBllt: Not that it's a new addition or anything, but I've still got to say... damn, that is an awesome pic. Kudos to whoever found and added it to the page!
tkdb: There's no It Just Bugs Me! page for FLCL, so I'm gonna put this here. In episode 3, when Ninamori is first shown with glasses, you can clearly see the lenses. However, at the end of the episode, she explains "They're fake" and puts her finger through the frame to illustrate. Minor plothole, I know, but...well, It Just Bugs Me!.

BritBllt: She secretly wears real glasses (that's what she was wearing earlier in the episode), but she was wearing a pair of fake glasses combined with her usual contacts during the play. It's just a gag about how she's edging closer towards being herself by the end of the episode, but she's still not quite there yet.
