  • What happened to X, Starman3, and SMG4's other Palette Swap friends? They seem to have been Put on a Bus. Why?
    • My only guess is that, as the series gradually became Denser and Wackier, SMG4 realized that he couldn't do a whole lot with his friends, due to the fact that they were almost completely interchangeable from his character. That being said, they still pop up every once in a while, just not as frequently.
    • A few other factors may have contributed as well. SMG4 leaving the YouTube Rangers was probably one of the biggest reasons. There is also the popular theory that SMG4 wanted to focus on the Mario characters more and thus began phasing out the YouTube Rangers. There is also the fact that many of the YouTubers formerly featured have either become obscurenote  or quit being SM64 Machinimists altogethernote . That being said, they still make cameos every now and then and "Seaside Stupidity" featured FightingMario54321 and X heavily.
    • Starman3's is explained, though. He is no longer a character in SMG4 due to many controversies. Not sure about the other two.
    • Enzo has stated that the reason SMG4 doesn't use the YouTube Rangers anymore is because he wanted to make his own story rather than using other YouTubers. Enzo is fine with this and asks that fans stop bothering Luke about it.
    • X is the judge for WOTFI, so there's that.
    • This is given a Cerebus Retcon in the 10th anniversary movie, having revealed that the Mario Palette Swap characters have been systematically hunted down and robbed of their faces by Zero.
    • The above episode also ends with all of the Mario recolours except SMG4, SMG3, X, and FM being relocated to a small hidden neighborhood titled "Bloopersville" for their own safety, explaining why they still don't appear after Zero's defeat.
  • How come the squirrels from Area 64 didn’t recognize Mario or Bowser? Considering that they know about the Disk Drive and kept the original Super Mario 64 Luigi in lock up, wouldn’t they know who MARIO is?
    • Considering Mario managed to pass as a gun cleaner, the squirrel soldiers are probably too dumb to tell the real deal apart from all the other beta/cut content hidden away. Sarge certainly recognized Mario, but he didn't know Mario was there until he checked the cameras.
  • Where was Bowser during the Anime Arc? isn't he part of the main cast in the SMG4 universe? He was present for some episodes in the Waluigi and Rapper Bob Arcs, so where were was he during the Anime Arc? Sure Bowser was there for the funeral, but where was he for the rest of the arc?
    • It's revealed in "A Day In The Life Of Everyone" that he was kidnapped by SMG3 and held captive for a month.
      • "A Day In The Life Of Everyone" came out a month after the last episode of the Anime Arc. By that logic, he was kidnapped the month following.
    • On another note, where was Toad?
      • Toad may have had his own troubles to deal with.
      • Yeah, screw Toad.
  • Why didn't Tari use her robot arm for combat purposes? Is she just as clueless as Rhys?
    • Provided that the robot arm shares the origin with the Metarunner series, the robot arm is likely untested for being a reliable asset in combat. Tari is intended to be a careful person and, as such, resolves not to take the risk even if she's angered or in danger.
    • Also, other characters have to convince her each time she uses a weapon or sports equipment based on a weapon that she has to pretend she's playing a video game. Otherwise she is unable to actually hit the target.
  • SMG4 usually runs on Negative Continuity regarding deaths and grievous injuries. So why is it that Desti is an exception?
    • Maybe because that death was part of a Myth Arc.
    • Perhaps the anime replicas can cause irreversible death.
  • In the Weegee Uprising, New Super Duper Mario Plus Ultra is part of a generation 500 years after the start of the episode. Who could Mario (and obviously, all of his descendants) have possibly reproduced with (no, not Meggy)?
    • Mario is shown to be attracted to spaghetti, so probably his and his descendants wives are off-screen background characters which are either good at making spaghetti or have an appearance similar to spaghetti. Lots of SMG4verse characters are bumbling weirdos which would make sense why they would not judge Mario, so that makes it easier for Mario to end up with someone during the overall crisis that is Weegee Uprising. Also Mario is more competent and slightly nicer during actual serious situations, so that would probably make him a bit more attractive to a regular bumbling citizen.
  • How does Bob know about the Ultimate Meme if SMG4 made it just seconds prior?
    • Similar to Lord of the Rings, which the episode is based on, Bob could've looked at some detail on the USB and realized exactly what it was.
  • What's with the inconsistency in voice acting for the SMG4 cast? Some characters have their lines all in text with some sound bytes acting as their "voice" while others have fully voiced lines. Like, why does Mario talk in text and sound bytes, but not Fishy Boopkins? It's even weirder when it comes to purely original characters such as Tari and Axol. Why don't they get fully voiced lines? Lastly, has anyone else noticed that Bob, Boopkins, and Shroomy are the only characters, at least the reoccurring ones, that don't have closed captions when they talk? What's with that?
    • Mario can only talk in sound bytes, as SMG4 and Glitch Pro. would rather not bothering Charles Martinet just to get him to voice SMG4 Mario. Same thing for other VAs — they can't devote all their time for SMG4 alone, because they either have other projects are busy with other things. As for the characters who don't have subtitles whenever they talk... I don't know.
    • All Nintendo characters speak only in game voice clips for fairly obvious reasons. Characters like Meggy and Tari have actual voice actors, but speak in small clips so that the creators can reuse clips to save time and money, rather than dragging the voice actors in to voice every bit of dialogue every time. Characters like Bob, Swag and Chris can speak fully because they're voiced by Synthetic Voice Actors, so recording their dialogue is as simple as typing some words, then saving the created audio file. Lastly, characters like Axol, SMG4 and Boopkins can speak fully because they're voiced by either Kevin or Luke, the co-creators who both work full time on the series, who thus can be available to record lines pretty much whenever.
  • Is Greg Killed Off for Real or is his death temporary and Played for Laughs?
  • Why does SMG3 want to use the YouTube remote to erase SMG4 from existence? Aside from destroying the production set. Didn't they make up in I Can't Believe It's Not SMG4?
  • Given how most of SMG3's reacted to Mario getting sent to the Internet Graveyard. Doesn't that contradict their (especially Rob and Jubjub) actions in Deleted?
    • They might be doing it partially out of fear but they don't show it. With SMG3 being a Reality Warper, it kinda makes sense, knowing they themselves could easily be wiped out of existence. Notice how none of them seem particularly thrilled to attend his meetings or carry out his plans.
  • At the end of [Texture Not Found] revealing that non-texture clones were created by E. Gadd, because SMG3 wanted to have SMG4's Gang clones. But why E. Gadd created SMG3's Gang clones? I don't think that SMG3 wanted them.
  • If the entire plot of the 2020 Christmas Special was all just a story SMG3 was telling the Ugandan Knuckles, then how would he have known about Melony's human transformation?
    • SMG3's gig is stealing SMG4's ideas. Back when SMG3 wasn't stuck in internet graveyard he stole an idea, that would actually be used in a future episode. Information about Melony's transformation turned out to not be anything that was readily useful to SMG3 plan, so he didn't use it later in the plot or even reveal that he knows about that up until the special.
  • "Mario Runs out of Toilet Paper" is based on the COVID-19 Pandemic, but why wasn't the video referencing the pandemic? Just people panicking over toilet paper and attacks by fast food gods. What were the creators (Kevin and Luke) thinking?
    • Because the blooper focuses on the toilet paper purchase craze meme created during the pandemic. During the first part of the blooper the implications of the incoming disaster are not made clear, making it look like its the virus. One of the problems the world faces in the blooper are loose bowels caused by the fast food being forced upon them. It references one of the minor symptoms COVID 19 patients can show in real life - diarrhoea.
  • As seen in "MARIO'S OKAY," Super Meme Guardians can manipulate meme energy. In "War Of The Fat Italians 2021," SMG3 and SMG4 use their powers to turn all of Zero's corrupted memes into energy. If SMG1 and SMG2 knew how to use these powers beforehand, then why didn't they use them to save SMG4's gang from the corrupted memes in the ten-year anniversary?
    • Then again, the creators probably didn't come up with the meme manipulation concept yet.
  • Spoilers for the Revelations Arc: why did it take several episodes for Niles to transform Axol's body into something similar to ZERO's body when it was practically a near-instant transformation when he fused with SMG0? Could it be some sort of unfamiliarity with Axol's mind in comparison to SMG0's? Or that his state was too weakened by SMG1 and SMG2 to make the process instant?
  • Why did the antivirus merely trap Zero as though it was a prison, when that isn't how real antiviruses work? Antiviruses delete files marked as viruses or hazards when scanning. An actual antivirus would have deleted Zero, but the one depicted in the machinima didn't because...?
    • Because… logic. Zero is just too powerful.
  • So how did the Clown Fever get resolved? And why is Depresso (source of the Clown Fever and potential villain) standing with the front line of the crowd?
  • If SMGs are supposed to resemble their avatar, why doesn't SMG1?
    • This question comes up and is hand waved away during the Genesis Arc by SMG4.
SMG4: Maybe all SMGs and their avatars look the same! Except for SMG1...he looks like he got squished in an accident.
    • SMG4 also gets a body transformation in WOTFI 2022.
  • In the Lawsuit Arc, at one point SMG4 tries to think of an arc idea, to which Meggy says all his arcs are too depressing, which SMS4 admits to. Then in the rap battle for WOTFI 2022, Boopkins says all the arcs "give [him] depression". So how does this work? Is SMG4 actually putting his friends through these highly traumatizing series of events? But why would he be in danger from the threats himself if he's the one writing them? And these two instances implies the Gang knows about his tendency to write angsty arcs, so why would they take these threats seriously and why would they go along with it?
  • Why does being exposed to memes cause the Nintendo Ninjas to die instead of becoming comically stupid like every other character?
  • So Karen is a Struggling Single Mother who works a few hundred jobs. Except that Wotfi 2022 reveals she is willing to and knows how to make LOTS of easy money off OnlyFansnote , so why doesn't she just do that instead of working herself to death? It can't be that she's happy working all those service jobs, because almost every episode with her makes it apparent that she hates her job.
    • It could be that she hates making money off of being objectified even more than those jobs.
  • Does the Mushroom Kingdom use dollars or coins as its currency? Numerous episodes show both giant coins straight out of the Mario games and ordinary dollars. Episodes like "If Mario Was In Baldi's Basics" and "What If Mario Had $10,000,000?" have characters refer to the currency as dollars, yet other episodes like "Stupid Mario 3D World" and "Return to Freddy's Spaghettria" have characters refer to the currency as coins. Which of the two is the real currency, and why is it so inconsistent?
  • Couldn't Melony have been immune to the Super DMCA? Now some parts of it, I can understand (Bob and Boopkins survived because they're a Garo and Spike respectively while characters like Karen, Saiko and Meggy are completely original and as such are directly affected). But here's the thing: Melony as an original character came to life because the Fierce Deity Mask, a Nintendo artifact, was quite literally thrown onto a watermelon. Wouldn't the mask have provided Melony with some level of protection from it, or is the Super DMCA that precise in its terms?
    • The Super DMCA was handled really strangely, and it seems to have been that unless you were actively owned by Nintendo or were part of their legal team, the Super DMCA would affect you, as shown by Swag and Chris and Old Man Hobo being killed off by it. Melony wears the mask, but is still a unique character, the same way Meggy was an inkling but is unique now.
  • So how exactly did Terrance (A Ugandan Knuckles) never corrupt? The 10 Year Anniversary shows dead memes corrupt if they're outside the Internet Graveyard for even a few hours, yet Terrance spends much longer than that outside the Internet Graveyard during Revelations.
  • This is a crossover world where the Inklings exist and live in the same world as Mario & friends, or any other humans they interact with. So... shouldn’t Mario be already famous in Inkopolis assuming many of the Inklings have heard of his exploits or have played his games, even before the SplatSquad's victory in Meggy's Destiny?
  • If in Mario plays cursed Mario games Mario defeated Lawyer Kong by shoving Sonic up his ass headfirst, how come he didn’t just do that before?
    • Because Sonic barely even was in that arc?
  • If Meggy and Boopkins object to the harm and murder of any aquatic life, why did they agree to go fishing with Bob and Mario?
    • Probably that they thought it would be "catch & release" fishing, not "catch to eat" fishing.
  • So, what's the big fucking deal with the gang leaving Peach to rot in the Eldritch Goop? For all her shortcomings, she wasn't a Francis-level irredeemable villain who deserved such a horrible fate. While it would be in-character for someone like Bob or SMG3 (who even outright states that "[the gang] didn't care [about Peach]"), you'd think more compassionate characters like, say, Tari or Melony would object to doing so. It's not like flying up on a helicopter and letting down a rope for Peach to climb out back when it was possible is harder than sending the entire castle underground with bombs or, you know, preventing an apocalypse, why didn't anyone at least try that?
  • Why Mario, SMG4, SMG3 and Melony dont say truth about SMG0, that he didn't control himself and was forced assimilated with Niles?
    • First off, grammar. Secondly, what would be the point? Zer0's dead, the God Box's destroyed, why would they need to say "Oh, hey, you know that demon that killed Axol and tried to destroy the universe? Turns out he's two dudes and one of them isn't half bad."
      • Well, wouldn't Melony want people to know who is really to blame for her boyfriend's death? I see no reason why she wouldn't.
