Added example(s)

* AllJustADream: The whole Springies awards show scene in the beginning was just Marge's dream.

* CellPhonesAreUseless: Moe enforces this by installing a signal jammer so his customers won't get distracted. A rat gnawing on the cords, as well as Moe shooting at the rat, destroys the jammer, and suddenly the barflies get a barrage of texts. This explains why Homer couldn't reach Marge at the hospital.

* DonutMessWithACop: Bart has written "Donut Box" on the trunk of the police squad car. Chief Wiggum then opens it, and it is indeed filled with donut boxes.

* InMemoriam: Hans Moleman was accidentally put into one for the Springie awards twice, the second one due to them thinking he died during the award show.

Marge sells Homer's pants and keeps the money for herself, but feels guilty for it.
[[folder:Full Recap]]
Everyone in Springfield is dressing to the nines tonight, even Homer, despite a mishap with the neck button of his fancy shirt that required the "Haim-lick". The occassion? The Springie Awards, the 35th annual award show for the citizens of Springfield. But as the night goes on, everyone in town but the Simpson family wins an award or two. They're even snubbed for hyper-specific awards seemingly tailored for them. But it's time for the final award, a special golden Springie for the town's most underapreciated person, and the winner is Marge. The crowd cheers!

Marge wakes up on a bed of broken springs. Marge wants to go back to sleep for another minute and return to the dream, but Bart and Lisa are arguing and Homer wants a backup singer for his shower singing. Another thankless day in the life of Marge Simpson ensues, dealing with problem after problem, culminating to a trip to the emergency room because Bart broke his middle fingers at softball practice. She texts Homer for backup, but Homer is at Moe's with Lenny, Carl, and Larry's urn. Moe put in a signal jammer, so nobody is getting calls or texts. Homer, Lenny and Carl are playing a drinking game that involves spinning on the barstools until they're notably drunk and dizzy. Shortly after Homer stumbles through the bar's window, glass shards tearing open his pants, the signal jammer breaks down, and all the missed calls and texts come pouring in. Homer heads home, and finds Marge, bitter that he couldn't be there when she needed him, and she's not in the mood to hear any excuses. He heads upstairs, but before getting too far up, he asks Marge if she can fix his pants. Marge angrily agrees, she's already had to deal with so many problems that day.

Marge is sewing Homer's pants while watching an ''Series/AntiquesRoadshow''-like show, appraising the value of seemingly worthless items. The next item being valued on that show is a pair of pants, the same brand as Homer's, and with identical features. The woman having these pants appraised asks if usage changes the pants' value, and the appraiser says that a highly distressed seat actually increases the pants' value. With Marge's excitement roused, the appraiser values the pants at $2,600. Even with this tear, Homer's pants are worth a small fortune! Thinking about the day she's had, Marge decides she's gonna be greedy this time, and stashes Homer's blue pants inside her blue beehive, and tells a lie about them being unsalvagable. Homer believes this lie and takes the loss of his pants well.

With an Elton John parody playing, Homer and Marge are driving in their cars, in a good mood. Homer is wearing sweatpants to work, taking advantage of how much he can store in them when stretched out. Marge is taking Homer's jeans to a clothes buyer, Comic Book Guy's cousin, Collectable Pants Dude. CPD tries to lowball the price, but Marge knows the pants' worth, and after bringing up someone on [=eBay=] is selling them for $3,000. CPD must have these pants, collectable pants are his addiction, and he's willing to pay $2,595. But suddenly, Marge hesitates. But CPD forces his hand, and has already given Marge the money. Marge accepts the deal. Marge ponders what she can do for her family with the money, but everything she imagines turns out bad.

Mr. Burns takes Smithers, Lenny and Carl to the core of the nuclear plant, wanting to succeed where Oppenheimer failed; "tickling the dragon's tail", creating the world's most profitable atomic pile, brick by uranium brick. The biopic that results from this will blow Oppenheimer's movie out of the water, and annihilation will be the "heartwarming climax". But the pile is reaching critical mass, threatening to blow up the whole plant. Men in bulky radiation suits are trying to fix the situation, but their suits are slowing them down. In comes Homer with his sweatpants, and with the removal of a uranium brick from the core and into his sweatpants, the plant is saved. For his bravery, Mr. Burns rewards him with two front-row tickets to a baseball game.

Marge is in the rich part of town, feeling guilty, and not sure just what to do with the money. She eventually calls Homer to tell him about the money, but before she could, she overhears the "Charge!" fanfare. Homer is at the game, with the new guy from Ghana. Marge demands to know why he didn't ask her to go to the game, and Marge says it's because he knows she doesn't like baseball. But Marge replies that she likes being asked. Homer wants to make up for it and get her a jersey, but Marge is outraged that he forgot she's a medium. Her mind is made up, and she buys herself the biggest ring the "Yes" guy can sell.

With a blue diamond on her finger, Marge's guilts resurface. All sales are final though. She returns home, but finds she can't enjoy it in private, the guilt resulting in a rash on her ring finger. She takes the ring off, and struggles to find a hiding place that she's confortable with and that Homer hasn't already used to hide cookies. She hides the ring in the attic, but Lisa is already in the attic, looking at old report cards. And Bart is also in the attic, "not" hiding from the cops. With the two shooed away, Maggie reveals herself, sucking on the ring like a pacifier. Marge is comfortable with her knowing, she's not judgemental, and it's not like she's gonna reveal any secrets.

At Moe's, Homer feels like he doesn't appreciate Marge enough. Moe puts a coin in the jukebox, and with a Grinchy grin, Moe reinforces Homer's negative feelings with Seussian rhymes. Lenny and Carl throw him out of the bar as Moe's song concludes.

Marge can't cope with her selfishness, and leaves the ring and the reciept on the hallway table for all to see as she heads to bed. Homer sees it when he opens the door, and Homer can't believe this selfishness. But looking around the house, Homer sees the cookies she baked, a photo of a party she threw, and baseball tickets for two. Homer's fury cools rapidly, he's married to the most selfless woman in the world. Homer takes the ring and puts it on Marge's ring finger, thankful and wishing he was the one to buy that ring for her.

Later, Marge's guiltless feelings are interrupted by Kent Brockman giving a report. That very diamond is the most unethical gemstone in human history. Marge tosses these allegations aside, and simply turns the ring around for a while, hiding the diamond from prying eyes.

!!Tropes:
* FunWithHomophones: During the opening dream sequence, choking on his neck button, Homer is unable to speak and communicates to Marge by gesturing to his knee, grabbing a Music/{{Haim}} album, and making a licking motion. Knee-Haim-lick, or "Need Heimlich".
* HammerspaceHair: Marge stashes Homer's pants in her hive, saying they're unfixable. Homer believes this, and because they're both blue, Homer mistakes part of his pants as a loose hair and pats it back into the hive.
* InMemoriam: Hans Moleman was accidentally put into one for the Springie awards twice, the second one due to them thinking he died during the award show.
* SelfDeprecation: As the 35th Springie awards toll on, Homer says "Will this show ever end?" when holding a pamphlet for the show. The camera goes over Homer's shoulder, and inside is a letter to The Simpsons from the Fox Network.
* ShoutOut: Mr. Burns is seen watching ''Film/{{Oppenheimer}}'', though he has his criticisms about it. In the same scene, Smithers says he's more of a fan of a certain other movie that came out that same summer, all but name-dropping ''Film/Barbie2023''.
