^Nonsense. It exists in mainstream media, it can and should be troped. * [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpOPyjmB8SI The entire plot of The Dover Boys of Pimento University revolves around this trope.]] Amusingly enough, the automaton-like female protagonist acts absolutely horrified, pounding the door for rescue, even while she ''offhandedly and effortlessly'' beats Dan Backslide to a bloody pulp. Then when the rescuers arrive, everyone acts as if he ''wasn't'' already beaten to a pulp, and "bravely" challenge him to a three-on-one fistfight, where they beat him bloody some more. Then they ride into the sunset. It's fairly surreal. * Any comedy featuring a DastardlyWhiplash who uses the classic "marry me or I'll tie you to the traint tracks" plot. Being coerced into marriage ''is'' rape, especially in an era where you had MaritalRapeLicense. * Many, many, many of {{Popeye}}'s stories follow the following plot: Popeye loses to Bluto (or was it Brutus?) in courtship for Olive, Bluto goes away with Olive and at first acts really nice to her, then starts getting more and more sexually aggressive, until Olive, terrorized, calls Popeye for help. Popeye eats his spinachs, kicks Brutus' ass, and RescueRomance ensues. About picking up the soap, don't these guys ever think of ''squatting''? And it's not a downplayed trope if the trope ''doesn't actually happen''.
