^ Yes, I'd say so. As far as I can see, the core aspect of this trope is that there's a group whose job is to destroy some kind of monsters. The special training and tactics are basically a given; if it's their job to fight the monsters, they'll probably figure out at some point how to do it most efficently. The specialized equipment is something they are very ''likely'' to have, but it's also quite easy to imagine a situation where the group only uses conventional weapons but instead knows ''how'' to use them against the monsters. For example, the monsters might have some kind of [[AttackItsWeakPoint weak point]] that can still be destroyed by conventional weapons, but the group is just really good at ''finding'' that weak point. It would still mean that they are specialized in defeating the monsters even though their equipment is nothing special.
