For example, I was thinking of a situation in ''Series/TrueBlood'' where vampire enemies Eric and Russell drink blood that's supposed to make them immune to sunlight, but Eric knows it's only a temporary immunity, (as in more like slowly smoldering before turing into a pile of ash instead of instantly turning into a pile of ash) and uses that to lure Russell into the sunlight. Once Russell finally dares to go out into the open sun Eric grabs him and holds him there with the intention of both of them burning together.

Or the case of when Jesus pranked Peter and convinced Peter that he too could walk on water if believed enough only for everyone to get a god laugh out of it when Peter [[StealthPun sank like a stone]] in ''Literature/LambTheGospelAccordingToBiff''.

I came into this just thinking of literal poison, but now I'm wondering about other substances or acts. And furthermore how many tropes that will wind up overlapping with and whether it'll be enough of a distinct trope.
