Reviews: Dear John
Does Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy have any meaning for you?
Many sitcoms have a group of lovable losers who spend their lives running in place. These are barely-tolerable losers whose fortunes literally diminish with each episode. John's tolerance of his ex-wife, his former best friend and—everything is not lovable loser, it is Extreme Doormat. No one else is much better, yet even their problems become his, with his acquiescence. This is a damn shame. Almost to a one, every last actor had and has done better. Judd Hirsch? A multi-genre legend. Just not for this.
