O what could have been
Instead of bending being kind of a martial art or dance, this story ponders on bending being like talking, a discussion, a speech or a poem.

It is very short, and very well written, with only snippets showing the various styles.

Brilliant execution of its premise
Imagine if, instead of martial arts, bending was expressed through sign language. That's the premise of "Speech Acts" and it executes it with a concise brilliance. The fic does expressly what it needs to in order to convey its premise, show thin slices of canon to demonstrate the alternate universe. A lovely one shot with imaginative worldbuilding.
