Reviews: Mother Poland So Freshly Entombed

So very seconded. Well written all the way through, with a well-done slight AU (the request called for humans being aware nations existed) that was vibrantly realistic. The sense of desperation and loss is almost tangible by the end of the fic.

For one thing, this story manages to be touching and bleak without sliding into Dark Fic terrirory too much. Not only does the writer portray Poland (and even Hungary and Lithuania) remarkably well, the students themselves are also presented sympathetically even as they transform into Well Intentioned Extremists and fail to kill Poland. Which makes the leadup to the Bittersweet Ending all the more painful. The couple live, but have ultimately become the very people they despised in the beginning of the story. While the Nation they've forsaken remains shaken.
