The writer clearly didn't mess around in her "take on the classic Aliens invade planet earth set up. The dynamics between America, Canada and Russia along with the other surviving Nations help dampen the largely ominous and bleak backdrop, as humanity bands together to fight the invaders. As a semi-spoiler, it's a relief finding how they do succeed. But by the end, the world is in shambles, technology has been thrownback a hundred years and the remaining countries are more concerned with rebuilding themselves after nearly 10 years of war. And yet for America, he still has dreams...
