Except most of that is character development from being put through a nightmare of a war... YMMV I guess.

Disagree about the nations being in-character. They might have been at first but by now they're not.

Well written, equal parts hillarious ( America saying famous movie lines in the middle of battle), tearjerking ( World War 3 takes a heavy toll), heartwarming (Romano dealing with Spains breakdown), and actionpacked (Ireland, just ...Wow). Canon nations are kept in character and fanon ones are put in seamlessly.
