FanficRecs A new flavor
Most of the Fo Z fanfics out in the interwebs has Louise summoning a familiar, who might be from another fandoms, or an OC who has interesting powers. They then proceed to beat the crap out of the enemies Saito faced in the series.
Interestingly, Acolyte of Zero has Louise summoning an acolyte from Warcraft.
In the first few chapters (the first 2 I believe) has a humorous tone, consisting of Louise's interaction with Louis the acolyte. Louis even asks Louis if she played the tutorial, or if she wants to construct buildings.
Then came the twist. I won't say what it is, because it's a really big spoiler that will mess with the reading experience.
Overall, the story is very powerful, and hits you sometimes with unexpected (or not) character death.
FanficRecs A different type
We've all seen our fair share of familiars replacing Saito and affecting how the story goes for Louise right? Some are quite similar to the original, some have mixed plots, some even twist out things even more.
I think Acolyte of Zero would be the latter. It has Louise summon a basic worker of the Warcraft 3 franchise. What might have been a pitiful storyline was instead handled well providing a start of a humorous connection between Louise and .. Louis. But things aren't always simple. I don't want to spoil the full package, but Acolyte of Zero handles the story differently in comparison. You have Louise trying to hide the truth behind her familiar, and her familiar doing otherwise.
The characterizations are nice and the quality of writing is really quite good. The storyline, turns to a darker shade after the third chapter. Expect character deaths and don't be pissed, but some of them might return. Definitely something you'd read if you want something different from most crossovers of Familiar of Zero.
And it hits the feels right when you don't expect it
FanficRecs Not your ordinary familiar of zero fic
This story does well in keeping up nonstop action and engaging the reader enough to ignore minor grammatical issues. Good scene setting and action descriptions. Lots of war.
This is the best FOZ story I have read and I definitely recommend it. 8.8/10
