Definitely within the worthwhile 10% of the MST genre

Ah, MST, one of the most well known terms within the fanfic community, especially for those who spend time around the So Bad, It's Good fanfics. My main problem with many of them are that most just cause me some cheap laughs, the main problem being that most of them boiled down to, "Author, you're a complete dumbass!", pulling in "Guest stars" who really feel like they're just in to provide a bunch of references and show that the author can type names, and other such problems.

Then I discovered A Wild Badfic Appeared, and decided to give it a chance. I was glad I did. Unlike most other examples of an MST, this actually remembers that it's meant to commenting on a So Bad, It's Good fanfic, and so, it's reactions are more having a good laugh at the Accidental Innuendo that happens, the over the top imagery that occurs, and examples of Artistic Licence. And another improvement is that the guest characters actually act like the characters. Robin acts like an actual medieval character, Mega Man acts like a little boy, and other such things that are actually like the characters. Also, I love the personality given to X(I know it is Calem in the MST, as it is his default name, but I like to call him X), and find him to be my personal Ensemble Darkhorse for this series.

Personally, I hope this series becomes known, and I especially think it should be the yardstick with which to judge an MST with, since this is just brilliantly excellent. My hat goes off to you, Erika The Reindeer.

Erikatheraindeer here... And HOLY CRUD A POSITIVE REVIEW?! Thank you so, SO much! I mean, am I that good? Your praise just brings a smile to my face. I'm glad I got across what I wanted to, and you won't believe how much this made my day, seeing a review of my MST and finding a glowing review of it. And was I that good with Calem? Thank you! Have a nice day! :D

Yep, you are that good. I'm glad to see you are pleased with my evaluation. And yes, I would say you were really good with X, the perfect example of doing an Expy right, to the point that I enjoy his role in the commentary more than Sonic. Keep it up.

Awwww... Thanks! 😊 What did I do right with him exactly? I was debating him leaving later, but it seems that he's going to be permanant throughout Mishonh from God; thanks for helping me decide! ^_^

On, and what you said here describes perfectly what I wanted to do with AWFBA! Comms... Whenever I looked up MS Ts for, say, Mf G, I am always let down by a commentator who take it waaaaayyy too seriously, and constantly complain about how much it sucks. It's like me when I was nine. :/ And people said I couldn't take a joke. It's especially weird because a few have gone on record saying they actually enjoyed doing it. And others... Are just bizzare for the sake of being bizzare or funny. It's funny at first, but you can only see a person pull out a chainsaw so many times before it gets old. Besides, what's the point of doing it if you hate it? :P But being a canon purist, it never annoyed me as much as seeing every guest star simply be re-skins of the same basic character; what's the point of using them if practically all of them just become deadpan blatantly obvious puppets of the author? It was just weird seeing Link; or anyone for that matter referencing some TV show or some other pop culture thing (the only non-Erika characters to do so in mine are Ness and Pit, and even those are lampshaded, and everybody else is cued when they're supposed to reference something, ie Sonic's "Over 9000 " joke), Sonic fainting or not sending quips back, or Pit and Palutena not being playful or trolling respectively at all. It gets especially bad with KI characters, since Kid Icarus is such a goldmine when it comes to commentators, but they're never used right. So I decided to go and make my own. Say, how did you come across my commentary?

I think what makes X stand out is the Sophisticated as Hell side of him, which adds a nice layer of characterization.

Yeah, that's exactly where AWBFA shines, it actually feels like the real reaction of someone who found the work so hilariously bad that they wanted to commentate on it. The others are like having a bunch of Lucina's, except without the other characters for her to bounce off of.

I found out about AWBFA when reading the TV Tropes page for Mishonh From God, and I looked at the MST list, and the most recent one added at the time was AWBFA, and since I was in a Pokémon high at the time, it jumped out at me. Glad it grabbed me, as you can tell.

Oh. Though I'm curious as to how he's a good expy specifically. From what I've seen, those MS Ts do have sarcasm in them, but the crews are populated by deadpans and deadpans only, ie your Kristoffs and Chroms, except much more easily affected. I've seen one MST with a commentary that wasn't extremely generic, out of a cast of like six - and it also included all three of the FEA characters seen so far in AWFBA!, AND Sonic. There was another whose name I won't say who may as well have been trying to disappoint me by including a character known for being goofy and having the first lines from his mouth be a long rant with no jokes, puns, or wittiness in the slightest. Since Smash has such a unique and diverse cast, I want to see diversity reflecting that. And Pokemon high, lol. Was that recent? I adore Pokemon, as you may know. Also, how would you rank the party members so far in how good they are?(possible spoilers? Oh well, I already revealed most of them here anyway...) And what would be your favorite jokes? How far are you anyway? But really, "a yardstick with which to judge an MST"?! I really think that I should keep this to look at on bad days; you're too kind! Well, welcome to the commentary train! By the way, may you please add a funny page and some entries for it? I would, but I would look like I have a Small Name, Big Ego if I did that.

Though I'll warn you - I can't keep a consistent update schedule because my high school is very far from where I live, so prepare for Schedrule Slip.

I think it's the differences in personality that make X work as an Expy, since he stops him from feeling like a carbon copy, and more just like another guy who happens to act similar.

Yeah, the Pokémon high was recent, since I was able to grab a copy of Y pretty cheap off eBay.

Now onto the rankings.

1. X 2. Robin 3. Ness 4. Erika 5. Lucina 6. Sudz 7. Chrom 8. Pit 9. Sonic 10. Mega Man 11. Kristoff

I've seen all 6 parts so far, and I think my favourite moments are the Literalist Snarker moments. For specific moments, I also enjoyed Chrom's A Rare Sentence scene and the OVER 9000 moment. I'll get round to that Funny sub-page sometime this week.(It's the last week of my college course, and the schedule of Wednesday and Thursday are fairly demanding, and I definitely want to pass and get onto the next course later this year)

I won't worry about your update schedule. I'll just check your page every once in a while and see.

Does a lower ranking mean that the characters are "meh" or just not as funny? Also, since I didn't develop Sudz, I didn't think he would be that memorable... And I'm also kind of surprised at Erika's popularity. Also, wow, we already had 11 members?! Let's take this thread to P Ms after this. It's kind of getting long. Yeah... As you can see I'm pretty pesky when I find out I actually have fans. Also, I made a typo above. I meant one CHARACTER out of a cast of like six in one MST. And it wasn't any one of the characters featured in AWFBA!.

A lower ranking is just not as funny. Also, don't take my rating of Kristoff too seriously, since he's just a case of a reference being lost on me. Also, yeah, the PM switch would be best.

Hey, are the P Ms getting through?
