I disagree with the claim that this cartoon is racist. I can get why people would see the name and expect the cartoon to be something horrible. But Hong Kong Phooey isn't a racist Asian caricature; he is just a dog that does kung fu. (He is actually Black-coded due to his voice actor.) If Hong Kong Phooey had a stereotypical Asian accent and/or if he had traits such as squinty eyes and a queue haircut, then yeah that would be different.

Now compare and contrast them to Hong Kong Phooey.

it's politically incorrect because of the show's frequent use of psuedo-Chinese, as mentioned in the Values Dissonance entry, which would not fly today.

I misunderstood what it was saying. I assumed it was saying that Hong Kong Phooey was a racist Asian caricature, but it's actually there because of the fake Chinese. Got it.

Something should at least be done about the Hilarious in Hindsight example, though.
