On the subject of Darker and Edgier I say no the original was a lot darker. First of all you know how at least 60% of Madness Returns, has Alice, fighting her way through a wonderland that looks as if it’s straight out of a colorful kids movie only to become aesthetically nightmarish late in the game. Well in the original American Mc Gee's Alice, happy scenery was just unheard of. The original’s scenery and atmosphere was always as grim and dark as The Suffering (video game).
