When crosswicking the tropes that belong solely in the shorts, I've noticing a bit of confusion: sometimes they go in "Films — Animation" like the movie, but other time in "Web Animation", since after all they're only available on the Web. What do you guys think is the best choice?
Edited by StFan Hide / Show RepliesDamn, the page is getting big enough that it's starting to lag on edit. We might consider splitting by creating another page for the shorts. Maybe putting it straight into the WebAnimation/ namespace, in fact.
Edited by StFanIs there a YMMV that fits the part of the battle after the Rainbooms "pony up"? Something along the lines of "awesomeness ruined by analysis"? As the guys said on the commentary:
- "This feels so epic to me, we really pulled this off! They're fighting with butterflies and rainbows and musical notes!"
"Don't say it, just watch it."
Is this covered by Narm Charm?
Edited by 174.109.18.100 Hide / Show RepliesDoes anybody else noticed Trixie's impressive hairstyle for the final concert? A whole long ponytail shaped like a corkscrew... would it fits in a trope? Like Regal Ringlets?
Hide / Show RepliesIt looks closer to the Mega Twintails variety of drill hair to me; Tropes Are Flexible.
So did the whole Equestria Academy thing turn out to be a hoax or a misquote or what?
Hide / Show RepliesFrom what I've read, Equestria Academy is just the title for the European l10n of the Equestria Girls films.
THREE animated films referened Taco Tuesday THIS YEAR!! (The Lego Movie, The Bookof Life, and THIS). Is this an actual thing I've been missing all my life?
"The Humane Six" - we keep using that phrase. If they're rehearsing, or performing, or about to perform, should we refer to them as "the Rainbooms" (regardless of whether Twilight and/or Sunset is with them)?
Hide / Show RepliesI agree it's getting repetitive quickly; it's a Fan Nickname after all and not an in-story one. Rainbooms is way better whenever it's relevant in context.
Does anybody know where I can watch the stinger for this movie?
Hide / Show RepliesWe'll probably have to wait for the DVD release And that wasn't the only change in the TV airing: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/My_Little_Pony_Equestria_Girls:_Rainbow_Rocks/Television_edits
Edited by 101.160.43.139One of the first fan-made Flash games was Rainbow Dash Guitar; in this film, the human Rainbow Dash plays guitar. Is this Ascended Meme? Mythology Gag? Something for the Trivia page?
Hide / Show RepliesIt would be an Ascended Meme if it had somehow reached memetic status. Can't tell for sure if it's the case, FIM has spawned lots of memes.
Otherwise, it would fit in Hilarious in Hindsight on the YMMV page.
I'm not quite sure how the Rarity's throne thing has to do with Chekhov's Gun. I think I read another example and feel like it's better under Foreshadowing. Chekhov's Gun is something that appears early on in the work or series but has greater plot significance later in the work or series, amirite?.
Hide / Show RepliesI agree; I noticed it earlier under Foreshadowing, and I think it fits well there. It is not a Chekhov's Gun.
Should the Base Breaker entry regarding Sunset Shimmer stay? I think that argument only applies to the first movie.
Because of a certain vandal who just doesn't want to go away. You'll have to ask for edits here in the meantime.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNah, a different one.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSeriously, what's with The-Literary-Lord mass deleting several entries? Some of them were completely fine.
As this is presently locked, here's something that's not critical but should be added, under Film - Call Back: the CMC "Showstoppers" outfits make a return.
Hide / Show RepliesAs said in the discussion post below, feel free to ask here.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI don't know about the Karma Houdini entry. They bought the bass legally, so naturally they'd try to make profit on it as they run a business. While a bit humiliating, it's seems a fair deal considering.
Hide / Show RepliesI agree that it is probably a poor example; it's probably better to remove it before it'd attract natter.
The two following examples were put under Leaning on the Fourth Wall, which doesn't fit the trope description. They're both Pinkie being Pinkie; if they fall under a more adequate trope, I can't find it right now:
- During the slow-motion segment of "Music to My Ears" within the coffee shop, while the other Mane 6 (sans Twilight) are all waving to DJ at a pace that makes sense for slow-motion, Pinkie waves to her at a completely normal speed as if the slow-motion did not exist.
- In "Perfect Day for Fun", there is a carousel in the background of most of the fair shots, all with the same cream-color coat/blue mane horse. At the end of the video one of the Mane 6's shots shows Twilight, Rarity, and Pinkie riding the carousel, but Pinkie's "horse" is now one that resembles her pony one. Also, Pinkie is able to contort her body to make her reflection in a fun house mirror appear perfectly normal.
Should we separate the shorts from the film? I believe the crew made it clear that the shorts are not part of the film but tie into them.

The film is okay in my opinion, but one thing that I won't let the rest of CHS live down is booing the Rainbooms during the Semifinal and even bothering to apologize to them in the end, even though it was mostly the Dazzlings doing.
