http://xkcd.com/1446/ ...does this fall under Real Life Writes The Plot? After all, it obviously was drawn in real time to match the actual Rosetta news. Maybe Loosely Based On A True Story? Or even Roman a Clef? :-)

To be honest, I'm surprised there isn't a separate tropes page for 1190.

It might be good to make clear that xkcd = 42 if you're using a = 1, b = 2, c = 3, ..., z=26 (24+3+4+11 = 42) and not trying to somehow get a value using Roman numerals.

http://xkcd.com/372/ , though you probably figured that one out by now - just posting this here to save any other would-be question answerers the trouble.

Just want to check before I post: I think the conclusion of What If? #1 is actually a case of Gretzky Has the Ball:
A careful reading of official Major League Baseball Rule 6.08(b) suggests that in this situation, the batter would be considered "hit by pitch", and would be eligible to advance to first base.Munroe cites 6.08(b), but if you check the rule text, you see that "[t]he batter becomes a runner and is entitled to first base without liability to be put out (provided he advances to and touches first base) when—"
(b) He is touched by a pitched ball which he is not attempting to hit unless (1) The ball is in the strike zone when it touches the batter, or (2) The batter makes no attempt to avoid being touched by the ball; [...]In the scenario described, when the batter is struck, first, the ball is in the strike zone, and second, he (not having seen it coming) has made no attempt to avoid being touched by it. No — the actual rule that applies is 7.05(h), which states that "[e]ach runner including the batter-runner may, without liability to be put out, advance—"
(h) One base, if a ball, pitched to the batter, or thrown by the pitcher from his position on the pitcher’s plate to a base to catch a runner, goes into a stand or a bench, or over or through a field fence or backstop. The ball is dead[.]

As the xkcd page keeps getting bigger, we're running into a bit of a Weblinks Are Not Examples problem. Just a reminder, but I'm hoping some tropers will help clean this up.

http://xkcd.com/980/ How do i save the full image where i can see every bit of text there without looking all blurry?

If you click onto the image, it leads you to http://xkcd.com/980/huge/ . No idea how this is with other browsers, but mine (Safari 5.1.1, Mac-version) allows me then to zoom in.

If people want to bash the comic, they can do it in plenty of other places. ...How does that tie into the rest of your point?

My point is that a substantial part of the bile that gets heaped on many controversial pages like xkcd seems to be derived from the idea that a discussion of the subject cannot be complete without mentioning every example of hatedom that exists. That's not the point of the wiki. In fact, we're on a general mission from the admins to cut out this kind of cruft and reduce the use of Subjective Tropes and tropes that apply to the fandom rather than the work. We are not Wikipedia, but we also aren't ED. Put it this way: can you think of a good reason why xkcdexplained needs to be on this page? Having it here only increases the likelihood of attracting Natter, as can easily be seen from recent edits. The alternative to self-policing is to have pages scrubbed and locked and tropers banned.

The IJBM page was half a discussion about The Game which had only a tangential relationship to the comic, and half someone complaining about one comic in particular being "The most NSFW comic ever."

How long is that Cat Proximity comic going to stay as the page image? I don't think it really exemplifies XKCD as a whole.

Take it to the Image Pickin' forum if you want to get a vote going.
