Super important conversation topic: Dn D alignments. Which characters have them. And why?

In order from easiest to most complex:

Penny: Lawful Good. Obvs.

Dr. Horrible/Billy: Chaotic Neutral, then Chaotic Evil. He was probably Chaotic Good in the past, but his increasing cynicism toward the state of the world (and the conduct of its "heroes") pushed him to disavow the whole concept of "goodness" as anything worthwhile and embrace the path of a villain as the only real way to affect meaningful change. Then Cap killed Penny and it all went to shit.

Captain Hammer: Lawful Evil. If you've ever wondered what a "textbook narcissist" is, it's this guy. Everything is about him, even when it isn't. He only fights crime for two reasons: to piss off Dr. Horrible, and to get attention/laid. He is fully able to stand in front of a crowd of homeless people and tell them he hates them without registering that there might be something a little off about his cue cards. He throws Penny out of the way of the van so that he has room to show off by stopping it, and doesn't even pay attention to her until he realizes that she's singing his praises at which point she suddenly becomes relevant.

(On a side note, Moist is probably True Neutral and just in it to get dates.)

You know, I can't help thinking that Captain Hammer's rather useless. On-screen, he fails to stop a crime (and risks making it much worse through negligence), uses super-strength to pound on a normal human, completely ignores warnings about a malfunctioning weapon from the weapon's creator, and when he's injured, curls up into a useless whimpering ball.

Wasn't that really the whole point?

There's an apostrophe missing in the title, and it irks me...

Ah, it needs a customised title. I've submitted a request for one.

Dangit! I manage to get the Ear Worm music from this out of my head for a week and then an edit pops up in my watchlist and it's begun again.

Any dolt with half a brain...

I know, right? My sister and I spontaneously started singing "On the Rise" while doing our homework, me singing the male part and her singing the female part. It was awesome.

'Kay, silly question time. No doubt someone who's not me will be brave enough to move this namespace-wise sooner or later.

Question is, should it be WebOriginal/DoctorHorriblesSingAlongBlog to match our current spelling, or WebOriginal/DrHorriblesSingAlongBlog which seems to be the actual official spelling?

A couple thoughts:

1. Not sure what it qualifies as, if anything, but I feel it's gotta be intentional that Billy sings about at one point "I don't know if I'll upset the status quo/If I throw poison in the water main", and the plot of the ELE prequel comic involves the ELE members trying to do precisely that.

2. Is it really getting crap past the radar if there's no radar to get past? I feel all the euphemistic innuendo in the show is clearly Rule of Funny rather than actual self-censoring (seeing as how the funniest line in the thing is a very much blatant non-censored subversion).

I find the "Dark Reprise" entries to be highly dubious. "I'll Cover You" from Rent, "I Have a Song to Sing, O!" from The Yeomen of the Guard, "To the Lifeboats" from Titanic, "Little Bird" from Man of La Mancha, and "I'm Alive" from Next to Normal are examples of songs with Dark Reprises - when a song is sung at one point in the show and then sung later in a darker context. This doesn't really happen in Dr. Horrible - with the exception of the re-use of the "Caring Hands" melody in "Penny's Song" and the "Bad Horse Chorus," songs aren't reprised.

"My Eyes" is listed, but that song doesn't get ever get reprised. That entry needs one gigantic pruning.

Agreed... I think all of the entries are more a combo of Leitmotif and/or Ironic Echo.

This article is tagged as containing unmarked spoilers. Do not start adding them willy-nilly without asking anyone first. I started a forum discussion topic here.

I see this story is once again being called a "start of darkness", even though this musical isn't a prequel and and the trope definition is "a Prequel where we find out how the main antagonist from the original story got to that point."

Should we just change the trope definition?

We don't need to. Protagonist Journey to Villain is what this trope is, I believe.

The link given for Hulu doesn't work anymore. It says the video has been removed. Is there anywhere else on the internet to watch it?
08:01:33 PM Nov 10th 2010

I haven't seen it on Hulu (Canada, yay!) but I think the quality's not as good

Y'all have seen Dr. Horrible's Sing Along 8 Bit Game haven't you?
