There are two key sources that kill this theory. First, JLA/Avengers has Wally West going to the Marvel Universe and his speed powers disappear almost immediately because he has lost contact with the speed force, yet Quicksilvers powers work just fine there. Then during 52, we learned that Bart Allen had bottled up and closed off the Speed Force, but Jay Garrick (the old Flash) was still capable of running at the speed of sound due to the meta gene, and Supergirl still had her superspeed (Superman didn't have his but only because he lost all of his powers at the end of Infinite Crisis and they didn't return until the end of the 52 timeline. But Supergirl retaining her superspeed is sufficient counter evidence.)

How come I can't make any large-scale changes?
