Should WMG's for movies with their own WMG pages be moved to that page?

Help me please. I want to contribute one of the villains from Return to Oz, but I can't think of who to use. I know the Nome King would be good, and in the books he comes back more times than Jason Voorhees, but the Wheelers could do good too. Someone please help me decide.

You're not limited to just one. You can add whoever you think would fit.

I just want to make sure that it's someone who'd have the motive to serve the Friends. The Wheelers don't seem to have any loyalties. Hmm....

Never mind. Just thought of something.

The folder thing's been broken since I added stuff earlier this afternoon. General glitch or did we fill it up with too much stuff?

I've been wondering that too...I've tried to fix it, but no luck. Maybe we did. If that's the case, the argument for moving it to it's own page just got better.

Yeah, we broke it. I reorganized everything.

I'm thinking about putting a mandatory wait period in place for new material in the Friends vs. Council theory: about two weeks for movies, a week for comics, a month for video games. Since the theory doesn't use spoiler tags, I figure that giving some time after releases might be a good idea. What do you guys think?
millenniumrex
05:37:47 PM Mar 31st 2010
That would be a decent idea. It's not too long, but it gives people enough time to see the movies, etc. With a couple of the "future worlds" links coming up for release shortly, it might be a good idea. Prince of Persia is first, I believe.

Which movies in the Disney Animated Canon are currently not represented? I count The Fox and the Hound and Chicken Little right now. Am I missing any? I'm mulling over those two right now. I'm thinking about the Owl from Fox and the Hound (she could be the sister of Owl from Winnie the Pooh), but Chicken Little is a complete blank.

I've also looked through all of Disney's Live Action movies, and will now scan Touchstone for any interesting ones.

Those are the only two. Once they're written, the entire Canon will be represented. Personally I was thinking that Chicken Little could be in the same boat as Phineas and Ferb: a child who the High Council has a lot of faith in science-wise, or at least he caught their attention after the events of the movie. Oh, the owl's name is Big Mama.

And darn you for beating me to Santa Claus.

Yeah, after the Canon is finished I'll be leafing through The Disney Afternoon for any more potential entries.

Do we have a policy on outside properties within the parks being brought in? I mean, we do have the Twilight Zone based Tower of Terror and Mara from Indiana Jones Adventure. Mostly asking because the Rule of Cool makes me want to add Indiana Jones as a part of the High Council's forces. And maybe the Jedi
MichaelJJ
08:59:11 PM Mar 30th 2010
Kind of. The Tower of Terror never appeared in any episode of The Twilight Zone, but Disney did make a TV movie about it. And unless I'm mistaken, Mara was created for the attraction, so that counts as a Disney work. But no, Dr. Jones and the Jedi live in different worlds, and are currently unaware of this massive conflict. Just say an artifact temporarly brought Jones to a Disney world for awhile.

Indy at least has a little more grounding in both Disney Sea and Disneyland's Adventureland then the Star Wars stuff. Like I think in Tokyo that whole area with Indy has some connection to the Society of Explorers and Adventurers storyline.
MichaelJJ
05:57:38 PM Mar 31st 2010
You're going to have to elaborate on that. The Disney Park stuff is an area I lack big knowledge in. What was the Society of Explorers and Adventures storyline? If Indy had a crossover like that, I might allow it under certain conditions, like Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Er, perhaps it's just me, but honestly I think that the Friends On the Other Side/High Council WMG deserves it's on page. It's jsut an idea, though...

If that happened, my ego would balloon way too big to be contained...it would be awesome though. Seriously, I never expected it to get this big.

It's an amazingly complex, and well thought out idea. It really *does* deserve it's own entry, either as a WMG branch off, or a "just for fun" area of the Sweet section- or linked to both. Do you think anyone would mind if a new page were made? Something like WMG/Disney/FriendsHighCouncil or something~~

Well, admittingly all the discussion on this page is about the theory...really, I don't know, it seems kind of frivolous. An admin/mod/whatever you call them could answer that question better. I'm not going advocate it since it would be kind of pompus. I'll let the chips fall where they may.

You might want to try the Trope Repair Shop on the forums before you act.

Well, it seems you can add whatever to the Sugar Wiki...that's my understanding. If more people think it's a good idea, we'll do it.

Er.... Recently the theory got too big, and "broke" the folder system, it's fixed (for now), but honestly that just makes it an even better idea to make a new page.

Maybe make it a part of the Sugar Wiki, with a link at the top of *this* page sending you to*that* page for the full thing?
MichaelJJ
12:05:37 PM Apr 1st 2010
That would ba a good idea...but I don't really know the process for making a new page there, if you have to clear it with an admin or what. I'm warming up to it, yeah.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe that including Kingdom Hearts violates the Disney-owned clause. Even if we allow that all the original characters are owned by Disney, a large part of the franchise's draw derives from the crossover with Final Fantasy, which I believe renders Kingdom Hearts fundamentally not a Disney universe, not to mention that the games are published and (mostly) developed by Square Enix. You could also make an exception, but that might encourage people who want to add characters from other outside franchises. What do you think we should do?

It holds a condition similar to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, namely that Disney owns enough of it. The Disney-owned clause really kind of means that said property couldn't continue if Disney decided to pull the plug. Kingdom Hearts couldn't continue anywhere without the company's approval. Plus, the entire draw of the game is that you can travel to Disney worlds and interact with the characters, which to me means it fits. I'll refine the guidelines. Plus, if we have a slippery slope there, there are plenty of people besides me who are working to maintain this theory. If I don't get it, one of them will.

And besides, the Final Fantasy characters were only put in to draw attention to the game in America. Disney was always the primary draw of the series.

I believe I read that Square has virtually no control over the main characters of KH. So Sora, Riku, Kairi, Org. 13, and Xehanort belong to Disney. However, the other FF characters do not. I'm not adding any of the other KH characters yet, but anyone else could if they wanted to.
MichaelJJ
05:33:45 PM Mar 31st 2010
I've been planning too. I was going to wait until after Birth by Sleep was released to write anything Kingdom Hearts related. I started Xehanort's profile to avoid getting any spoilers on this page. If everything goes smoothly, I should write the articles about a month after the game is released, which should be plenty of time for people to beat the game.

I know this may open a can of worms, but where does Power Rangers fit into all this? Technically, the Saban seasons are out, but where do the Disney-produced characters fit?

Well, from what I understand Power Rangers is simply the American version of Super Sentai, which is a Japanese show not made by them. In that case, it qualifies like Digimon, which is to say it doesn't. Unless enough is changed that it could be considered a whole new story.

Oh, they are. Usually all that remains of Sentai is the action footage, and even then, Disney seems to shoot quite a bit of that themselves.

Well, still, does Disney completely own Power Rangers, or does the copyright still stay with the original Sentai producers? Unless it's completely owned, like Pixar and Marvel Universe, no dice. If Disney has complete control over it, go ahead.

Super Sentai is still the property of Toei, yes. Power Rangers is owned pretty much completely Disney; The only credit that Toei gets is for creating the show the season is based on. The only limits they have are the footage they have. Besides, the Power Rangers have already been in at least one Disney theme park parade, so I guess they are Disney-owned, at least to that extent.

I believe the ownership Disney has on Power Rangers is the same as their ownership of Kingdom Hearts: They own enough of it. Actually I have the same question about Return to Oz.
MichaelJJ
09:02:34 AM Mar 28th 2010
It counts. Even if it's liscened off a copyrighted work, so were Mary Poppins, 101 Dalmations, The Sword In The Stone, Tarzan, and the upcoming Prince of Persia adaption. As long as only the Disney version is discussed, go for it.
