With all the legendary theme songs, I feel Awesome Music should have it's own page.

Thoughts?

In late 2016, a new hero was added that couldn't be gained at all by players in certain parts of the world. I imagine Blizzard has since fixed it, but wouldn't that be an example of No Export for You?

I imagine it does. To get Tyrande you had to sign up for the free trial of Amazon Prime, which as you said was restricted in some areas. Blizzard did not actually fix it, so I imagine she'll be re-released at some point, but as it stands I'll put this under her character sheet.

Quick heads-up to everybody, I made https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Sandbox/HearthstoneHeroesOfWarcraft It's an overhaul of the Tier Induced Scrappy page to be a little more coherent and to provide a timeline of sorts for high-tiers and low-tiers. I don't want to overstep my boundaries however because this replaces a lot of writing, and I'd feel awful to just replace a bunch of peoples hard work with my own. I'll leave it for editing and it can be switched with the regular page when it's done.

Other things to be done: The overpowered version of Miracle Rogue from the vanilla game needs expansion. Low-tier Warrior and Shaman should be expanded because truth be told I don't know as much about their circumstances as I should. Cards should be similarly organized as high-tier and low-tier

I guess we have to redirect this page to just plain old "Hearthstone" since the Mean Streets update officially dropped the "Heroes of Warcraft" subtitle completely.

Agreed. It's been dropped even on Wikipedia, so it needs to be moved.

I'm not really *that* interesting... Or a car salesman, for that matter.

The examples for power creep are problematic. First off the ones used are actually creeping cards that were terrible: booty bay body guard and magma rager. They are both understatted per the rule of thumb: (cost *2) + 1

The examples provided do abide by the stat rule. Along that, we're talking about common cards that are not used still, because they are terrible. There are examples that fit way better, good example is doctor boom, who is essentially a 9/9 for 7 mana with a deathreattle of effectively dealing 2-8 random damage. Another one is darkbomb (GVG) vs. quickshot (BRM). Darkbomb is simply a card that deals 3 damage for 2 mana, while quickshot does the same for the same amount of mana, but also gives you a card if your hand is empty.

I understand that people want to put it on the main page, but the examples given (ice rager and evil heckler) better in YMMV under base breaker, because they are "creeping" bad cards.

For those interested, this is the removed part:

  • Power Creep: The Grand Turnament introduced the cards 'Evil Heckler'note  and 'Ice Rager' note , but while these cards are plainly better than 'Booty Bay Bodyguard'note  and 'Magma Rager'note  the community's response has generally been a resounding 'Who cares?'. because the minions being powercrept were almost universally regarded as awful and even the power-creeping cards are still considered lackluster.note  There is a tone of disunderstanding as to why Blizzard didn't simply buff the cards being powercrept, but it's very subdued because both powercreeping minions are commons and thus very easy to obtain, and as listed on the Crowning Moment Of Funny page, Evil Heckler is a fun card to listen to.

First of all, there were no Justifying Edit in that trope example - the entirity of it was written by me in one go.
Secondly, it's a class example of powercreep, the two cards completely overshadow the cards they replace, even if their replacements aren't good, still.
Thirdly: Yes, Doctor Boom, Mechanical Yeti and, possibly, Piloted Shredder should be here too. Doctor Boom is objectively better than War Golem, Mechanical Yeti is objectively better than Chillwind Yeti because while both players get a spare part upon destruction, only the one who played it gets access to a creature-type synergy (We have no cards that say 'if your opponent has a mech') and piloted shredder just has too many stats, on top of the mech-synergy, to be comparable to other four-mana cards, although Blizzard is trying to rein that in by releasing a lot of good 4 mana 3/5's, contextual 4-mana 3/6's, and two-mana cards that are bad when their battlecries are bypasssed (Darnassus Aspirant springs to mind.)
Fourthly: You cannot compare class cards and say one class' 2-mana card powercreeps because another class' 2-mana card is objectively worse. It might be the case, but neither class has access to both versions.

I didn't catch that part of the text the first time around, still, you're trying to justify the cards by adding useless info. There's no reason to say that evil heckler throws out funny quotes, unless you're trying to back up your argument. That's not needed if your example stands well enough on its own.

On why it's not power creep in my opinion, here's a quote from the power creep page, emphasis mine:

"A term used in any kind of multi-player game (including Video Games, Collectible Card Game, and Tabletop Games) to describe the process in which newly-added-content can be played along with the old-content, but with the new content being far more powerful/useful in every sense."

Here's the thing, heckler and rager aren't far more powerful in constructed, even in arena, they are not top picks, they're very mediocre. Ice rager easily gets taken out by a 1 mana minion and evil heckler gets taken out by a 4 mana minion, or even 3 mana ones. If heckler attacks a single minion, it will die easily thereafter. Compared to chillwind yeti, who can easily survive after taking damage if squaring off against most other 4- mana and lower minions. If it would be power creep, those two would be better than any other card with the same cost in nearly every situation.

The thing is that there are much more better examples of power creep like I said before, take piloted shredder: a 4/3 for 4 mana that spawns a 2 mana minion on death. It has 3-mana stats, but spawns 2 mana worth of minion as well, sometimes even more (millhouse). It's idiotically hard to remove, because of its deathrattle spawning another minion and its 4 attack allows it to take out every other 3-mana minion, and it's combined stats takes out plenty of 5-mana minions. That is power creep. Chillwind yeti can not take a fireball and survive, piloted shredder on the other hand leaves a threat on the board after eating removal. Considering that there is only one silence+damage card in the game (earthshock), it makes for a really strong minion for its mana cost, it usually takes two cards to remove that single 4/3 4 mana minion.

Yeti vs. mech yeti is quite shaky, the spare parts are not very powerful, and can even benefit your opponent. In arena the card is almost on the same page as regular yeti, only the mech tag pushes it to powerful. However, you see piloted shredder way more than mech yeti, because it has so much value and is a persistent threat.

The releasing of 3/6 and 3/5 minions on the other hand does jack all against shredder, on average they both trade in equally. Shredder attacks 3/6, the damaged 3/6 with 2 health attacks the minion that spawned from shredder, usually a 3/2 as well. Result: both die, and shredder is more flexible, because that spawned minion can be anything. Chillwind is a 4/5 and it also struggles against shredder, so I don't see any reason why a 3/6 would fare any better.

On the 2 mana cost thing, you still see shredder being played. The chance is still really low for a card like darnassus to drop and I really beg to differ blizzard consciously made bad 2-mana minions to counter shredder because most released 2-mana minions from TGT are good without their battlecry. You might even argue that shredder actually got better after TGT because more good 2-mana cards were added than bad ones:

  • The good (11): Flame juggler, boneguard lieutenant, garisson commander, druid of the saber, king's elekk, fallen hero, undercity valiant, totem golem, tiny knight of evil, sparring partner, Alexstrasza's champion
  • The bad (3): Lance carrier, argent watchman, darnassus aspirant

I might be wrong in my opinion, but the examples of cards like boom, mad scientist (1.5 mana + <secret cost>) and piloted shredder would be a much better fit, as they actually are used and be much clearer examples because of that. At the moment only boom is really addressed and that is in base breaker on YMMV.

I just noticed by the way that quite a lot of these examples are also on the YMMV page under game breaker, it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to put them in main under power creep, because those cards are vastly more powerful than cards before them, like loot hoarder (2 mana 2/1 draw a card) vs. mad scientist (2 mana 2/2 draw a secret and play it immediately).

The point of the class cards, thinking back yeah that's very stupid. Warlock never had a straight up 3-damage card and it is a very good utility card for them.

First off, aren't you proving my point? You can play Ice rager along with magma rager, but Ice rager is more useful because if its one additional health? Who in their right mind would take a Magma rager over an Ice rager, or a Booty Bay Bodyguard over an Evil Heckler? No one. The old cards have been powercrept. It doesn't matter that they're not the most powerful there is, nor the fact that they're (almost) never used, but that they are strictly better than something we had before.

Secondly: Yeti vs Mech Yeti is a no-brainer. If you want a 4/5, you first look at mechanical yeti, saying 'Can I get synergy from this card'. In other words, am I running a mech deck or something that loves cheap spells for one reason or another. That's powercreep too, because while Mechanical Yeti is, at core, an equal card to Chillwind, Mechanical Yeti allows for synergies that Chillwind doesn't. The only reason you'd ever take a chillwind over a mechanical is that

  • You've had too many bad experiences with your opponent getting exactly the spare part they need.
  • Decks that rely on cheap spells like spare parts are the bane of your deck.

While I do agree that Shredder can make for some ridiculous value, the cards you list as 'good' are pretty much on par: A piloted shredder will die to a 3/5, which'll then have a good chance of killing whatever comes out. Of all the cards you mentioned, only one (totem golem) is above-par, because it survives battle with the now 3/1 (To speak nothing of the 3/6, hello twilight guardian). I'd list the added 2-mana cards like this:

  • The good: Totem Golem. (In a vacuum, allows a shredder to duke it out with a 3/5 and still have something on the board - better value)
  • The average: Flame Juggler, boneguard lieutenant, garisson commander, druid of the saber, king's elekk, fallen hero, undercity valiant, tiny knight of evil, sparring partner, Alexstrasza's champion (In a vacuum, shredder + spawn trades with a 3/5 - even value)
  • The bad: Lance carrier, Darnassus aspirant, argent watchman. (In a vacuum, makes a shredder+spawn lose against a 3/6, or has some really debilitating effect - less value, sometimes far less).

So what Blizzard is trying to do is to make shredder too unreliable when held against solid 3/5s and 3/6's (You don't see dragon priest running mechanical shredder over twilight guardian, just as you don't see Oil rogue running it over Violet Teacher, and if hero-power mage ever gets off the ground, you bet you're going to see Dalaran Aspirant). The shredder might net you a massive tempo swing, or the card that comes out could lose you the game (hello doomsayer) - Shredder is consistently powerful right now, and that's what Blizzard is trying to do something about. Honestly, I feel the only reason that Totem Golem exists was to attempt to push a totem-deck, not to buff the shredder.

And while I agree an easy fix would be to make the shredder a 3/3 so it doesn't trade up and priests can shadow-madness any shredder-user to tears, Blizzard seems to have a very strict policy on nerfs and buffs: Buffs never happen, they'd rather make cards that powercreep low-value cards, and nerfs only happen if they shake their head and go 'Why did we make this card again'?

So as it stands today. Yes, Piloted Shredder is powercreeping many other 4-mana cards, but the release of good 3/5s and contextual 3/6's absolutely does something to work against it.

As for Mad scientist... it's a complicated case because you draw a specific type of card. Say your deck has 10 cards left in it and you'd really like a flamestrike to clear your opponent's board. In that case, the Mad Scientist on the board is useless, and the secret you drew will buy you an extra turn at the very most. If mad scientist had a deathrattle that said 'Play a card', then you'd absolutely be right. But as it is, it's a specific draw, so it does not really cramp Loot Hoarder any - especially not for the classes that don't have secrets. (No one will pick a vanilla 2/2 over a 2/1 deathrattle: draw a card)

for the shout-outs in another language (for exemple, the French Firball flavor's text is part of the lyrics of a famous French song, do they go into the shout-out page or elsewhere ?

If I had to guess, since it has an entire separate page, we should try to keep all shout-outs on the Shout-Out Page.

We need to have a bit of a chat on the Awesome, but Impractical, etc. entries. The trope can't be "every legendary in the game" or even a large subset of them or it's going to turn into an issue of GameFAQs.

Well, are they really all qualifiers? The nature of legendary powers is that many of them are designed to have drawbacks; that's something that can be stated without listing every single one.

I may have started the list by providing four diverse legendaries with varying drawbacks. This was done for demonstration purposes though and I never intended it to be a full list. Maybe we should [[note]] the entire thing away to improve readability?
