For some reason, the fact that people thought "Float like a Butterfree, sting like a Beedrill" was a Cars reference is really, really depressing to me.

Humanity has a tendency to assume random things (like things in two works that happen to coincidentally be present in both works) as non-random, deliberate similarities (such as one of these things in one work being based off the thing in the other work - Shout-Out and Expy for example) - Apophenia it is called.
