I was wondering if I should start a Fridge (brilliance) page for this? Is there one already? The writing is so clever I'm sure there are plenty of instances, I can see one already in the character page under Mackenzie (mass emailing wouldn't be required in her job in the Middle East hence her mistake in the second episode). However, I can't think of any more at the moment.

There is no Fridge page here yet - the place for you to start one would be Fridge. The Newsroom.

So what was the importance of naming an episode "Willie Pete" if the gas concerned is sarin?

Probably because it was the key phrase that told Charlie and Mackenzie that the events Sweeney described were true, since it came from Hamni8, who was actually at the village in question. It WASN'T white phosphorous, but sarin warheads look a lot like it, so that would be what Hamni8 would tweet... only the team knows it wasn't "just" Willie Pete.

Does anyone else think that Sloan decking the guy who posted pictures of her online was textbook Abuse Is OK When It's Female On Male? Consider this: would we have cheer/smirked/approved if it was, say, Will and Nina instead? If Will had spent an hour cowering in a ball in a darkened office, then tracked down Nina and broke her nose, we'd be disgusted and horrified. But when Sloan does it... Look, I know it relates to how we perceive gender relations and positions, but its been bugging me for days. Anyone else agree or want to chip in, here?

Totally agree, be even worse if he sues and the jury is composed of the people Sloan's pissed off this season.

If say Neal (someone who doesn't seem that strong) did it to a much larger smug female who'd been that much of a jerkass to him, I'd be completely fine with it. Will doing it to Nina - I don't like the idea of it because he's a lot bigger than her. I particularly didn't like the way the Occupy Wall Street girl punched Neal and it was played for laughs. That was serious abuse and it wasn't even Neal's fault. So in short, gender doesn't matter to me too much but size does, and yes I do think there are examples of double standards in this show but I don't think the Sloan example was one of them.

I added a note under Cultural Cringe (refering to the Creator Rant that Mc Avoy gives on why the US isn't the greatest). The original question is a case of Cultural Cringe #1, but the reply ISN'T promoting view #2 - it's merely refuting the presumption of case 1, not promoting the opposite. That is, it's refuting that the USA is the best, but not saying it's the worst. Also, removed Intimate Healing, because the scene being referred to, while definitely intended to help fuel the UST between the two characters, is played strictly according to medical standards, and has very little physical contact (single pulse feel at neck, then one on wrist 5 minutes later). The tension and the UST comes from the conversation, NOT the minimal physical contact, which isn't even of the "...could be mistaken for something else..." variety. Removed: "Official Couple: Will and MacKenzie; Jim and Maggie; spoiler:Don and Sloan." because NONE of them are as of yet couples. They're going that way, but as of the beginning of Season 2, none are dating at all. Lots of angst, no actual dates. Will/Mac might qualify as most of the rest of the cast seems to presume they'll end up together. Jim/Maggie is shipped by lots, but ISN'T a couple at all. Don/Sloan doesn't even come close to making this trope. Basically, we're all Shipping these couples right now, but they're a long way from Official.

Okay guys seriously what's the reference with "I wonder what Jim Carrey is doing now..."?

Dumb and Dumber, out-universe but funny. Something of a placeholder, I guess.

Might be really nitpicky of me, but if Will Mc Avoy is from a small town outside of a small town in Nebraska, why is he a Jets fan?
11:40:28 AM Jul 12th 2013
I'm from Indiana and my team is the Boston Red Sox. What's your point?
08:03:09 AM Aug 19th 2013
I know people who are fans of teams whose town they aren't from, but they have some interesting reasons for it, and I'm sure you have a good reason for liking the Red Sox. Maybe it's because I'm a Patriots fan, but I can't think of a reason why someone like Will Mc Avoy would choose to be a Jets fan.

Do we have an article on attractive newsreaders? If not, why not?
06:44:32 AM Aug 13th 2012
Wouldn't that fall under Hot Scoop? Or does that apply only to print reporters?

Yeah, I just got into this. And my first problem seems pretty obvious; Leona and her two sons are the antagonists along with a minor one in Don, and we're not stepping on their toes? What the hell!? Leona doesn't care about real reporting or giving people information to make their own decisions and doing the right thing, she just cares about her goddamn money. She'd earn more than enough from those watching Will rip into the facts and dragging them out kicking and screaming. People care to learn, lady. I assume you are intelligent enough to know that. Hell, I'm starting to doubt that more and more.
