So, Kouichirou is classified as a Mighty Glacier because his MegaBlack persona is listed as "Powerful, but slow". But what about the other Megarangers? What are their roles in the Competitive Balance?
Okay, I think this might be another case of Hello86 doing the wrong research with just reading The Other Wiki... But CMIIW anyway.
So yeah, once again after watching Megaranger further... HOW does Chisato fit being The Big Guy? All right, arguments about her being a Lady of War can be backed up with how her comment about 'Mega Yellow being the most eloquent', but that... pretty much is all, Chisato doesn't seem to put a lot of graces and reserves in battle. Her usual attitude is not too big about being action-oriented. Don't tell me that you're using her being involved in the Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever scenario...
I would think that both she and Miku share The Chick position, whereas Kouichirou doubles being both The Lancer AND The Big Guy, because Mega Black's description is 'Powerful, but slow', befitting the Mighty Glacier trope. We've had Sentais that has one guy sharing two roles, while two guys sharing one role (Dairanger or to an extent, Flashman and Fiveman).
So... yeah, discuss if I'm right or wrong?
Hide / Show RepliesWell, this time, not so much as reading The Other Wiki, but reading THIS VERY WIKI. I didn't create this page (I did JAKQ Dengeki Tai, Battle Fever J, Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan, Dai Sentai Goggle Five, Kagaku Sentai Dynaman, Dengeki Sentai Changeman, Choushinsei Flashman, Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, Chouriki Sentai Ohranger, Seijuu Sentai Gingaman and Rescue Sentai Go Go Five), but I did revamp it to its current form. In the original version of this page, Chisato's character description already classified her as Lady of War. By default, and interpreting Lady of War as "Battle Expert," I put her into The Big Guy slot because of her Lady of War stats *. Come to think of it, going with what the old version said unquestionably might have not be the best thing to have done. So, yeah, we should change it.
My Super Sentai experience, in actuality, is far less limited to just reading The Other Wiki and other fansites. I have seen quite a bit of Super Sentai episodes in the past: a large amount of full Bioman, Changeman, Maskman mainly, and some episodes and whatever misc. clips I can find of the others. It's just that the written info on other sites, including The Other Wiki, comprises most of my modern experience these days. I guess I should really watch more Super Sentai, especially to double-check my info. I didn't know your source for Super Sentai episodes till recently.
Edited by Hello86When does it say that Chisato is a battle expert (that stuff fits Sakura better, though...)? AFAIK, she seems to be more or less a normal girl who's just into what she's currently is (taking portraits and being a Hot Scoop in general). Oh, she does play Megaranger videogame sometimes, so that gives her quite some knowledge on fighting as a Megaranger, but... well that's not enough, I suppose, when you have Kenta who's a pro on there and know more about the moves.
The definition of Lady of War is when you're an Action Girl and you're dang graceful and classy while fighting your enemy. So by that extension, even Lady of War is debatable to Sakura, since (again, CMIIW!) I would think that being in an army, she has no time to be classy, and focuses more on firepower (Action Girl fits her wholly, though!). Okay, that should be taken to the Boukenger discussion page instead of Megaranger.
Although, I suppose Lady of War would fit Chisato since Mega Yellow IS Eloquent. But I don't think that qualifies her as The Big Guy. Because the other description of Mega Yellow is 'deals less damage, but very quick'. And since when we have a Fragile Speedster Big Guy?
But yeah, I suppose I'll go scour on more Sentai pages here and point out the jarring things there...
EDIT: On second thought, I found a proper way to classify Chisato as The Big Guy. She's not just the Lady of War (Mega Yellow is Eloquent). Above all other Megarangers, only she has her own special physical direct attack: The Blade Arm. Mega Red and his Riser Punch/Chop is out of question since his ability is described to be: Able to install any techniques to his own repertoire, which means, only Mega Yellow has a special close range attack on her own (The Other Wiki lists Mega Black's Miracle Shoot as a technique, but I think it's more of Kouichirou's natural skill rather than an installed skill on Mega Black). Combined with the fact that her other weapon is the Mega Sling, only Mega Yellow can cover both long range and close range with ease without the Mega Sniper (Mega Red, Black, Blue are limited to close range, while Mega Pink is limited to long range). So... yeah, I guess being a 'battle master' would fit Chisato well, even if it was invoked unintentionally.

This page.... needs more talk about Megaranger and less praising about Shibolena. She's okay, but the attention given to her is kind of disproportionate.
