We've prepared separate House of Heroes and House of Villains. Now only a matter of time of someone moving things in. Let's do it, guys!

I've been trying to keep this problem in check for quite some time with little to no success, so I agree.

I propose we take it even further by adding the House of Ambiguity for antiheroes, antivillains, wild cards, and other morally ambiguous character archetypes. This proposal has the advantage of much greater accuracy and of accounting for ambiguous characters. Examples of characters that would go in said house.

1. Laharl (T1 antivillain) 2. Guts (T5 antihero) 3. Lambadelta (supreme wild card) 4. Travis Touchdown

Seems we're getting to critical mass in terms of size (488k/500k) YET AGAIN. Recommend moving some of the entries into more fitting houses.

1. Hayate to the House of Family

2. Eric Raymond to House of Emotion

3. Etna to House of Personal Appearance

4. Dien Wai to House of War

In addition, a House of Crime for criminal archtypes/crime tropes. That would move Lupin and Candlejack along with others from different houses.

Edit: Even with all the change arounds, we're STILL at 450k/500k (90% capacity).

Any ideas for a god of Evil Knock Off? For obvious reasons, we can't use Metal Sonic, despite being a pretty good example.

Me thinks we should use the following criteria:

1. Largest alignment shift: Who is the nastiest, most evil of all the Evil Knock Offs in comparison to the base material? 2. Power: Who is the most dangerous evil knock off? 3. Duration: Since most Evil Knock Off types tend to be one shot villains, who has the longest run before being Killed Off for Real?

From those, I'm thinking of two candidates: the Psycho Rangers (pretty iconic Sentai villain archetype IIRC), and Copy-X (messiah type vs psychotic tyranical Knight Templar nut job, Big Bad turned recurring villain). Anyone else want to add more candidates for discussion?

Suggestion: Eiji Hino of Kamen Rider OOO for God of Heroes with Traumatic Pasts or Good is not Dumb. The former... he was an emmisary to an African village for his father, who had donated money to it... in order to fund a civil war, which Eiji didn't know about, which ended up killing a little girl he befriended and robbing him of all desire (Aside from reaching out to help anyone who needs help), with him becoming a self sufficient world travelling wanderer.

The latter... he got given his Transformation Trinket by one of the monsters, who thought he was stupid (due to acting overly heroic and not asking questions when he was handed the device out of nowhere). Next episode.... he threatens to throw the Trinket away (the monster relying on him transforming) unless he stops prioritizing things over human lives.

Thoughts?

I think we can do better than Dischord for god of Vile Villain, Saccharine Show. As of now, I have three candidates for the posistion.

1. Any of the villains from Kirby. This trope is one of the major tropes this series is famous for. Especially that guy that puts out his own eyes for attacks (bleeding all the way).

2. Giygas. Need I say more.

3. Overlord Zenon.

Using the last one as an example, she's a better fit due to being an extreme example of the trope i.e. a light hearted parody of anime and RPG suddenly gets dark the moment she shows up as she's a psycopathic solitary CANNIBAL (that would be the worst ending, in which she possesses the hero and causes him to brutally kill and devour his adopted siblings, which is such a Shocking Swerve that it often gets compared to Silent Hill or the infamous NICE BOAT ending).

Actually I would have put Kirby villians ahead of Overlord Zenon. Primary reason is that I consider them to be much more prominent than Zenon or Disgaea or Discord for that matter. BTW Discord's entry is listed in multiple places. Including the GUAE.
magnum12
08:33:35 PM Jan 24th 2012
In regards to Kirby, which one is the best example? I've only really played Dream Land, Adventure, Squeak Squad, and Super Star, so I don't know that much about the villains except for Dedede, Meta Knight, Nightmare, and Marx.

As for Zenon, this sums up the HSQ, Shocking Swerve, and High Octane Nightmare Fuel aspects of her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02XfTf874YY. That ending is so infamous that it was censored in the US version to avoid an M rating
FriedDoughStickEater
10:32:58 PM Jan 24th 2012
Zero and his revived form as Zero 2 would be the best. He's the eyeball one. On the record of Zenon, that ending unfortunately does nothing for me. It merely reinforces my belief that Disgaea can not be called saccharine. As it is, I'm in favor of Kirby villains. Because I also think Discord doesn't fit either. For me, the important thing is the disconnect between the two concepts and how jarring it is. Kirby villains do a greater job of that than the alternatives I've seen so far.

Do write up a good portfolio for Zero 2. There's one big question on my mind. How do we do it so as not to cause confusion with that OTHER Zero?

As for Disgaea, trust me, they are very light hearted games (except 4 which is darker than the other chapters yet manages to keep the sense of humor). Much of the series T rating (about 80% of it me thinks) stems from the humor, which tends to be quite acid tongued and naughty, which fits as the series is a parody of anime and RP Gs. The second game managed to stay quite light hearted, right until Zenon showed up 6/7ths of the way through and became the game's Knight of Cerebus.

Even if not under Vile Villain, Saccharine Show, I still think Zenon needs to stay in the pantheon somehow. Perhaps under HSQ or Shocking Swerve. That worst ending (not canon) is so infamous amongst the RPG crowd that I've seen comparisons to Silent Hill, the legendary School Days NICE BOAT ending, and Miragushi. Now a days, I think the ending gets used on the internet as a PG "shock site" style prank (namely by Poke the Poodle [[[{Troll}} trolls]]) to horrify and frighten people to this day.

No, its not Fan Myopia acting here, Bronies have a very unsavory reputation for being an EXTREMELY aggressive and invasive fandom, often trying to subvert other fandoms via ponification of the material. The snarker in me wants to say that they seem to have some sort of obcession with conquering the internet or something.

Haven't seen the show, so I wouldn't know anything about Akihiro. However, Vile Villain, Saccharine Show is one of THE main things associated with the Kirby series, with Zero 02 being the most extreme of the bunch.

If that were true, I would have argued for Discord to stay in his spot. I may be a Brony, but even I can understand that when a guy plucks out his eyes to attack you in an E-rated game, that he's the most fitting villain for the job.

^ I feel sorry for Only Sane Men like you in fandoms with unpleasant reputations. They always end up either getting lumped in with the idiocy of the rest or driven mad by it. I know their pain, seeing as I was one of the few sane people in the infamously obnoxious Sonic fandom.

Alas, my comments about their aggression and "seeming drive to conquer the internet" to put it snarkily, comes from the personal experiences of both my brother and myself. In my case, the bronies have been very aggressive in trying to subvert the War Hammer 40000 fandom. Bro's experience stems from the havoc wrought upon the Garry's Mod and Team Fortress 2 community. (Besides idiot fans, one of the reasons RubberFruit quit was because of constant harrasment from bronies.)

I agree with all of the above. Fried Dough Stick Eater's notion about Vile Villain, Saccharine Show makes perfect sense and is probably the best candidate. And as a fellow brony, I am very sorry that we had yet another rabid fan try to edit out a perfectly good chance because for the sake ponies.

However, the brony in me does hope that Discord does eventually make it back into the pantheon in some form.

  • Having lost his spot in the Hell In A Cell match, JBL intends to take on Bret Hart for the position of God of Wrestling. He's been working with Ted Di Biase to take the World Heavyweight Championship.
  • Has drawn heat from a number of Gods due to his racist or sexist comments. Some of the higher Gods have plans to bring in a few luchadores to help put him in his place.

With the Noble Top Enforcer being around for anti-villan dragons, now there's the question of who should be the god of the trope? Should it be General Leo or Harpuia? Both are well known amongst their respective fandoms (Final Fantasy and Mega Man). Both are very good examples of the trope. Both are also very sympathetic Type IV anti-villains.

Given what little we saw, it could be accurately concluded that Leo was pretty competent in battle, though he's probably more effective against hordes than in duels. Both characters are intelligent and competent leaders. I'd say it probably goes to whoever you feel more sorry for in their posistion, i.e, who's the more tragic character. For that reason, I'd say Harpuia.
