Maybe I'm wrong, but I think a good deal of what The Joker says in The Dark Knight counts as this.
This may sound weird, but sometimes I want to make a story in the name of this trope with a dark Grey-and-Gray Morality feel to it, where the characters are regarded as evil, and maybe the darker gray are Anti-Villains, but mainly it's just a matter of Order vs. Chaos, and/or seeing who would still be the lightest and most good of the villains like a Nominal Hero compared to everyone else, that in a world full of pure evil, only one guy or so wonders if the whole thing is completely pointless.
So at worst, it could be more of an Evil Versus Evil thing, and one can tries to defy that. Loosely, by still being very morally ambiguous.
There probably already is a story like this somewhere, but I don't know...
"Hell exists not to punish sinners, but to ensure that nobody sins in the first place." - Eikishiki Yamaxanadu (Touhou)
