"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanLet's have real life examples...
I just added a couple of real life examples. I notice that others have been added in the past and then deleted.
I don't get it. The trope is clearly limited to In Universe examples, but it is NOT listed under No Real Life examples please. I don't see any logical reason why real life examples should not be included.
It's important that the person making the statement should know it's an understatement and expect their listeners to know it too in some way. But there are some great real life examples out there and I can't see why they should get excluded.

Is it just me or does every page has a link to this page?
Hide / Show RepliesYeah - I usually edit it out if I'm around; it's usually either unnecessary or just plain stupid.
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if more of these Sink Holed links were actually understatements.
Edited by BRPXQZMEThe Tabletop Games section looks ... odd. Are the quotes from the actual games (rule sheets, RPG books, etc.), or are they just things that have been said about them? In the latter case: by whom`? I'm also pretty sure examples should be from works, not about them. In the former case: please, state where the quote is from!
Edited by AntheiaWait, what? What? Huh? Who photoshopped the page image?! It used to have an exclamation mark in a triangle above the "sand" sign. That's a rather poor edit too, you can see the edges of the blue sky pasted on, and the shadow still has a triangular shape.
The image here intrudes into the examples. How can we fix this, because right now it looks awful.
Hide / Show RepliesIt looks better than so much whitespace the example content is driven off the page.
Edited by FastEddie Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyWell, I left-justified it and added some more description so there's no white space. Sorry I bludgeoned the edit history there- I sort of forgot about the preview option.
Edited by SomeGuy See you in the discussion pages.Crappy picture, anyway. I just cut it, so we can move on with our lives.
