Anyone who thinks this wiki invented the concept of analysing media or the concept of tropes, that it didn't exist before wikis did, or that we're even the only website/wiki to do so, needs to get outside more. And read stuff outside this site. Calling Aristotle a troper is ridiculous.

Re: Beware of the Caucasian Prisoner

I've seen this a lot of times. When a group of bad guys, during a critical moment in the film, are suddenly confronted by a character coming towards them with a Caucasian prisoner, they should be on their guard because the white guy is an armed assailant and the other guy is his partner masquerading as a bad guy.

Relevant examples:

1. Windtalkers (2002) - Nicolas Cage playing the white prisoner and Adam Beach pretending to be a Japanese soldier

2. Tropic Thunder (2008) - Jack Black as the white prisoner and a disguised Robert Downey, Jr. as a "rice farmer"

3. Blood Diamond (2006) - Leonardo Di Caprio as a "prisoner" and Djimon Honsou pretending to be an RUF guerilla

4. No Escape (2015) - Pierce Brosnan acts like a prisoner and his partner pretends to be an enemy in order to carry out a rescue

Why do all these .... keep repeating themselves?

I like how the page description for this page provided by Google says "The Trope trope as used in popular culture, with a list of examples from all media."
